That passage in the you you are where mark and Ricken get into a fight is another example of mark wanting to keep the grief of Gemma to himself.

How could some idiot like Ricken understand his pain or even share in it? Mark’s grief is so vast he can’t imagine how anyone could bear even a fraction of it. Mark can’t bear it (goes on to microdose on suicide)

But the truth is Ricken does feel it. Gemma was kind to him and indulgent in ways Mark certainly never was and might’ve been more so than his wife at times (when you live with someone you have to draw a line, lol)

I really think that anyone obsessing over severance rn should go and read/listen to The You You Are and I’m about to spoil the juiciest part of it so go!!!

Anyway, Ricken is trying to get a gift he gave Gemma before she died back from Mark and mark can’t find it. Mark blows up at Ricken and tells him that Gemma actually made fun of his gift, that the joy she received from it was at his expense. That “everyone laughs at you the second you walk out of the fucking room” Gemma included.

He’s trying to tarnish Ricken’s memory of Gemma severely and it works to some extent. Ricken recognizes that this mocking laughter will effectively be the last thing he ever “hears” from Gemma.

Ricken tries to make seem like he’s healed from this fight but it’s clearly stung him badly. The whole book is obviously Ricken processing his emotional wounds from childhood to today which actually makes the book an interesting read.

Mark wants people to have liked his wife less so he doesn’t have to think about or consider their pain in regards to her death. GOD mark is just such a good depiction of grief: it’s not beautiful or gentle or anything it’s ugly and it’s isolating. And I feel for them both in the end.

Also reading it from the perspective of Innie Mark will make you insane highly suggested!

Thought of the scene with Gem/Pink Steven holding Steven. And thought "HMS" or just "Soul becoming in tune with Whole".

It would've made sense to draw all three of them together, or if ever, have a design where they all share traits as they become closer to Whole. Idk. I already have things in my head planned to draw.

Soul is memorized yet shocked, their eyes merging into the others as they stare at their vessel.

Whole... just wants it to be over. Not making a single sound. Wanting for this moment to be simple, so he himself can live quietly. (Well, not quietly.) Yet Soul wants it to stay longer.

Idk. Anyways.

This is a little long, but oh well. It happens.

Eddie walks into Steve's house and immediately knows something isn't right. It's eerily quiet, even though he knows both Steve and Billy are here. Two cars parked in the driveway.

There's this feeling he gets ever since everything went down. A sense exactly when things aren't supposed to be going the way they should. The doctors call it anxiety. But here's the kicker.

Eddie has never been wrong.

So when he walks into the Harrington house and feels a shiver run down his spine, he knows. Something is wrong. Terribly wrong.

"Steve?" He calls, up the stairs. If they were in the living room the TV would be on, or he'd hear the two of them talking. "Billy?" 

No response. 

Eddie kicks off his shoes before creeping up the stairs. Socks silent and treading carefully. There's no way to tell what he'll find up there.

And he sees it, before he's even made it all the way up the stairs. He can't even be proud of himself for getting it right, yet again.

A bloody handprint, right there on the wall. Smeared like someone had been trying to keep themselves upright while walking. 

His heart thunders in his chest. "Steve?! Billy?!" 

He doesn't care about being heard or seen right now. What he needs is to make sure his boyfriends are okay. And in one piece.

He books it up the stairs, down the hallway and into Steve's bedroom.

"Steve," he sighs, sliding to his knees in front of the bed Steve's sitting on. His pastel polo and khakis are covered in red. Bloody, disgusting, red. 

Eddie reaches out, but Steve flinches back. "Don't touch me," he whispers, his eyes big and scared like he'd seen something he shouldn't.

"Steve, I need to know you're okay. Where are you bleeding, where's the wound? What happened? Steve, where's Billy?" 

"I'm here," Billy says, emerging from Steve's bathroom, holding a wet rag. "He's okay. Not hurt. Just bloody." 

Eddie stands up, turning to his other boyfriend. "What happened?" He needs to know. If he doesn't know his mind is going to make up some crazy story like how Steve got in a fight with a bear or how he went out and killed someone.

"Steve, he," Billy pauses, taking a deep breath through his nose. "He was at home with us. I got here at three, and you got here at four. He was with us watching TV and drinking beers. That's what happened, okay?" 

Eddie stares, mouth agape. Billy has a smear of blood on his otherwise white shirt. Eddie is already nodding before he's even realised what he has agreed to.

"Yeah, okay. He was with us. But what did he do?" He doesn't know whether to turn to Billy or to Steve this time around. 

Steve makes the choice for him. "I killed him," he says. Eddie turns to him, watches his watery eyes snap up to his. "I killed him." Steve's hands are shaking, covered in blood. Red drips from his fingers to the floor.

Eddie is in front of him again, taking those shaking hands in his, not caring he's getting dirty. Not caring that Steve is bringing him into this. "Who, Steve? Who did you kill?"

"Neil," Billy says, taking one of Steve's hands and starting to clean the blood. He shouldn't. Steve should get in the shower. They have to burn the clothes. "He killed my dad."

Eddie turns to Steve. "Why'd you- why did you do that?"

Steve swallows, his throat clicking. His eyes move from Eddie to Billy. "B-Because I'd promised to do anything... To keep you guys safe." 

"You did, sweetheart," Billy says, cupping Steve's cheek. "You did so well, okay? We just have to fix things now, yeah? It'll be okay." 

Steve nods.

"Get him in the shower," Eddie says. "I'm burning his clothes in the woods. Cleaning the house. Where's the body?"

Because he can't turn back time to prevent Steve from doing what he did. But he can make things better. 

Billy understands. They're both scrappy. "The quarry," he says. "He'll be found soon." But that's okay. It's perfect. They'll make sure of it.

begging the fanders who are critiquing the janus makeup vid to think critically abt their complaints for a moment

(this is not to say that thomas is un-critique-able, just that the complaints ive been personally seeing are easily explained by general inferences made about the characters' personalities)

firstly: "janus doing the makeup makes it so that his scales arent canonical!" explanation: the beginning of the video, janus says he's in his "thomas disguise." he's doing his makeup in THOMASS BODY, to "LOOK LIKE HIMSELF." it can be assumed that when he snaps into his normal clothes, he's rid himself of the makeup and what we're seeing are his canonical scales.

next: "please take roman and janus's fight seriously! why isnt janus upset??? i want this to be more than a cat fight!" explanation: WHAT about janus makes you think he'd be vulnerable about a fight he had on camera while doing his makeup. please think about that for a moment. from what we know about both janus and roman, their entire dynamic is insensitive vs oversensitive. offensive vs easily offended. AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, doesn't care at all vs cares too much. that last dynamic is what i specifically think will be explored in the finale, but janus - from everything we know about him, and even in the makeup video - refuses to care about things. sure, it's a part of his sassy persona, but not caring about things is a defense mechanism, and one that janus very clearly relies on. mocking roman in a video and then refusing to address it (which would be weird of him to do anyway in a LIGHTHEARTED MAKEUP VIDEO) is very in-line with his personality. very genuinely - could you really look me in the eye and tell me it'd be MORE in character for janus to sort of tear up and look away and be uncomfortable with the idea of roman? absolutely not.

last: "janus was very out of character! he was laughing and stuff!" explanation: you mean in the grey sections? the sections that are very much meant to be interpreted as bloopers? bro

again: this isnt to say thomas is exempt from criticism, and there have been critiques of his videos that i have agreed with in the past. but these couple have especially been bothering me because of how clear their answers were not only in the characters' personalities, but within the video itself!

if anybody has any other criticisms, id be very open to hearing them! but these were my two cents

i personally really enjoyed the video. i thought it was very silly, which im pretty sure was it's intention, and i hope that more people got enjoyment out of it than what i've been seeing. very funny; i enjoy the shorter, more lighthearted videos just as much as i do the more lore-focused ones.

*WANDERSONG SPOILERS*

I wanna talk about Audrey, the so-called 'Hero.' Now I'm not that good at writing or posting meta but man oh MAN Audrey is actually so much more interesting than I initially took her to be; she's actually deeply insecure about not only herself but how the world perceives her AND has a skewed, dare I say, SUPERFICIAL, idea of what it means to truly be the hero. She primarily sees it as a role she has to play or fulfill, rather than something someone chooses to be, and while she "knows" herself to be the hero, she doesn't actually BELIEVE she is A hero in herself. Even further is that she WANTS to be The Hero but is so dyed in the proverbial wool in both her insecurities and her perception of her role as The Hero that she doesn't want to stop, she wants to fulfill the role she was given so bad that she broke her promise to the Bard when she said she wouldn't kill anymore Overseer spirits upon killing the King of Hearts because, how she sees it, 'that's how it is.' What was interesting is that Audrey spoke about her dislike of being told what to do and where to go when Eyala was acting as her guide, that she found it demeaning that she couldn't think or act for herself, but was that her interpretation of being told to back down by Eyala? After all, Eyala did mention to the Bard that when she warned Audrey, Audrey felt that Eyala was 'taking something away from her', and that something was the role of The Hero, without which she would still be a nobody that no one saw or knew or cared about.

She wants to be the Hero and is so attached to that role and the adoration it had brought her and wants to fulfill that role because she believes that what truly makes her and that without the title of Hero and the Sword and the powers, she can't be A hero. Her insecurities tell her that she can't be A hero outside of being THE Hero, and she can't understand not only how the Bard had gotten so far but how he continues to have hope, despite his own innate feelings of despondence and his own melancholy. But he keeps going because of his hope, hope that he can still save the world and that there is always another, better way, a way that one can choose. A different way to be a hero, if you will. And I personally think that the Bard's approach to being a hero, it's confounding to Audrey for many reasons, one of those being that he wasn't chosen by anyone or anything to be a hero per se, but he chose to be a hero HIMSELF, despite everything acting against him, including Audrey herself. The Bard admitted he's jealous of Audrey being chosen to be the hero and her sword and her powers, not knowing that his innate goodness and his CHOICE to be good make him a hero, without the need for a sword or a title or a higher calling.

I honestly love how Wandersong toys with the definition of the word 'hero', and not only subverts the typical fantasy RPG hero archetype with Audrey, right down to the outfit and the magic sword, but DOUBLE subverts her; she could have been a twist villain who was simply a villain masquerading as a hero, but even this was subverted by making her not a hero, but not quite a villain either, but an insecure girl who sees herself as a nobody and is so obsessed with fulfilling a role that makes her a somebody that she's going to end up destroying the world and herself (both figuratively and literally), but is blinded by her self-perception and insecurities so that she can't see anything within herself that's heroic, making her both a mirror and a foil for the Bard.

I'm not sure where I was going and I know Wandersong isn't the first game to do this but I love how it was done here so far (I'm starting Act Seven), not least because I hated Audrey at first but she's actually growing on me, as much as I hate to admit it, not least that she actually resonates with me much more now this revelation has come about. I was pleasantly surprised and now I want to study this girlfail mess of a human being under a microscope.

Feeling a little sick so some Clerithtine headcanons

All three take turns with making food and each one has their likes. Aerith likes making soups and broths. Cloud likes making meals with meats and chicken. Vincent likes baking pastries.

The one to make the most simple and quickest meals though is Vincent. Cloud is most likely to order takeout and Aerith prefers more fresh stuff but doesn't mind the other options.

With sleeping, Cloud is the lightest. Vincent the heaviest and Aerith is in between.

Also Vincent is the BIG SPOON with Cloud as well and Aerith usually is the small spoon. That doesn't mean they don't take turns. (Vincent really likes being Aeriths little spoon....CloudAsWell-)

personal headcanon for draco that I have seen like... maybe a handful of fics talk about: Draco is an artist or at the very least creative.

why do I think this? let's look at the evidence shall we~

on several occasions, in order to harass Harry, Draco has come up with "pranks" *cough cough* to try and get his attention. what does he do? he writes a very well written poem making fun of him, he creates dementor cloaks to scare him and they are so well made he threw a patronus at him, he created badges not only saying cedric is the real champion but is able to switch to say "potter stinks" very animatedly and compact enough that the entire student body is able to wear them, and his final one, not only does he write a complete song to harass Ron but also badges that project the lyrics so all of slytherin can easily sing them!

these are the small things he has actively done that makes me think he is a creative mind but if that's not enough for you, let me give a couple extra examples that might be a bit more telling:

in second year during the dueling club, draco was able to use what little he was able to produce to attack harry, its also implied that snape might have told him to use the snake charm but did not show him how to do it, meaning he already knew it. the spell itself wasn't something people would normally think of to throw at their opponent either and might have truly just been a way to scare harry (maybe snape had thought about doing this to james at some point idk), regardless we don't know if draco was just told to scare harry or use that spell specifically so... under what circumstances would draco have thought to use that spell? I highly subscribe to the idea that it was just one he thought about mastering for fun because he likes snakes and it was a creative take on a duel.

and then we get to sixth year... do I need to explain how extremely skilled someone has to be to fix and refurbish a previously extremely damaged vanishing cabinet that was artistically made and well designed before it got damaged? how many teenagers can you think of would be able to do that? maybe hermione could have done something like that but I have a feeling it would taker her way longer and not for an act of trying.

I also think draco is an artist because as a hobby this boy only had potions (which I see as an artistic form of magic, similar to cooking being a craft) and flying (another form of art if you think about the grace which harry himself has pointed out the boy has on a broom) as very definitive joys for so long... until 6th year onward where they kind got ruined because of the war.

I wanna see more fics where they talk about him being creative tbh, ive seen some fics make him "smart" but they don't even go into how smart he is, hermione just solves it all and he feels just like a shadow by comparison. give draco some obvious skills hermione doesn't have pls cause im tired of fics ignoring the obvious take of this
