me when I see a post I disagree with on tumblr dot com but I don’t wanna reblog it because it’s really just someone expressing their opinion and it’s years old anyway
[ID: A version of the man at a party “they don’t know” meme. It reads:
“They don’t know Spectre in the movie was already a merger between the place that had no name, a purgatory-like place just outside of Ashland, and the town of Specter, a cute town Edward buys just for the hell of it, and also that the story of the witch is a merger of the old lady with the glass eye and Jenny Hill, the girl who lives in a swamp and acts strange and crazy and mysterious after Edward leaves her with a broken heart, so that’s why they’re the same person in the movie. And also that John August wrote the book to the musical too and Daniel Wallace approved of his adaptations for both movie and musical.” End ID]

CANNOT BELIEVE IT'S TAKEN ME SO LONG TO REPLY YOU'VE ALREADY FINISHED THE SECOND MOVIE LOL BUT
I LOVE showing The Mole Song to people because it's like, love it or hate it, you can't possibly have a lukewarm reaction to it. I'm thrilled you liked it so much!!! Hong Kong Capriccio definitely has its moments and I'm glad you enjoyed it too; on that note, I haven't seen Final yet, and it doesn't seem to be hardsubbed online, but I was able to find a raw and subs separately. They seem okay from the scene I skipped to twenty minutes in but not positive lol
It really does set the tone early! I love the cutaway gags too The manga has a lot of absurd non-sequiturs and it was a fun way to adapt that to a new medium. As an adaptation as a whole, Undercover Agent Reiji in particular definitely has the tone down and I appreciate that it kept a lot of the Moments I liked.
Hiura had me from the blood oath… one of the guys of all time… despite how I sound from what I just said, I actually didn't even know there was a manga or a sequel when I first watched it, so I was SO relieved he survived the explosion. I was honestly 100% convinced he'd crash the plane at the end though lol, but I guess that ended up happening in Hong Kong Capriccio anyway?
BUT YEAH LIKE THE GUY JUST HAS A HYPERFIXATION AND I HAVE TO RESPECT THAT. Which, you know, in-universe, to have the whole butterfly motif and then dress your man up in florals… I repeat, Reiji was slaying in that dress… I love everyone's costuming in these movies. SPEAKING OF THE AUCTION, the PSP segment onward was insanely RGGcore wasn't it… good god……
It's kind of funny how little Reiji changes--I guess that's how you keep a manga going for like 900 or whatever chapters so far--because he'll pretty much Always have things he needs to figure out. Still very much fun to watch, though!
ALSO the drugs reminded me (I was expecting them to be In The Dogs too lol), shoutout to manga Tsukihara for having the exact same character arc as Mine and ending up an invaluable ally. Also getting to beat up Ryuji Leo (sorry my boy but Mine is overall the stronger combatant to me and I am tired of the Reddit-y discussions on the wiki saying otherwise </3). Living vicariously while Mine's status is still uncertain lol
P.S. I Too Treat Your Blog Like The Morning Paper and it means a lot to me to have the opportunity to write in and talk! I would also love to join a stream if you ever go for it!
P.P.S. NOOOOOOO PLEASE THE SLOW DANCING…….. UNWELL. I've imagined the same thing but at home… in the light of the refrigator… Jo is still tense as hell both because of the situation and it's such a waste of electricity and they really should close the door as soon as possible… but Arakawa insists if it's only for the duration of the song, it's fine……
YEAH THE MOLE SONG MOVIES WERE REALLY FUN thanks again for recommending it to me (I found out it had a manga series the moment I went to look it up, but I haven't read a lick of it. I'd say I'm surprised it's still running but I mean... manga like One Piece have over a thousand chapters at this point, so I shouldn't be too surprised. Maybe I'll give it a read sometime just to check out how the movies and manga compare-and-contrast with each other)!
1.) BIGGEST HONOR I'm glad my blog can entertain a lot of people (and a big part of that is due in part to people writing in and giving me a chance to chat a bit, so of course I always have to thank you and everyone else for sending me asks as frequently as you all do. They're absolutely the highlight of my day whenever I get the time to answer them ^^)!! I've always liked the idea of streaming (I've attempted to years back but I never tried again afterwards), though I always end up getting too anxious about it (plus I tend to get performance anxiety and I end up taking a lot longer to draw whenever people are watching me). I hope to get over that anxiety one day though- I bet it'd be fun to respond to people in real time or take quick doodle requests mid-stream :)
2.) AW THEM DANCING IN THE KITCHEN THOUGH I CAN SEE IT..... Jo being worried about the electric bill though that's so accurate..... I'll definitely think on the concept of Slow Dancing AraSawa with all the apparent enthusiasm around it.. I promise..
YAYA my friend (who made the post) told me a moment after I told her (also PLEASE I was so heinous reading the name- first thing I said to her aside from 'new movie night plan' was 'how many times does this man play a dude named 'Jo' ☠️☠️)! I wasn't able to find any recordings of the actual play (I know a trailer was posted last year so I don't know if they've actually performed live since then) but here's to hoping one day there's a recording of it posted somewhere...

AG implies something unfortunate in CF. In CF, the end of the war against TWSID sounded like a pyrrhic victory at best. In AG, we saw that Thales is willing to mind control Edelgard to keep her under his control. What if that was the great sacrifice made at the end of CF for the BE to win?
Edelgard's endings were vague enough to interpret it as her post-mind control. Her ending with Lysithea seems to support it too. Edelgard got back her "stolen years" of being young and free. She could have grown up mentally again into an Emperor but under the BE's influence.
The war-mongering Edelgard died in the war against TWSID. The mentally-a-child Edelgard was left to replace her and clean up with the BE.
Yeah, that would be awful if she killed Thales and was freed of the mind control, only to find out she killed her brother and a whole lot of other people. That's something she'd never be able to rectify just because her memories came back and people would hate her even if she didn't remember why or if she remembered why but couldn't do anything to bring back the people who died.
I did consider this might be the case for Houses, but I figured that probably wasn't the case because in AM, Thales is killed when stilled using Arundel as a disguise, but when Dimitri asks Edelgard to meet up with him, she's the same person before and after Thales dies (in chapter 19 when they defeat him in Deirdru).
It could be either inconsistency in Houses' routes' writing, they chose not to make those things canon in each route (so it could be the case in CF but not AM), or it's just a Hopes specific thing.
Actually while writing those posts I did think about adding it to the post, but I was like I'm not sure it's valid since in AM Thales dies the earliest per route (he dies later in the timeline in SS and in VW, so any mind control wouldn't be broken and Edelgard would've died before that could happen since she dies in both routes before Thales. In CF he doesn't die during the story at all so we couldn't see any aftermath directly).
Maybe since they wrote those endings the way they did, they decided to add some nods to them in Hopes. I feel like AM removed the possibility that Edelgard would regress to being twelve in Houses, but I think her memories were able to come back. In CF they don't come back even when she fights Dimitri, and Thales is still alive by then. Dimitri dies in SS and VW before either Edelgard or Thales, but in AM Edelgard remembers that she knew Dimitri as a child and Thales is dead by then.
It seems like there's definitely some level of memory altering that Thales used in both Houses and Hopes that was removed when he died in AM/AG, though Hopes might have taken it a step further and instead of just giving back her lost memories, she might have lost all her memories from her post-Faerghus childhood to the present.
We don't know for sure which it is of course, since she could still be the same Edelgard but just remembered the person she was warring against was her childhood friend, but with AG's ending it definitely supports the idea that Thales manipulated her memories and that her trauma wasn't the cause of forgetting Dimitri.
I think it's also worth noting that she remembers she was in Faerghus for a while but can't recall the name of "her first love" in her Goddess Tower conversation. It makes me think Thales specifically made her forget Dimitri so that she wouldn't have an attachment to him when the time came for her to start a war.
The thing is, Thales is smart and I'm sure he calculated things like how close the Kingdom and the Church were, if Edelgard wouldn't kill him if she knew they were friends, and that he specifically wanted her to forget her interactions with a Crest bearer since he wants the bloodlines wiped out. According to Houses, Dimitri was supposed to be killed at Duscur too, but I wouldn't think Thales just 100 percent expected him to die, like, I'm sure he had contingency plans if a Crest bearer survived that attack. I don't think he'd have all that planned out and have no backup. Since Rufus didn't have a Crest, it made it acceptable to use him to get him to kill Lambert and Dimitri, because Thales probably would want to kill anyone with the bloodline period (not just the ones who had Crests bc any of Rufus' children could've had Crests according to the bloodline lore), but Rufus wouldn't be an immediate concern and could be dealt with later.
Tbh I don't like CF/hate the way it ended between Edelgard and Dimitri because it left a bitter taste in my mouth how coldly she killed him even though he called her El. I guess it's possible she might not have heard it, but he wasn't whispering or anything so it was always weird to me how she killed him despite telling Byleth "nobody" since her "siblings" had called her that. If anyone else called her that I feel like she would have wanted answers and it'd be like a reverse AG where she wanted answers from Dimitri to understand what was going on.
Feels like missed potential imo for CF that could have made AG a parallel with him seeking her out for information.

Strange how people keep saying that "Shuro hates in Laios the same traits he supposedly loves in Falin", which is...
Seriously, look at him and his dialogue - does he hate Laios for being a monster freak? For being nerdy and weird and loving nature? For eating bugs? No, that's not it.
Shuro hates* Laios for being so profoundly socially inept (from his perspective).
The key difference between Touden siblings isn't that Falin is a pretty girl - the key difference is that Falin is caring and accommodating to other people, and Laios is awkward and unobservant, seemingly egotistic at the surface level.
(others have already written wonderful essays on why and how they grew up like that)
It has to be noted that Shuro is a sheltered noble from a land where proper etiquette is paramount - he is used to people being incredibly subtle AND incredibly observant around him. He comes from a high-context culture where everyone assumes things based on lots of social cues and shared understanding of context. That's not even a matter of being neurotypical, that's his culture (in addition to his personality and brain chemistry)
He is also rather introverted as person and doesn't have many friends. Even his attachments and emotions in childhood are expressed subtly, in a restrained and proper way. He is polite and refined, perfectly fitting into his house's expectations - even if that means repressing his childhood interests and little weird joys.
In that particular way, the opposite of Laios.
Shuro hates* Laios for being the opposite of the image HE was grown into. This strange man is so utterly insensitive and so open about it - he has no sense of shame (like Shuro), no tact and ability to shut up (like Shuro), no restraint (like Shuro). Look at him talking non-stop about things he wants to talk about and having fun (unlike Shuro) while completely overestepping Shuro's obvious boundaries!
The boundaries, I must say, that not only never before needed to be spelled out, but in Shuro's upbringing and culture would be as ridiculous to spell out as "I want to pee, so I'll go to the bathroom and remove my pants and sit on the toilet and release the sphincter holding my pee in my pee bladder"
Falin is not only awesome in his eyes for being weird and in touch with nature, but for being very delicate, observant and caring AT THE SAME TIME. She is a gem in Shuro's eyes, a miracle of his dreams.
In Falin, he not only sees a nerd-freak - he sees a hope for an introverted, polite, restrained person like himself to reconnect with that love for nature and nerdiness and freakiness.
Laios isn't like that. Laios is unobservant for subtle cues - and so a lot more loud, persistent, enthusiastic and unwittingly annoying. Yes, Falin has all that inside her too - but she restrains herself in order not to be a burden. And so does Shuro, in order to fit expectations. There's similarity between them in that regard, between two introverted and restrained weirdos. And a hope for a kindred, more open soul, from the more restrained Shuro's perspective.
* - I don't think Shuro's feelings to Laios are properly described as hate. Yeah, in his darkest moment he says that, but honestly it felt more like an accumulated stress from a continuous cultural and personal misunderstanding, rather than a profound personal hate.
...
What was the post about?.. Oh, yeah, Shuro loving Falin and disliking Laios. That's not him being too horny to think, that's him loving in Falin the defining difference between the two - they aren't gender-swapped clones, after all. Give my boy some respect and nuance.

Decided to look a bit closer into what changed about the way Alastor is animated (I liked it a lot more on some subconscious level and wanted to know specifically why), and one major thing I've observed outside of the artstyle being generally more consistent (in terms of line thickness and such) is that the lines of his mouth are sharper even when he is mid-sentence.
Pilot vs Show
Or when he is smiling but not grinning.
Pilot vs Show
His face is also generally less squishy. It felt strange for such an intimidating and refined character to be so... malleable. Generally I think the changes in the new animation style are a huge win.

Any ideas on the Bad Boys reactions to MC dressing up for a date?
Horror isn't one for dressing up. He feels like putting nice clothes on him is like putting lipstick on a pig. But... he likes when you dress up. He really really likes it; he hovers near you, breathing heavily and intently staring at every detail. You're eye candy to him, and when you dress up you look even more sweet, colours and smells that make him the good kind of dizzy. He could stare for hours. He does stare for hours. He's fighting the urge to bite you - he's also fighting the urge to attack anyone who looks at you too long. This is HIS pretty little human, anyone who gawks is losing their eyes.
Dust is normally such a tough nut to crack reaction-wise. It's always hard to tell what he thinks of things. His reactions are entirely internal, as minute as minute can get; unless you're like Nightmare and can literally read his emotions, it's very hard to know what's going on in his head.
That being said. When he sees that you dressed up for a date with him? He blushes very hard. He looks away, flustered, pulling his hood down over his face - for a moment there's a break in the seemingly endless clouds of his mood, and the sky is visible.
Although he acts like he's embarrassed, he really likes when you tease him about blushing. He doesn't always enjoy being so blank, so hard to read it drives away people he deeply cares for. It makes him feel better when you get little victories like that, moments where you 'broke' him; little reminders of how much he really loves you.
Killer, as mentioned in a previous ask, would delight in a partner who dresses up. He has a lot of fun putting together fashionable (slutty) outfits, and if you have something very nice for a date, he's absolutely going to coordinate with you. It's the perfect way to tell the world that you're together. Who needs bite marks? Give him a colour palette, some simple accessories, and half an hour. Everyone will see who you belong to.
Nightmare would love it. He might not say it aloud, but you'll see it in the way his eyelight rakes up and down your body and his voice gets significantly silkier. He sees you dressing up for a date as a high compliment; you thought about your date with him so much you decided to put in that extra effort. He doesn't get many gifts - all this is for him? You shouldn't have...
You'd expect him to want his partner to dress similarly to him. Though he does take great pleasure in you matching his refined tastes, he also just likes seeing you wear things that make you happy. Of course his beloved consort should wear whatever they please. You're his, and that makes you royalty. Royalty do what they like.
