Gilmore Girls characters reacting to you asking to "try on" their lipgloss/chapstick as a way to kiss them (headcanons)
Characters included: Lorelai, Luke, Rory, Lane, Dean, Paris, Jess, and Logan
Warnings/contains: gn! reader, kissing (obviously), fluffiness, umm nothing other than that I don't think
Beginning notes: this idea is so stupid I know!! but I thought it might be cute to write out okay (I also need to practice writing for these characters more)
Lorelai Gilmore
Oh God. You so much as lightly suggest to wanting to try on her lipgloss or chapstick and she pulls out a whole makeup pouch full of them with all kinds in different flavors and colors and sizes and shapes and-
You can't even get a word in the first couple of minutes that she's speaking because she's taking the time to go through them all, trying to find the best one that would fit you perfectly
She doesn't quite pick up on what you're asking her right away until she finally pauses and sees the shy and somewhat hopeful smile on your face, but once she does catch on she gets all giddy and a little smug, saying something along the lines of "aw, you little rascal you, c'mere" before giving you the kiss you so desired
Luke Danes
He absolutely does not understand what you're trying to ask him at all, mostly because he doesn't wear chapstick anyway. You literally have to spell it for him step-by-step and he still won't get it
"Here, take this chapstick and put it on so I can kiss you"
"Why do I need to put it on for you to kiss me? Are my lips really that chapped?"
"No, it's so I can ask to try the chapstick on and then kiss you afterwards"
"...but I can just give you the chapstick and then have you put it on. Why would I need to put it on first? That doesn't make any sense"
He's basically just like "??" the entire time you're attempting to explain it to him, and he only kind of gets it by the tenth try, though he does manage to pick up on the idea that if he wears chapstick more often you might kiss him more, so your plan sort of ends up working ig
Rory Gilmore
It's a toss-up as to whether she'll immediately pick up on what you're asking her or not, though she'll probably get it within the first couple of minutes or so, her cheeks flushing a rosy hue as she avoids eye contact and stammers a little bit
"W- Well, I think I might have some extra in my bag if you're that desperate... oh, I'm guessing you must've meant the other way you try on someone's lipgloss or chapstick, huh? I should've known"
After that she just sort of awkwardly sits there, waiting to see which one of you is going to make the first move (it's probably going to have to be you) and then after the kiss she seems to be in a daze for a moment or so before clearing her throat and hastily changing the subject
Lane Kim
I actually think she'll pick up on what you're asking her fairly quickly, though she might play dumb unless she's certain the two of you are alone so her mom won't find out she was kissing someone randomly after they posed her such a flirtatious question
She'll most likely let you take the lead (unless you're as inexperienced as she is), melting into it as the kiss goes from a short and sweet peck to something much more tender, almost forgetting what you were even supposed to be doing in the first place
Afterwards, all she can do is say "wow" for the next couple of minutes or so, appearing a little awestruck, though she does make a cheeky comment about how the chapstick/lipgloss you now have on you compliments your complexion once she gets over the initial shock of it all
Dean Forester
He doesn't really get it at first but picks up on what you mean pretty quickly once you explain (thank God) so you're spared the embarrassment of fumbling over your words for any longer than you have to. He thinks it's cute despite you disagreeing with him on that
Makes a big show of applying a fresh layer of chapstick just for you, and is even so kind as to lean down so you're not craning your neck and having to stand up on your tippy toes to be able to reach him
Gives you an affectionate pat on the head once he's done kissing you because he's obligated to make you aware of how short you are compared to him at least once every time you see him while saying "there, happy now?", chuckling as he enjoys the indignant look on your face while you smack his hand away
Paris Geller
She honestly just sort of glares at you when you first ask ("I don't wear lipgloss, and I left my chapstick at home this morning")
Definitely is one where you have to explain to her what you mean, to which she answers with a soft little "oh" in response, almost as if she feels a bit sheepish for her initial aloof demeanor
It's kind of awkward for a couple of minutes after until one of you changes the subject, and you think that's the end of it until later that day when she approaches you, her face red and her lips looking shiny
"If you still want to try it on, you may." When you hesitate, she huffs in aggravation and demands "well? Are you going to try it on or not?"
You don't even think about questioning her further because of how flustered she obviously is, planting an affectionate kiss to her lips before watching in amusement as she stalks away, grumbling to herself as she wipes off the excess lipgloss on the back of her hand
Jess Mariano
Okay say what you will but I think he'd catch onto what you mean fairly quickly, especially if you're looking a little flustered when you ask
"Oh, so you wanna try on my chapstick, do you? In what way, exactly?"
He absolutely teases you first, adding something along the lines of "maybe I forgot to wear chapstick this morning. Still wanna try on my lips and see how they fit? I promise I'll be gentle. I'll only bite if you beg me" while he nuzzles his face against the side of your jaw before finally giving in and kissing you the way you want
Never play the flirting game with him and expect to win is all I can say because he'll come out on top nearly every time
Logan Huntzberger
He's another one who I think would actually understand what you're asking, he just plays dumb at first to see how frustrated he can make you
"Hm, I don't think I have any chapstick on me... didn't I see you grab some before we left, though? Maybe you should check your pockets"
If you were trying to catch him off guard with your question I'm sorry to say it doesn't work. You only realize he's messing with you when you spot the playful grin on his face
"What's the matter? Can't find it? Or did you still wanna try on mine?"
The soft, muffled laughter that escapes him at the insistent kisses he ends up letting you attack him with are so worth the annoyance he made you feel beforehand
End notes: some of these are a little bit longer than others, sorry about that! I tried to keep them all the same length but alas I do not control the little guy in my head who directs me on what to write 😔 /j

I think the real issue with Dean is that there's no context to any of his actions beyond his interactions with the title characters. We know some vague information about his family, but we don't spend any substantial time with his parents. Why is he so angry? Why is he so psychotically possessive? Why does he have to spend every waking moment with Rory and Lorelai instead of getting a life? Why does he have such an inflated ego that he consistently acts as if Rory is a great disappointment to him? You're not having fun here, dude. Just leave. We know why Jess is angry (unstable childhood, neglected and possibly abused by his mother) and we know why Logan is angry (difficult relationship with his father, forced into a role he didn't want and not allowed to develop his own identity) but for Dean it's a giant question mark, even though he seems far more likely to fly into an explosive rage than the other two boys and Rory and Lorelai are constantly working overtime to avoid invoking his wrath or displeasing him in any way. What made him like this? It goes unexplored because the narrative is also inexplicably telling us that he's the perfect boyfriend and his home life is ideal and his behavior is impeccable (even as we see him verbally abusing Lindsey and making it clear she also has to tiptoe around him to avoid making him angry). ASP does not seem to understand or want to explore the implications of someone she kept on her show for four and a half seasons, and eventually he's dropped with no follow up until AYITL. It seems a case of deliberate obscufucation instead of actually bothering to write a character.

some elaborations on different epilogue things
@sir-fenris @floral-comet-whump @catnykit
uhhh spoilers under cut i guess? idk if youre not caught up maybe you wont want to know all this or it wont even make sense
-lorelai and paris were traveling in between different CTRL bases but still moving towards the border, likely to arrive at a base that isnt hosted in enemy territory
-when melodi says “they are asleep”, she is talking about the sea monsters 😊
-however i do love the naiads being noctural…. i think honestly they traditionally live at a depth where theres v little sunlight so the day/night cycles dont even mean much to them. but on Elysia (planet they crashed on) they are diurnal
-naiads live under the sea! some live on land as well cause theyre an amphibious species but the majority of the settlements are beneath the ocean which is what paris means when he says its hard to get a headcount
-i also think paris’s use of the term “naiad” is actually a bit colloquial and that there is a more specific name for deltas species. maybe more on that later but i’ll probably stick to naiad to refer to the species generally
-anyway, a lot of the food supply is just through hunting/fishing and gathering undersea vegetation, but a lot of it is also collecting and trading for food that grows on the surface. both would be available to melodi. she brought that stuff from her house lol.
-yeah melodi did kill a whale :) its a hunter culture they learn to kill things quickly and respectfully its very cool
-paris knows deltas species and delta does not which i think is really fucked up. delta never asked paris about it and realistically i think paris would have avoided the question out of guilt and delta wouldnt have gotten an answer either way
-this will be covered more later maybe but my favorite additional information about the epilogue is that paris and lorelai broke up a few months later. it was amicable but lorelai initiated and the main reason for that is they just have very different needs and lifestyles at this point. the most simple way i can put it is that lorelai’s career in politics is just beginning whereas paris is fucking retired. lorelai very much enjoys working with CTRL and wants to be continuously involved but paris is disabled and traumatized in a major way and honestly just needs to fucking rest. they have to split up.
-paris has dependency issues and slides into a weird gay roommate situationship w jay like one week after the breakup. imo lorelai anticipated this which is why she felt better about initiating the breakup and felt he would still have some safety net to keep him from totally spiraling
-paris is on friendly terms w CTRL but there isnt enough trust between them where he could ever feel comfortable living among them. there is just too much suspicion and guilt involved. they are technically accountable for him and he is involved w some stuff they do, mostly as a consultant, but its very behind the scenes work. he wouldnt go back into imperial territory unless he absolutely had to
-lorelai is on v v friendly terms w CTRL, just got her little membership ring. she’s in a weird gay situationship w vi and is testing the limits of her bisexuality. she is not ready to give up party girl lifestyle yet and her life actually still resembles crash out a lot except just the good parts. shes better protected and more competent now and has a vision she can work towards obsessively. she can fix them (empire)
-paris and lorelai are still best friends and would still consider each other to be like the most important person in each others lives. they have friendship bracelets 💌
okay that became a paris/lorelai infodump instead of actually addressing questions so uhhh lmk if i missed anything or if anything else needs clarification. thaaaaanks <333

Stitches don't heal AU overview - minus final arc ideas @maskedbutsilly :3
Before
So it starts like a decade post-apocalypse. Lorelai is the head of a settlement of people (definitely not lmanburg mhm mhm) and doing pretty well at it actually. People are happy. Connor at this time is travelling with Schlatt I mean Jay, and they two are in the business of inflitrating and taking down settlements n ramshackle cities for hire and for fun. They go in build trust then tear the settlement down for profit.
So Connor and Jay find themselves outside Lor's place, as Jay has history with Lor and wants him dead. This spawns a split in the settlement's loyalties, as the J + C team are very charismatic n lay down lies about Lor's ability to lead, about his past that very few know, basically just fucking Lor over at every turn from the outside (as Lor banned them from being able to come in).
Lor around this time gets bit by a zombie and, already being accused of being an all-around poor individual, gets really paranoid that his people will turn on him. He hides the bite and gets deathly ill over the course of a few weeks, all the while battling J+C, inside dissent, and his own self-worth issues (as he can't help but listen when everyone around him is questioning his worth). Towards the end, when he thinks he's about to turn, he runs into the wilderness taking only a token to remember his son by and a cloak to die in.
Connor and Jay find their way in when Lor runs, and that night, torch the whole place.
Survival
Lor survives the bite. In the weeks after he runs, he feels the worst hes ever felt-- sick to the point where he can't walk, colder than anything even in june, and starved. He doesn't know why he didn't turn completely, but he blames it on his dad, that good-for-nothing jerk.
But Lor doesn't come out the other end unchanged. He's nearly dead- blood flow reduced to a bare minimum, eye corneas blackened (hides with tinted glasses), temperature regulation all wack (clothing clothing clothing for days), wounds dont heal (stitches don't heal they only bind meat together), and of course his body also rejects all food except human flesh.
He wanders for a long, long while before he meets anyone that won't kill him within the first day of knowing him.
Lor and Connor (unknowing of their history together) meet face to face for the first time in a run-down barn on the edge of some surprisingly well-maintained farmland. Connor and Jay's whole deal had gone south very quickly when Connor started getting ambitions of his own, wanting more than to be some asshole's crony and trophy husband. Connor escaped Jay and hopped from city to city, trying to make his way, until he made some of the wrong enemies and was nearly killed. He avoided people for the most part after that, only coming into contact to get goods to stay alive.
They meet when Lor stumbles upon Connor's temporary resting spot- Connor startling into waking and reflexively driving a blade across Lor's chest. This ends up with the two of them travelling together, Connor feeling guilty and Lor enchanted by Connor's failgirl vibe. Lor hides his weird zombie-ness from Connor. Connor, after learning Lor's name, hides his complicity in the destruction of Lor's home.
They wander together for a good while. Theyre like the worst little dudes youve ever seen- they can't stop aggravating each other, but are drawn to each other because the other is the only one who's been able to tolerate and even appreciate the other for their flaws.
Lor after all this time feels apathetic about most things, callous towards the bad, and cracking jokes at the good. Connor on the other hand finds himself caring too much- he finds a stance to argue on just about any topic, and has killed when his conversation partner pisses him off too much. Lor feels deeply about the past he shares freely with Connor, how he misses his son, his friends. Connor would prefer to forget it all and bury it before his only friend finds out his secret. They pick at each other.
At some point down the line, they get into a relationship. And shortly after, Lor finally breaks the whole zombie thing to Connor-- its kind of hard not to notice when youre kissing a guy with zombie-cold lips, and Lor knows enough about normal people behavior to know thats kind of a stupid thing to hide from your partner. Connor reacts poorly, of course, but better than Lor thought. Connor doesn't attack him or run. Instead he blows up- Lor eats people??? Lor is a zombie, just like the shambling wrecks all around them, and he expects Connor to believe that Lor's not planning to kill him? Or use him to kill others? Has Lor been sneaking away to eat human the whole time theyve known each other (yeah)? They get closer together, but Lor revealed too much and Connor can't deal with the knowledge.
Death(?)
Its a tense few days later when Lor and Connor are passing through a dead city. Its overrun by hordes of zombies, who pay no mind to Lor, but seem all too happy to hunt Connor down. Theyre just doing a supply run, but it gets bad fast, and theyre overcome. They break into a locked building, shattering a window (and Connor slicing his leg open on the glass). The position isn't tenable. They know they have to find a way through the horde somehow but Connor, limping and smelling of blood, can't think of any way out. He knows Lor will make it out safely, but there's no way for Connor to survive here. Lor has an idea.
They'd split the hordes attention. If one runs first, most of the horde would focus on that one, giving the other time to escape. The only problem is that zombies aren't attracted to Lor, he smells like death. Lor looks down at Connor's bandaged leg wound and warns that what he's about to do will probably freak Connor out, but its the only thing he can think of. He replaces Connor's makeshift bandage with his cloak, and wraps the cloth over his shoulders.
Smelling of blood, Lor runs out the window and takes most of the horde with him. Connor follows soon after, but is caught by surprise when a small group of zombies grabs at him just outside. Slowed and weakened, he manages to fight them off, but at a cost. As he limps out of the suddenly cleared city, he finds his arm aches something fierce. Connor already knows what he'll find if he looks down at it.
Looking back into the city from a hill on the outskirts, he sees a large shuffle of motion at its center, and wonders if Lor is still caught in the horde, if he escaped or was torn to pieces. Alone on the hill, Connor hopes Lor escaped.

All throughout the feast, Lorelai Stark kept trying to make eye contact with him, but he had expertly avoided her. Had their time in King’s Landing as joint hostages meant nothing to him?
She knew that wasn’t true — that time had bonded them in irrevocable ways. They’d found comfort in one another’s arms, he would bring her books, he had apologized for standing by while the Mad King had brutally assaulted her. He brought her to the heights of pleasure night after night until the horns of House Lannister announced their arrival in the city. The rest was history.
She’d assumed their history would’ve at least warranted a passing glance from him. Apparently not.
When the royal retinue had arrived at the keep she’d been hopeful that Jaime would seek her out, even if it was only to make stiff pleasantries. He had danced with her once at the welcome banquet, but answered her questions monosyllabically and refused to look her in the eye. There were a few times she’d caught him looking her way in the tiltyard or at dinner but he was always quick to avert his gaze.
Lorelai hadn’t expected him to drop to his knees and declare his undying love for her in the sight of gods and men, but she also hadn’t expected his terse coldness toward her. Some sort of acknowledgement of their shared history would’ve satisfied her — a wink, a smirk, a “hello,” even. She’d received nothing.
Too tired to do much else, she excused herself to her rooms and left the noisy feast hall.
Later that night while Drella finished brushing out her hair, Lorelai took in her reflection. The years had been kind to her, only showing a little around her eyes. She’d never thought herself a great beauty, but she had been pretty enough to entice a Myrish prince into her bed.
And a Pentoshi merchant or two.
And once a muscle-bound Dothraki bloodrider who spent the entire night growling at her in a language she didn’t understand. For all she knew, he had been insulting her the entire time.
Even if the years had been kind, seemingly they hadn’t been kind enough to tempt Jaime Lannister back to her. After all this time, everything they had shared meant nothing to him. And she had to accept that — she wasn’t going to throw herself at a former flame who had been ignoring her presence since his arrival.
She dismissed Drella for the night and pulled on a dressing gown. Once the maid was gone she pulled on her darkest cloak and made her way outside. She grabbed a torch from the wall and used it to guide herself to the far side of the Great Hall, into the secret entrance that led down to the hot springs that provided warmth to the keep.
Sometime long ago, one of her ancestors had dug out three grottoes deep underneath the keep and directed the warm waters into them. Some maesters believed they had been used as baths before tubs were readily available. Most of the denizens of Winterfell had forgotten about the grottoes, but Lorelai and Lyanna had come across them one day while exploring.
The dark stone steps led her down, down, down into the bowels of Winterfell. Deeper even than the crypts on the other side of the keep. The movement of water could be heard as soon as she got to the bottom of the steps. Around a corner she entered the hallway that had three curved arches, two on her right and one on her left, each one leading to the private coves.
Lorelai hooked the torch inside the arch on the left after lighting two more. She unclasped her cloak — the air was humid and warm down here. Her dressing gown soon followed. The pool on the left had always been her favorite, even though it was the smallest. She stepped onto the wooden walkway above the pool and sat down, dipping her feet into the water.
Her loud sigh of relief echoed off the two thick stone arches that bisected the space above the pool.
“Hello?” a voice said through the dark and she nearly leapt out of her skin. A soft glow turned the corner, the sound of boots scraping the floor coming closer and closer.
“Who goes there?” Lorelai demanded, pulling her feet out of the water and standing, cursing herself for not bringing a weapon — especially in light of Bran’s fall. She snatched her dressing gown off the wall and hastily tied it shut.
“Ser Jaime Lannister,” he said, voice echoing slightly. Lorelai poked her head out of the archway and sure enough, the golden knight of Lannister stood a few yards down the hallway. Torchlight lit him, making his golden hair glow and highlighting his features.
If the years had been kind to her, they had been downright magnanimous to Jaime. His jaw had sharpened and his body had filled out into that of a man. Any trace of boyishness she remembered was gone, replaced by features that were somehow rugged and ethereal at the same time.
“What are you doing down here?” she asked as he sauntered closer. He hooked his torch in the hallway sconce and crossed his arms across his broad chest.
“Looking for you, of course.”
She exited the archway and gave him her full attention. “Nearly a month of living in the same place and you seek me out now? When we are set to journey together in two days?”
Nothing but stolen glances. And now he’d followed her to her secret space in the dead of night.
“Yes,” he said, his words clipped and sharp. “I’ve come to warn you not to return to King’s Landing.”
She quirked an eyebrow at him and took a step closer, the stone tiles cool against her bare feet. “Why not?”
Jaime’s green eyes locked on hers. “Something may happen to you if you do.”
“Are you threatening me?” A step back.
He stepped forward, throwing his hands out toward her, “No! Not me, I would never. It’s…I worry for you, that’s all.”
It was her turn to cross her arms, which enhanced her cleavage. “Am I supposed to believe you after how coldly you’ve been acting since you arrived?”
Jaime’s eyes glanced at her chest, landing on her eyes again. He had the audacity to look contrite. “Keeping my distance from you is the only way I can keep you safe. If you go to King’s Landing, I cannot guarantee your safety.”
“You…you’re concerned for my safety?” She softened toward him. The truth showed in his eyes, but only those who had seen behind his mask could detect it. And she had seen behind his mask many, many times.
“Of course I am. I’ve never stopped caring for you,” he said, closing the distance between them and brushing a swath of her hair over her shoulder. He let his fingers linger on the exposed skin of her collarbone and his other arm snaked around her waist. He pulled her closer and Lorelai felt warm all over. “Please, Lorelai, stay here, far away from the Red Keep.”
Her hand drifted to his chest, palm searching for his beating heart underneath his hot skin, just like she used to. Memories of their time together flashed in her mind’s eye. She looked up at him from under her lashes, heat flooding between her legs. “I survived there before, I can do it again.”
Their breaths mingled, adding to the humidity of the space around them. His voice low, he murmured, “It’s an entirely different game this time, Lore.”
“Then you’ll have to tell me the rules.” She shifted her weight to the balls of her feet and pushed herself up, seeking his lips.
Jaime all but shoved her away. The sudden distance between them left her cold. He averted his eyes from her and shifted his weight between his feet. “I…I can’t.”
Humiliation rose in her chest and she clenched her fists. “Then I’ll figure it out on my own. Leave now, Ser Jaime.”
Much to her chagrin, he did. Without a word, he lifted his torch out of the sconce and she listened to the sound of his boots against the floor until they faded entirely.
Lorelai entered the underground pool and slipped into the warm water, nightdress and all, sinking until every part of her was underwater, including her head. Only there did she feel comfortable screaming out her frustration.

𝐇𝐖𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝟏𝟓 : plot call ( for my sanity i'll make a separate post related to starters ). i won't be dropping any on-going threads, nor will i begin anything new or post any non-headcanon memes until after the event. but feel free to do so on your end. hit the heart and i'll message you for event related plots. under the cut are basic ideas of where my muses minds are at and whether or not they will be involved in any way.
for all muses: i'm up for any or all of my muses getting injured or injuring others (purposefully or not).
anya jenkins: self-preservation will kick in almost immediately. they will be hiding or seeking out someone she has gotten close to who are more fit for combat. most likely, though, they'll be trying to find a way to get the hell out of dodge as it's very much their mo.
ji euntak: she will be out there, jumping in front of swords (metaphorical or literal) aimed at friends, family, strangers. basically willing to save anyone, the self-sacrificial type that she is.
lorelai gilmore: being an extremely privileged upper middle class woman whose biggest hardship was being a single, teen mom (which, granted, was difficult), this will be her first experience with such violence outside of watching it. but mama bear instincts will kick in and she'll be doing whatever it takes to search for/protect rory.
lydia martin: her banshee abilities are really going to go haywire. she'll be drawing strange pictures, finding dead bodies, and maybe have her first scream / wail ? outside of trying to deal with that, she is also part of the fbi so she'll be working out who the killer(s) is/are. definitely would love for her to find bodies as it's kind of her thing, but obviously would not be something we'd know at this very moment. soo feel free to just say 'if my muse dies lydia can find them' and if it happens then i'll include it in her threads and what have you.
nam onjo: she's pretty unfazed by everything and just trying to get through each day. anyone sus will be tased and/or pepper sprayed first and asked questions later. ** new addition: she sees an opportunity to make a quite a bit of money by basically being a errand person for those in hiding. so hit her up on the taskrabbit-esque app if you need some takeout delivered or more alcohol or whatever. there's an injury/death tax so it'll be pricey but at least your muse won't have to take the risk themselves!
sabrina spellman: another self-sacrificial one, but she's going to actively fight people who mess with her loved ones as well as try to figure out who the culprit(s) are. she's been practicing her magic so she'll use that for defense. and, just like riding a bike, she might spout out some more powerful and dangerous spells that could cause injury.
tatia: no stranger to death and chaos, tatia knows how to protect herself. she'll likely stay in her studio or apartment and avoid everything. maybe she'll go to some trusted people/friends because safety in numbers and all. but she is definitely not going out of her way to help anyone or solve anything.
tinker bell: tink is still learning how to use a cellphone and now she has to avoid murderers? how annoying. the fairy is not about that and will fly away from threats. possibly goad and be a little brat about it tbh. she's also learned a bit about capitalism and the whole supply and demand thing, so she'd be willing to sell a bit of pixie dust so your muse can also fly (limited, so far 1/3 taken).
**** new muses
brenda bates: she is enjoying the chaos but feigning disgust and sympathy for the victims. she is likely having a house party or attending one because she's from the 90s and that is what they do in the face of a crazy serial killer being on the loose.
one specific plot idea i have for 1 unlucky muse is for her to injure them while in her hooded mask (image). with all the chaos, her crime will just get lost in the sea of others. however, her crimes emulate urban legends so i can give you a small list or if you have one in mind feel free to send it to me.
chloe decker: she will be investigating. she is not only trying to figure out who the culprit(s) is/are but why this was happening. she's from la so she is familiar with serial murders and strange happenings. but these sudden bursts scream otherworldly doing. she would know since she has spent time with the devil, a demon, and an angel.
#hwevent15#hw: plot call#death mention tw#murder mention tw#injury mention tw#|| if this is absolutely incoherent i'm so sorry#it's 6:30am and i haven't slept yet

❛ what aren’t you telling me? ❜ (Lorelai & Bella)
"Nothing," Lorelai spoke, emphasis on the word given as she shook her head. She was many things but a good liar, not one of them. Ocean irises diverted themselves from the other, digits picking at her nails before her gaze returned to Bella and she released a soft groan. "Why didn't you give me a heads up that Brooks was in town," she questioned. "I could've used way more time to prepare for a potential run in with him than I got. I was avoiding him for a reason."

When Lorelai calls Rory in "Last Week's Fights, This Week's Tights" and tells her that Jess is in town for the wedding, there isn't really any new information given to the audience. Viewers already know that Jess is in town (and that he still has feelings for Rory to the extent that he is willing to read saccharine advice books from his uncle to help him learn how to communicate), and they already know what happened the last time Rory saw him. (Rory told Lorelai about the "I love you" at some point, so that is notable.) It's arguably similar to the scene with Dean and Jess at Doose's Market in this episode where the audience already has all of the conferred information but a point is being made to show a character learning something.
What is interesting here is that Rory seems okay with Lorelai talking about Jess and invites her to share if anything significant happens. It's difficult to tell because Rory usually tries to deny how strongly Jess affects her, especially when she is talking to Lorelai, but judging from her reaction it seems like maybe Rory would have been alright with seeing him. She was planning to go home the day of the wedding, knowing that Jess would be there, before Emily introduced her to Graham. Avoiding Jess could have been part of Rory's reasoning for deciding to go out with Graham and his friends, but the fact that Rory is questioned about her social life multiple times in this episode could be the more significant motivating factor.
Rory's resolve to be stoic in her heartbreak ends up harming her because she never really grieves losing Jess; she just keeps repressing her feelings until she tries to rewrite history. Talking things out with Jess might have helped both of them process their feelings in a healthier way and given Rory the stability to avoid the Dean nostalgia trap. Jess appears to want to have an actual conversation with Rory both times he sees her in S4 ("Can we sit down?" / "I just wanted to see you, talk to you"), but this is all so fragile for him that any obstacle easily sends him into a tailspin.
Tragic stories so often have numerous little moments that endlessly haunt the audience. If something happened slightly differently, what (if anything) would have changed? It is interesting to think about what would have happened if Rory and Jess saw each other in Stars Hollow at the end of S4. Rory was ambivalent about going out, what if she went home instead? Luke invited Jess to stay for a couple of extra days, what if he did? Being around Luke might have kept Jess more grounded, and Rory wouldn't have been as caught off guard because she knew Jess was in town. Perhaps Jess would still have flown off the handle out of desperation if he saw Dean with Rory, but that is a possibility Jess would have been more prepared for in Stars Hollow than at Yale. The potential for some sort of healing, even if it wasn't a full reconciliation, was there. The "what ifs" of tragic romances are so captivating.

"You'd be surprised how much people reveal about themselves when they're in private," Lilith informed her with the voice of experience. She had, over the millennia, been required to spy on any number of people, watching them when they were alone to learn their secrets, their weaknesses, whether to exploit or defend them. And no matter what kind of person any of her subjects were they all revealed something, one way or the other.
Leaning against the wall of the alley with a lazy boredom, Lilith cocked her head a little in quiet curiosity when something caught her interest. "Locked you in the attic?" She repeated. "You spent most of your time in that room? No one else was...submitted to the punishment?"
It seemed to Lilith that Lorelai was as desperate to avoid answers as she was to get them, switching her mind in an instant between determination and defeat. She privately wondered just which part of the girl was her honest self, what she really and truly wanted, and whether it was fear or resentment that was making her hesitate. Either way, Lilith had no intention of coming this far, of involving herself, only for it come to nothing.
"Country club," she repeated flatly. She sighed heavily before pushing herself away from the wall, standing up straight, and walking over to Lorelai to look at her pointedly, her gaze unavoidable. "You can take blood out of him?" She was unwilling to watch her potential brother behind the safety of a cloaking spell, and yet there was clearly an undeniable enthusiasm to steal his blood in the broad light of day. Perhaps there was more familial resentment than she'd heard Lorelai admit to.
"I never draw blood with a syringe," she added with a devilish expression. Most times when she had required blood it had been at the careless cost of their life, or, on the occasions where she needed only a little or where she wished to keep the person in question alive...a nail or a blade cut across the skin more than sufficed. "But we'd need enough to fill a small vial. If we're to be certain of the spell's results."
She didn't know why she was so afraid to get caught suddenly. Maybe the inherent fear of being judged. What if this was her last living blood relative? She suddenly felt relieved when she heard and felt the flames rise. She closed her eyes as she opened them, calming herself a bit. She swallowed as she could clearly see the irritation and disappointment in Lilith's expression.
Lorelai sighed disappointed in herself as well. ❝I know, I know but then what? Watch the guy's eating habits? Grooming himself? What if he's the type who just comes home to eat and sleep then off his merrily little way?❞ she asked, shaking her head. ❝There's no way I can tell if this guy is my brother. Heck, he might not even remember having a sister, considering half the time I was locked away in the attic,❞ she said raising her hand.
Even worse what if this guy wasn't and she just breaks into some Warlock's house and confuses the heck out of him. She scoffed as she sat down on a plastic milk carton nearby. ❝I don't know, Lil. I'm sorry I got you involved in this,❞ she said bitterly propping her elbows on her knees and placing her jaw in her hands. ❝Actually, there was the country club...wait you say we just need his blood?❞ she asked suddenly interested.
❝I can totally do that!❞ she said standing up excitedly. ❝I mean I can just kind of grab some out of him but half the time I did that I ended up injuring the person....badly. So maybe a needle's worth, a knife's worth? Heh, maybe you can just conjure a syringe. How much blood are we talking about here?❞ she asked Lilith sternly, thinking of weapons and methods she could use to slice or stab the guy to get some crimson water. ❝Besides I mean he's some magic person he can probably heal himself,❞ she decided to add with a shrug.

So I find it interesting that in the last few years of the show we know almost nothing about how Rory processes the break-up with all three boyfriends.
After Dean dumps Rory for the third time because he realizes they have nothing in common anymore, I don't think we hear anything about him from her side other than telling her therapist that the affair was a bad idea (obviously). The last time we see Dean he's angry at Rory for wanting to move on from Stars Hollow and insisting to Luke that Lorelai will do the same for him and we... essentially never hear anything about him in the OS ever again. In AYITL, he's married, has a gazillion kids, seems emotionally stable for a change, and doesn't seem to resent Rory or idealize their relationship as much as she does. They've obviously run into each other from time to time and they're not bitter. What does Rory think about how all of that ended? I guess we'll never know, because ASP bizarrely thinks Dean was perfect. Whatever! Moving on.
Logan is even more of a question mark. Rory doesn't seem to take their breakup particularly hard, even though he blindsided her with a proposal and refused to accept any sort of compromise. Maybe she figured that their breakup was in some way inevitable as they went through this milestone and moved into adulthood? Who the fuck knows, because in AYITL she seems to be a complete commitmentphobe in every sense of the word (not just romantically) and they're having an affair that definitely looks like a relationship at times but invites no self-reflection from either of them. They don't talk about their relationship and both seem to have accepted they'll never have a real one again or move onto anything deeper and....lol, no one knows why? Do they love each other? Do they regret how things turned out? Would Logan be willing to leave his life behind and give it a go? Does Rory want a relationship with anyone, period? Does Rory even care about him as a person, since she seems to know absolutely nothing about his life and I'm not sure she....wants to? (Seriously. Compare how she interacts with Dean and Jess and seems genuinely interested in what's going on with them). I guess we'll never know any of this either.
Jess is a different scenario because Rory meets him again during the OS and we have an entire year and a half in which her demeanor towards him drastically changes. He leaves town and she's hurt, but claims to have moved on: during their two brief interactions in season 4, he avoids her, confesses his love for her on two separate occasions with zero context, and she's still so pissed at him she could spit nails in his direction and wants nothing to do with him...and runs into the arms of married Dean because she sees him as genuine and safe.
When Rory meets Jess in season 6, she's clearly not angry at him anymore: she's nervous, genuinely interested in his life, proud of his accomplishments, wants to spend time with him, gushes about how she always knew he could do something great because he was so smart and had so much potential. He gets into a fight with her boyfriend and her sympathies are absolutely towards him, not Logan.
Obviously it would be weird if she were still angry, but what changed, specifically? Is it because after her dalliance with Dean she's less inclined to judge him for how he hurt her? Did moving on with Logan (I don't think she ever really loved Dean again) help her finally process all that hurt and anger? Did Jess just obliterate all of her hurt feelings with his charm, maturity, and artfully arranged coiffure?
I guess it was a combination of all these things, but this is the first time in a long time that Rory shows him a lot of respect as a *person* as opposed to someone who frustrates her one minute and delights her the next. She doesn't have to spend her time defending him, because he doesn't need to be defended anymore. And not only is he the person to drag her out of that hole she's sinking in, she lets him.
Then we move onto the open house at Truncheon, where Rory....behaves badly, to put it mildly. I don't think she went there with malicious intentions. She was genuinely proud of Jess and wanted to see him and spend time with him. Still, it's got to be one hell of a blow, for her to show up on a night that was important to him, let him believe he still has a chance with her romantically and that she was single, and then to confess that she's still in love with the other guy and he's only a distraction. What stands out to me about that scene is that Jess flat out tells her that he doesn't deserve to be treated like that while Rory is in the middle of apologizing. While I think that romantically the door was closed for the time being after that incident, Jess doesn't appear to resent her or lash out, and Rory knows that SHE'S done wrong, that SHE hurt him, and she's sorry. She might not love him again like he wanted her to, but she cares about him, she respects him as a person, and she doesn't want to see him hurt. I don't think we have seen her have that attitude towards Jess for years and years.
Does she respect Logan as a person at this exact point in time? I would have to say no. She seems to feel zero guilt about running around on Logan, even if she can't bring herself to go further. She flat out says she's in love with him but he deserves to be hurt (ouch). She only grows tender towards him after he nearly dies. She might love him, but this relationship is not exactly bringing out the best in her.
Season 7 is a different story (I definitely think Rory respects that version of Logan) but since this is ASP's story, we have to return to her fatalism and her belief that Logan can never, ever change, because then he won't be able to ruin Rory's life and effectively crush all her hopes and dreams with his super sperm. Meanwhile, she clearly still respects Jess: not only is his advice the only advice she is willing to take, but she's clearly still involved with him on this writing project afterwards and as a member of her extended family. And shouldn't you, in the end, seek a partner you actually respect as a person, as well as love? Shouldn't you actually....like them?

Questions for any/all/however many of your OCs because I'm bored and curious.
How have they changed throughout their development? (I don't mean in-character --- like how do they differ now from the previous versions? How are they different now from the very first time you thought of them?)
How would the story differ if a character/s were in the position (societal, emotional, etc, any or all) of other character/s?
What's something (or multiple things) that they'd never, ever tell anyone?
What's something they'd never tell anyone, but really want to?
What do they think of when they hear the word "home"?
Are they religious? What are their thoughts on religion?
ooooo this is so much fun thank you for sending!!! okay!!!
1.) How have they changed throughout their development?
i wanna say that delta has been pretty watertight since inception. the story was created with him in mind. honestly i didnt always know where the plot was going and a lot of that was improvised, but his character and the way he reacts to things are fundamentally what holds the whole thing together. living weapon-whistle blower dichotomy was always there. thats my boy :)
paris and lorelai were both like. they invited themselves in and havent left basically id say that was their effect on the plot. ive said this a lot but the early paris characterization is kinda weak, he was just meant to be a kind of controlling and cruel whumper. and he was always supposed to be close to delta in age. that was basically it. i feel like the first time i really "got" him was when i wrote him in Moonshine blacked out and sobbing on the floor. and even now when i reread it im like. Oh there he is.
lorelai i guess ive also had her characterization down for a while. she has a good heart and despite her sheltered upbringing she has a very strong revolutionary spirit! shes kind of an idealist and she has a really rigid moral sense which is a good contrast to paris's ability to justify literally anything.
i planned to write rubies before crash out or to have crash out be like. a side story to rubies. but i remember the exact moment i realized when i wanted to do with paris and lorelai and it hit me in the head really hard. i was like. they neeeeeed to do fear and loathing in las vegas.
2.) How would the story differ if a character/s were in the position (societal, emotional, etc, any or all) of other character/s?
gonna hold my tongue on this one because the roleswap/princess delta AU is coming!!!!! no spoilers hehehehe
3.) What's something (or multiple things) that they'd never, ever tell anyone?
hmmmm. i feel like delta would really try to avoid talking about times where he was like. gleefully and proudly complicit in hurting and destroying other people. "glee" is definitely a strong word but he takes pride in his work and he knows hes the fucking best at it. he really enjoys the dopamine rush of hitting targets on a purely mechanical level and he enjoyed being The Favorite at the institute. hes knows its wrong now but at the time? he lived off the validation.
one thing lorelai would never tell anyone is that she thinks the living weapon thing was hot.
lorelai: omg poor delta :(((( thats so sad lorelai: it shouldve been me
while lorelai is pretty morally upright she defintiely has a thing about violence and control CTRL. lorelai is a foil to paris but she is a parallel to delta and i think she also really really wants to feel useful in the same way he can be. this doesnt mean shes okay with what paris did to him AT ALL but she is very. captivated by the concept to say the least.
4.) What's something they'd never tell anyone, but really want to?
i cant think of anything tbh! lorelai is mostly an open book and she says what she's thinking. if delta felt strongly enough about anything to confide in someone, and he felt safe to do so, i think he'd cave to that too. i feel like i should have an answer here for paris because he's definitely in the business of "i can't admit this even to myself" but i think if he really wanted to say something he would just say it. i dont think any of them are really good at keeping secrets.
5.) What do they think of when they hear the word "home"?
paris thinks of thales, which is silly. it's not like he ever spent that much time there.
loreali thinks of absalom! she loves her home and its kind of incredible she ever left. she made a big sacrifice doing it and she doesnt regret it but she does get homesick a lot.
delta has no immediate associations and that is something that definitely eats at him. minor spoilers for rubies i guess but he will eventually come to associate Galatea -- and especially Levon -- with home.
6.) Are they religious? What are their thoughts on religion?
i think it would be funny here to say lorelai's family is southern baptist. delta was raised atheist and in fact i think Martino was probably a total snob about it and made him read Space Richard Dawkins. none of them are particularly spiritual but paris and lorelai are both weirdly superstitious. paris believes in the afterlife.
destroyer does not have good religious lore but i did once canonize Space Catholicism so i could make a dick-sucking joke

heya!! I just discovered your blog and love it, especially since I’m currently watching GG for the first time personally :)
Currently about to start s4 but also kinda avoiding it bc I have a pretty good idea of what happens in one particular storyline but anyways-
My question is, what’s one of your favorite parallels in the show?
One of mine has to be the tux parallel between Dean and Jess but I’m curious on yours!
alright i have thought long and hard for months (literally) and i have finally come to the conclusion: windows.
in my opinion, windows are used as a tool in the show, and they are never unintentionally placed. jess gazing at rory at the end of ayitl, luke and lorelai catching waving through the diner windows post-breakup, watching rory hesitate over and over talking to jess from inside the diner while jess does the same. all of these instances, and more, show a scene where the characters could talk, but there is something bigger preventing them from doing so. it materializes itself in the form of glass. you can see the other person, you could almost reach out and touch them, but there's something invisible in the way.

open to: anyone
plot: lorelai’s long time partner just broke up with her while she was at work, waiting for her boss to return (preferably a single parent, but doesn’t have to be) so she can go home. (she’s a nanny, whether she lives in the house or not can be up to you). maybe they cheer her up, maybe they come on to her. idk, she’s vulnerable rn. use it!
lorelai lounged on the couch, eyes puffy and swollen from the tears she had not been able to stop from falling. she’d be lying if she said that she never saw this coming, but she certainly didn’t expect it to happen this way. over the phone was so cold. she had seen herself marrying this person, spending the rest of their life together. after putting the kids to bed a bit early, the young woman had retreated to their living room couch for the evening. all she wanted now was to return to her bedroom, wine bottle in hand. lorelai could hear her boss opening the front door, a wave of relief washing over her. she sat up quickly, wiping her eyes one last time, knowing she’d need to move quickly to avoid any questions. as they walked into the living room, the blonde stood up.
“hey – the kids are in bed. it was quiet, they were good,” she began a quick run down of the night, looking around for her phone as she did, “i did some dishes and the laundry was started. i’ll see you tomorrow?” lorelai finished, grabbing her phone from between the crack of the couch and stuffing it into her back pocket.

what’s the difference between tp/fp when they do experience emotions, how do they respond to it or the telltale signs? does fp know immediately what their feeling and go somewhere alone to make sense of them?Is there a difference between a 7 and fp locating their emotions, can they still locate them even though their a 7, since 7 is avoidant of any emotion making them seem detached? can a tp feel others emotions for example if someone is sad they feel sad too and possibly end up crying with them or comforting them to feel better? an estp friend started crying with me when I was crying because they felt sad when they saw me and sometimes won’t be around others who are upset because they end up feeling bad and letting them get away with things that aren’t good. but wouldn’t an fp be sad too if their friend is sad or is it more of thinking about how they would react if their in the same situation as them and that’s why they react the same way they do? One last question, when learning something and receiving errors but also know why there’s an error and know it’s because either this or that which helps to quickly fix it, ti? knowing how to operate a program easier because its a similar program to one you did before, thus making it faster for you to learn, since you’re comparing the two and using what you know on the other program on the new one, Ne?
what’s the difference between tp/fp when they do experience emotions, how do they respond to it or the telltale signs?
That depends on the type, to be honest. IFPs know instantly if something makes them upset and/or what they feel about it, even if they can't really put it into words, and they usually shut down and/or go away to be alone and sort through these inner emotions. ITPs do not pay much attention to their emotions and often see them as 'irrational' bouts of angst. ETPs can usually address their feelings promptly and sometimes need to process them aloud with other people or be guided to an emotional understanding, whereas EFPs tend to act on their feelings but also withdraw to process them alone.
does fp know immediately what their feeling and go somewhere alone to make sense of them? <-- Yep, anywhere in the stack
Is there a difference between a 7 and fp locating their emotions, can they still locate them even though their a 7, since 7 is avoidant of any emotion making them seem detached?
Lorelai Gilmore in Gilmore Girls is an excellent example of a high Fi who is also a 7. She is highly emotional and emotionally reactive, but also avoidant of any sad feelings and inclined to refuse to face them. Her emotions as a Fi are often to withdraw from people (go hide in her room or upstairs) and/or to run away (get in her car and just drive even if she's supposed to be getting married this weekend). Do they seem detached? Sometimes. They can also seem flippant.
can a tp feel others emotions for example if someone is sad they feel sad too and possibly end up crying with them or comforting them to feel better? an estp friend started crying with me when I was crying because they felt sad when they saw me and sometimes won’t be around others who are upset because they end up feeling bad and letting them get away with things that aren’t good. but wouldn’t an fp be sad too if their friend is sad or is it more of thinking about how they would react if their in the same situation as them and that’s why they react the same way they do?
Mirroring (crying because someone else is crying) can be inter-type related, but feelers often feel moved to emotions and respond to emotions more readily than thinkers; although thinkers can also reflect someone's mood (if using relatively high Fe) and feel sad with them, yes. For a Fi, it's more sorrow FOR them, and not that they are feeling what the other person is feeling, unlike a Fe type who can genuinely feel their anguish. Fi does have to self-insert, yes, but it happens unconsciously and they aren't often aware of it.
One last question, when learning something and receiving errors but also know why there’s an error and know it’s because either this or that which helps to quickly fix it, ti?
Usually, yes. Especially if you have created an inner framework of understanding -- this is comparable to this other thing which I have learned from the inside out, so I think I know how to fix this also.
knowing how to operate a program easier because its a similar program to one you did before, thus making it faster for you to learn, since you’re comparing the two and using what you know on the other program on the new one, Ne?
Also Si. Familiarity with a similar process.

chapter i
pairing: bakugou katsuki x fem!reader
warnings: cursing.
word count: 3k
summary: the internet is enamored with the idea of y/n l/n and bakugou katsuki, two renowned pro heroes, dating. the first issue? the pair rarely interacts. the second issue? apparently, they hate each other, not that anyone knows about that bit. of course, after one night of many mistakes, the whole world knows.
series masterlist
Y/N’S HEAD IS POUNDING when she wakes up the following day. Her hand coming to rub her temple as she attempts to soothe the throbbing of her own head, the light just barely seeping through her blinds already feels like too much as she rises up in her bed. Blinking a few times, Y/N’s eyes adjust to the light and she sighs, stretching her arms upwards and almost wincing at the sound of her bones cracking.
You’d think that a Pro Hero wouldn’t have such issues, and yet.
Coming to a stand, Y/N hisses at the feeling of her cold floor, frowning before she makes her way towards the hallway and rubbing a hand against her eye. She catches a look of herself in the mirror, hair amiss, makeup that she’d applied from the night before still on— and yet her eye bags seem to have grown. If Y/N is honest, she looks and feels like a mess.
That should be a given though, seeing as she couldn’t even remember how she’d gotten home last night. Though Y/N was sure the news would detail any screw ups she’d made. Sighing as she grabs the TV remote from the coffee table by her couch and clicks the TV on.
“You’re fucking kidding me.” She mumbles out when the TV turns on to reveal that she is in fact the headline, alongside Bakugou Katsuki.
Almost on cue, a set of rapid knocks sound against her door and Y/N already knows who it is, again.
It was an accident, Y/N hadn’t meant to get blackout drunk at a literal Gala filled with several respectable and admirable peers from the Pro Hero world. And she certainly hadn’t meant to speak poorly about one of those peers— well, if she could really call Bakugou that at this point. After all there was a reason she spoke poorly of him.
“He’s an— an ill-mannered, rude, insufferable—” Y/N inhaled deeply as she looked to Lorelai, gesturing her hands vividly as she finally said, “bastard!”
Lorelai stands with a hand pressed against her temple, rubbing it gently as though that would end the headache that Y/N had probably caused with her shenanigans. “I warned you.” She mumbles out before reaching into her pocket and pulling out her phone as Y/N continues to drone on about the young man.
“I ran into him and I was filled with complete and utter rage. Did I do a few questionable things? Yes. Do I regret them—” Y/N sighs, bringing her hands to her face as the news plays in the background before saying, “I do.”
If Y/N was honest, she wasn’t remorseful at all, not when it was Bakugou they were talking about. But she was embarrassed, she’d acted out like a child and there was no denying it. As much as she disliked the idea, a public apology was probably necessary and a private one to Bakugou was the least she owed him.
Currently Y/N L/N and Bakugou Katuski were on every headline and front page there were, all because Y/N had elected to get a little too drunk and start talking trash about Bakugou. In the world of Pro Heroes, her word carried a lot of weight, so although it was unprofessional, Y/N had a feeling it was Bakugou’s PR team that was panicking right now.
"You’re trending.” Comes Lorelai’s words, a hand coming to scratch the back of her neck awkwardly as she looks back up at Y/N, “I suppose that’s good.”
Y/N had a feeling the people who shipped her with Bakugou were rather devastated upon finding out that the (non-existent) couple that they idolized yet had zero interaction actually hated one another. “Maybe they’ll stop thinking Bakugou and I would ever enter a relationship now.”
Raising a brow, Lorelai looks up to her, typing away at her phone without looking at the keyboard as she replies, “actually they’re shipping you with Pro Hero Deku. They caught quite a few pictures of you two dancing together last night.” Lorelai’s eyes returned to her screen, squinting as she mumbled out, “the Bakugou shippers are disappointed, but they’re still going strong. Something about… enemies to lovers?”
Y/N groans in annoyance, it was beginning to become abundantly clear that nothing good was going to come of this. Not that she expected such a thing, but a girl can hope. With a sigh, she shakes away those thoughts, pushing them to the back of her mind as she looks to Lorelai, “what are we going to do?”
“I am going to speak with Bakugou’s publicist, and set up a meeting.” Comes Lorelai’s response, bringing the phone to her ear as she made her way towards the door for more privacy.
Y/N looked to her publicist, brows furrowed, “I don’t want to meet with Bakugou.”
Rolling her eyes, Lorelai gestured to the TV as she replied, “we don’t have much of a choice do we?” Sighing, Lorelai stares at the ringing phone before saying, “you can’t let your issues with Bakugou interfere with your career— you two were bound to work together at some point. Whether you wanted to or not.”
Y/N can easily pick up on the underlying words as Lorelai steps out the door, she’s essentially telling her to suck it up. And though Y/N recognizes that she is absolutely and completely correct— that she unfortunately cannot allow Bakugou’s existence to interfere with her career, that doesn’t mean she can’t be upset about it.
And besides, avoiding him had gone perfectly fine up until now. Y/N was still wondering what had possessed him to actually attend a public event. Last she’d checked, the boy hated them with a passion, and most of the time they only further damaged his reputation.
Last night was only more evidence of that fact.
“You’re right.” Comes Y/N’s words, sighing dejectedly as she sinks further into her couch. “Let me know how it goes.” Even Y/N could recognize that there was no other choice, and well— she had to be mature and realistic about this.
Lorelai steps away, and Y/N finds herself glad that she can’t hear whatever it is the woman is saying as she straightens her posture, sitting up as she crosses her legs on the couch to watch the news.
“Famed Pro Hero Y/N L/N was caught expressing her true feelings for Bakugou Katsuki, and they certainly weren’t what fans were hoping for.” The woman on the screen leans back in her seat, moving out of the way to gesture to the screen behind her, as she opens her mouth to speak again, Y/N finds herself grabbing the remote and changing the channel with a glare towards the reporter.
Not that it was her fault, Y/N had a feeling if she had a job with any news station right now, this story would mean everything for her career. But she didn’t, she was a Pro Hero, and she had more important things to do— and even then, weren’t there more important things to report on?
The screen changes, and this time there’s another woman on the screen, a solemn look on her face as she leans forward on the desk with her hands clasped. “As the anniversary of the villain Stain’s incarceration grows near, civil unrest has begun to worsen. With another copy cat killer on the loose, it seem that people have once again taken to the streets to demand his release, or at least a change in his current life sentence for the murder of—”
Y/N shuts off the TV, grimacing at the reminder of her school years. Each year, crime would spike, so more Pro Heroes would set to work around this time. And each year, the number of casualties for Pro Heroes would practically triple because of all the people that tried to target them. This wouldn’t be the first Stain copy cat they’d seen, and it probably wouldn’t be the last. Most of them didn’t last this long though, caught by the police by their first attempt ideally, if not then their first kill.
Y/N had lost good friends to people like that.
Exhaling deeply, she comes to a stand, pulling out her phone to see she had several unread messages from Lorelai, all of which were in reference to the current… situation they were dealing with. There were— unsurprisingly— a few messages of concern from Izuku that Y/N can’t help but smile at. The boy had always been too kind for his own good. But what did confuse her were the messages from an unknown number, Y/N’s brows furrowed as she moved to open them.
UNKNOWN ???
It was only a single message, but it still leaves Y/N confused, few people had access to her number, and for some reason she finds it unnerving as she goes to delete the conversation.
BAKUGOU WISHED HE COULD FORGET the chaos that had been the night before. Alas, every moment was burned into his mind, especially that bit in which Y/N had cursed him out while drunk and maybe something about him trying to fight Deku but that wasn’t really anything out of the ordinary.
His eyes open to the sound of his alarm, and like clockwork— Bakugou rises from his bed and when his feet hit the floor he’s slipping on a set of house shoes instantly. He’d always been more of the type to live a methodical, routine like, life. Make the bed, cook himself a healthy breakfast if he hadn’t already meal prepped for the week, take a shower, get dressed, go to work. And then do it all over again.
Bakugou had never felt the need for any spontaneity, seeing as his job provided enough of that. Surprise, there’s a murderer on the loose. Surprise, the murderer targets heroes specifically. Surprise, it's a stain copycat killer. Surprise! He hates Pro Hero Ground Zero more than anything in the world.
The entirety of last night was not the type of surprise Bakugou was used to. Seeing as his phone is ringing as he tries to make his breakfast, and when he looks to see it’s his publicist— well, that isn’t really something out of the ordinary seeing as Bakugou seems to have a different “scandal” every week. But when the calls don’t stop coming...
Last night was a disaster, it didn’t take a genius to recognize that. Just anyone with a phone and some sort of social media, or a tv that had access to the news. Which was basically everyone nowadays. Bakugou liked to think that he had gone through worse, like when they caught him speaking poorly about Deku— although the boy had assured them that Bakugou meant no harm, and Y/N probably wouldn’t do the same.
Yeah, this was a problem.
Bakugou had a feeling that if he hadn’t been the person who hired him, his publicist would’ve cursed him out by now. Regardless, the man in question had remained… kind of calm. He was clearly on the verge of some sort of breakdown, staring Bakugou down like a hawk as he sat across from him— hands pressed together as they rested against his chin. The man had arrived shortly after leaving Bakugou about a dozen voicemails.
“How did you manage to piss off one of the most influential women in Pro Hero society?”
Despite being a newer Hero, Y/N had worked alongside several of the Top Pro Heroes already, probably because of her connections with Pro Hero Hawks and her own Charisma, making her one of the most likable of the next generation. That and the fact that she was regarded as a potential Number 1 Hero given the speed she was rising through the ranks.
Although Bakugou was sure this had damaged her credibility in some sort of way, he had no doubt she’d come back from this, even if he didn’t. After all, he wasn’t necessarily known for his award winning personality.
In response to his publicist’s question, Bakugou finds himself crossing his arms, shrugging before he replies, “beats me.”
Inhaling deeply, his publicist brings a hand to his temple, rubbing it rather harshly in an attempt to end the major headache that was coming on. “You have no idea? None at all—” One of the other PR assistants is standing beside them once more, the guy had been leaving and coming back for a while actually. This time he seems rather anxious though, “and what the hell do you want?”
“Well— well, sir. You see, we’ve been getting a call from—”
His publicist, Haru Ishida, as Bakugou had come to know him, appears to have a vein popping out of his head as he replies, “I don’t care which major news platform wants to hear what we have to say, tell them the same thing—”
“It’s Ms. L/N’s publicist!” The man cries out, hand pressed against the receiver of the phone to keep said woman from hearing their interaction, face flushed red in embarrassment as he stands straighter and adds, “sir.”
Haru’ jaw drops open as he immediately shoots up from his seat, snatching the phone from the assistants hand and bringing it to his ear before swiftly saying, “Haru Ishida, how can I help you?”
Bakugou gives the man a look, “put it on speaker.” He hisses out.
The man does as he’s told and a woman’s voice fills the room, “I think it’s more of how I can help you, Mr. Ishida.” A pause, “I’d like to set up a meeting between our clients. We can discuss more in person.”
“Hell no.” Bakugou says instantly, seeing as his little reunion with his former classmate yesterday had gone very poorly, Bakugou couldn’t really see a world in which another meeting with Y/N benefitted him in any way. Despite this, his words cause Haru to glare at him, opening his mouth to respond only for Y/N to beat him to it.
“Bakugou.” She muses, “both you and Y/N are experiencing blowback from this.” Comes her words, the sound of typing on the other end of the call as she continues, “but you need us more than we need you. I know Y/N will come back from this, with or without you. But can you say the same about your career?” There’s almost a subtle threat if you read between the lines and it leaves Bakugou cursing under his breath.
If Bakugou was right, this was Lorelai Flores, a renowned publicist though she was rather new to the game. As someone who aspired to be the best, Bakugou initially sought her out. She’d rejected his attempts at hiring her of course, which is why he’d ended up with the second best he could secure. Haru, who was currently inhaling deeply as he replied, “that can be arranged.”
“No it cannot—” Haru ignores Bakugou’s attempt at protesting, simply shooting him a glare before returning his attention to the call.
“Fantastic!” The woman exclaims, “perhaps it can be just you and I, Haru. Clearly our clients aren’t inclined to be anywhere near each other. Of course, if all goes well then I’m sure they’ll be seeing each other plenty.” The sound of a pen scribbling against a paper followed by, “pick me up at 7, you have my address.”
The call ends, and Bakugou’s brow is raised as he looks back to his publicist, who clears his throat before saying, “we’ll come to a consensus sir.”
Meanwhile, the PR assistant from before looks to Haru, “fraternizing with the enemy?”
“I can fire you.” Haru hisses in response, eyes narrowing at the boy before looking back to Bakugou as he straightens himself and collects the paper’s before him, “if you’ll excuse me, I need to prepare for my meeting with Ms. Flores.” He moves to leave, hovering by the door as he says, “by the way, I believe Pro Hero Red Riot is heading this way at the moment.”
Bringing his hands to his face, Bakugou groans, if he had to guess— Kirishima was going to lecture him, again. He finds himself coming to a stand making his way around the couch, he doesn’t bother to meet Kirishima the door since he’s already making his way inside. At the same time, Bakugou is left to watch as the rest of his PR team is exiting his apartment one by one, taking their equipment with them wordlessly.
And so, in comes Kirishima, a bright smile on his face as he calls out, “hey Bakubro!” Arms spread wide as he greets his friend, coming to wrap his arms around him. Although Bakugou doesn’t return the hug, he allows the physical contact.
“Hey shitty hair.” Comes his response, mumbled out as he is finally released from Kirishima’s grip. “What do you want?”
With a shrug, Kirishima, steps further inside Bakugou’s apartment, “I figured you might wanna talk—”
“Don’t wanna talk.” Bakugou interrupts, narrowing his eyes at Kirishima.
Nodding slowly, Kirishima offers him a tight lipped smile, a short silence encompassing them before he says, “but she said some intense stuff so I though—”
“No.”
“I can talk to her?
“Absolutely not.”
With that, Bakugou found himself wondering how this could possibly get worse at this point, of course, his question would soon be answered seeing as things could definitely get worse.
