Generations of baking and making memories at the bakery until the tradition is broken.  Going off with a band and trying to find a replacement for the bakery.  Instead, everything took a turn into a romantic ending.

The book was not the best that I’ve read, but I loved the twist of addition of romance and friendships.  I was a bit confused in the beginning but caught up and ended up really enjoying the story line.  Very unique plot that I’ve never seen before or read in my experience.

So here's my June Wrap-Up! Compared to the previous months my reading has been kinda slow but I still managed to read 14 books! A lot of them were ebooks so I can't picture them all in this pic. A highlight of this month has definitely been the Hazard and Somerset series by Gregory Ashe! Holm, Savanna @jenniferlholm Ganucheau Publication Date : June 29th 2021 Publisher : Random House Graphic Pages : 256 Genre : Historical Fiction / Middle Grade / Graphic Novel Ratings : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review : was heart warming and fun historical fiction graphic novel that revolved around Turtle who was sent to Key West to live with her aunt where she found treasure and much more. The story was about family, secrets, adventure, coming out of shell, love and friendship. Writing was easy to follow along with illustrations. It was told from Turtle’s POV. Her monologues in box separating the dialogues and conversations were fun to read. Illustrations were beautiful. I loved colour palate and art. Turtle was amazing 11 years old kid.It was great to see how slowly she came out of the shell she created around her and started enjoying her time in Key West, and how her thoughts changed by the end. Diaper gang was fun to read. Turtle’s cousins ran this gang with their friends. Setting of Key West and timeline of 1935 during great depression and time of Shirley Temple was well presented. Overall, Turtle in Paradise was lovely, heart warming, and entertaining graphic novel with amazing characters and setting. #Bloom is the baking boyfriends soft graphic novel I didn't know I needed until I started and couldn't put it down! Everyone had been recommending this graphic novel to me and I only wish I picked it up sooner. Q: Do you like to cook or bake? I've been learning to bake during this quarantine and I've been having fun doing it! Did I make these muffins literally just for this photo? 🧁...maybe. No regrets. The art and shading in Bloom are gorgeous. The story is so heartwarming and relatable. Ari wants to move to the city with his friends/bandmates so their band can make it big - but his parents really need his help at their bakery that is failing to stay afloat. Ari persuades them to hire someone new so this new person can take his place when he leaves. And in comes Hector, who loves to bake and is taking a break from baking school. I guess this would be the first time that I would be reviewing a graphic novel, and I can’t help it because the story and illustrations are too darn cute! . This is about two boys (or young adults) who met in a small town beside a beach. One is taking a leave from culinary school because of family issues, and the other has just graduated high school and doesn’t know what to do with life other than to try escaping their small town. . They met in the struggling family bakeshop of one of the boys, and their relationship started to take root from there. I went to the library in my college town for the first time today! I had to get my card renewed since I got it at a community fair as a freshman and I’ve only ever used it for Overdrive. I’m so glad I decided to go because I found all the books I couldn’t get online or at my hometown library, like Bloom! I literally sat down and binge-read the whole thing right there in the library and I have to say, I completely understand the hype now. It was so cute and the art style was so different than other graphic novels I’ve read. The blue scale completely changed how I read it because I felt like the colors were much more purposefully chosen to make the entire novel come together. It was amazing and the only reason it’s not a 5star is because it wasn’t life-changing. I almost never give out 5stars, but I can say with confidence that this is highest 4star I’ve read in a while! #PrideBookstagram Day 14: Bloom by Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau⁣ •⁣ I can’t properly put into words how much I love this graphic novel! 💙💙💙 Ari is a teen that’s a little problematic, bec he’s insecure and feels entitled, and he looks up to yet another problematic teen friend 🙄 and basically he’s a mess. In comes Hector, an easygoing, talented baker, to help with Ari’s family’s bakery. They spend time together, find common likes, etc., and the friendship soon ~blooms~ into romance !!! But of course Ari’s issues creep to the surface and at the moment when things finally start to fall into place, something devastating happens and Ari makes the ultimate mistake that drives not only Hector away, but also snatches his cozy little world off of his feet.⁣ •⁣ That ☝🏻☝🏻 is a sloppy summary by me, but agh, please read this when you can! I’ve said before that I love it bec I relate to a lot of things Ari goes through throughout the months depicted in the book, and huhu, the artwork presented in shades of blue is so pretty and soothing and the softness of it all is just what I need in my life right now!
