Hands down one of the funniest things about tlh Valgrace is how badly Leo wants them to be in some sort of imbalanced rivalry/prince and stablehand situation but Jason just. Being way too nice for it to work?

GUYS I just finished the last archon quest and I'm having so many thoughts about capitano...

Imagine reader falling for capitano while hes staying in natlan, but they have a terminal illness (maybe even related to the abyss like atea's was). They don't want to be a burden to him, he has such important goals he has no choice but to reach and they dont want to waste his time, considering they're going to pass on soon anyways.

And capitano has feelings for the reader, but doesn't want to confess because he knows he's going to die in his deal with the Lord of the night, and even if that doesn't succeed, he's still dealing with too much from the souls he carries and his curse to properly have a relationship with them

So reader doesn't confess, and soon they end up dying from their illness, and they go down to the night kingdom for the afterlife, and guess who they find?

Fucking capitano.

And he's dead!! Well, not actually dead, but actually fused with the Lord of the night, which is somehow even more insane than if he was just dead.

And capitanos surprised cause he thought they'd get old with some random natlanese guy, and hed he stuck dead fused with the Lord but then he finds out they had a terminal illness all this time???

And so you two get to spend time you didn't think you'd have together in the afterlife, and it's really nice lol

Animorphs #11: The Forgotten thoughts (pt. 1):

Jake describes shrinking into falcon morph as "dwindling down like a fast-burning candle" (p. 14). You okay there, kid?

"Tobias came zooming up alongside us, zipping around like he'd been born a bird" (p. 16). I mean... y'ain't wrong, Big Jake.

This is one of those books that hinges on the whole idea that things break, even for space-people. Ships crash, because crashes happen. Random weapons malfunctions are a fact of life, if you carry weapons around. Shit happens. Even to alien invaders.

The whole first part of this book lends weight to my hypothesis that Jake is the most, like, aware of being mentally ill. He kind of just accepts that he's hallucinating, chalks it up to "Things I wish I'd never seen... things I'd done I wish I couldn't remember" and then goes back to planning the mission. Marco is the most aware the others are falling apart, that "One of us would snap" (#5), Cassie's the most conscious of the shifting team dynamics, and of course Tobias is the identified patient. But it's Jake who most openly accepts okay, I'm losing my mind; I'll worry about that later. "The good thing about rushing is it didn't give me too much time to think," according to Jake, "thinking meant worry, and worry gets in the way of getting things done" (p. 33).

Are there any facts regarding the Slumbering truth? I'm quite interested. How did Shadow treat Healer after realizing that he is getting attached?

Hmm I should start from the beginning here I think-

At first Shadow Milk was far from being nice towards Healer, treating him like entertainment and a toy, wishing to break him down or just venting out his frustrations (basically veeery toxic, poor Healer). Cause hey, this is someone who 'stole' his soul jam. And now this 'thief' is pathetic, weak and without memories, it'd be a shame to just crumble him or not play around with his prey. And Smilk still needs PV's memories back to have full powers, but he doesn't want to do it the boring way. He wants to see what his other half is capable of even in this weak state.

But of course, he got attached. Healer has struck something within him that no one dared to touch before, they had some things in common, Smilk started to see himself in that sweet Healer. And Healer started to act a bit differently too, instead of fearing him he'd smile at him, talk to him with genuine friendliness and even playfully smacked him with a staff a few times when he tried to intimidate him, the audacity! The lack of fear or blind obedience intrigued Shadow Milk until he realized he didn't even want that power so much, he liked Healer's company even if he found his kindness naive and foolish. He liked Healer a lot more than he dared to admit.

He didn't want Healer to regain his memories anymore. He didn't need the soul jam that much, his own half was more than enough to use his powers. After all if Healer remembered he'd surely leave him and he'd find out what a terrible beast Shadow Milk was. There's no way he'd be so kind after that and would be willing to stay, he'd most likely try to seal Shadow Milk away again and Smilk would be stuck for another millenia again. And Smilk already shared way too much about himself than the other should've known.

So he decided to act in the only way he knew, manipulate Healer into staying, trying to make sure Healer avoided anything that could trigger him to remember or make his soul jam resonate. He'd manipulate his current memories, make his dreams into nightmares just in hopes of making him stay. It should've been easy with how vulnerable Healer was to his influence.

..Unless Healer is not so innocent and oblivious as it might seem? Who knows..

So the recent alnst comic dropped and put the entire fandom on fire. But I do want to talk mischaracterization and how the alnst fandom has an abundance of it. Every fandom has it to various degrees because fans will always reach their own conclusions, how far it is from the creator’s intent differs from person to person. But alnst fans have such strong takes and everyone is so aggressive in being right. Two fans can have greatly different assumptions of a character. A big part of that I believe is because except for comics that give some context, most of its storytelling is done through visuals and songs.

Those are less concrete mediums. The meaning of a simple hand movement or lyric can be taken in differently from person to person. But I’ve always felt that as long as you understand alnst is not a black and white story, that there are no good or evil human characters you should be able to somewhat put pieces together.

I don’t see how some ppl gathered that Mizi is “the true villain” or smth. Her willful ignorance is definitely a coping mechanism and this adds a lot of complexity to her. And lowkey after sitting on it, some fans do reduce Mizi to a single dimension like Till, that boy, and even Sua. She isn’t a “perfect victim” who is innocent and has no flaws bc that eliminates her humanity. Most of the ppl in her life projected that image onto her so she felt compelled to fit into it. She couldn’t stop Till from having a crush on her even though she rejected him and she couldn’t severe the codependent relationship she had with Sua. Plus all this described to us from Mizi’s POV and given Ivan’s entire deal as a character I don’t think we’re supposed to 100% trust what she’s saying about herself.

In regard to Till, I sympathize with him to an extent. I understand you can’t control who you like and it’s hard to move on. Add that on top of this horrible environment where desiring Mizi might’ve been the few things to keep him going. But I need people to really see the truth: his crush on Mizi was fucking shallow.

He didn’t really know her nor try to. Yes he had this unrequited crush but it is not Mizi’s responsibility to make him better about it. I have been in Mizi’s position multiple times. A guy likes you, you express you’re not interested and they insist that they’ll still want you. The whole time they’re not even close to you and you’re like a prize to them. I’ve been in Mizi’s position and it’s fucking uncomfortable.

She also risked her life returning back to save Till in r7 so I don’t think she was plotting his demise on some villain shit. Mizi still saw Till as her friend I doubt she’s faking those emotions.

Finally it is very essential to remember this series is created by two queer korean women living in SK. And if you know anything of the korean male population, it’s not great. I mean men aren’t in general but in sk it’s like….in the 7th circle of hell. So anyone villainizing Mizi please take a minute to really process her character because she’s probably inspired by their personal experiences.

me: apple white is actually a really complex character and her moment with the evil queen was one of vulnerability because she can't be frustrated with how things turned out anywhere else and some part of her was still bitter that she had to give up something good for everyone else. the evil queen knew this and was playing on it. she was also playing on the pressure that snow put on her as well to 'get her happily ever after'. all of this resulted into her throwing the apple in the direction of the mirror in frustration (most likely to get her to shut up), which accidentally caused her to free the evil queen which she did not mean to do. once again afraid of making a mistake and this time having people KNOW about it she then covers for the evil queen as she's afraid of what people will think of her and not anything else because she's a flawed character. the evil queen the promises her happily ever after of course but apple doesnt really have a say in it as she's forced to do whatever the queen says in order to keep the facade that shes 'perfect' because (once again) her upbringing made her scared of making any sort of mistake so she tries to cover for herself instead.

I'm a sucker for the thing with "Rivals" and/or "Enemies" that actually have such a complex dynamic that you can't put a label on it. Where they hate each other. and yet will sit next to each other and share tender words of reassurance. Where they love each other, and yet beat each other to the brink of death. Where they are opposites while also being mirrors. Two sides of the same coin except the coin is made of two different metals. Yin and Yang but you don't know which one takes what role. Forged with the same materials but with different tools. The type of relationship where you can watch hours of analyzation videos, or read dozens of essays about it, but you can never get a definitive answer on what they are to each other. They need each other, and yet would benefit from the destruction of the opposing party. Where they kick and bite and punch and say hateful words, but would be the first to defend the other in times of desperation.

Enemies to Friends to Lovers except they were never really any of those things separately and fill all three roles at the same time. They are soulmates, bound by destiny, and yet never following a strict set of rules.
