My grandfather, may God have mercy on him, was martyred by occupation aircraft on 12/14/2023.

The one who was martyred while he was leaving the house to check on our house next to him, which could not be reached due to a brutal enemy who does not differentiate between anyone in death, went out to check on our house, which we were not in because of my displacement to Rafah, me, my father, and our families due to the intensity of the fighting in Khan Yunis, and after that A few days ago, our store in which my father and brothers work was bombed by occupation aircraft. He was working to gather his strength from it and meet the needs of our house, which no longer exists due to the bombing. whumpmas in july day 14: ideal fic wishlist

one of the most frustrating parts of being a writer is dreaming up a delightful fantasy, saying to oneself "damn, wish i could read that..", and then realizing..."fuck. i have to write it, don't i?" 😅💖 but, in lieu of that, i want to describe an ideal fiction i haven't yet written or read!

one my absolute guaranteed sources of whumperflies is some massive, yet plot-relevant, misunderstanding that results in catastrophic distress and pain 😈😢😈

for years, i've had this fantasy about a "villain whumpee" (this is a nebulous definition, typically describing someone outcast, perhaps because they are a magical being or perhaps because of being trapped in a nefarious position in life) being inducted into a team of "heroes" (typically people cast as "good guys" in some socially significant way, usually a combination of people genuinely trying their best to be good in a flawed, shitty system or genuine assholes of some brand). typically, this "villain" character does genuinely buy into their own "badness" to a degree that severely impacts their self-worth. 🥺🥺🥺

anyways, of course, this villain whumpee, who is so desperately trying to prove themselves to their team, to society, and to themselves, is caught in a situation where they must (seem to) ✨ betray their team ✨ and, oh no, my poor whumpee is horribly punished in some...Socially Justified Manner for their perceived betrayal (perhaps by the authorities, perhaps by other "villains") but regardless, this villain whumpee is left permanently and profoundly hurt 😰😢

this villain whumpee now must flee, running away for their own safety, because they cannot bear being further harmed and punished by their team, both because they know the impending punishment would be horrible to experience (and they are already so very hurt, they are in so much pain) and also because they cannot bear the people they've become close to now being their - of course very justified - tormenters 🥺🥺🥺

so the villain whumpee flees, carving out a meager, difficult little life for themself, while nursing their disabilities/injuries and also their heart-wounds at the betrayal they do not want to reckon with as well as the actions they committed against their newfound friends 😭🥺

but eventually, their former friends, the team of "heroes", tracks down the "villain whumpee" and the whumpee believes with all their heart that their former friends are here to enact revenge or justice or both. 🥺💔😭 a particulate feature of this story which i enjoy imagining is the villain whumpee desperately, in terror, trying to escape and get away and still getting caught, cornered, perhaps tearfully pleading for mercy? 😭😭😭

(whether or not the team is there to genuinely reconcile with their former friend because they realize they were in the wrong OR they are there to...apprehend this person for some reason - perhaps plot relevant information reasons, perhaps even begrudgingly, perhaps still believing their old friend was a traitorous piece of shit - is variously intriguing to me....😈😈😈 in other words, it is entirely plausible that this "reunion" has many earmarks of a capture.)

the apprehension of this deeply injured, malnourished, exhausted, terrified, outnumbered person by a cadre of powerful, pissed-off, former friends, all faces this whumpee knows and loved and can personally plead with by name, is...extremely delicious to me and my trope-loving little heart 🥺💖😭

i've had some loose sketches of characters here and there stewing on the back-burner for some time now, some of the inspiration for this character being found in my blog's tag "vasily vibes", in case anybody is curious! but i've never written and fleshed this idea out fully but it is a brand of fantasy i've greatly enjoyed whenever i come across anything remotely fitting the bill. 😍😍😍

gimme desperation, gimme aching angsty sadness at not being believed and thinking oneself abandoned and cast aside but still loving and being devastated by that loss, gimme social exclusion, gimme complex and morally dubious good guys, gimme indulgent levels of sheer "weeping over the memory of those who despise you" hurts, gimme disgustingly tropey disgust and ostracization and a lack of meaningful self-defense. 💔💔💔 i'm an absolute sucker for a well-meaning outcast falling deep into the "oops i care so much" hole and being subsequently fucked over for it 😈🥺😈

you sighed at the water bottle that had fallen to your feet. 

you couldn’t take your eyes off of it as it rolled away, and out of sight. now, if you had a normal stomach, you’d be able to see it.

but of course, you just had to be so pregnant, you couldn’t even see your own feet.

you tried for a second, squatting over weirdly to see it - or better, actually pick it up. it didn’t work, leaving you in a horrible mood and resisting the urge to cry.

“quinn!” you yelled, calling the source of this whole pregnancy problem. “quinn! get here quickly!”

there was a pause, before you heard footsteps running down the stairs and towards the kitchen - where you were. 

“what happened? are you okay? is the baby coming?” he fired rapid questions at you, slightly out breath because of how fast he’d ran towards you.

“i’m fine,” you answered. “and god, i wish the baby was coming already.”

quinn tilted his head at you, clearly not understanding.

you pointed towards the water bottle you couldn’t see, “can you pick it up for me? i’m thirsty, and i can’t see it, and i feel like an invalid, and i want to cry, but at the same time, i’m so tired.”

used to your rambling by now, quinn hid his laughter as he picked up the water bottle for you. you took it with a grateful smile.

“i don’t know what i’d do without you,” you muttered, tearing up slightly. “i mean, i would just be thirsty forever if you weren’t here. i can’t even see my own feet.”

“hey, it’s okay,” quinn pulled you into a hug, rubbing your back as you wiped your tears. “if it makes you feel better, i don’t know what i’d do without you either.”

“at least you can see your feet!”

you sat on the couch, watching f.r.i.e.n.d.s. it was nighttime, and the whole dilemma of not being able to see your feet had weared off. you were in slight pain - had been since this morning, but being at the end of your pregnancy meant that was inevitable.

the episode was about to start, but quinn still wasn’t down. 

“quintin hughes! if you’re not down in ten seconds, i’m going to watch without you!” you yelled, beyond annoyed that he couldn’t even make it downstairs on time.

“i’m here, i’m here!” he announced, rushing in.

you raised a brow at his appearance, “what are you do-”

“-look, now we match!” he grinned, showing off the giant pillows he’d shoved under his shirt.

you stared for a second, completely at a loss for words. quinn was grinning, showing off his makeshift belly, and looking so proud of himself. 

he looked down, his mouth falling open as he looked up at you, “woah! i can’t see my feet either!” he mimicked your earlier position in the kitchen - squatting weirdly, trying to see them, “holy crap, this is insane!”

you giggled a little, amused by quinn’s shock.

“you're so cute.” you put your arms out, “now come here, so we can watch t.v.”

he obliged, pressing a hand to his stomach like you usually did, settling in next to you. the pillow stomach was a little awkward at first, but the two of you made it work. 

at least until you felt something wet.

“quinn,” you whispered, as reality set in and you realized what the pain you’d been feeling was. 

“hmm?” he muttered, not noticing what had happened.

“dude, i think my water broke,” you whispered back. “the baby’s coming.”

quinn stared at you in shock for a second, his eyes widening as he took in what you said.

“i’m so happy my pillow-stomach doesn’t do that.”

It's a one-day old that somehow found and asked several small accounts, as if they had a list of tumblr urls

It's the same pfp as a known scammer, @maddiemartines aka @naomiglowy, so it was likely stolen off a legitimate GoFundMe or Twitter user

EDIT: turns out she is Maddie/Naomi; I had them blocked already, so Tumblr wouldn't show them to me, I guess? (I'm not adding them to the list below, for readability’s sake)

The same message has been used on Tumblr, again and again, by different accounts: salimaabdallah, superbavenuechaos, salimahsblog, even anonymous asks. (superbavenuechaos notably has the same banner picture) "my other account is not getting attention 😢" They are all banned.

The tags are misleading: #fundraiser#charity#gofundme#mutual aid#donations#donation -> it's a PayPal, not a GoFundMe, and PayPal is blocked in Palestine (I have no idea if Fundraiser is a specific website or not?)

Look what I found again! (I'm really sorry if somebody who doesn't like dramas is reading this...). I don't even know that person, so I absolutely don't have anything against them personally, was just looking at "mappa yoi" tweets this morning. However, I really think that is serious, the stuff that this fandom is doing, rn.... So I'm sorry for another rant.

Yep, I don't like semes&ukes obsessed fujos and I never will, I'm guilty here. If somebody thinks that YoI was made as a p0rn scrapbook for fujos and that they have right to demand from creators to give them more "VicYuu" (seme Victor and uke Yuuri), then that's their opinion, but I disagree. This is the gist of what I always write about YoI fujos - that they were harassing the creators, hard.

That I've said that Sayo and Kubo don't want to make more YoI is because Jp fans are homophobic is simply not true.

Recently, I've written for example, that one likely reason why there was no confirmation about Y&V relationship is because even fans (fujos included) are homophobic and this is true, that they are. It's not just YoI's problem - I really invite everyone who happens to read this to do some research into it, because that's something worth discussing. (My posts about that are tagged "#yoi fandom and fujo culture"). The industry and society are much more homophobic than the West, as well, so of course that's not only the fandom's issue, but I've written about that as well.

Serious question - have you ever seen any Jp article discussing YoI as queer representation? I mean, from the fandom? From anywhere?

Another issue - that Avex was/is at war with YoI fujos is also a well-know fact in the Jp fandom. You may think that they are the only homophobic one, together with MAPPA, but are you sure that you can see the whole picture? Hating on somebody, because you think that they are the villain based on your... Well, I don't even know what's the source for people, who just chose MAPPA to hate, tbh! Because they are the most well-known name to the Eng fandom? All in all, that's nothing new, on the Jp side of the fandom Mitsurou, as well as a few other staff members received the same treatment.

I guess, people who hate MAPPA so much just feel powerless and need to feel that they can bully somebody to feel better about it. I understand being upset, because you have been waiting for so long, but rn it evolved into hate towards the studio and the CEO, based on misinfo. Mappa doesn't even own the rights to YoI. But go on, I guess... In this particular case Otsuka has zero responsibility for the apparent lack of language skills and reading comprehension of anybody in the Eng fandom.

And lastly, I don't think that fujos are the direct reason why the IP holders pretend that YoI doesn't exists. I think there is a mix of reasons, but the most likely direct one, in my opinion, is that YoI + IceAdo's trailer (which many fujos hated because no uke Yuuri 😢) did badly in theaters in 2019. Here's where you can check how many tickets were sold. It was in theaters 2019/01/18~2019/02/07. But each time I say something about IceAdo, I clearly state that this is my own opinion and this time, it's also just my opinion.

New Year's Resolutions 2024

Also, anyone else I might've missed. 😢 I don't know if there's a way to distinguish being tagged on a post vs on a comment in tumblr, but it would be helpful when I know I was tagged a bit ago, but I don't remember by whom.

What's your resolution for your simblr?

OK, I guess I have some categories of goals.

Modding resolution: Release the Warriorcats Mod.

This mod is really close to done, but I'm in animation muck. I both hate seeing animations look bad AND I'm not an animator. For training interactions, I need multi-sim animations where one sim observes while the other acts, and when I tried to do this, I realized that I have a lot to learn before I can make this do what I want. I need one more good run in a geeky minset, and this thing will be read to at least release as beta.

This thing is bottlenecking other smaller mod ideas. I'm proud of it, and I want to finish it. But the turn of the year has been really bad for high-effort hobby energy.

For those who have sent me asks about this mod, I am going to say something that you should absolutely not apply any other modder, including me, for anything else. Bugging me about this (in a nice way!) is probably the best way to get it finished. Hearing from folks who use my pets mods makes my heart sing. Knowing that someone cares is the best source of positive energy I have.

It's a new year, and some very high-stress stuff in my personal life has improved. I know can do this in 2024.

In my points of low mood, I have wondered if there's even any point to finishing something this high-effort for a game this old. But, like Minecraft, TS3 never seems to die. 2022-3 was actually a modding renaissance. I have built some interest in TS4 at the end of this year, but it hasn't made me even a little bit interested in abandoning TS3. So I'm going to do my best to set that demotivating nonsense aside.

Gaming resolution: Finish the Samples.

I can't believe I actually wrote that, but it could happen in 2024. Generation 8 is starting in gameplay, and in a 10-generation legacy, this is the last "complete" generation.

I stopped playing halfway through Gen 3. I originally started posting this challenge on tumblr during Gen 2 when I created this simblr some horrifying number of years ago. Gen 1 was all on Wordpress and is new to the simblr. I've been reluctant to play forward on the challenge until I can bring the simblr with it.

2. What do you want from the sims franchise?

Haha. That's a complicated question. I think I may always be a TS3 player at my core. I send retroactive apologies to every TS2 players I looked askance at ten+ years ago. With that in mind, I can't reasonably expect much of anything from EA on my core hobby.

My pie-in-the-sky dream would be a 64-bit update for TS3 on Windows. That's not completely impossible, but it doesn't look likely to happen.

I'm keeping an eye on Project Rene. EA has given a good sense that they learned from the player response to TS3 & 4, and 5 could be a good synthesis. OTOH, the PRIMARY ask I have from them is 100% offline play, and I don't have a lot of hope. Though EA made the commitment to offline play for TS4, they've been clawing it back by inches over the years, and they even quietly made it impossible to install fresly-downloaded TS3 store content on 1.67. I'm fighting hard to keep my TS3 game at 1.67 because I want to be able to play on airplanes and in places I simply cannot log in. I don't give a !@#$ whether EA can validate my license. They're making enough money. They can stuff it in their butts. So, with that said, I am just assuming that TS3 1.67 is going to be the core of my fandom for the forseeable future, but my mind isn't closed. If TS5 is otherwise awesome, I can branch out.

My biggest hope for the franchise is from the fandom -- that the TS3 modding renaissance will continue. We keep renewing this old game, and as it continues to be renewed, there continue to be amazing fun new ways to play it. Thank you folks so much.

3. Any other new year's resolution?

Getting my Hobbit fanedit accepted by the Fanedit Academy at fanedit.org.

Heh. So, I have a very long drama story about my fanediting hobby. I flamed off the fanedit.org community when I attempted to submit my first edit years ago (The Hobbit, which should surprise exactly nobody who has looked at fanedits). I was floored when, in 2023, I was contacted by the head of that site to apologize for that situation and ask me to resubmit. It appears that my treatment by the reviewers prompted him to clean house and build a more welcoming community. Wow.

So, now my very first edit is under review by the "Faneditors Academy," which is the primary way to reach new viewers and gain feedback in this hobby. The site leader is involved in my review, but one of the reviewers is one of guys who treated me badly the first time, and he's complex to work with -- there's an undercurrent of him trying to justify rejecting me without a review the first time. I am determined to see this review through to the end. I am very proud of this edit. Also, the feedback is definitely leading me to take it the next level.

But I'll be honest -- working through the criticism and revisions is one reason I haven't touched the Warriorcats mod in months. I need to clear my mind and my plate to really focus on addressing feedback, and the criticism level makes that draining.

[Sharing from personal life -- another reason my modding dropped off is that this winter my trans wife came out to my socially conservative parents. We are not disowned, but it's been complicated and emotionally draining. Lighthearted play with stream-of-consciousness commentary is about as deep as I've been able to go for months.]
