Story:

Taking place after II 17, Meeple began to fall on hard times without the power from the Prime Shimmer. Thus, Cobs searched for a new way to improve Meeple’s products. Instead of looking for answers in space, he searched for answers underground, leading him to find an unknown substance called Ichor. Using the ichor, any and all creations that were connected to Melife could live without the program being unplugged or destroyed. The project was successful, spawning 31 experiments. However, 6 of them became unstable. One of them now roams the shadows around Meeple. It’s unknown what the future for Meeple holds from this point on, but Cobs hopes to make it work.

this will be very long and is just me yammering about the Gym Leaders' team builds. they are EVIL.

(my previous hyperfixation was on Kieran from the Indigo Disk DLC so i have a somewhat decent amount of knowledge on competitive stuff and game mechanics to absolutely ruin someone's day :D)

SO ANYWAYS.

the whole point of Gardenview here is to act like a Gym Challenge but for Trainers who like suffering want an extra challenging kick to it

this means that, even on the lower end of things, the Gym Leaders are going to ABSOLUTELY WHOOP ASS

Cosmo is a Fire specialist, and is the first Gym Leader, meaning he's got only a few Pokémon at really low levels. This means nothing because his first Pokémon is a Darumaka with Hustle and Flare Blitz. If it can hit, that Flare Blitz is 100% going to OHKO. And his second Pokémon is a Heat Rotom holding Charcoal and the moves Will-O-Wisp, Thunder Shock, and Overheat. just because :)

Looey is a Flying specialist, and his team is rather unassuming: his lead is a Hoppip with Leech Seed (annoying), then a Serene Grace Togetic with Ancient Power (okay, a little scary), and then his ace is a Drifblim holding a FLAME ORB, which activates its Flare Boost ability and DOUBLES ITS SPECIAL ATTACK STAT. Those Shadow Balls gonna huuurrrttt

Finn is the Water specialist, and all of his Pokémon have Swift Swim to reference his Reel In passive ability. His Poliwhirl is also running Rain Dance to use when its HP is low so that rain is set up when his ace hits the field: Barraskewda. That fishy now has a speed stat of 272. AND ITS HOLDING A DAMP ROCK TO EXTEND THE RAIN. And its attack stat is 123, so it is absolutely TEARING through teams like they're wet paper

Gigi's next up and she's the Dark specialist, leaning more into her trait of being a thief rather than her gambling (but the Dark type Unova E4, Grimsley, is a gambler, so it works still). Her lead is a Purrloin with the Prankster ability, Hone Claws (for set up), Screech (to lower opponent defense), Sucker Punch (cuz fuck you), and Baton Pass (to pass along the stat boosts). It ideally wants to switch into her Weavile, which has the Pickpocket ability (hah) and Metal Claw to further boost its attack and rip through teams easily– if you can kill that, then her Weakness Policy Thievul comes out, hits a Nasty Plot, and sweeps with Snarl, Dark Pulse, and Psychic.

Connie is the Ghost specialist, and her team is rather generic, but her lead Misdreavus will startle you with Dazzling Gleam and Thunderbolt, using Wise Glasses to boost its damage output, and that Dusknoir of hers can eat attacks easily and dish out big time damage. Her ace is a Gengar holding Life Orb with Sludge Bomb followed with Venoshock and Hex that get boosted because of that poison status condition and also Dazzling Gleam for them Dark types.

As the resident Double Battlers, Scraps and Goob are the Normal type specialist duo, and they are NOT messing around. They lead with Smeargle and Grafaiai (painters who use their tail and hands respectively), and Scraps focuses on supporting her brother while he starts the asswhooping right out the gate. His Grafaiai holds a Grip Claw and leads with Fling, dealing 90BP and activating its Unburden ability, doubling its Speed and enabling Acrobatics to deal double damage. Smeargle knows Spore (honk shoo mimimi), Pollen Puff (heals Goob's mons), Decorate (boost Goob's mons attack stats), and Wide Guard (no spread moves for you). If you get knock those two down, out come their aces: Muscle Band Technician Ambipom (Scraps) and Blunder Policy Bewear with low accuracy moves and Stomping Tantrum (Goob). They are OUT FOR BLOOD AND THEY WILL GET IT.

Flutter is second to last and the Bug specialist, and Bug types may be defensively weak but Flutter is here to deal massive amounts of damage and nothing else. Her lead Golisopod and second-up Lokix both hold Eject Button and have the move First Impression, which means that if all goes well for her, these two will get to land SIX FIRST IMPRESSION ATTACKS. And then her Vikavolt hits really strong Thunderbolts, Bug Buzzes, and Energy Balls, and her Venomoth and ace Vivillion are set up sweepers with Quiver Dance, the latter of which utilizing its Compound Eyes ability to land nearly unmissable Sleep Powders and Hurricanes. She is NOT messing around and will beat your team into the dirt before you can get through half of hers.

And finally, our boy Glisten is here to show off with his beautiful Fairy types, ranging from Magic Bounce Hatterene with Psychic Terrain and Psyshock, to Serene Grace Togekiss holding a King's Rock and with Ancient Power to boost, Air Slash for flinch abuse, and Roost for longevity, and then finishing off with a Pixilate Sylveon with Calm Mind to set up and a now Fairy-type Hyper Voice to activate Throat Spray for bullshit levels of Special Attack boosting.

these 8 are here to absolutely destroy your team and really, only Cosmo feels bad about it lol

HELP ME??? I WOULD BE ***SEETHING*** (in a VERY GOOD WAY!!! I like challenges!!!) if I had to deal with these teams in game??? INSANITY. This is a challenge where you better be GRINDING before even the first Gym, dear god, I love it.

JESUS, ANCIENT POWER IS ALREADY AN ANNOYING MOVE BUT WITH LOOEY'S TEAM??? I would simply cry /silly. Okay I love the Barraskewda because omg I NEVER see Barraskewda being used (literally had to look up this Pokemon because even I hadn't ever heard of it before??) and that's so cool for Finn omg. I was assuming with Finn his ace would be smth like Wishiwashi simply because I had the WORST time with that Totem Wishiwashi when I played Sun/Moon (tbf I had trouble with a lot of the Totem Pokemon in that game but I was also just Not Very Good at the game back then lol), but Barraskewda would be so much cooler.

"Sucker Punch (cuz fuck you)" is the best way to describe the sucker punch move tbh, one of my biggest pet peeves when playing (it's annoyed me so much I don't even put it on MY Pokemon :sobbing:), Dark Type fits so well for Gigi though. Thievul my beloved from Sword/Shield, she would be excused from me getting mad at her fight simply because of that hjgfss. That seems like it would hurt BIG TIMEE.

SCRAPS' AND GOOB'S FIGHT SOUNDS AWESOME WHAT THE HECK??? You wouldn't expect much from Normal Type users usually but MAN you weren't kidding when you say they're out for blood, good GRAVY. Goob with Bewear is so fitting HJGFSS. Flutter is so me-core fr, not much for defense but just doing everything in power to give out as much damage as possible heheheh.

GLISTEN MY BOY :saluting_face: He's gonna deck my entire team and look pretty doing it hjgfsss. Out of all of these based on my experiences with Pokemon I think I'd have the worst times with Scraps + Goob, Glisten, Gigi, and Connie :sobbing: /positive. I love how all of these teams are ready to just shred your own teams to bits, including the first gym leader. If just the First 8 gyms are this brutal I can only imagine how bad the Mains + Dandy would be HJGFSS. You have no need to apologise for this being long it was so fun to read through??? AUGH I love it, I adore how well thought-out this is!!!

Hello! You can call me 🔍/Mag, I'm the sole mod on this blog :) You may refer to me with whatever pronouns you see fit! I will likely refer to myself using it/its, but I'm not picky

How the Blog Works

The premise is pretty much what the title says - I spin a picker wheel with every toon's name, and that's the toon of the day! People are encouraged to share any art, writing, or thoughts regarding the day's toon in the notes!

Each toon is given a weight of 100 on the wheel to start

Once a toon is picked, the chance for them to be picked again is decreased by 1 point - This is to try and avoid too many repeats in a row!

You may ask off anon to be pinged if a certain character is chosen! I will keep a list of who to ping for which character under the cut

Special Days

Release dates

On the anniversary of an update and for the next 7 days, any non-event toon who was released that day will have a boost of 10 to their chance to be rolled! Additionally, the day a new toon's name is released they'll be added to the wheel with that boost of 10, but due to the blog running on queue I can't guarantee that the boost will start on the release date every time!

June 14th-21st: Astro, Boxten, Brightney, Dandy, Goob, Pebble, Poppy, Razzle&Dazzle, Rodger, Scraps, Shrimpo, Toodles, Vee

There is a roughly 1% chance to roll for the toon of the day to be a twisted! If the picker lands on this option, I'll spin again for which toon's twisted form to use. Whether I'll use their model renders or edit the toon icon art to the twisted form is currently undecided!

Mod Bias

If one of a mod's favorite toons are rolled, the mod will try to include a small doodle on the day's post! This is not set in stone due to fluctuating motivation. Each mod can choose up to 3!

I have a high suspicion that someone who has been writing the twisteds research is a toon! Instead of a human here's why,

First off, why I think whoever's been writing the twisteds’ info is not a human because the way it's written, if you look at T!Finn info “Check your surroundings before completing Machines!�� Remember Gardenview was shut down in 2002, we don't know what happened to the human characters (Arthur Walto, Delilah Keen and the toon handlers) because we don't have enough evidence yet. It's safe to assume that; they seem too working with their fellow toons to extract ichor from the machines aswell.

In few researches it mentions the toon’s names (such as: Brightney, Finn, Flutter, Gigi, Goob (in T!Scraps’ info), Shrimpo, Teagan and Toodles) they seem to be close/friends with those toons (besides Shrimpo because he's a bully) to the point they written their names.

They seem to know how exactly their fellows' toon becomes twisted in most of the research. They're mostly written off as “This twisted is overcome by ichor” however in these researches (Astro, Cosmo, Shelly and Teagan) it's written off as “overcome by guilt, separate from his bff, enraged by being forgotten and greed” respectively. Meaning that they (probably) witness their friends becoming twisted.

In most of the research they seem to aid us in helping in terms of avoiding the twisteds, they probably experienced it (or possibly monitor) the twisteds before us! It is why I don't think Rodger isn't the one who's been writing it. Because if he did then we wouldny have his twisted description info even if he did, then it’ll be written differently in the first person.

I think this toon is against Dandy, like obviously his research info says “ The star of the show. The one who runs the Ichor operation. It's all his fault.”

And even in Pebble’s research “This ferocious Twisted will stop at nothing to defend his owner and protect his territory.” Clearly, Dandy isn't the one who's writing the research (although, Qwel confirms that Dandy is a morally grey character.) IF he really wrote the research then we wouldn't have his twisted info or different sets of pronouns because the keyword here “It’s all his fault” !! Rather than “It's all my fault” It's a third person rather than a first person.

However, I don't think this toon will be entirely good(?) Because they're helping us with what and what not to do around the machine while a few twisteds (Finn, Vee and Astro) are on the same floor with us while acknowledging that Dandy started the Ichor Operation. Shouldn't they be asking us to stop extracting the machines after they witness their friends becoming twisted?

But yet the Ichor Operation isn't entirely bad because ichor is the toon’s blood. But that will be another theory.

i've been trying to come up with nicknames that all the Gym Leader Toons give their Pokémon

some notable examples:

Cosmo's Darumaka is called "Dumpling"

Finn's Barraskewda is called "Barnaby Jr." (because he's clearly not the original Barnaby)

Gigi's Purrloin is "Pawkit" (pocket + paw + kitten), her Weavile is "Snaggle" (snag + snaggletooth), and her Thievul is Robin (robbing + Robin Hood)... they're all stealing puns hehehe

Scraps's Smeargle and Goob's Grafaiai are named "Brushstroke" and "Fingerpaint" respectively, being different painting techniques used by those Pokémon

Flutter's Pokémon all have single-syllable names (Dash, Bounce, Toxx, Charge, and Dust)... no real reason for it except like. butterfly of few words (mute)

and Glisten's Sylveon is named "Beau", meaning handsome in French Kalosian and also sounds like bow. haha. also his Rapidash is named Joyride. i could not stop myself. ITS PERFECT LIKE CMON
