How the gang would react to a introverted/shy s/o!
So sorry for taking so long to write this! But here are your guy’s headcanons @bluetackbaby @l-3-xxx (I wrote more for soda since one of you guys asked for it!)
Darry
Darry would probably appreciate how quiet you are since he has to take care of boys who don’t know how to be quiet for a second of their lives
He thinks it’s very adorable how shy you are
When he isn’t at work he’s probably always by your side
When he’s stressed your presence just somehow makes him calm? (Does that even make sense lol)
Ponyboy’s probably thankful for you because you always seem to calm him down whenever he’s mad
When Darry first introduced you to the rest of the gang you just hid behind him like a five year old child
They kinda already knew Darry wasn’t one to go for loud and wild girls
When you guys would go out to dinner sometimes, Darry would probably be one of those parents who makes their child order for themselves
“Go on, tell him what you want, I’m waiting”
He doesn’t mean to do this on purpose, he just really wants you to slowly come out of your shell
He ends up ordering for you
Sodapop
You guys are literal opposites
He’s just jumping around everywhere and telling you everything that happened that day. And I mean EVERYTHING
You just smile and nod, happily listening to him talk
You’re always there for him when he needs to talk about his problems, which he is always thankful for
Whenever you guys go out anywhere, you’ll have to hold his hand just to make sure he won’t get lost
Like I said, he’ll be talking your ear off while you just listen to him, glad that at least one of you are talking
He doesn’t really mind how quiet you are, he knows you care and that you’re just shy
Whenever you guys are in crowded places, you just hold onto him the whole entire time
He finds it cute
Whenever you want to say something to someone, you’ll just whisper it to Soda and he’ll say it to them with a wide smile on his face
“She says she’s doing good! Probably because she’s with me of course!”
You just look at him unimpressed
When you do speak around people he’s so proud
He overall just loves how quiet you are and finds you so cute!
Ponyboy
Ponyboy doesn’t mind how quiet you are but he sometimes tries to encourage you to speak your thoughts
When you guys are alone in the comfort of his room that’s probably when you’ll be speaking more
You guys will be just living comfortably in silence with one another
He reads to you most of the time as you just sit next to him and listen
He doesn’t mind how much of an introvert you are because he’s one himself
When you come to his track meets, he’ll probably look for you in the crowd and smile knowing how you’re silently rooting for him
You get pretty happy when he reads to you, probably because you don’t have to do much talking
“Hey y/n, do y’want me to read to you again? It’s fine if not, we can do something else”
You immediately nod and become very glad that you don’t have to talk for this activity
Johnny
You guys will both be quiet together, no questions asked
The gang probably teases you both for how you guys are so similar
You and Johnny are probably never spotted without the other
You guys are literally attached together by the hip
Even if you guys don’t talk much you both get each other
You’re always there for him whenever he’ having problems with his folks
He’s really grateful for you since you are like the only other person besides Ponyboy who understands him
You guys literally don’t need anyone else when you have each other
“Hey y/n, thanks for always listening to me whenever about my problems..”
You have to assure him it’s no problem
Steve
Bro this guy would be encouraging you to do some crazy things with him
He talks a lot but not on the same level as Soda
Whenever you guys are hanging out he’s just mostly talking about cars as you try and stay interested
When someone is talking to you, he’ll mostly answer them (unless you don’t want him to)
He’s happy to stay at home with you instead of going out
He’s probably around you most of the time when he isn’t at the DX
Is probably one of the loudest guys out there so the gang doesn’t really understand how you got with him
He thinks your shyness is cute
“I swear! Today I saw this super cool red mustang! It was so sleek and everything! Too bad a dirty Soc owned it..”
You would just nod along to whatever he’s saying
Two-Bit
At first he honestly thought how weird it was to be so quiet
The only other person he knew that was very much introverted and didn’t speak much was Johnny
So when he met you, you surprised him
He’s always trying to make you laugh and get out of your comfort zone
His mother always has to tell him not everyone is as outgoing as him
“I know ma! I’ll stop bothering y/n to get out of her comfort zone!”
He really does care for you even if he’s trying to make you do crazy things that make you want to hide in a hole
Like I said, he’s always trying to make you laugh no matter the circumstance
Dallas
Dallas wasn’t really used to being around girls that don’t really try and get out there
He honestly thinks it’s amusing how quiet you are
Even if you don’t talk much he’s glad to know that you’re willing to listen to whatever he’s ranting on about
He doesn’t really understand how you could be so quiet and shy but he loves you nonetheless
Whenever he forces you to go to parties at Buck’s he always makes sure you’re comfortable
“You alright doll? We can leave if ya want.”
He tries to act like he doesn’t care but you can sense it easily
The gang is happy there will be someone around to balance Dally out
Sorry if this isn't what you really wanted! I tried my best so again I'm sorry if it's bad! But thank you guys for requesting!

Navia with a musician reader
characters: Navia x gn!reader
warnings: none
a/n: I have this really weird obsession with the Accordion, I have no idea why. I can’t play it, I don’t understand how it works, I just love how you can play like every folk song on it and make it sound pretty banger… So yeah. Also, I wanted to write something for Navia since she just got announced and I already want to put all my life savings into a ring I can put around her finger.
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
Navia
While the underground wasn’t that bad compared to some of Teyvat’s lesser habitable environments, it was easy to enter a death spiral of self-pity and despair if one let their mind wander off to how much more comfortable life was outside, and havings things to do or people to entertain you was a great way to distract yourself a bit.
All of which was a fancy way to say that whenever you started playing your accordion, it didn’t take long for you to get surrounded by a small to medium sized crowd, some of them listening intensely, some using it as a suitable background music to whatever they were currently doing and some others throwing in songs you should play next.
And while there was hardly a face you hadn't seen attend your performances at least once, one always stood out to you, no matter how big the crowd. Were it her blue eyes softly, yet noticeably staring at you, her smile whenever she heard you play a song she seemed to remember from her childhood or more realistically her clothes that made it difficult not to stand out, yet whenever she was there, it didn’t take long for you to notice. And just as quickly as it took you to spot her, your fingers’ movements started to get more clumsy, still a ways off from making you play a wrong note, but noticeably enough that it took you a lot of concentration not to mess up, your cheeks growing red as you suddenly became conscious about your every action.
Just as you finished playing the song, you were bombarded with requests causing the sound of coins dropping into your hat to nearly get drowned out. Could you play this, what about that, with every voice joining in, each one got less discernible until they blended into one giant background noise, your glance fixated at the blonde making her way towards you, until the sound of her voice forced you to return back to reality.
“Are you familiar with this song? I don’t get the chance to listen to it everyday, so I’d be really happy if you could play it”, she asked with a smile, handing you a folded piece of paper with the song’s name on its front, before quickly getting interrupted.
“Sorry Navia, but the rules are the rules. Request something and toss a coin into the hat”, an older man whose face you could recognize from almost every single one of your shows stated, his voice jovial and without any ill meaning, yet just as serious.
Without missing a beat, Navia pretended to check her purse only for a small smile to find its way onto her face.
“I don’t seem to have any money with me, would a cup of tea and some macarons do?”

Musings from a Hazbin Fan and Hotel Employee
Yeah, that's right—I'm posting to this blog for the first time in years because I got into Hazbin Hotel of all things. Not only did I get into this cursed fandom, I'm writing fan fiction for it. Fan fiction. I think the last time I wrote fanfiction was...2012? 2013? And I only ever told 3 people about that one. Now here I am posting on main. The brainrot truly is unquantifiable.
If you're one of the few people that survived the purge of those I know IRL, congratulations. Please don't judge me lol. Anyways, actual musings are below the cut!
So I’m writing a fun little fanfic on AO3 and after someone left a comment (if you’re reading this, still genuinely one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me about my craft), it occured to me—as a Hazbin Hotel enjoyer, I have a pretty unique perspective on the series as an IRL hospitality professional. So! Thought it would be some cute bonus content to talk a little bit more about my life at an actual hotel and how it’s impacted my experience with Vivziepop’s hit series.
Please note: this is written purely for shits and giggles. I don’t actually have any issues with the setting of Vivzie’s narrative or how it plays into the stories she and her team want to tell. I fucking love this show, to a potentially unhealthy degree, and I haven’t had this much fun with a series since like…okay well my hyperfixations change like every few months, but still. Point is, this isn’t actually critique, or satire, or anything with negative or critical intentions. TLDR; this post is for funsies, get off my dick.
So Who TF Am I, Anyways?
A little background on myself, for context. I’ve been employed at my hotel for almost a year now, and it’s my first hospitality job. I work in the Sales and Events department and I’ve come to learn that Group Business is actually integral for keeping a hotel up and running. When your average person (read: me before this job) thinks about hotels and traveling, you’d think it’s all about the families, bloggers, and individual travelers when it comes to guests and revenue. But in actuality, most of a hotel’s revenue—at least in the market I work in—will come from contracted room blocks and events.
That’s where folks in my department come in. We work with clients to negotiate contracts and secure occupants for our hotel year round. Simply put, if we don’t do our jobs well, then no one else gets hours. So as much as the anti-capitalist in me will sometimes hate being a cog in the machine, it is really fulfilling to be able to help clients meet their needs while also making sure my coworkers are able to put food on the table.
Speaking of being a cog in the machine, because of my role in Sales, this means that whenever I travel or think about hotels, I’m always thinking about the revenue side of things. I also work more with the Events team, so operations are also on the forefront of my mind. Which leads me to my principal quandary for this little blog post:
How in the Hell does the Hazbin Operate?
I have a laundry list of questions. A laundry list that’s almost as big as the actual pile of dirty laundry that is currently plaguing my bedroom floor. I will summarize (which is a generous word given how fucking verbose I can be) below:
Issue #1: Revenue Generation
Okay listen, I know Charlie is the Princess of Hell. I know she probably has unlimited capital, whatever that looks like in the HelluVerse. And I know the Hazbin is literally there to help rehabilitate people so charging them to stay would be counterproductive.
But my dude…do you understand how much money would be needed to run an operation of this scale?
At the end of Season 1, the new Hazbin is huge. Like it easily looks as big, if not bigger, than the hotel I work at which has nearly 500 rooms. Do you know how much revenue our team has to generate to keep this place running? Do you know how many millions our target goal is set at for each quarter? How many hundreds of thousands my coworkers’ individual quotas are set to? And sunshine in a bottle over here doesn’t charge her residents anything?????
How does she get all those decorations? How does she order food or inventory? We know Hell has an economy, like Angel literally says he needs to save money for drugs in his first appearance. Is she…does she even pay her staff???
It is utterly appalling that Charlie is able to operate a hotel of this scale, both because of how it doesn’t make sense from a business perspective and because there are IRL billionaires that could probably do the same thing and solve homelessness overnight.
Speaking of scale:
Issue #2: The Hazbin’s Systems, Or Lack Thereof
Okay so, yes, there’s only like…one official resident of the hotel, maybe two if Cherri moves in and doesn’t become a staff member (RIP Pentious, you would have loved living with Cherri Bomb). With the staff the way it is, that’s a solid 5:1 ratio, which is beyond ideal. But—and I touch on this in the fic—I feel I must reiterate: the new Hazbin is fucking massive. And you know what that means? It’s going to be able to hold a lot of guests. Guests that will need staff to take care of them. Let’s review:
Charlie is the owner and mostly teaches classes. Vaggie is the co-owner and kind of acts as the Executive Assistant to Charlie’s General Manager. I guess Alastor is the Hotel Manager? I’m gonna be honest, I have no idea what he does, but generally speaking he’s supposed to be the jack of all trades and manage the rest of the staff. Niffty handles Housekeeping and I guess would be the director of that. Husk is the bartender but like canonically only really eats pub food so he definitely can’t be the Food & Beverage head.
Let’s say we scrap the Sales and Revenue Departments because clearly they don’t need income, but we keep a Marketing position so that Charlie can get the word out about the hotel. That leaves us with the need for Engineering, Front Desk, Rooms, and F&B staff. And like, not just one person—that would fucking suck—but proper staff. And given their track record of organization and managing the hotel…let’s just say, I would not be applying to the Hazbin Hotel anytime soon. Honestly, it sounds like that job would qualify to be the new tenth circle of Hell.
What Does the Hazbin Get Right About IRL Hospitality?
So yes, clearly the world of the Hazbin Hotel leans towards the more fanciful—it is a story about Hell after all. However, there have been some moments that have made me chuckle as a hotel employee, things that are relatable for us in the hospitality world. Allow me to highlight them for you below:
Everyone is Bat Shit Crazy
Hospitality professionals are weird. So weird. Before I started my job, I was terrified of the level of professionality I would need to have. When I first got hired, I was given a whole packet on dress code and appropriate conduct. As you can probably tell from my writing style, this was concerning: I can be professional when I need to be, but I cannot maintain that guise for extended periods of time. Call it my toxic trait.
I also already had this impression of poised and put-together hotel staff from my previous experiences with travel. All the Front Desk agents would be in these clean and wrinkle-free clothes with kind yet business-forward attitudes, office workers would be walking around in full suits, and occasionally you’d see the hotel management on the floor if you were looking. Let me tell you now—it is a facade. An act. An incredible stage production unfolding in real time where all the staff do their absolute damndest to make you feel like you are in an organized and professional institution. Not unlike a certain hit animated musical.
My direct supervisor, the literal Director of Catering and Events, once told me that being a liiiiiittle crazy was a prerequisite for working in our department during the hiring process for a new Sales Manager. She was wrong—the prerequisite is not “a little” crazy. The prerequisite is being bat shit insane. And it’s not just our department, oh noooOoooOo, it is every department. Downstairs in our little basement dungeon, we make out of pocket comments, scream at random intervals, and swear way more than we should (that one might be my fault…according to my partner I swear more at work than at home and apparently it’s rubbing off on my colleagues), but that behavior is in no way restricted to just the Sales Team.
I process the checks that are sent to our property and our Director of Rooms makes me say “can I get a WITNESSSS” before she signs off on the drop log (Charlie-core). If I don’t say it high pitched enough or with enough vigor, she makes me do it again. I once watched a guy in Engineering climb a tall step ladder balanced with two legs on a platform and a third leg balanced on a wooden plank his coworker was holding steady. The fourth leg was over the open air. Let me reiterate: the open. Fucking. Air. Tell me you can’t see Angel Dust and Cherri doing that shit.
Speaking of Engineering, you wanna know what dumbass thing happened just this morning? The Regional Director of the department—regional meaning he manages teams all across our area, like top level type shit—told us about this cursed ass Instagram trend he found where allegedly, putting ketchup on a Kit Kat tasted like fudge. So right there and then, him, myself, and two other coworkers decided ‘why the fuck not?’:
Tumblr media
I would never seek it out willingly again, but I honestly didn’t hate it.
The point of all of this is to say—the antics the Hazbin crew get up to? Totally realistic. I could see my coworker Robert throwing me into an active battlefield against my will. We have deadass done the role playing thing Angel and Pentious did during our trainings, and it was just as unhinged. Every day some shit happens at this hotel and I’m just like, “Yup. That could happen in Hazbin.”
“Call Now! Or Don’t! I Don’t Care! We Still Don’t Have a Working Phone!”
I would like to preface this section by saying: if you happen to be a Front Desk associate, I’m sorry. This is not directed at you, this is directed at your managers and their communication skills that may or may not exist. If you are somehow a manager reading this, uh—first of all, cringe. Second of all, I hope these next few paragraphs don’t apply to you. If they do and you’re offended: that’s a certified you-problem, babes.
There are three certainties in this life: death, taxes, and miscommunication from your fucking managers. Tell me why in this past week alone I have been in 5 different email threads regarding fuck-ups and complaints from guests about things that we had clearly communicated. Tell me why in these email threads, people were attempting to throw me under the bus or shift the blame to my team. Tell me why I have gone to every single individual office in my department complaining about this. Tell me why this isn’t the first time this has happened.
Another hotel tidbit: across the board, Q1 (Jan-Mar) is supposed to be slow, for all of hospitality. It’s the time to get the metaphorical phone lines working, ya know? Our Q1 was stupidly busy, so I get it, people were slammed and short staffed. But like… we had time. Time to iron out our communication, time to create systems and processes that would ensure we’d be all set when things got busier. Yet here I am at the start of Q2 with an entire fist shoved up my ass being puppeted around to fix other people’s mistakes.
It’s times like these when I go back to rewatch Hazbin for the like 26th time and I watch Charlie and Alastor run the hotel and I’m just like “whyyYyYyYyYyYy”. Like I KNOW Vaggie has had days where she’s like, “what…what am I supposed to be doing right now? Like what is my job, what… What?”
It’s not just Front Desk either. It’s every department, even my own bosses. Like the call is coming from inside the house, sweetie, why did you tell this Sales Manager that I was taking care of all her commissions but you didn’t tell me this. Why am I blocking a room for an Orientation the following Monday at fucking 5:45 PM on a Friday. Why am I JUST finding out about a VIP guest when I have been asking you if you had any notes for me for the whole week.
I touch on it in my fic as well but like…pretty sure Charlie just, decides to host her classes day of. And that drives me insane. Like I…there are processes. Things that need to be done so that everyone is on the same page. You don’t just wing this shit, that’s how you end up with Susan calling your Director to tell her that you’re a useless waste of space not even deserving of the air in your lungs because you didn’t give her her fucking breakfast voucher.
As a character, I love Alastor. If I were ever in the same room as him, I’d probably hate him. But if there’s anything relatable about that Geneva Convention Violation on Legs it’s his absolutely done attitude in Episode 1’s opening commercial.
Charlie Loves Helping People, and So Do We!
Alright, I’ve complained for enough paragraphs, let’s be positive for a second. The thing that is by far the most true to life in Hazbin Hotel is how much joy Charlie gets from taking care of her guests. Like…that’s our bread and butter in the hospitality world. Well, maybe just the butter; we need that bread in the form of cold hard cash (or direct deposits, whatever works best). But as much as I will bitch and moan about the difficulties of working in a hotel, there’s nothing quite as fulfilling as a guest telling you that you made their entire trip better. The butterflies I get reading reviews where my coworkers are mentioned by name and a guest writes about how we completely turned around their bad day are an absolute delight. It just means the world knowing that you can have that kind of impact on someone, even if it’s just in the little things.
In Episode 2, when Charlie and the crew are welcoming Sir Pentious and she just starts vibrating with excitement is exactly how I feel when I get to meet a client that we’ve been working with for months and finally welcome them to our property. When they sing “It Starts With Sorry” and just get to have a moment of empathy and compassion together, it reminds me of the clients and the phone calls I take where I get to ask them about their goals and help them feel like they’re supported and heard. In the grand scheme of things, is a nice phone call or interaction with some hotel employee going to change your life? Probably not. But for those few moments when their burdens seem lighter is why I love my job.
This goes for guests, and for my fellow coworkers. I’ve been very blessed to start my hospitality career in an unusually supportive work culture. Yeah, we can be some right petty bitches sometimes, but overall everyone is so encouraging and so quick to help lighten each other’s loads. Like in Episode 5 (best episode btw, for obvious reasons) when all the Hazbin Crew are working together to prepare the hotel for Lucifer’s arrival, that shit made me so giddy cause like- that’s us! Look at us go! We workin together so hard, we’re so cute! Like when Niffty and Pentious are baking and she looks up at him all excited n’ shit—that’s literally been me working with our Director of Restaurants on new food menus or promotional material.
There’s something about being in an occupation where your whole purpose is to take care of people that really brings out the selflessness in you, and I think that’s what makes the hotel such a great setting for Charlie’s mission of redemption. I didn’t realize that until writing this paragraph tbh, but yeah, it just kinda…works. When your job is to make sure other people have a good time and feel supported and you’re surrounded by people that make you feel the same way, it’s a lot easier to want to choose to do good, to do right by the people around you. So as much as I have some silly little nitpicks…yeah, I can admit—I love that this show is about the Hazbin Hotel specifically.
Anyways, if you made it this far, thanks for reading! Next update for Life is In Redemption will be out in the days to come, just thought this would be a fun addition while I work on some of the content with my friends. This upcoming chapter is going to have a co-author, so get hyyyyyped :)

Heard you wanted Dracula prompts? how about: Seward suitor squad sandwich. That's it, that's what I've got. Feel free to run with it if you're so inspired.
bet.
Arthur Holmwood's Diary, Written in by Quincey P. Morris, October 14th
The sun isn't up yet, so I'll take this time to write. Journalling ain't usually my thing, but some good's gotta come outta this whole vampire mess, and I'm certainly not gonna lose this memory to time or whatever meets us in Varna. Art — if you're reading this, I hope you don't mind I nicked that journal of yours. I don't have one of my own, and I know you well enough that I'm sure you'd want a record of last night too.
The three of us have been through a lot. Probably more adventures than those folks who call themselves blood brothers. We know everything about each other. Art, I know you like to gussy up your animals when you're too worried to think straight, and I've heard that I cling to people when I'm dead asleep. So I don't know why Jack thought we didn't notice him shivering up a storm in that bunk of his. He's always the first one to feel the chill, but Lord forbid the man actually open his mouth to say something about it. Art told me it was something about medical school and blood pressure that got Jack to seal his lips? Some theory about womenfolk being more susceptible to the chill, I think. Now the man would rather let his skin go blue than admit that he needs some warm bodies by his side. But it's not like anyone in this group of ours is inclined to judge anything, and at the very least, Art and I already knew about what the doctor didn't want people to suspect. Mina was even snuggled up, happy as a clam with that husband of hers. The two of them made for such a pretty picture, and I can't think why Jack was so against being like them, all warm and comfortable-like. It's not like he would ever get mad at me though, so I went and cozied up with our darling doctor. That wasn't entirely altruistic on my part. A warm body can help stave off the cold, but the presence of a true, dear friend is more than needed to fight off that darkness that we see ahead. I told Jack as much. The man won't take handouts, but he'd do anything to help his own. He's got a heart as pure as gold beneath all that gloom; besides the professor of his, I can think of no better shepherd of the sick. He held himself stiffly for the first few moments, but soon enough he was melted to my chest like a frozen cold kitten scooped up off of the ground. Art, of course, was not one to be left out, and he was bright enough to see our doctor begin to flush and think of propriety. With the smarts of the hunter he is, he strolled over and laid himself down across our laps, all cat that got the canary like. Jack certainly wasn't going to stand up and cause our lordling to topple to the floor, so the poor lad was trapped between our affections. The darling thinks himself subtle, but both Art and I are sharp enough to notice the relieved smile that curled at the edges of his pretty lips. Even without the threat of someone standing up, Art's position was far too precarious for my liking. So I tugged the two of them back with me, arranging us all on the bed more comfortably than how we had been perching on the edge. It's sweet how Jack flushes whenever I haul him around, but I wasn't inclined to embarrass him further, so I didn't say much to that effect. The three of us have bunked in worse places than a traincar that's just a tad too cold, so we settled quickly enough into a position that's comfortable for all of us. Just as I like to cling with my dear ones in my arms, Jack likes to feel the weight of something solid on both sides of him; spending too long in the realm of the mind probably leaves him needing a reminder of what is solid and real. Art, of course, managed to take up more space than we thought possible, stretching across the two of us like he was making his claim. There was a moment of silent peace, all of us understanding each other without a word shared. But our doctor couldn't stop his buzzing brain, and soon enough he opened his mouth to speak.
"What if-"
It doesn't take the brightest mind to figure out that he was going to let himself discuss only the worst possibilities, so with all the grace that I could never muster, Art rumbled out the sweetest, laziest whine into Jack's chest. That was enough to stop that train of thought in its tracks. The claim that Art holds over our Jack's heartstrings is nothing short of impressive, but they've had decades to grow fond of each other, I suppose. Still, such an efficient shutdown of Jack's overthinking ways did tickle me, so I suppose a chuckle escaped my mouth. Again, our doctor goes red, though I suppose the rumble of my chest against his face sparked some other, better thoughts in his head. I wish he knew that he need only ask, and both Art and I would be happy to do whatever he wished to him. But this isn't time to push; perhaps after we come back from this latest adventure of ours, we'll sit our boy down to run another gauntlet of proposals.
But I'm not keen thinking too far into an uncertain future. There's no point until the evil we're hunting is cold and scattered on the wind. At some point, the warmth and comfort lulled us to sleep; I couldn't tell who went first into that land of rest, but as with all things, those of us left behind wasted no time to follow. That's where Art and Jack still are now, finally getting the rest and comfort we've all been neglecting of late. The train is still rolling along to our destination, and no matter what we face in Varna, I am happy to know that this moment will not slip into the oft-forgotten past. The two of them don't look like they will be stirring anytime soon, so I suppose I will return and join them for as long as they will have me.

Folks, as much I thematically love the idea of Astarion, an ex-magistrate, going to bat for Wyll with Mizora, and helping him re-write his contract, I'm not sure it would go that well. I mean, whenever you're going into court complaining that someone's rights have been infringed upon, or someone's broken a law, you're always citing a higher authority. So-and-so stabbed thus-and-such, and according to this law that's a no-no. If there's a guilty party, there's usually someone with more, or at least equivalent power to mete out punishment. But if we're talking about a contract with a devil... Mizora's the highest power in the two person system they've got going on. She'll always win. It's not like Wyll can appeal to Asmodeous, the Lord of the Nine Hells, or something, and he'll bash that bitch's skull in. There is no law, or "neutral party" stopping her from interpreting the contract however she wishes, or even making amendments to it, unless explicitly stated in foolproof language (unlikely, if you ask me since she basically wrote it). Yeah, from what I understand Wyll's kind of fucked as long as he's trying to beat a devil on her home turf, a game she's been playing for millennia. While I'd love to have perfect faith in his and Astarion's ability to outmaneuver her if they were to re-write the contract, I think the safer, and more straightforward option would be to simply kill her, and for Wyll to start over with another powerful entity with some respect for fair play. Surely, someone would want the valiant, and selfless Blade of Frontiers. Since the shitty contract in question doesn't allow Wyll to stand up for himself really at all, the task might then fall to his friends to kill her as quickly as possible, I suppose, before she's able to do any more damage.

Could I request your yandere OC's with an autistic darling? Or maybe with ADHD? I have both and I love how included I feel when I read those things (I love your chrollo with an autistic darling) like the whole jumping through topics easily and being too loud and the snide comments others make really hit home with me (although these days I just snap back with the snark but it really hurt my feelings as a kid)
Sorry I got on a ramble there
Oh and can I be added to your taglist? Just in general for whatever you write please, I love your works they make me happy
(Sure! First I need to make a tag list and finally update the master lists since it has been at least a year...)
Warnings; yandere, yandere relationships, yandere behavior, autistic reader, the world is not very kind to neurodivergent folk,
~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
- Evan cares very deeply for you and enjoys your bouncing mind. He may not always get what you mean when you jump to a different topic, but he can usually pick up on it fairly quickly.
- Evan will sit and listen to you talk about whatever it is that you have fixated on whenever you start going on a tangent about it. He will also get you whatever it is you need in order to satisfy your fixated behavior, regardless of if it is expensive or not. Only the best quality things for his darling dearest.
- he may sometimes feel a bit frustrated when you don't pick up on his flirting, but he also knows that you aren't doing it with the intent of frustrating him, so he lets it go quickly.
- If any of his underlings say anything or do anything to make you upset or to mock you, he will torture them as an example so the others see just how bad of an idea it is.
Tumblr media
- Walter is a doctor of physical health and not mental health, but that doesn't mean he won't make an effort to understand you. He knows that he may never fully be able to keep up with your mind, but he also knows that he adores you and refuses to let you go.
- Any random injuries you may get during the day will be treated with as much seriousness as a large injury. It may feel overbearing at times, but he is showing his love through acts of service and his desire to keep you safe.
- Whenever you become over stimulated he is there to help keep you calm and to help you get somewhere a little less stimulating. He also knows that you need space at times to calm down, so though it makes his chest hurt to keep his distance while you are so clearly distraught, he also knows to give you that space. Just let him know when he can hold you again.
Tumblr media
- The best part about living with Carlos is the amount of animals you can ramble to about anything and everything. He owns a wildlife sanctuary and he likes to talk to the critters as well, so he can't judge. The best listeners out of all the creatures he cares for are either the elephants, or Mimis. The elephants because they are very gentle with you, Mimis because she is not particularly bothered by whatever volume you talk at and doesn't care if you get loud. Mimis will also talk back when you talk to her, yowling, purring, and whining.
- Carlos already doesn't like others, so you are able to get away from situations rather easily. It isn't hard to convince Carlos to leave the group of talking people and to take you to a less crowded area just to help soothe you.
Tumblr media
- Jackson is an anthropologist and as an anthropologist, he will be so damn fascinated by all that you do and the way your brain works. Anthropologists don't always work with long departed people, but also in the study of living communities. You are a fascinating human and he wants to learn as much as he possibly can about you.
- He will pick up on your behavioral ticks and on your typical behavior and responses to things. He isn't a psychologist but he does know how to observe people and learn about them and their culture through observation.
- He already has extreme patience and tolerance, this will be most apparent if you even have a moment of overstimulation or a complete breakdown. Very little can ruffle this man or upset him, so he will be the steady one in almost all situations and he will be the one who automatically picks up on your behaviors.
Tumblr media
- Amira has ADHD and is more on the hyperactive scale than females typically tend to be. She will easily be able to pick up on how your brain works and can sympathize the best with problems you may be facing.
- She is busy and working on her degree, so she does need to get her school work done, but any free moment she has, she will spend it with you.
Tumblr media
- Julie- as an artist- tends to think about things in abstract and concrete ways. She will actually find your jumbled brain to be fantastic inspiration. If you hyperfixate on something, she will be happy to help you learn more about your fixation.
- Julie loves all mediums of art and she is so thrilled to introduce you to them if you need them as an escape. She understands your space the most out of the others because she is very touch-sensitive due to her upbringing. She can and will help you any way that she can, going above and beyond to make you happy.
Tumblr media
- Kaya is a brilliant botanist because she has a 'mild' form of autism, though her behaviors are much more muted. Plants are her usual fixation, but she will happily turn that desire for knowledge and understanding towards you. She will do her best to share what she knows and entertain any fixations you may get.
- Kaya understands what it is like to be different from others and to seek out those that understand her. She will understand your struggles and interests because she also has to live as neurodivergent in a world that looks down upon her for just being herself.
Tumblr media
- Hada works with very unpredictable animals that many people are actually afraid of. She won't find your morbid thoughts disturbing or a cause of concern. If anything she can read your mental state from your physical behavior better than anyone else.
- Hada is the type of woman to befriend sharks of all kinds and can read their temperament through nothing more than body position. She will have no trouble learning to read you and may even be able to notice your emotions before you do. She is also no stranger to staring down hecklers and getting into intense physical altercations, so if anyone says a damn thing to upset you, she is ready to sign their death warrant. Woman wrestles dugongs and has been bitten by 25ft+ sharks, still being the victor of any fight she has, people are easy for her to deal with.
Tumblr media
- Ollphéist is an old God and really never understood humans much to begin with, but they will try to understand you and your needs. They can easily become whatever you wish and will happily adhere to your wants. If anything, Ollphéist sees you as the most entertaining human they have met.
- Ollphéist understands most things in the planet and even in the universe, so they will likely have knowledge on whatever you may be seeking. They don't understand basic human interaction so they are the least likely to ever become frustrated with you. You are their human and they treat their interests well.
Hello! I'm sorry this is so late, but I wanted to submit a matchup, if that's still going? My name is Kat; I'm a genderqueer person (all pronouns) who is bisexual, polyamorous, and greyromantic. This means that while I find most people attractive, I tend not to fall in romantic love unless I know them really well, but I have no problem having physical relationships that are platonic (at least to start). I'd love any matchup, but I would really hope for one of the Ghouls or Papas! I'm fairly tall for being AFAB (5'8") and I'm pretty curvy too. I've always been a larger girl, which made me pretty insecure growing up. I have long brown hair and brown eyes. My style of dress is fairly inconsistent; in the warm months I like to wear short skirts and frilly tops, I jokingly call it fairy-punk. When it gets cold I default to slacks/long skirts and sweaters, think librarian. I also have a fondness for combat boots, they're basically the only shoes I wear. I tend to be pretty shy around new people, but once I'm comfortable I am very bubbly. Most people describe me as sweet, kind, intelligent, and polite. I'm very much a mom friend, and I love taking care of the people I love. That said, I can often get into my own head a bit and panic, especially when it comes to asking for things I want. I try really hard to always make sure the people around me feel safe, happy and loved. My hobbies include video games, listening to music, writing and reading (mostly fanfic), going camping with my friends, and baking. I bake a lot, and will almost always make something if I'm going to a party or event. I also memorize the dietary needs and favorite treats of the people closest to me so that I can always make them something they'll love. My music taste is a bit all over the place; I listen to everything from alt rock to Broadway to bubble pop to folk/shanty. I like anything that I can sing along to, and I do have a rather nice singing voice.
I hope this is enough, and congratulations on 1000 followers! 💙
This post is part of the 1000 followers match up event. Entries for the event are now closed.
Your match is...Papa Emeritus IV
Tumblr media
He was shy at first too. But with his Papa paints on he gained confidence and went over to speak to you. He’s so easy to talk to, because he understands being shy, so you get along with him really well from the start.
“Would you like to play video games with me? It would be nice sì?” That’s how you got to know each other properly. You both love video games and hang out a lot together.
He loves that you want to take care of him, and he needs that sometimes. He often pushes himself too hard for his work. But Copia is always keeping an eye on you and he makes sure you are also cared for. He knows you might struggle to ask, so when he sees you getting stressed or tired he puts the day aside to pamper you.
Copia loves baking! He’ll happily help out whenever you want him to (Primo taught him) or he'll just keep you company. He enjoys making treats for his rats which you often help him with.
He’ll cuddle you midway through baking and kiss you on the cheek. Also watch out for him stealing treats when they are just cool enough to eat.
He loves signing along to music and his taste is very varied too. He adores your voice so he'll happily sit and listen. Also he loves joining in. He brought you a karaoke set for your birthday. A really high quality one with proper microphones and everything.
He’ll happily go camping with you, although he has never been camping much before. Copia is used to tour busses so he is really good at packing well and living in a smallish space. He really enjoys camping but at night when you hear strange noises he makes a few little rat noises. Just give him a cuddle and all will be well. If anything truely scary were to happen he would spring into action, Ghouls appearing from seemingly nowhere to protect you. Copia would put a protective arm around you and go full on Papa mode to deal with the situation. He will always keep you safe.
Weighing in on the lower case debate, I agree with you about it being a stylistic choice! A lot of writers who put their work on Tumblr use that format and to me it does read like a stream of consciousness, or like someone telling a story as opposed to writing it. Sure it's not as common on Ao3, but do you have the time to go changing everything when you cross post? As someone who loves your writing, I'd just like to see it in Ao3 at all so I can find it whenever!
thank you for your thoughts!!!
honestly, my free time IS really super limited but i dunno. i wanna do the right thing for everyone, haha
writing in lowercase does feel like the stylistic choice which has always felt most comfortable for me as a writer, and if people take issue with that on a stylistic/literary level i’m like, i disagree fundamentally that stylistic choices make the written word less valid and i’ll happily argue that. i understand the value and purpose of capitalization and the proper spaces and places to use it so like... it’s not a stubborn unwillingness to participate in grammar lmao. it just feels Right to me
HOWEVER, if people bring my use of case up as something that causes them discomfort and issues with accessibility, i would be inclined to see it as a caring thing to do for people who value my writing and thoughts, to write in a way that’s going to be accessible to folks. i’ve had a couple of people say they don’t mind my use of case and a couple of people say it’s an issue for them so it seems mixed to me
honestly... changing the case i write in all across my blog sort of feels a little like changing how my thoughts flow and i worry that my creativity might get cut off by doing so, which i’m nervous about. my relationship to inspiration (and being able to channel that inspiration into words i’m proud of) often feels tenuous at best and i feel like dreamling has Actually Fixed That for the first time in like a decade so i’m really loath to endanger that. i am... a more complete person when my relationship with words is better, i don’t know any other way to put it but that
so i figure... if i keep my blog the same, at least to edit the case when i crosspost to AO3 could be a fair compromise for folks who still want to interact with my stuff but can’t do so because of how i format it
does that make sense?
idk y’all. honestly i’m a therapist by trade and it REALLY comes out in a big way at times like this because it’s always really my main hope to be kind and thoughtful to others and for people to feel comfortable ;;;;
[ Gonna get serious here for a minute, folks! It's April, and while my muse for Tim has been low, it's still important to me that I not only participate in SAAM in my own personal life, but that I also address it at least somewhat through my art, including my writing here. I'll be doing that with my original works, of course, but since rp is a piece of my creative work that I consider important to me, I don't want to shy away from it here, either. Throughout this month, I will be participating in the conversation surrounding SA topics, as I find that, while I'm sure that it is well-meaning, there's almost no conversation about them in the comic fandom space, despite the fact that it is a very common issue to see in DC Comics (for better or worse. often worse). This is, in my opinion, in part due to a lack of awareness or good-faith education about these things, as it can be a sensitive topic, and I absolutely understand not breaching the subject out of concern of messing up or making it worse. I'm not here to shame anyone for messing up, getting things wrong, or not having anything to say on this topic.
What I am here to do, is bring the conversation to this blog. I will be discussing survivor support, the emotional trauma of being a survivor and having experiences of SA, and other topics that relate to this throughout the month.
Now, since this is a sensitive topic, I want to make a few things clear:
On my blog, I do not erase Tim's experiences with SA. That said, since DC often used female characters who are heroes (Rose and Greta, as examples), I also refuse to add to demonizing these women, because they do not deserve that treatment. So, whenever Tim mentions these experiences, they will be characters who were part of a separate universe from the ones that we all play in. Meaning that anyone who plays one of the characters who has done some type of unconsensual contact with Tim-- their muses will not be the ones who did the act, nor will the muns be expected to ever even touch on the subject with me. Consent is important, and that extends to things like what plots two people write together. I will never force a mun to engage in this conversation with me. It is your right to join in with me in talking about these things, and it is your right to stay out of it, as well. This is also explained in my rules.
I will be leaving anon on in my inbox for now. If there is any hate given to me or Tim because of this, anon will be switched off immediately. This is a one-strike system.
That said, if you have well-meaning questions, concerns, or comments, I will treat your message or ask in extremely good faith, and I will not get upset with you, so long as it's clear that you're approaching with respect.
I will not be disclosing any further details of my own experiences, but that said: I am myself an SA survivor. This is where I am coming from with these topics. I want that to be clear for two reasons: 1. I am well-versed in discussions about this, and 2. I will be drawing partially from my own experiences in this. This is to ensure both that the topics are handled with nuance, and that the topics are handled with care.
I will be tagging these things. Every post that I make that even so much as tangentially refers to SAAM or SA topics will be tagged six ways to sunday. Please block the tags if this is a triggering topic for you, and please take care of yourself throughout this month. I more than understand not being comfortable with these topics, and I wish you the best. The tags I'll be using are: # tw: sa ; # // sa ; # sa ; # saam ; tw: sa mention ; // sa mention ; sa mention Any one of those tags should help you filter, but feel free to block them all, just in case.
Participation with me is encouraged! Seriously, I mean this. I mean it when I say that I'm not going to get upset with you over mistakes, and if you approach with respect and understanding, then you may not even make mistakes at all. The point of this is not just for me to yell into the void about this stuff as some sort of art therapy; it's to begin a discussion and better our understanding as a fandom space of these kinds of topics. I can't promise that it'll be sunshine and rainbows, but I can promise that we'll create incredibly beautiful things together. It'll be okay. Come interact with me. I am here for you. <3
I'll be posting more tomorrow about what sorts of things to expect to see out of this, but for now, I just wanted to write a (belated) introduction post to what I'm going to be doing this month, and how I'm going to be handling SAAM. I really hope you'll consider writing with me about these topics, showing support, or otherwise engaging with me in this conversation.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you take care. Do something kind for yourself today <3 ]
(1/3) hey friend, i’ve been wanting to bring this up but haven’t totally known how to approach it… have you n puck ever considered taking down chap 21 of “10 minutes” until the next chapter is ready to be posted? i know that the fic is heavily and appropriately tagged for violence against sws, but it’s such a drag to have a great fic (imo as a former sw, it breaks a lot of stereotypes/fear-mongering/romanticization of the profession) that effectively “ends” on a scene of brutality.
(2/3) i know there’s a plan to finish the fic at some point and i don’t want this to be interpreted as pressure on y’all to change the direction of the story -violence is a real threat for many workers, not just sws, so there are stories to be told- but so often violence is connected to sw specifically, and in quite exploitative ways: murdered sw plot lines n all that. as this fic sits, one which has done so many things right in its portrayal of sw, john could be yet another dead h**ker.
(3/3) makes for a cliff hanger, sure, but also uses violence against sws as a “juicy” hook to keep folks reading. holding on to chap 21 until chap 22 is ready to be published wouldn’t change the plot/flow of the story but would get rid of this weird violent limbo that john is currently in… ahhggh not sure if any of this makes sense lol, getting my thoughts out of my adhd brain is difficult. things to ponder maybe?
hi!! thank you for the ask! first things first, JOHN IS NOT DEAD AND WILL NOT DIE, this is not that kind of a story, we wouldn't write that, he is MODERATELY BRUISED but will be FINE.
we discussed this with puck this morning, and we both understand so well where you're coming from! we talked about potentially taking chapter 21 down, but decided against it since that wouldn't be possible without losing all the comments it has so far gathered, and we'd hate to have that (they're my emotional support comments, i go and read them whenever i have a bad day and i'm Attached). however what we decided to do, is move things around a little bit in what we had originally planned for the chapter structure. the scene at the end of chp 21 exists to further the plot (sorry john, needs must) and to create tension in the story, as a plot beat. which is to build up tension that will then resolve and ykno, give us all a ton of dopamine? after this ask we decided to draw the tension from a different bit than this, and as such will resolve the scene like, next thing in chapter 22. we can also put in the author end notes of chp 21 that john will be absolutely fine (at least physically, but well, mentally he hasn't been fine for a............ w h i l e (again, sorry john)), how does that sound?
we are so very sorry that the next chapter is taking so long, we never anticipated there would be this kind of a break in our writing at this exact point in the story. i cringe even thinking about it, ending the chapter on that note and then vanishing for over a year, jesus christ i'm so sorry. we've just been both so busy that we haven't had much time to write at all, or energy to do so, and if we do have time and energy it's never at the same time. puck is currently busy with uni stuff, she's cramming in So Much Studies that i'm feeling anxious just hearing her list all that stuff, and i've been up to my neck in finishing up my studies and doing traineeships. i'm nearly done now though with my studies (woooo!) and have some free time for the next week or so, so i'm attempting to write the chapter on my own now, and then hurl it at puck for editing, which is easier than creating completely new text and she hopefully will have time for it. also she'll delight in fixing my awful sentence structures and telling me how bad my writing is, which is a plus.
i still can't promise an update soon though, because it's been over a year since we have looked at the chapter, and i first need to read back on the story a bit and then also get back to writing, which is Very Difficult if you haven't done it in a while. BUT things are now advancing at least, for the first time in a while. i really hope we don't keep you guys waiting for much longer. i think about this fic every few days and wallow in guilt, knowing people are eager to read the rest - and I'M TOO, HECK!!
lol re: adhd, i'll just quote you: "ahhggh not sure if any of this makes sense lol, getting my thoughts out of my adhd brain is difficult." i hope i'm making sense at all 😂
thank you so much for this ask! if anything, it's motivated me to take this drastic action of writing it ALONE since puck is going to be busy at least till january.
Hmm… I have been overloading Stargatelov3rs asks recently and during one of our discussions she brought up how you have a headcanon regarding the Daedalus being broken so they don’t have any easy access to earth.
First off, that idea is amazing, and second, could you expand on it?
Completely understandable if not. <3
so i haven't been as active, but i did see some of those conversations, and y'all were getting into some good stuff ahah. and yes ofc! i am the queen of long-winded rants so buckle up, folks aha.
so for some background, we were recording a new ep for our podcast, and as most of our listeners know, we all tend to get off topic pretty often lmfao. and so i went on this long ass tangent about how season one of atlantis is the best season of the show! regardless of personal feelings because it's the only season that truly sticks to the original premise. the premise being an expedition of humans travel to a new galaxy and have no connection to earth; therefore, they have to fight this new alien threat all by themselves.
I love atlantis and the franchise as a whole so much. I wouldn't be here if I didn't. but I'm also pretty vocal about all their shitty decisions lol. and unfortunately, there were a lot of those in atlantis! I don't know why the writing team thought it would be a good idea to keep that original premise for ONE season. I rly don't, but it drives me a little insane ngl ahha.
the reason season one is hands down the best of the show is because, throughout those 20 episodes, there is real tension. it rly feels like the team is barely scrapping by for most of the season, and watching them scramble on their own is what carries most if not all of the dramatic tension. and all of that excellent groundwork and foundation is immediately stripped by the second season. to clarify, it's not that the daedalus came to save atlantis at the end of the season. that's fine. it's the way the daedalus is used that ruins everything. (the daedalus is always there after season two to save the team whenever the plot requires them to).
so i came up with an idea to fix all of my issues with season two and the other season as well! i suggested keeping the finale of season one the same. at the eleventh hour, the daedalus shows up and basically saves atlantis. but instead of being able to go back and forth for season two, the hyperdrive breaks, causing colonel caldwell and the entire crew to become new residents of atlantis. this essentially changes very little about season two, except it brings back that dramatic tension and adds even more internal conflict to the base. now we have more people! but they weren't prepared for this expedition ooooooo. instead of that random ep where the team is on the daedulus being murdered by a computer virus, we could have an off-world & base dedicated ep! where we can see firsthand how much of an adjustment this is. colonel caldwell and elizabeth are clashing, john has to train new military personnel who have no idea what they're doing, and rodney is working with new scientists who don't listen or respect his leadership role.
you could even keep the original structure of the second season! the daedalus can be on standby, able to make small jumps to rescue the team if need be. but instead of just miraculously showing up and saving the day, this time, it actually makes sense lol. i think this change could do a lot for the show and its characters tbh because there’s so much they could’ve done with it! and maybe after half a season, the hyperdrive gets fixed. and half of the crew decide to leave with caldwell to get back to earth to warn them about the wraith. so the end of season two could be the team Finally having enough power to dial earth when something goes wrong. maybe michael sabotages it? or hell, maybe even the team decides to cut the transmission bc earth wants them to come back! im very much an atlantis should’ve been an independent colony stan lol (at least we’ll always have fic aha).
anyways sorry this is so long, and I hope this makes sense <3 it's a lot easier to rant when I don't have to type all this up ahah. thank you for asking this question tho !!!! I love talking about ways to fix atlantis lmfao cause while there's a lot to love, there's also a lot to critique ahah.
Hey uh~~ 10,000% fair to have gone into depresso espresso mode! And to have held off on continuing!
I have read 2 and 3, I actually devoured all three back to back to back 😅. And uhm~ HIGH KEY recommend that you continue on - when you feel you are ready.
As much as I understand people saying it gets worse, and it does! ... I actually would say that continuing on with the series is one of the best things people can do to process the (INTENSE) emotions these books illicit in people (or at least the people who do connect with the books, I've come across folks that just bounce off of them). These are books about some really remarkably terrible and traumatizing things - Colonialism, Empire, and their bed fellows - it's just also really well written and handled, which means it's ultimately about *healing* from these things, as opposed to just... Examining and sitting in their terribleness. Baru has been through a lot! She's *done* a lot! She's gonna go through and do a lot *more*! But The Masquerade, as a series, is not interested in just having literary fun with the ideas and tropes it invokes. Seth is clearly invested in actually unpacking and deconstructing them.
I'm being vague and abstract because I want to assure you it *is* worth it, but I don't want to rob you of the catharsis of Baru's Journey. The most else I would say (unprompted) is that just as I generally recommend folks continue on to book two as *part of* processing the end of book one, book two is imo best followed up by book three. But also ... That even with no recent news of when book four might be coming, I'm very happy and content to wait however long it takes.
Sorry for the word vomit lol. Just tistic about our autistic economics girl and her terrible no good very bad life under colonial empire ✨
"Oh shit uh~ also, lmao, totally feel you on how despite the shock and the pain, the ending of Traitor isn't actually surprising! Seth does a marvelous job building us up for everything that takes place in that final sequence, elegantly foreshadowing so much of what is to come, literally and symbolically."
I'm actually so relieved to hear you think that continuing on eases the pain somewhat- is it kind of like "the only way out is through"? And how did you feel when you finished book three, is the wait for book four dreadful or did you feel that it was a more tolerable pause point than the end of book one?
God I can't imagine reading this book and not being scarred (in a mostly good way) afterwards. I got so sucked in by the characters and the world and it was just so real and felt so personal despite my having little overlapping experiences with Baru.
I love the writing and the world building and just the absolute rawness that Seth gave this story so much! I'm sure I've been missing out on a whole flavour of books and stories, but to me Baru's story has been such a refreshing perspective on those themes- seeing the planning and calculating and heartache of the person that would otherwise be painted as only ruthless and cold. Also seeing the accountant's point of view as opposed to just another war general or strategist I think was such a great decision since it allowed for more tracking of character's movements within the plot in ways that I haven't seen in other works.
My absolute favorite feeling when I'm consuming a story is to be shocked and reevaluate everything that led up to that moment. I plan on re-reading the whole series whenever book four does come out and I am absolutely shaking with excitement already knowing that the whole first book will read differently with the knowledge of what's to come! Every little hint of her true intentions was hidden in plain sight so well!
And don't apologize for the word vomit, I'm so happy to talk about this book/series with someone! Genuinely need the tumblr support group after all the emotional damage lol book two here I come
Hello byler tumblr!
Im new to posting on tumblr (though i have lurked on this tag as a guest since this ship was a thing) and i have some thoughts on possible byler parallels to share! I’m trying to understand all the etiquette and everything, i tried to keep this post as short as i could to not crowd the tag, so i didn’t include any pics in this post. When i figure out how to do the bit where i can extend the post, etc i will rewrite and include pics!
These are things i picked up from my 5th rewatch of season 4! I havent seen anyone talk about these, but as byler is a huge ass tag im sure its a possibility someone else said it before i did, so pls feel free to tell me if they did ! again im new to tumblr so if you do in fact try to tell me it might take me a bit to figure it out lol
Mister Rogers Familial Parallel(s)
As has been picked up before, there are many parallels between Mazzy Starr and their family members and one specific one that i saw between Hopper and Mike was the slaying of the dragon in Will’s painting and Hopper slaying the demogorgon in the prison. Idk if its anything big but i thought it was interesting!
Jopper Color Coding and Their Arc!
I know theres a few tik tok accs out there that talk a lot about color coding, but i hadnt seen a video about this: joyce and hopper’s matching outfits in vol 2. Was this supposed to be like hinting at their completed arc? Like color wise they are matching–maybe on the same page? I just thought it was interesting–and i was wondering if anyone had thoughts about the colors they used? Or maybe it was just supposed to be all american themed because of what Yuri takes into his cargo–the peanut butter, the hulk hogan shirt, and the red white and blue jackets.
The Platonic with a Capital P Parallels!
So this is (one reason) why i think Jancy will be canon in S5. While the Fruity Four are in the upside down, i noticed that most often whenever anything dangerous happens, Nancy and Steve are paired together, while Robin and Eddie are paired together. While this may lead some folks to believe that Steve and Nancy will be rekindling their ~romance~,, seeing it compared to Robin and Eddie makes me think otherwise. Robin is canonically lesbian, and Eddie is definately queer-coded, intentional or not. When in danger robin and eddie are physically close and almost sort of cuddling? Im pretty sure there are several scenes where they are even holding hands, but that could just be my memory being wacked. So what does this mean for steve and nancy? I just think its interesting that they are being compared to a definite platonic pairing like eddie and robin :)
The Rabbit???
This isnt a parallel but i was wondering if anyone had talked about this??? Or had any thoughts??? I hadnt seen anyone talk about this, but theres a scene at the end of vol 2 where Karen Wheeler takes a box of old toys/stuffed animals out to Nancy and she notices an old stuffed rabbit amongst the group. Karen then tells her “Oh its alright i you want to keep him” or something along those lines, i cant remember as of this second. I literally JUST watched this scene at least 10 mins ago so there goes to show how bad my memory is. Anyway nancy replies back with something like “no its alright he’ll be loved in a better home if i give him away” and it just seemed….out of nowhere? Like why would you put that dialogue in there for no reason. It just felt like stark contrast to everything else in the show–why like take a moment to talk about that ? maybe its bad writing, maybe its something bigger. Could it have something to do with the love triangle? With steve? She loves him (not in love tho) but can see he needs a better “home”? Her interests dont seem to line up with his–just look at the quote about having kids for example. He wants 6 of them while she doesnt seem to open to the idea. But these are just thoughts! I was wondering if anyone else had some ideas about these?
The following was sent to me through private message.:
I wanted to reach out privately and earnestly to let you know something that (I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt) you probably didn't know.
Advocating for the abolition of ALL religion is cultural genocide.
Jewish people, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists and several groups of folk religions and pagan religions will be eradicated, taking important cornerstones of people's culture with them.
Most of these people are disenfranchised (at least in the west anyway) and advocating for their culture to be wiped out is both harmful and dare I say a very insidious kind of bigotry.
I don't blame you if you didn't know but I wanted to tell you so that, well, you would know. What you choose to do with that information is up to you but seriously consider whether who you WANT to hurt is worth hurting thousands of people you might not even have been thinking of.
Anyway, thanks for reading all this and please consider focusing on more constructive efforts, like advocating against cults and proseletyzing.
Have a good day, whenever it is that you see this.
As there is far too much to address in e mere private chat (this is one of the longest posts I've ever written), I said I would address it in a full post and gave her the option of how I would convey her original question:
Quote the whole thing, including her name.
Quote the whole thing, but removing her name.
Summarize as faithfully as possible the issue, but in my own words and understanding.
I also answered that in short, the answer is no.
The response was that she didn't want this taken public, followed by:
And it IS cultural genocide. Judging by your blog, you either grew up or still are culturally Christian so it isn't really your place to tell religious minorities or disenfranchised people how to handle our own disenfranchisement.
Basically, that I'm not allowed to have an opinion or better information. Or less racist ideas. Based, as usual, on stereotypes (don't worry, we'll get there). She assumed my identity categories in order to justify ignoring me. This is Standpoint Epistemology.
https://twitter.com/SwipeWright/status/1410359907249971207
Standpoint theory combined with intersectionality, taken to the extreme (as is currently being done), is the codification of the ad hominem fallacy into an epistemology. It no longer matters what is said; it matters who said it.
They will assume your categories and decide "your place" (their word) for you. And you must stay in the lane they have prescribed for you, and adhere to their higher awareness, or you're a blasphemer and heretic. You must not burst their confirmation bubble. You must adhere to the narrow path. You must not offer an "outside" (by their judgement) perspective to counterbalance groupthink.
"Listen and believe." "Shut up and listen."
https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/logicalfallacies/Ad-Hominem-Circumstantial
Ad Hominem (Circumstantial)
argumentum ad hominem
(also known as: appeal to bias, appeal to motive, appeal to personal interest, argument from motives, conflict of interest, faulty motives, naïve cynicism, questioning motives, vested interest)
Description: Suggesting that the person who is making the argument is biased or predisposed to take a particular stance, and therefore, the argument is necessarily invalid.
She then proceeded to block me.
Except, that's not how this actually works, no matter how shrill the protestations. And how racist the assumptions are.
So, I have decided to make the choice for her (#2), and proceed to point out how ignorant and also racist this entire mess of nonsense is.
Whether or not she wanted this public, I can certainly write up my own post on this topic. While I will generally try to honor the wishes of those I talk to - e.g. anonymity for ex-Muslims who are in physical danger - I am not beholden to such demands, least of all from people who insist I must only talk about a particular topic in private, and cannot write anything publicly on the subject. (This is not unlike the current campaign against curriculum transparency, opposing the idea that you should be able to see what people are up to.)
Strap in, this is lengthy, which is why I wasn't prepared to do it in private chat.
Let's begin.
==
In your opening, you indicated that you wanted to reach out "earnestly." The follow-up would suggest otherwise, that this was not for discussion, but for immediate action and compliance. The postmodernist equivalent of being told to accept Jesus Christ or burn in hellfire.
Yeah, I don't do that. You clearly don't know anything about me.
Tumblr media
Confirmed.
So, in the interests of that earnestness and sincerity, I suggest we cut to the chase and name up front what we're talking about. Let's be clear, this is very specific terminology that doesn't just come from nowhere.
A person doesn't just come up with such histrionic ideas and hyperbolic language out of thin air, from her own contemplations. As we've already seen based on your complete, unrepentant adherence to the Ad Hominem fallacy through Standpoint, this is postmodern Critical Theory activism being parroted. It's textbook. Literally. There are no new or independent ideas here, just the vacuous, empty echo of a drone repeating its programming.
So, just so that we're clear, yes, I see you.
But what actually gave it away is the phrase "cultural genocide". Because this is what we're actually referring to.
Tumblr media
To normal, sane humans this looks, well, insane. While activists will try to gaslight you into accepting that this is a more enlightened, greater understanding - as the private messager did - it truly is deranged and unhinged from reality.
So, let me explain. Critical Social Justice does not deal with individuals or with universal humanity. Indeed, it actually explicitly rejects it.
"Many of these movements initially advocated for a type of liberal humanism (individualism, freedom, and peace) but quickly turned to a rejection of liberal humanism. The logic of individual autonomy that underlies liberal humanism (the idea that people are free to make independent rational decisions that determine their own fate) was viewed as a mechanism for keeping the marginalized in their place by obscuring larger structural systems of inequality. In other words, it fooled people into believing that they had more freedom and choice than societal structures actually allow."
-- Sensoy/DiAngelo, "Is Everyone Really Equal?"
Only categories matter, since CSJ views society as stratified by categories, and individuals are simply puppets in this structure (i.e. literally a conspiracy theory).
And this includes Ability/Disability as an identity characteristic. That is, they think people do and should consider their (dis)ability as a core element of their identity.
This is the exact opposite of the "I am not my disability" that is the counterpart of the Liberal mainstay of color-blindness: I am not defined by my skin color. I am not defined by my disability. You may observe and note them, but I am not defined by them, and I don't want you to deal with me through those aspects.
This is actually the foundational premise of Critical Disability Studies. Also not a joke. This is a real - in the sense that it exists, not in the sense it's legitimate - pseudo-discipline in the Theoretical Humanities.
(So is Critical Animal Studies, by the way, which asks why we grant humans rights and privileges that we don't grant to other non-human animals, and encourages us to rid ourselves of the language of oppression we use when referring to our pets. Such as the word "owner". Not a joke.)
So, when you consider that people are born deaf or may become deaf through some kind of condition or accident, CSJ theology regards that as an identity category, rather than simply a medical condition.
It is actually opposed to medical treatments that would restore or grant hearing, because it would erase that identity group. Nobody would die, but nobody would identity with this medical condition any more.
(They won't have any qualms about transitioning a four year old, though.)
Tumblr media
This is what CSJ activists mean by "cultural genocide." They mean that "deaf culture," whatever that means, will be systematically exterminated by powerful groups to enforce "normativity", akin to how the Nazis exterminated Jews. They're not joking.
Make no mistake, cultural genocide exists, such as the Uyghurs. People can, and have, invaded and sought the decimation of entire people.
But, while activists are desperately trying to pretend they're equivalent, they're not. And it's testament to this ideology's disconnect from reality that they would work so hard to pretend so, and how they would throw people's wellbeing under the bus of their theology's virtue.
Nobody dies by finding technologies and medical procedures to grant people hearing, or prevent deafness occurring in the first place.
Nobody dies by people discarding superstitious beliefs and changing their culture to be aligned with reality and non-theistic values, which is what we mean by embracing the ongoing decline of religion.
All that happens is that an identity label disappears. Because nobody needs it any more.
This bizarre mentality isn't just reserved for deafness, it's pervasive across Disability Studies, including curing blindness, restoring limbs, treating mental illness, and for some bizarre reason, autism. That is, it's "cultural genocide" to treat "schizophrenia culture" or to support research into eliminating autism. It's typical for people with this kind of activism to adopt the mental health identities, as they're self-identified and invisible; my interlocutor had self-diagnosed and self-identifeid as "autistic." In her bio, of course.
It's also pervasive across the anti-science of Fat Studies, which views "the effort to eradicate fat people via weight loss as a form of genocide perpetrated by the medical profession" (direct quote from the doctrine).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zy7O-xgN3hw&t=24m36s
"More recently we've seen the rise of Critical Studies of Ableism and Fat Studies. These draw to a great extent on Queer Theory.
They ask themselves why we think it is better for body parts to work and for people not to be morbidly obese.
They answer themselves that it's because science, that false authority that seeks to police and oppress people, has declared it to be so due to an underlying hatred of disabled and fat people.
They advocate a different form of knowledge. One that relies on the lived experience of disabled and fat people.
Unless they prefer not to be disabled or fat, in which case they've internalized this medicalized oppression, and they need to be reprimanded and ignored."
-- Helen Pluckrose, "The Rise and Whys of Grievance Studies"
(BTW, this is the reason that there was precious little talk about the significant risk factor obesity plays in survival of COVID. Activists will say "hey, this slim person died too" - not knowing what "risk factor" means - "so this is just medicalized bigotry.")
It's like getting upset when Ford discontinued all cars in favor of SUVs, and calling it "vehicular genocide." No one actually dies, and no production capacity is actually reduced, but nothing will roll off the assembly line with the badge "Taurus" ever again. Just like how people discarding Islam will mean that their children will be born, but won't call themselves "Muslim" any more.
What this is really bemoaning is the end of a label. Because that's what this ideology cares about. Ones that it fetishizes, while ignoring the ones it doesn't. Like Xianity. You'll see no such alarmist language over the decline of Xianity.
Why this is the case is itself worth a look, because it's just as deranged as the resulting wails of "cUlTuRaL gEnOcIdE!1!!"
==
The aforementioned stratified power structure is formalized in the Intersectional Wheel of Power. This Sesame Street-level understanding of society is taught unironically in colleges, and increasingly, in the lower schools by activist teachers sneaking it into their curriculum. It takes everyone and pigeon holes them into stereotyped "oppressor"/power and "oppressed"/"marginalized" classes within each identity category - race, gender, ability, etc.
It cares nothing about the individual or their circumstances. For example, Oprah Winfrey, with her millions of follows and billions of dollars is "oppressed" and "marginalized" as a black woman.
To disagree with this higher wisdom means you have "fragility," or "internalized oppression."
While "religion" does not appear on the above linked copy of the Wheel, I've seen some that do. And Xianity is an "oppressor" class in this domain, with... what was it?
Jewish people, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists and several groups of folk religions and pagan religions
Ah yes, that... as the "oppressed" class. It doesn't matter to the activist that Hinduism has 1.2 billion adherents, or that Hindutva fundamentalists are seizing control of segments of India. It doesn't matter that Islam is dominant in many countries, to the point of making it illegal to not be a Muslim in some. It doesn't matter that there are 1.9 billion Muslims. Because Xianity has been the most prevalent in the USA and many western countries, and Islam much less so, this means "Muslim" is an oppressed identity, while "Xian" is a privileged, oppressor identity.
Notice how parochial and juvenile this proposition is, though. This is all about the limited, childish view of academics in privileged positions in higher education in first world countries. It's a completely US-centric view, ironically colonized to other countries.
But it's why people critical of Islam, and particularly ex-Muslims, are routinely accused of "Islamophobia". The fact that someone can simply think their way out of a (purported) "oppressed" class just blows their tiny minds. Because in the Clown World of Intersectionality, opposing Islam is opposing a marginalized, oppressed group. Even where it's dominant.
This is also why it's okay to whine about the "oppression" of women in first world secular countries, where their rights are enshrined in law and their voices hugely influential, but where Xianity is prevalent. But you must not mention that women are routinely arrested for removing hijab or being unaccompanied, gay people are routinely executed, and blasphemers routinely sentenced to death.
The only thing surprising to me about this person's unhinged "genocide" claim is that it included Judaism, as Jews are traditionally given "white privilege" by Intersectionalists.
"Another aspect of the construction of whiteness is the way certain groups have moved into the white race. For example, early in our history Irish, Jews, and Italians were considered nonwhite—that is, on a par with African Americans. Over time, they earned the prerogatives and social standing of whites by joining labor unions, by swearing fealty to the Democratic Party, and by acquiring wealth, sometimes by illegal or underground activity. Whiteness, it turns out, is not only valuable, it is shifting and malleable."
-- Delgado/Stefancic, "Critical Race Theory, An Introduction."
Which is the reason for the recent uptick in antisemitic attacks. Antiracist (i.e. neoracist) and Intersectional activists view Jews as "white allied" and therefore fair game. The Squad is notorious for exactly this.
Ditto the anti-Asian violence. All fuelled by Intersectionality, and unsurprising given the stratification Intersectionality invented and insists is pervasive, the "normal science" of society.
A look at her blog, however, suggests she herself is Jewish, providing the explanation, as self-interest will always win out in the more ambiguous areas.
==
With all of that out of the way, there isn't a whole lot else that needs to be said to rebut this idiocy, where people can't walk away from their religion or it'll hurt the feelings of Intersectional lunatics.
Still, it's worth exploring some of the other fallacious and reality-disconnected thinking.
If you were simply trying to puzzle out the meaning of this bizarre claim, you now have your answer: a label will fade out of use. Nothing more, nothing less. Like "Ford Granada," "Hellenist," "slave owner" or "Führer." If you're happy with that explanation, you can probably scroll on to the next post in your dashboard.
For more on how this mentality meanders, crashes and burns, feel free to Keep Reading after the jump. Be forewarned that it's very long.
Now that we know what "cultural genocide" means in this context, we can reject this entirely and need address nothing further. It's already fallen apart. But let's proceed.
Advocating for the abolition of ALL religion is cultural genocide.
Jewish people, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists and several groups of folk religions and pagan religions will be eradicated, taking important cornerstones of people's culture with them.
Let's notice the sleight of hand being pulled here. Going from "all religion" in the first line to "people" and "groups" in the second. And even going so far as to attempt this gem of blatant dishonesty.
hurting thousands of people
Religions are just ideas. They're not entitled to exist. We have thousands of abandoned and discarded religions through our history, and nobody need weep for them. We have even more abandoned ideologies and beliefs than full-blown religions.
"People" and "groups" are, well, people.
Not only does this conflate - or misrepresent - religion with culture, worse, it's conflating culture with the people participating in it. That people are their beliefs.
Tumblr media
More insidiously, that one can deduce someone's beliefs from their identity categories. That all people in any given category have the same experience and viewpoint, or if they don't, they have "internalized oppression" and are dismissed as not Authentic.
So, let's rephrase this just a little, but not actually all that much.
Advocating for the removal of magical thinking and ancient superstition is cultural genocide. Abandoning magical thinking and ancient superstition will eradicate Jewish people, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists and several groups (of people) of folk religions and pagan religions, taking away the foundation (magical thinking and ancient superstition) they sit upon.
Read the original and the rephrasing again. How did I do? Does it seem more sane or less sane when clarity is added.
While, as we've already seen, it is true that removal of religion will remove the terminology of "Jew", "Muslim", etc, because those terms will serve little purpose, that's like complaining that if we get rid of Nazism, we won't be able to call people "Nazis" any more. I doubt Intersectional activists know, let alone worry, what a Zoroastrian or Hellenist is, or why there are so few of them.
In any event, it's not phrased that way, is it? It's phrased as if advocating for people to abandon primitive superstitions is the same as calling for them to be hunted down, rounded up and killed. Using the incendiary word "genocide," after all, not to mention "hurting thousands of people."
But people abandoning religions doesn't involve anyone dying or being hurt. Non-belief has steadily grown in countries like the US, UK, Canada, Australia and many others without a single death. Except, you know, when the fundie relatives "honor kill" the apostate. But that's probably their "culture."
Sure, people's feelings might be hurt.
"If someone tells me that I've hurt their feelings, I say, 'I'm still waiting to hear what your point is.'
In this country, I've been told, 'That's offensive' as if those two words constitute an argument or a comment.
Not to me they don't."
-- Christopher Hitchens
But, so what? It's trivially easy to manufacture offence from nothing. Anyone can claim offence, real or imagined. People's feelings are their problem. The person who messaged me doesn't seem to give a shit about my feelings while lecturing me, so clearly this doesn't really bother her.
"It's now very common to hear people say, "I'm rather offended by that" - as if it gives them certain rights.
It's no more than a whine. "I find that offensive. " It has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase.
"I'm offended by that."
Well, so fucking what?
-- Stephen Fry
Or is it that she only cares about certain people's feelings? Like any garden variety bigot?
People can simply change their minds. And they don't need arrogant ivory-tower ideologues to gatekeep whether they do so. One of the best ways to actually destroy a culture is to gatekeep it, because people will simply stop participating. People don't need to be made to feel guilty by shallow, racist activists invested in sustaining the romantic stereotypes they've built up in their minds.
Because that's what this ideology runs on: cliches and stereotypes.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noble_savage
A noble savage is a literary stock character who embodies the concept of the indigene, outsider, wild human, an "other" who has not been "corrupted" by civilization, and therefore symbolizes humanity's innate goodness.
The noble savage is exotic, unfamiliar, has a mystique, glamor and romanticism compared with the boring predictability of the familiar. The grass is always greener. "Hijab is empowering!"
What's not stated outright in this fetish, but is made clear in the assertion of "cultural genocide" is that cultures other than liberal, western society are sufficiently dependent upon superstition and magical thinking for their "other ways of knowing" that if you take those away, there is nothing left of them.
While western societies are stuck scrutinizing the minutiae of mathematic calculationa and fussing about with testing evidence, non-western societies are engaged in broad, romantic storytelling of sweeping tales that tell of an imaginary origin, and which they hold dear. Even if they're not true. To take that away is to destroy them, because they have nothing else. Science, evidence and reason are "white, western" ways of knowing.
Except that non-Western societies haven't collapsed as they've already been discarding superstition and magical thinking, and are continuing to do so.
(On the other hand, Western civilization itself might collapse if the postmodern form of superstition of numinous forces, magical thinking about language, and anti-science, anti-objectivity social constructivism continues to infect it.)
This ideology doesn't actually think very highly of other cultures. It regards them as primitive and credulous, and its members practically another species. That they don't have the same wishes and desires. It just regards that as a good thing. A good thing for them to be immune to science. A good thing to put myth and storytelling above objective reality. It just wants to appear more morally righteous about "diverse" and "inclusive" and "tolerant" it is about looking down on them.
Because this ideology is founded on stereotypes and cliches. Where we had spent decades abandoning stereotypes of all types, this ideology recapitulates them as virtues. It is thus extremely racist, sexist, bigoted and, ironically, colonialist. See: Anti-colonial Diktat.
==
Let's take a moment though, because we've been talking about "culture" but we need to consider what we mean by that.
Culture is something you participate in, it's something that you do, it's what surrounds you, it's your way of life.
Culture is not a biological or inherent property of anything or anyone. It is what people do and the way they do it. And that is completely independent of any inherited, biological trait.
I know two people from different parts of Africa. Both were born, raised and grew up in Africa. They even completed mandatory military service. Both are white. Both are more culturally "African" (ignoring for a moment that "Africa" is not a monolith or single culture) than Oprah Winfrey or Kanye West, who are black Americans; both Oprah and Kanye are culturally American, not African.
There are some particularly troubling inevitable conclusions/side effects of this culture vs ethnicity train of thought. Because it positions someone like Oprah as being not- or less-American, as being outside of American culture, by associating her with being African. She's not. She's culturally American. Her ethnicity and biological ancestry trace back to Africa, but she herself is culturally American.
Because culture does not travel down ethnic or biological lines. It's worth noting here that the average black American has between 16-24% European ancestry, and about 5% native American ancestry.
Since it's something you participate in, culture changes all the time, because what people do and how they do it changes. It's not a defined box of someone's personal preconceptions that must be protected at all costs. When people discard a tradition, it's not for you to decide that they shouldn't, or that it ruins their culture, or that their culture has been destroyed by not complying with your expectations.
Nobody owns culture.
https://cheshireinthemiddle.tumblr.com/post/131407267302
And to top it off, basically 80 percent of japanese customs, traditions, and food, came from other countries. Japanese is an integration of different cultures, like america. Japan takes influences from places like korea, china, russia, and europe. If japan stuck to itself, there would be no tempura, japanese tea, tea ceremonies, kabuki, japanese bread, japanese curry, j- pop, anime, cars, or modern fishing techniques.
Not only do these change over time, but one of the key points about culture is that it's shared and adopts parts of other cultures it encounters. Cultures mash together, they split apart, they change and evolve.
That's what humanity does. It stops living in isolated boxes and thinking it got everything right the first time, and instead interacts and learns from each other.
People like this clearly sheltered activist should try it some time.
And religion itself is not "culture." An American Xian and an American atheist will have far more in common culturally than an American Xian and a Zambian Xian. Religion is only one part of any given culture, and yes, that includes Islam and Judaism and other religions. Those religions are not practiced the same everywhere in the world, and to think so would be incredibly ignorant.
The Arabs existed as Arabs long before Islam came along and conquered them 1400 years ago. The Canaanites existed before Judaism arose. Indonesia was a country with people in it long before it became infested with Islam. Ditto Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia and Iran.
Remember Egypt? Remember Egyptian culture? Existed long before Islam came along and imposed its dogma onto the country.
Consider Islam itself. Moderate, "religion of peace" Islam is an invention of the last 100 years. Its purported inclusiveness and congeniality is a modern, Western fabrication. As any recognized Islamic tafsir (exegesis/commentary/analysis, e.g. Ibn Kathir) will confirm, traditional Islam looks far more like the Taliban than the "religion of peace" hijabi with a tattoo showing in the small of her back above the waist of her low-rise jeans.
Is it "cultural genocide" if Islam moderates and becomes less fundamentalist as many Muslims are trying to achieve, as Xianity underwent reform? Are you suggesting that it's unreasonable for Islam to change, and that it should remain in its original war-like state? If you're concerned about "cultural genocide," shouldn't you want Islam to remain in its purest, most untainted, most fundamentalist original state? Rather than adopting values and ideas from Western cultures?
And no, that's not a misconception.
Islam has also only existed for the last 1400 years. When it arose, it stole "borrowed" from Xianity and Judaism. It plagiarized the previous mythology (compare Sura 5.32 with Sanhedrin 37a) and claimed to be the "true" version of the word of the Abrahamic god. Does it trouble you that the spread of Islam wiped out the Quraysh? Both the people and the culture? How do you decide which cultures to get upset about and which ones to let die out without any concern?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Women being trapped in black body bags might be - nay, is - completely Islamic, but it's not Afghan culture, Somali culture or Indonesian culture. Those still exist, buried and half-remembered under the Islamic bullshit.
If you want to talk "cultural genocide," let's talk about the obliteration of many cultural traditions at the point of an Islamic sword. About how distinct, rich cultures are now haunted by interchangeable Dementors, who only exist and never get to live.
Given all of this, labelling the decline of religion "cultural genocide" is one of the single stupidest things I've ever heard.
People are not their beliefs. They are not their traditions.
Jewish people, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists and several groups of folk religions and pagan religions will be eradicated, taking important cornerstones of people's culture with them.
Cornerstones will be removed? Good. Build new cornerstones. Better ones. Ones built on reality. Ones built on truth. Ones built on humanity rather than power and control justified by magic, divine revelation and the god of the gaps.
This mentality seem to convey the misconception that religions and cultures don't already do this anyway.
Islam consistently tries to pretend that the quran doesn't say that the Earth is flat. Judaism has already abandoned the notion that the Exodus is literally true.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Exodus#Origins_and_historicity
Mainstream scholarship no longer accepts the biblical Exodus account as history for a number of reasons. Most scholars agree that the Exodus stories were written centuries after the apparent setting of the stories.
So, what's going on here then? "Cultural suicide"? People aren't allowed to change their own cultures? They're only allowed to make them more superstitious, more magically thinking, rather than less? They're to be denied access to such resources as scientific archaeology, and instead remain under traditional, ancient misconceptions?
https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/logicalfallacies/Appeal-to-Tradition
Appeal to Tradition argumentum ad antiquitatem (also known as: appeal to common practice, appeal to antiquity, appeal to traditional wisdom, proof from tradition, appeal to past practice, traditional wisdom) Description: Using historical preferences of the people (tradition), either in general or as specific as the historical preferences of a single individual, as evidence that the historical preference is correct.  Traditions are often passed from generation to generation with no other explanation besides, “this is the way it has always been done”—which is not a reason, it is an absence of a reason.
Religions didn't get into place by being true, or by reasoning themselves into their positions of influence. It was wrong for them to seize that influence and control in the first place. That they've had it for a long time is not a reason to perpetuate it.
Eliminating religion has literally nothing to do with eliminating people. Nor does it have anything whatsoever to do with everything else about their culture that is not religious.
Over 100 infant boys die each year of circumscision-related causes. That's 1.3% of all male neonatal deaths. One day, Jews may finally abandon the superstition that they should cut off a chunk of their baby boy's penis in order to garner the favor of a god who stars in a book they wrote declaring themselves to be that same god's Chosen People. One day, Muslims may abandon the same to comply with the demands of their prophet's sock-puppet god.
Innumerable children would be saved, by abandoning these primitive superstitions. Not to mention the lives of their potential offspring (that was me doing a cute callback to 5.32/Sanhedrin 37a).
Imagine for a moment that all these superstitious, religious traditions start to fall away. People abandon them, as they've abandoned stoning non-virgin girls to death (well, excluding Islam, of course), and justifying slavery with religious doctrine (again, excluding Islam, of course).
So, who has actually been exterminated by abandoning these myths? Uh, nobody. What has been lost? Belief in a magical man in the sky who was never there in the first place, and people praying to him instead of solving their problems, and devoting their lives to something that isn't true.
And an identity label. But, of course, this is the most important thing of all to the Intersectionalist.
What culture has been lost? Evidence-free - and false - superstitious delusion. What happens to Jewish culture now? It adapts using human traditions, including the history of magical myths and delusions, but without the continuation or declaration of them being true.
As their children - well, the ones who survive - become less and less religious, what exactly has been genocided? Why not evolve what could - admittedly, uncharitably - be regarded as an absurd weekly Friday-night seance, conducted over scriptural events that never happened, and turn it into a cultural tradition of gathering as a family once a week to Chromecast photos. What's wrong with a cultural tradition that no longer includes the threat of some ghastly overlord who will rebuke them for serving ham?
This type of person really doesn't seem to understand that culture and traditions are not people. That it's the people who determine and make the culture, not the other way around. This really seems to be how little they understand culture.
Many of the members of these religions are themselves trying to reshape the religions. While Western feminists are prancing about playing dress-ups in hijab, women are getting arrested in Iran for removing the hijab because they want the same privileges that the feminists take for granted.
And yet, activists lecture us about preservation of "culture." There are people literally dying to reshape their own culture to gain access to the privileges they spit on.
Muslim Reformist to Sally Kohn: Stop Working Against Us
it is not "genocide" when the people decide not to do it any more. Even when triggered activists don't like it and somehow conjure offence out of asserting the cultural agency that they would prefer to deny them.
Using absurd, alarmist language - and the fallacy of Argument by Repetition - doesn't change that.
https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/logicalfallacies/Argument-by-Repetition
Argument by Repetition
argumentum ad nauseam
(also known as: argument from nagging, proof by assertion)
Description: Repeating an argument or a premise over and over again in place of better supporting evidence.
Simply insisting over and over that it's "cultural genocide" doesn't make it true. It might be "true" by the tortured, contrived jargon that some ivory tower academic has invented for political means. But that doesn't make it legitimate complaint.
As the second message indicates, this person didn't really have anything else to offer. She just repeated her assertion and expected - nay, demand - it to go unchallenged. I am neither stupid nor gullible.
I mean, really, I didn't have to go to all this trouble of writing all this up. She offered literally nothing, so I could really simply ignore her.
But this is more fun, so here we are.
So for someone to insist that culture can be exterminated by the decline of religion is just a roundabout way of saying that they don't have any idea what culture actually is.
Most of these people are disenfranchised (at least in the west anyway) and advocating for their culture to be wiped out is both harmful and dare I say a very insidious kind of bigotry.
Except that people actually travel to the west, don't they, in order to seek and participate in the benefits of such a society. To find and obtain enfranchisement. This is playing pretend like they're trapped and imprisoned in western societies, at the mercy of some repressive regime.
You're thinking of the Taliban, sweetie.
disenfranchise | ˌdisənˈfran(t)SHīz | (also disfranchise | disˈfranCHīz | )
verb [with object]
deprive (someone) of the right to vote: the law disenfranchised some 3,000 voters on the basis of a residence qualification. • (as adjective disenfranchised) deprived of power; marginalized: a hard core of kids who are disenfranchised and don't feel connected to the school. • deprive (someone) of a right or privilege: a measure that would disenfranchise people from access to legal advice. • archaic deprive (someone) of the rights and privileges of a free inhabitant of a borough, city, or country.
Tumblr media
Nobody in a western country is "disenfranchised." Liberal, secular societies are notoriously neutral in their applications of rights and privileges, including voting. As long as you're a citizen, which is not an unreasonable requirement.
What's amusing is that activists like this will wail about disenfranchisement or marginalization on the one hand, and also rail against "The Wall" on the other. Look at the way she phrased it:
disenfranchised (at least in the west anyway)
This means certainly disenfranchised in the west, and maybe, but maybe not, disenfranchised elsewhere. That things will be worse in a western country with liberal, secular values.
Surely if this is the case, one should really be in favor of "The Wall" to prevent immigrants from wasting their time in a country where they'll be worse off? I wonder whether the people who risked their lives, or abandoned everything they knew to make the journey, to find new opportunities, who now drive this activist's Ubers and tend the grounds to her college think the same way? What a luxury belief to hold.
In regards to "power," there are people like Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who was elected to Dutch parliament, you have the proudly unrepentant antisemite, Ilhan Omar, among many others. Nobody is preventing anyone from accessing all levels, all opportunities within society, if they wish to, or have the capability.
You know where people are disenfranchised? India. Where there are castes and untouchables. In Iran, where women are denied rights and privileges on religious grounds. In Saudi Arabia where an actual patriarchy exists, and women are subject to guardianship laws. Who else is disenfranchised? Women in Pakistan, gay people in Iran, the Uyghurs in China.
But wait a minute. The word "power" doesn't mean that in a postmodern sense, does it? It's more vague, and refers to the idea of one's practices being the cultural norms. That is, that groups are "disenfranchised" simply by virtue of being in a relative minority.
That's literally all it means. It doesn't matter what those people actually think or what they actually experience. It doesn't matter that people want to be in countries where these norms exist, because they value them too, the ideology defines this "problem" into existence.
"I read Alexis de Tocqueville, and I read about democracy, and I lived in countries that have no democracy, that have no founding fathers… so I don’t find myself in the same luxury as you. You grew up in freedom, and you can spit on freedom because you don’t know what it is not to have freedom."
-- Ayaan Hirsi Ali
The postmodern conception of being "disenfranchised" is the trivial fact of being held to the same standards and expectations as everyone else in the country in which they choose to reside - and in many cases, risk their lives to emigrate to.
This absurd, postmodern ideology is based on identity groups, and it finds it unreasonable for cultural relativism (I refer you once again to Yasmine above) to not be applied, no matter what the outcome. Because noble savage. Because different species. Because there's no universal humanity, only categories and boxes and lenses and identity groups and positionality.
What it calls for, and this isn't even a secret, is segregation. We're seeing exactly this in schools. Because with people divided into superficially homogenous groups (ala "affinity groups"), there are no "minorities." The "norms" of the group are perceived to be all the same. Which is to say, this ideology is racist, sexist and full of every other bigotry ever invented, because it assumes everyone with the same superficial group markers has the same values. It values only diversity of these superficial attributes, not diversity of ideas.
What's actually bigotry is cultural relativism. Holding one culture to a lower standard than another. The bigotry of low expectations. Expecting and accepting lower or different standards because of the belief that they're not capable of it and cannot achieve it.
Such as the notion that it's unreasonable to expect immigrants to Sweden to not rape.
Even when people come to liberal, secular countries to embrace the freedom and opportunity and marketplace of ideas, the adherents of this idiotic and racist ideology want to keep those immigrants in their box, to maintain the "purity" of the culture. Even when the people don't want it. Even when they want to live a pluralistic life, where they are both an Indian and a Canadian. Nigerian and a Brit. Somali and Dutch. Jewish and American.
No, it's not "cultural genocide" for cultures to change and adapt. Every culture that has survived, has survived because it does so has throughout time, and continues to do so, despite the protestations of activists.
==
So, if by "cultural genocide" you mean that people will actually die, then I call you a histrionic liar.
If by "cultural genocide" you mean that humans put old ideas out to pasture and discard them, like they've discarded Ford sedans, then I say, sweet. An excellent synonym is "idea expiration." We've discarded lots of bad ideas.
So, I say bring it on.
==
I don't blame you if you didn't know but I wanted to tell you so that, well, you would know. What you choose to do with that information is up to you but seriously consider whether who you WANT to hurt is worth hurting thousands of people you might not even have been thinking of.
I will continue to do exactly as I always have been. And not merely because nothing you've said actually holds up when examined.
I advocate for rationality, reason, evidence and logic over superstition, purported divine revelation (as told only by humans) and magical thinking, just as I advocate for science, evidence and reason over pseudoscience, woo, anti-science, anti-vax, denial of reality and ignorant bullshit.
But i'm not the racist bigot you are, applying this inconsistently and selectively, and reserving criticism only for preferred political targets.
I support the ongoing erosion of Xianity and Islam and Judaism and every other superstitious belief. All of them.
For the exact reason of humanity. Because humans cannot reliably navigate this world without an accurate and objective understanding of it.
We know through long painful history, that ignorance or denial of objective reality has actual genocidal consequences. The Russian Famine brought on by Lysenkoism, the Black Plague, the devastation in China during the Cultural Revolution, and even the unnecessary deaths due to COVID are all testament to our need to discard superstition and ignorant beliefs so that we can accurately deal with a world that doesn't give a shit what we believe or prefer.
Your insistence that we must not disrupt this reality-denial out of some misplaced sensitivity is something I unequivocally reject and oppose. Your priorities are fucked up, sweetie.
Flat Earth is no more true than Islam, and I reject both on the same grounds. Will it bother you if Flat Earth culture disappears?
Or do you only care about culture associated with brown people? What about the preservation of Cosby fan culture, or R. Kelly fan culture?
Anyway, thanks for reading all this and please consider focusing on more constructive efforts, like advocating against cults and proseletyzing.
Oh, don't worry, I am. I'm advocating against the cult you've joined. Because your belief system itself functions the same way as a cult. I am, after all, a heretic, a blasphemer. People who disagree with you and do not comply are burned as witches (online mob).
The entire point of you messaging me was to proselytize your born again faith to me and tell me to accept your beliefs and seek salvation. Beliefs that are as unfalsifiable as any god. Beliefs that are performative and allow you to be as hateful as you like as "divine" virtue. Beliefs that are held with faith, not reason or evidence. Beliefs that are based on insular circular scripture that refers to nothing but itself. Beliefs that created the vulnerability that they purport to solve.
You are a religionist. You have every hallmark.
==
One striking thing that stands out about this is the sheer paternalism and audacity to speak on behalf of Jewish, Muslim and a long string of other religions, as if you represent all of them. You do not. You speak only for yourself. One person.
While also remaining silent on the decline of Xianity, other than to frame it as an accusation leveled at me.
And this is where the unrepentant sociopathy of this ideology comes into play.
Protect Judaism and Islam from "cultural genocide", but let Xianity slide into oblivion without protestation. Because reasons. Because hegemony power normative marginalized structural discursive intersectional genocide hegemony. Yes, I know the language. The empty, empty word salad, obscuring the empty, empty claims. The juvenile, parochial view of someone with the first world privilege to be able to waste their education studying vanity courses about luxury beliefs.
"Hate" is bad and wrong... except when it comes to hating the "right" people; particular people from particular groups or categories, because then it's a virtue. Because then we can pretend it's not really hate. Because they deserve it. Because they're the Bad™ people. Because we're on the "right side of history."
Because our bigotry to them isn't the same as their bigotry to us, because they're different. Because our bigotry is justified. They're not capable of the same range of emotions or understanding. Being vilified doesn't impact them the same way it impacts us.
https://cheshireinthemiddle.tumblr.com/post/190100729802
'Except for the fact that boys don't experience "some form of sexual abuse" ever, and all apparent "cases" of male sexual abuse are always from people who lack any understanding of the definition of such terms.
Sexual abuse involves mental trauma, males do not experience mental trauma as they are incapable of doing so, similar to how males cannot experience emotions such as remorse and generosity and therefore the term sexual abuse does not apply to men, there should be another term that does apply to men but I have been unable to locate such a term.'
https://torontosun.com/2017/02/11/black-lives-matter-co-founder-appears-to-label-white-people-defects
“Whiteness is not humxness,” the statement begins. “infact, white skin is sub-humxn.” The post goes on to present a genetics-based argument centred on melanin and enzyme.
“White ppl are recessive genetic defects. this is factual,” the post reads towards the end. “white ppl need white supremacy as a mechanism to protect their survival as a people because all they can do is produce themselves. black ppl simply through their dominant genes can literally wipe out the white race if we had the power to.”
What you're actually looking for is special treatment. You're okay with Xianity being attacked and would likely be thrilled for it to collapse and fade away entirely, as the statistics currently suggest it will, long term. The "cultural genocide" of Xianity is acceptable, even to be applauded. Because Xianity isn't like all the others. The others are cornerstones of fetishized groups, while Xianity is a (supposed) cornerstone of a disfavored group: western society.
Cheering the removal of the cornerstones of hated groups is a virtue. Consistently advocating for the removal of superstitious, primitive and false cornerstones of all groups - and doing so consistently, as I do - is like literal genocide or someshit.
And I don't think you'd even disagree with this, which is worrying. Because it's this exact mentality that proposed Proposition 16 in California, to re-legalize discrimination based on race, gender, etc, as a virtuous endeavor. Treating people differently to construct preferred outcomes based on identity groups, and denying qualified, merit-based promotions and admissions.
But this ideology is so invested in this fetish, this hypocrisy, this double-standard, this discrimination, this bigotry that you've adopted as core to your identity, that you're willing to discard real human people into the abyss of toxic, destructive, and false religious beliefs. As "culture" that must be protected from the intrusion of reality.
This ideology is one of the most dehumanizing, hateful I've ever encountered.
==
The problem here isn't me. The problem here is that you put ideas, myths and beliefs above people. Oh, you talk a big game about "groups", but what you're referring to is the categories, not the individuals.
And this is the great tragedy and destructiveness of the woke theology It both denies the universal (e.g. common humanity, one single race), and the individual, and instead fixates entirely on categories and identity groups based solely on stereotypes and cliches, about what it means to be that type of person. This isn't a bug, it's a feature.
As usual, this broken, deranged ideology goes in exactly the wrong, anti-human direction, especially when it uses its authoritarian nature to lecture to others how they should feel and what is an "authentic" way to feel or be a particular category of person. It divides humanity up into categories and insists on preserving and upholding the boundaries between those categories as a virtue.
Here's the difference between you and me. I believe that people can change their beliefs, that they can discard old, bad ideas, and adopt new, better ideas. That they can evolve their cultures and societies to the benefit of their own and everyone else's humanity. It's how we got where we are today.
You just want to protect ideas rather than people, and make sure everyone acts out the roles you've assign them in your head.
Sweetie, the problem is you've become an authoritarian bigot who has subscribed to a hate-cult. You lost your shit when I simply said no, before I even explained why - you weren't interested in that.
Your beliefs are toxic shit. Your values are completely messed up. It's time to stop using your adopted identity categories as an excuse for your shitty ideas and untreated personality disorders. You can be better than this.
Genocide your bigoted, hateful, sociopathic cult-like beliefs, sweetie.
any spare levi headcanons tonight????? 😁😁😁😁
Sure, why not, he is the love of my life after all. These are pretty random, and fit in some sort of generalized modern boyfriend au. Hopelessly domestic, as that is the nature of nearly everything I write for Levi, anyway. Also still terribly obsessed with the idea of him with a motorcycle, so there’s that.
He owns at least six black blazers. They’re nearly identical; slight differences in texture and cut, one with lapels, one that’s boldly all leather that you swear you’ve never seen him wear. They’re kind of his go-to staple, other than a sweater.
That being said, he doesn’t exclusively wear all black. His closet leans towards more neutrals, sure, but he’s not allergic to color. You might not catch him wearing neon orange on the average day, but he’s not averse to a nice shade of green, any shade of purple that suits his mood, even a softer pink.
He has towels and rags he sets aside especially for you when he comes over. He always washes them and put them back in place when you leave so that they’re ready to go for next time.
Claims to not have any attachment to the shows/dramas you watch, but he’s totally backseat watching. Halfway into every single series, he starts sitting down when you turn it on, and scoffs at dumb decisions the characters make.
He splurged on one of those frame TVs that look like a painting when they’re idle. It was a good investment in his opinion.
He doesn’t hate Starbucks drinks—there’s worse things out there in terms of quality of tea. What he despises about the establishment is the way they call out names for you to pick up your order. He’s learned that mobile order ahead is the way to go.
Has slippers for around the house, so consequently, you have slippers for walking around his house. He keeps both pairs (and a few extra for friends and guests) tucked neatly beside the door for easy access; yours always go next to his.
Does not understand the purpose of a robe. Buy him one tho and he will suddenly find an excuse to wear it: making breakfast, lounging around watching TV, doing some light cleaning and dusting. It’s comfy, alright, he can admit that much.
The little puppy you got him that he swore he was not going to warm up to now gets the royal treatment. The best doggie goods and treats, top rated shampoos, cutest drying towels, even a miniature couch he constructed just for the pup. They’re best friends, there’s no breaking that bond now.
Speaking of the puppy, affectionately named Captain, Levi can be found walking him every day shortly after work. They have a few different routes, but they always pass by the local vendors/market, who enthusiastically anticipate their appearance every day. Some of the older ladies running stands have even taken to bringing a few treats with them for Captain—after bundling up some goods for Levi, too, of course.
Captain also has a special doggy backpack Levi uses for when he’s on his motorcycle. If you follow anybody on TikTok in his area, you’re bound to see at least one video of the pup while Levi’s out riding. He’s become viral on social media without even knowing it.
(When you show him a video someone posted of him and Captain with well over 100k likes, and a million views, he only rolled his eyes. But remembers that particularly day; remembers the folks had a kid who politely asked to pet the dog, so he let him. He also maybe asks you to send the link to him).
On the subject of the motorcycle, there was a good few weeks he wouldn’t let you on it. Always found an excuse, a smart reply that was punctuated with gentle push on your forehead and calling you too clumsy for it. Later, you found out it’s because he’d ordered you a helmet; didn’t want to risk you riding without one.
He always keeps it in the storage compartment should he make a stop to pick you up while he’s riding; and he usually wears at least two layers to have a spare to wrap you in before you get on.
When he cooks, he always makes sure there’s enough for leftovers and/or to give you some later. He also bakes frequently, and at least once a week, he stops by with some kind of treat for you—“Trying out a new recipe, let me know if you think it’s missing anything.”
On the subject of food, he won’t police what you eat to annoying extent; he knows that not everybody has the time or will to make pasta from scratch like he does. But, he will smack your wrist if you consider ordering fast food when you’re over at this place. Give him 30 minutes and a single pan, he’ll make something much better than whatever you can find on Uber Eats.
Really, though, he doesn’t mean to obnoxious about the homemade food thing, it’s more habit for him. Growing up, he had to learn to be resourceful, so buying fast-food isn’t ever at the forefront of his mind. Cooking for you also turns out to be something somewhat intimate that he enjoys, so just let him.
Once bought an Apple Watch because he liked the look of them, it wasn’t insanely expensive like other high end watches, and it could connect to his other devices, so why not? A week later he returned it, the ping of his notifications were in one too many places for his liking.
You tried to convince him to keep it—“At least for when you’re jogging! It can track your activity and calories!”—but he clicks his teeth. He’ll survive without keeping track of them.
He learned the hard way that jogging with Captain is no good. His legs are too tiny and Levi ended up carrying the puppy the entire time. Captain is more of a walk dog… or ride on the back of his bike dog.
If you changed anything in his phone settings—like the ringtone for you contact, or the sound his keyboard makes—he wouldn’t go back in and try to figure out how to reset it. Unless it was something obnoxious, like adding an autocorrect shortcut to say something lewd.
He doesn’t really listen to music when he’s just walking. When he’s on a run, that’s fine, but he somewhat prefers to just… hear the environment around him when he’s on a stroll or a break from work. The only reason he’d have headphones on in public is to take a phone call, but even then, he’d prefer to wait until he’s somewhere more private.
He likes having you over at his apartment and has contemplated asking you to move in. He doesn’t want to rush anything, though, so he’s content with your sleepovers for now. (Though he really cannot fathom that you call them “sleepovers” like you’re 14. Please).
He speaks to his mother at least once a week, and she always asks about you. Levi tells her that you’re fine, gives her small updates about you, but Kuchel really just wants to know when the wedding is. He pretends to be busy whenever she starts asking and conveniently ends the call.
Occasionally, he’ll stop by and take you out for lunch. Depends on how much time he has during the day for himself, but he always enjoys sharing a meal with you.
Whenever you’re out with your friends drinking, Levi will pick you up. Even if you already told him that you’d Uber home; as soon as you text him that you’re going to leave soon, he’s already on his way.
He makes pretty good cocktails himself. Teases you for running his alcohol supply dry when the truth is he has more of your favorites in his cabinet than his own. He secretly likes the way you flirt with him when you’re tipsy.
You don’t always cuddle on top of each other when you sleep together. You can just lay by each other and that’s enough; but sometimes, you catch Levi turning towards you in his sleep, reaching for your hand. His body seems to search for yours subconsciously, and you swear there’s a hint of a smile on his sleeping face when you put your hand within reach.
Do not try to pay for dinner when you’re out with him. He’ll pull the “I’m going to use the restroom” move and pay the bill behind your back if he needs to. Open your own doors, maybe; pull out your own chairs, sure if you want; but not this.
He flosses very diligently every night. Mostly because he fucking hates the dentist, so if he takes the extra steps and is extra careful with his teeth, he doesn’t have to go as often, right?—Wrong, it’s the one time the roles are reversed, and you and Hange have to wrestle him into the doctor’s office.
On the flip side, if there are any doctors you routinely avoid and/or forget to schedule check ups for, fear not, because Levi will do it for you. He’ll drive you there, too—the only caveat being, that he usually doesn’t tell you where you’re going until you’re almost there. You think he’s doing the mysterious man surprise date thing and then boom, he’s pulling up to the ophthalmologist. Good luck.
He’s purchased a physical, paper copy of the news on every one of your anniversaries, birthdays, and other special occasions. He keeps them all neatly tucked away in a drawer. Sometimes, he looks back on them—sees what was happening in the world around you on that day. Maybe someday he’ll cut them up and bind them together in a book for you.
He doesn’t like having headphones in when you’re home with him, and preferred if you didn’t either—unless it was for work or school. He welcomes you to use his speakers and play your music aloud; he likes listening to what you listen to. If you look closely, you can catch him humming along or tapping his foot when he really likes a song.
Saves pictures you send him in an album in his camera roll. Occasionally can be found scrolling through them—particularly if you’ve been away on a trip, or he hasn’t gotten the chance to see you because of conflicting schedules.
He takes relatively short showers and doesn’t have a strong preference for the water temperature, so he lets you shower first. Unless you want him to join you, of course.
It’s not hard to tell when Levi wants you. He becomes noticeably more touchy, even if that margin isn’t too wide by anyone else’s standards; and he rarely tries to hide it. It only happens in the privacy of your apartments; but he’ll come on to you—leaning a bit further into conversations, a hand on your knee, a kind of cloudy look in his eyes.
Sometimes he forgoes the attempts at being subtle, just kisses you out the blue, carefully backs you up against the wall, puts his hands on your hips. He can be awfully direct when given the opportunity.
