Still She Haunts Me, Phantomwise: Natalie Gregory promoting Irwin Allen's lavish 1985 two-part "Alice In Wonderland" TV mini-series. I still love this, desperately and eternally, and I recall it being quite the event at the time. It's my personal favorite "Wonderland" adaptation, Gregory my ideal Alice, lost and frightened, but also very poised and assertive. It aired just before Christmas back in '85, but because of all the pastel colors, flowers, rabbits, and talking animals, I tend to associate it more so with Easter. The Psychotronic Video Guide called it "Alice Goes To Showbiz Hell!," but I just get giddy over all of the classic Hollywood guest stars, some of whom have since incarnated Carroll's characters for me. Marvel at the massive sets, costumes, and catchy songs that I can still hum on a dime. Delight in the dark, spooky, absolutely jarring turn that the Looking Glass segment immediately takes, the Jabberwocky haunting my fondest nightmares to this day.

EXCLUSIVE: Apple and Skydance‘s youth empowerment tale Way of the Warrior Kid, based on the 2017 novel by Jocko Willink, has tapped 14-year-old Belfast breakout Jude Hill for its lead role, also bringing on three-time Emmy nominee Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me) for a role.
Hill plays Marc, a self-doubting boy who gets bullied and is hard-pressed to complete a single pull-up, with Cardellini as Marc’s mother, Sarah. As we were first to report, Chris Pratt also stars in the film directed by McG.
In Way of the Warrior Kid, Marc’s uncle, Jake (Pratt), an elite Navy SEAL, is injured on a mission and moves in with his sister for rehab. When he discovers his 13-year-old nephew is struggling academically, socially and physically, Jake takes on a new mission: using his SEAL Team training over three months of summer to help the youth find his inner warrior.
We were first to report on the package out of Cannes, as Pratt and McG came aboard, also sharing word of the $80M-$85M global deal Skydance locked in with Apple, where the company has a first-look deal. The film will be produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger, alongside McG and Mary Viola for Wonderland Sound, and Pratt for Indivisible Productions. Additional producers include Ben Everard for Everard Entertainment, and Willink. Will Staples (Without Remorse) adapted the screenplay.
Cardellini is coming off her starring role opposite Christina Applegate on Liz Feldman’s acclaimed dark comedy Dead to Me, which ran for three seasons, bringing her a pair of Emmy nominations, among other accolades. Also a producer on that series, she’s set to reteam with Feldman on No Good Deed, a new dark comedy from Feldman first announced in 2022, which also stars Ray Romano, Lisa Kudrow, and Luke Wilson. Soon, Cardellini will be seen starring opposite Ben Stiller in David Gordon Green’s comedy Nutcrackers, a project we first reported on, which is set to open this year’s Toronto Film Festival. She’s also the female lead opposite Vince Vaughn in Nonnas, Stephen Chbosky’s forthcoming comedy for Fifth Season and 1Community, which we announced.
Hill made his theatrical debut as Buddy, the young lead of Kenneth Branagh’s Academy-Award nominated and BAFTA winning Belfast — a coming-of-age drama examining a boy’s experience coming of age in late ’60s Northern Ireland amid the conflict known as The Troubles. For his performance opposite Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciaran Hinds, and Caitríona Balfe, he earned numerous awards, including Best Young Actor at the Critics Choice Awards and Best Newcomer at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards. Reteaming with Branagh since then on his Agatha Christie adaptation A Haunting in Venice, Hill will next be seen starring opposite Nicole Kidman, Gael García Bernal and Matthew Macfadyen in Amazon MGM Studios’ thriller Holland, Michigan.
Other upcoming Apple Original Films produced by Skydance Media include genre-bender The Gorge starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy; Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth, starring Natalie Portman and John Krasinksi; and the action-adventure film pic May Day with Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh in the lead.
Cardellini is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman; Hill by Berwick & Kovacik, UTA, and Markham, Froggatt and Irwin.

Books, Coffee and Snowflakes in his hair (ao3) - ethereal_larry (ttmngx) luke/ashton G, 3k
Summary: Luke was the cutest and the smartes person Ashton ever met. And even though Ashton was never afrain of anything, he was terryfied to talk to the boy who always read the same book. But maybe if he did, everything would change.
‘Cause I don’t know where it’s goin’ (there’s a part of me that loves not knowin’) (ao3) - Calumthoodshands (tndart) luke/calum G, 3k
Summary: All Luke wants is for his plane to take off and him with it to go home for Christmas — but the snow has other plans for him, and a day destined to be terrible gets lightened up from a rather unexpected place.
crimson and cream (ao3) - galacticsugar luke/calum T, 3k
Summary: “The things you decide to be a perfectionist about are so interesting.” Calum’s mouth says interesting, but his tone says I’m obsessed with you.
Luke’s it for Calum. He’s always kind of known it, he’s just been patient. Waiting for some intangible thing that will make the time right. He’s not waiting for Luke to realize Calum’s it for him too. Luke also already knows. He just hasn’t quite realized he deserves to have what he wants.
Falling (on the ice) For You (ao3) - allsassnoclass (brightblackholes) michael/ashton T, 2k
Summary: Michael doesn't know how it happens. One moment he's minding his own business, walking his dogs like a good owner even though it's well below freezing, and the next his feet are no longer under him. He blinks up at the clear blue sky, Southy barking in one ear and Moose whining in the other, and registers just how many different parts of his body hurt.
Let It Snow (ao3) - friendstothis michael/luke N/R, 319
Summary: Luke just loves the snow, and Michael finds it adorable.
never one for winter (ao3) - galacticsugar luke/calum M, 20k

As soon as the plane lands, Luke flips off airplane mode and waits, shaking from the suspense, the stress, the everything that has been his life over the past few hours.
There’s a text from Calum.
Calum: i’m around. And i’ve got tequila.
pas de deux (ao3) - allsassnoclass (brightblackholes) michael/ashton, background roy/calum T, 50k

Calum starts to raise his hand to wave goodbye, planning to keep walking and get his cold feet into his car as soon as possible, but then the breeze ruffles Luke’s hair across his eyes and everything stops.

The Devils I Know - Number 11
Welcome to “The Devils I Know!” For this spooky time of year, from now till Halloween, I’ll be counting down My Top 31 Depictions of the Devil, from movies, television, video games, and more! Today’s Devil is an Eggs-asperatingly Evil Fellow. Number 11 is…Vincent Price, from The Story of Mankind.
Tumblr media
Yeah, given the actor and how ridiculous this movie is, I could not resist an Egghead reference. XD “The Story of Mankind” is probably one of the more “oddball” entries on the countdown. The film was directed and produced by Irwin Allen, a filmmaker known for his campy, colorful style of storytelling, making movies that were as inexpensive as they were absurd and bright. I know Allen best for his 1985 miniseries version of “Alice in Wonderland,” along with his work on TV shows such as “Lost in Space.” Long before those, however, Allen worked on this 1957 feature, which has become something of a cult classic, mostly due to its star-studded cast. The film takes place in an alternate future where mankind has developed an incredible weapon of war, which has the potential to lead to the destruction of the entire world. A high tribunal of celestial beings is called, as they freeze time and try to determine if they should intervene in some fashion, or potentially allow humanity to destroy itself. To this end, the defense and prosecution alike show the jury moments in humanity’s history to each of their respective ends. The defense focuses on the heroes of humanity, people who did grand and admirable things that everyone will remember forever with fondness, such as Abraham Lincoln and Moses. In contrast, the prosecution presents the villains of humanity: people like the Emperor Nero and Adolf Hitler, who forever despoiled humanity with acts of cruelty and horror unfathomable to this day.
The main issue I have with the film – and keep in mind it has SEVERAL issues – is that it suffers from two particular things: one is a very bonkers sort of tone, and two – which sort of ties into this – is its utterly haphazard casting. I’m sorry, but a movie with Agnes Moorehead throwing everything into playing a dramatic and serious Queen Elizabeth I just does not jive with scenes of the Marx Brothers as Peter Minuit, Sir Isaac Newton, and a Monk. Similarly, Peter Lorre as a particularly schlubby Nero doesn’t really mesh with Dennis Hopper as the world’s most American-sounding Napoleon. The movie can’t decide if it wants to be a comedy or a drama, and the actors largely just seem thrown into the piece with little to no regard as to whether they work in their respective roles or not. One piece of casting works perfectly, however, and that is Vincent Price as the Devil. Here referred to as “Mr. Scratch,” Price’s Devil is the head of the Prosecution, and the main antagonist of the picture. His rival, the defense attorney – known simply as “The Spirit of Man,” and played by Ronald Colman – is our central protagonist, forced to try and prove his case against the Devil’s quick rebuttals. Price plays one of the classiest, smoothest Devils in all of cinema. Dapper in appearance, refined in his manners, and eloquent in his speech, he mixes his sophistication with a roguish charm and fittingly devilish wit. Even though he’s seeking to destroy the planet and gain all of mankind for himself, he clearly has so much fun with what he’s doing, and does it with such style, you are never able to fear nor hate him. Honestly, he’s so entertaining to watch and to listen to, that the Spirit of Man’s examples of goodness and honesty become drab in comparison: a classic case where evil just seems like so much more fun than good, which, come to think of it, may or may not have been the intention. It’s a personal favorite of Vincent’s performances for me, and while the rest of the movie is a total and complete mess, this is the one element where everything truly clicks. If I was told Vincent Price in a fancy suit was the tempter of all sinners, I would have no trouble believing that, and frankly, I’d probably be okay with it.
Tomorrow, we move into the Top 10 of the countdown! HINT: A Uniquely Animated Evil.

the ever-cool @leonardcohenofficial tagged me to “shuffle my on repeat playlist” but since I don’t have one of those, I made a ‘1,000 most played” smart playlist in iTunes and shuffled it to get these 10 tracks:
“So This Is Love” - Selah Sue, off Jazz Loves Disney 2 - A Kind of Magic (2017)
"Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In” - The 5th Dimension, off The Age of Aquarius (1969) I had to transcribe and adapt an excerpt from this piece (roughly the 1st minute) as an audition to be an arranger in a special ensemble in college that played all student-written arrangements. We got the assignment Thursday and turned in our transcriptions (with parts formatted and printed and taped) on Monday. Apparently I played the official excerpt file 216 times that weekend but between listening to other files of that recording (including left and right stereo splits I made to try and pick out parts better) and listening on youtube in the car and on runs, I ate slept and breathed that recording the entire weekend.
“In A World Of My Own” - Kathryn Beaumont, from Alice In Wonderland (1950) 2nd one, I promise I’m not a Disney adult. But this song is lovely. I listened a lot to Diana Panton’s recording of it in spring 2020 on my hype playlist for Animal Crossing: New Horizons
“Oh Dear What Can The Matter Be” - Julie Andrews, off Julie And Carol At Carnegie Hall (1962) This recording is gorgeous. I think I listened to it a ton when I was sad one time. The chart is so gorgeous (I think by Irwin Kostal?) and well-recorded.
“Quiet Morning” - Lalo Shifrin, from Bullitt (1968) I believe the beginning of this is where the album version track “On The Way To San Mateo” comes from. This track is just so cool as is Lalo’s entire score. Also in all the times I listened to this I never paid much attention to the harp and vibraphone texture that begins at 2:10, but it’s pretty cool.
“Star Eyes” - Henry Mancini, from Bachelor In Paradise (1961) I believe this is source music and is likely a preexisting song re-recorded for the movie.
“Serenata” - Nat King Cole & George Shearing, off Nat King Cole Sings / George Shearing Plays (1961)
“The Typewriter” - Frederick Fennell and the Eastman-Rochester Pops [comp. Leroy Anderson]
"Mambone” - John Williams, from Bachelor Flat (1962)
“So This Is Love” - Ilene Woods & Mike Douglas, from Cinderella (1950)
I tag @budcortfancam, @folksingers, @non-binary-laurie-strode, and invite anybody else who’d like to participate!!

Ashton leans back to try to catch his eyes. “Luke, we’re going to be at the studio all day. 5SOS5 is going to be fine without you losing sleep over it.”
Luke sighs and finally meets his gaze. “It’s not for 5SOS5,” he admits.
“Well, if it’s even less urgent-”
“It’s for my own album.”

Why has the Lucas Cave been attracting visitors from all over the world ...
Located in the Jenolan Caves in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Lucas Cave is a magnificent underground wonderland that has been attracting visitors from all over the world for over a century. With its stunning rock formations, pristine underground rivers and lakes, and unique fauna and flora, Lucas Cave is a true natural wonder. In addition to its natural beauty, Lucas Cave has a rich cultural history, with evidence of Indigenous use dating back thousands of years. This article will take you on a journey through the fascinating history, geology, and biology of Lucas Cave, as well as provide practical information for planning your visit to this awe-inspiring cave system.
Introduction to Lucas Cave
Lucas Cave is a natural wonder located in the heart of the Jenolan Caves system, in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. The cave system is believed to be one of the oldest and most extensive cave systems in the world, with Lucas Cave being one of the most popular and awe-inspiring caves in the area. It's a place where adventure meets natural beauty and where visitors can witness some of the most spectacular geological formations that Mother Nature has to offer. What is Lucas Cave?
Lucas Cave is a limestone cave system that stretches over a kilometre
in length and descends to a depth of 54 meters below the surface. It's named after one of the first surveyors of the Jenolan Caves, George Ernest Lucas, who explored the cave in the late 1800s. The cave is famous for its exquisite dripstone formations, underground rivers and lakes, and the discovery of a range of prehistoric fossils. Discovery and Exploration of Lucas Cave
The Early Discoveries of Lucas Cave
The Jenolan Caves were known to the local Gundungurra people for thousands of years, but the first recorded sighting by Europeans was in 1838 by a group of British soldiers. The cave was discovered in late 1860 by the Australian explorer, George Whiting and Nickolas Irwin. Excitement around the discovery of the cave grew, and it became a popular tourist attraction in the late 1800s.
Exploration and Mapping of the Cave System
In the early 1900s, James Wiburd, a cave guide, began to map the cave system, and Lucas Cave was one of the first caves to be extensively explored and mapped. The mapping process took over 20 years, and it wasn't until the 1920s that the entire known Jenolan Caves system was fully mapped although discoveries continue to be made. Today, visitors can explore Lucas Cave with the aid of modern lighting and pathways that were designed to minimize environmental impact.
The Natural Wonders Inside Lucas Cave
 The Underground Rivers and Lakes
Lucas Cave is home to several underground rivers and lakes that flow through the cave system. Visitors can witness the crystal-clear waters that flow over ancient limestone formations, creating unique rainbow colours and patterns that are breathtaking to behold.
The Magnificent Formations of Stalagmites and Stalactites
One of the main attractions of Lucas Cave is the incredible formations of stalagmites and stalactites that are found throughout the cave system. Visitors can see how these formations have been created over millions of years by the slow drip of water, creating stunning shapes and textures that are uniquely beautiful.
The Spectacular Fossils Found in Lucas Cave
Lucas Cave is famous for the discovery of several prehistoric fossils, including the remains of the marsupial lion, the Tasmanian devil, and the giant kangaroo. These fossils provide a glimpse into the ancient history of Australia and the creatures that once roamed the land.
The Abundance of Fauna and Flora in Lucas Cave
The Unique Animals that Live Inside Lucas Cave
Despite the harsh conditions, several species of animals have adapted and thrived inside the cave system, including a range of insects and spiders. Visitors might catch a glimpse of the famous cave cricket.
The Endemic Plant Species that Thrive in the surrounding area
Jenolan Caves Reserve is also home to several plant species that are endemic to the area, including several species of ferns and mosses. These plants have adapted over thousands of years to survive in the dark and humid environment of the cave system and provide a unique insight into the adaptation of life in extreme environments.
The Fascinating Geology of Lucas Cave
Lucas Cave is a magnificent natural wonder located in the Jenolan Caves system, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The cave is famous for its breathtaking limestone formations, which have been formed over millions of years. The geology of Lucas Cave is unique, and it is home to a number of different rock formations, including stalactites, stalagmites, and columns. The Formation and Age of Lucas Cave
Lucas Cave was formed between 340 and 430 million years ago, during the Silurian period. At that time, the region that is now Australia was covered by a shallow sea. Over time, sediment, including shells and other marine debris, accumulated on the seabed. As the sea levels changed and the sediment was compressed, limestone was formed. Eventually, the limestone was uplifted, and the action of water and other natural forces created the cave system we see today.
The Different Types of Rock Formations Found in Lucas Cave
Lucas Cave is home to a variety of stunning limestone formations, including icicles, shawls, helictites, and other unique formations. The cave is also famous for its impressive grand columns, which are some of the largest and most magnificent columns in the world. These columns are formed when stalactites and stalagmites grow together to create a single, giant structure.
The Indigenous History and Cultural Significance of Lucas Cave
Lucas Cave has been an important site for the Gundungurra, the traditional owners of the land where the Jenolan Caves are located. The cave system is believed to have been a sacred site for the Gundungurra people for thousands of years. The Significance of Lucas Cave to the Wiradjuri People
For the Gundungurra people, Lucas Cave is an important cultural site, and it plays a significant role in their creation stories. The cave is said to have been formed by the Rainbow Serpent, and it is believed to be a place where the spirits of the ancestors reside. The Wiradjuri people believe that the cave has healing powers and that it can help people connect with the land and the spirits. Visiting Lucas Cave: Guided Tours and Practical Information
Lucas Cave is open to visitors, and guided tours are available for those who want to explore the cave system. The tours are led by experienced guides who provide visitors with a fascinating insight into the geology and history of the caves. Guided Tours of Lucas Cave
Guided tours of Lucas Cave are available every day, and they are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. The tours take approximately 90 minutes and cover a distance of 920 metres. Visitors can expect to see a range of stunning limestone formations, including the grand columns, and learn about the fascinating history and cultural significance of the cave.
Practical Information for Visitors to Lucas Cave
Visitors to Lucas Cave should wear comfortable clothing and footwear, as the tour involves walking on uneven surfaces. The temperature inside the cave is cool, and visitors are advised to bring warm clothing. Photography is allowed during the tour, but flash photography is prohibited.
Conservation Efforts to Preserve Lucas Cave
Lucas Cave, like other parts of the Jenolan Caves system, is a fragile ecosystem that requires careful conservation and management. Efforts are being made to preserve the cave and its unique limestone formations for future generations.
The Importance of Conserving Lucas Cave
Lucas Cave is an important natural and cultural heritage site, and it is essential that it is conserved for future generations. The cave system is home to a wide range of unique limestone formations and is of great scientific value.
The Efforts Being Made to Preserve Lucas Cave
The conservation of Lucas Cave is a collaborative effort between the Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust, the local community, and the New South Wales government. Efforts are being made to reduce the impact of visitors on the cave system, including limiting the number of visitors and implementing sustainable tourism practices. Regular monitoring and maintenance of the cave system are also carried out to ensure its long-term preservation. Lucas Cave is a true testament to the incredible beauty and diversity of our natural world. From its stunning rock formations and underground lakes to its unique flora and fauna, Lucas Cave is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves exploring the wonders of nature. As we continue to work towards preserving and protecting our planet's natural resources, places like Lucas Cave serve as a reminder of the incredible beauty that surrounds us and how important it is to ensure that future generations can experience it as well.

Heyyyy for the soft asks, I have 7, 16, and 25!! 🥰
hai becca, thanks for sending these, loved this set of questions 🥺💛
7. what do you enjoy daydreaming about most?
oh man sdfghjk like in a general manner, i'd say i always end up escaping to safe/happy scenarios, where i'm surrounded by real friends, traveling and learning about other places/cultures, while making new friends and taking care of the people that i love (and receiving the same treatment back !!). y'know, just living a happy and healthy life, which currently sounds too much unrealistic for me lmao
16. where do you feel most at home?
(the answer above can also apply to this one) i feel the most at home when i feel surrounded by love, no matter in which shape or form. it can be my best friend's hug, my niece's angelic laugh or just being around my favorite person in the world (hey babe @bluesdelis). but it can also be that feeling of being infinite that i get everytime i'm looking out a window when traveling or looking up at the sky at night, or when i'm overwhelmed in the best way bc i'm completely surrounded by nature, or yet when that song plays when i'm in that mood and it just provides me an almost out-of-body experience. idk, the definition of home changes a lot for me, but i can definitely tell you it isn't a place within four walls. but currently i'm working on making myself feel at home in my own body, which feels like the toughest and longest project ever lmao but yeah. okay i got too sappy, sorry 🤭
25. what’s a song that gives off good vibes anytime you listen to it?
oooh anything from abba, really. but especially 'why did it have to be me?'. but also !! 'dog days are over' by florence + the machine; 'mil acasos' by skank; 'killer queen' by queen or 5sos, doesn't matter bc i'll be bopping along to either; 'ser o parecer' by rbd; 'la vie boheme' by the cast of rent; 'so what' by p!nk & 'holy ground' + 'our song' by taylor swift. i know it was supposed to be one song but i can't help myself 😌
simple & soft asks 💫

Hey hey, how are you!? I was at the show tonight and it was freaking incredible!!
I was just wondering if you happened to catch at any other shows venue staff taking tour posters for the crew staff. Today as I went through security a venue staff took the sign I made and said that the tour crew wanted them; that they knew we worked hard on them and promised to pass them along ?¿
I couldn’t tell if that was fact or bullshit, and was wondering if you knew anything?
Ah, so glad to hear you had a good time! 👏🏻👏🏻
I personally haven't heard stories like that but I feel like it's within the realm of believability? At different points over the tour, Michael himself has pointed out memorable signs and had them passed up to stage to allegedly save and I think it's definitely possible that with the tour winding down, they could be collecting them? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Summary: He’s not sure what he guessed the baker would look like, but whatever his assumption was, Luke is surprised. He’s dressed far more casually than he had expected, no fancy chef coat and uniform in sight - in its place a black t-shirt with the name of a band Luke vaguely recognizes, gray slacks, and a blue striped apron with plenty of flour on it, the only indicator that Calum has been the one baking all the delicious items they sell. When Luke’s eyes reach Calum’s face, he sees he was wrong, actually - there’s flour in his hair as well. His dark curly hair, seemingly bleached in some bits, is mostly covered by the red ball cap Calum wears, but one of the longest curls near his eye is streaked with flour, and Luke can’t help the slight smile that escapes him. He also hadn’t expected how pretty the baker would be, of course.
