So, in a previous post you showed this picture, and it kinda confused me. Were you joking about the writers not caring about Jack ? And if you weren’t, wouldn’t the same logic apply with Sam, Dean, and Cas ? Because they all suffered for plot convenience. Sorry if this ask sounds rude, I’m just curious on what you think the writers feelings about Jack are.

technically all characters suffer for plot convenience or for the sake of the story, ie main conflict and all that, but in jacks case it’s less about him suffering and more so about how his specific suffering tends to be fuel for everybody else and the plot rather than jack as a character, if that makes sense. like sometimes he’s written more as a plot device than a person experiencing things

sam and dean and cas all get some sort of resolution (most of the time) to their conflicts/suffering, and while they also push the story forward, they’re still at the center of it and actually develop through it. in jacks case, tho, shit happens to him and then he (and his pov) gets dropped after the story is where it needs to be. like, jack fights a war against his sorta-uncle in an apocalyptic earth with mary, and while it entails a lot of intriguing things we only really get to see it in scene cuts or a few episodes in s13

the casting side scripts go into way more detail about jacks inner thoughts (and I LOVE the juicy gossip of it all) but within the actual show, he’s very..staticky. at times. honestly i think it’s just a product of the writers having very different ideas of him in their heads that wind up occasionally clashing from episode to episode so there’s not much room for continuity. like, in his soulless arc we’re told and shown that jack has all these insecurities about his value and whether or not he’s actually wanted out of love for him as a person, or for how useful he is as a “pet monster” <- which I will never stop saying, is an utterly insane layer to add to him with no resolution. that’s the kicker. there’s no resolution, no payoff, no closure etc to any of the things the writers choose to imply or establish about him.

and even before that, there’s his sorta-rivalry with michael that isn’t even centered around him (and again I know why it’s dean, but we shouldn’t be pretending jack didn’t have the first say in this particular version of Michael by literally declaring war on him lmao). but we get inklings of it when michael-dean tells Jack things like “you’re just an infant but someday you’ll grow out of your human disease and be just like me and you can’t do anything about it,” and, to quote the script, jack just doesn’t want to admit it could be possible.

-found out he’s an alien

-found out he has a deadbeat alien dad and an alien half brother who hates him

-Said alien dad wants his body

- Scientist dad kept this information from him specifically cause he was scared of what Shadow could become if he had access to his alien powers so he made the move to repress them

-it doesn’t help Shadows still reeling from Gerald taking his autonomy and implanting him with false memories of his sister

-said alien dad nearly successfully takes over his body but it accidentally triggers his alien powers which are completely out of control and mutate him worse than he already is

-accidentally destroys and hurts his friends again in the rampage that happens because of the mutation

-kills his alien dad (he doesn’t feel bad about it) and in turn the rest of his alien race

-is left with scars and a half alien brother that still sortaaaaa resents him but they’re working on it

Regardless, I’ve been reading your fics on Ao3 and I absolutely LOVE the banter between gojo and reader 😭 it flows so fucking well I can feel the chemistry radiating from my screen. When I first started reading IHM, I was also an ancient hag like reader (29) so I found myself able to really relate to her. Usually when I envision Y/N, it’s a random person in their place but with this fic specifically idk why I lowkey insert myself? Everything she does, I would probably do the same and it makes me nervous (in a good way) that I’m gonna get attached to gojo and y/n’s relationship 😭

I absolutely love how gojo provides the security Y/N so desperately needs in the span of the fic. She has been suffocating on her own for so long that he just provides some fresh air. Dare I say meant to be?

The domesticity is everything and I like how we’re learning more about him alongside Y/N. So far we’ve seen just how supportive gojo has been and I’m excited to see how y/n comes through for him because my spidey senses (and your amazing writing) shows me that he has some baggage and it might resurface soon.
