little did everyone know, price and his girlfriend would finally be announcing their engagement that weekend <3

some accompanying headcanons

the group chat started when price left for a 6 month deployment.

he knew his gf was used to this routine but wanted to provide her with a support system in his absence.

so he mentioned the idea to the other 141 boys and boom your military wives gc was formed.

price's gf acts as the mother, helping out the other military gf's, planning dinners, and providing them with updates she gets from price.

gaz's gf is the youngest in the group. also being the last one to join and thus she's still learning the military customs and antics of the boys.

ghost's gf is the second oldest and is practically unreachable when she's in the office but she'll never turn down the offer for some wine.

speaking of alcohol, soap's girlfriend is the wildest out of the bunch. she always shows up with a drink in hand and the offer to go to the pub.

they all have a bi-weekly girls night when the boys are deployed, making sure each of them is doing okay and enjoying a stress-free night.

each gf takes a turn planning the event, it usually centers around their occupation (price - floral design class with wine, soap - tattoo festival, gaz - watching old disney movies in their pjs, ghost - visiting a cat cafe).

eventually soap infiltrated the group, taking his girlfriends phone and adding the 141 boys to see why they're always texting.

he removed them once his girl threatened to get a cover-up of the soap tattoo.

Steven Universe: The Movie VHS

Here's a render of my box art draft! It's coming along pretty well, and I put some pretty neat Easter eggs in this one.

Unlike my Over the Garden Wall tape, I'm deciding to go for a partial wrap around design. The front, top, and side are all part of the same image, with the back being reserved for a scenic shot of Beach City.

I got in trouble (permanently banned, actually) for using the FBI warning logo in my art when trying to print OtGW at a print shop, so this time I'm replacing it with the age rating.

If you look closely, the number on the side is the last 4 digits of the mysterious girl's phone number from season 4 episode 6 Last One Out of Beach City.

Additionally, the bar code is the bar code for a GameCube! I thought this was fitting since Steven owns a GC and he plays it constantly. It is also just a super nostalgic console for me, and I can't be the only one who related to Steven a little extra because of his console choice.

The most difficult part of creating this physically is definitely going to be finding a pink VHS tape. I haven't been able to find the specific shade of pink that I want, but I've come pretty close with some VHS releases of Sky Dancers “The Sky’s The Limit” “On Wings Of Song.”

Unfortunately this leans more hot-pink purpleish, and looking for the exact shade is a little hard because I've got Finn the Human syndrome (just a little colour blind). Worst case scenario, I find an off-coloured (lol) tape and I treat it a little bit with bleach or something.

And now to the pan and scan part of the project:

Editing this movie is hard. Really hard. This movie has a very stylized intro credits, most of which are formatted specifically for a 16:9 screen. I'm honestly considering reverse engineering the entire opening credits and just building it from the ground up for a 4:3 aspect ratio.

As for opening ads/title cards, I'm absolutely going to put an Over the Garden Wall trailer. I might just make an MCU type deal where all my tapes reference each other. That would be funny I think.

To set something straight, I've been making theories about this guy the second I heard his backstory (big spoilers ahead!)

At first, hearing about how Capsaicin Cookie was born from a lava lake, instantly gave me the idea that his birth was the result of an experiment gone wrong. And when "Legend Of The Red Dragon" came out within an update later, my gears only turned even more, later theorizing that Capsaicin Cookie was likely the result of the first attempt in making the puppet dragon

I would go on to soon drop due to not having enough information to properly cover it, but thanks to the beast yeast, like a phoenix, theories were born from the ashes anew! But not just theories my friends, a full blown prediction!

Now this was said a few times already, but I'll say here for good measure: Capsaicin Cookie is, in some way, connected to the beasts in some, more specifically, Burning Spice Cookie

I mean, c'mon! The evidence is right in front us!

They have similar character designs

They have similar color schemes

Both have something to do with spice

They're in the same frickin pose

And the fact that Capsaicin used to rely so much on him "holding back," and Burning Spice being notorious for destruction is just too perfect

Ok with all the information out of the way, I've narrowed it down to three regarding Capsaicin's creatio. It's either:

A. Capsaicin was the original "empty" vessel for Burning Spice, but something happened, causing in his birth

B. Burning Spice could be a great ancestor of Capsaicin, which would explain why his was locked away in the first place, maybe whoever locked him up knew of the beasts and saw him as a threat

C. Burning Spice could be a part of Capsaicin in some way(TLDR: pulling a Steven Universe)

At the point l, you might be wondering, "Sure, these are possible theories, but what about the prediction?" Well friends, may I direct you to our second key player, Golden Cheese Cookie. Now, knowing that everyone in her kingdom is basically in a coma, and seeing her friends forming armies for the war, it's pretty logical that she'll have to find other cookies to volunteer to fight in the war, but has every reason not to. Mostly due to what last time, the main reason is that she gets attached way too fast, way too easily. Fortunately, other ancients are very understanding of this, but do try to convince GC into doing the right thing, and eventually through one way or another, she ends recruiting Capsaicin for the war

Their relationship is very slow burn, with GC showing Capsaicin nothing but tough love as to not get attached to him(think Toph from ATLA) but ends not working for her, and slowly and surely, the two get close, like mother and son. . . At some point in the story, it isn't long for a certain someone to find out about their relationship

Now tell me, what sounds more metal. . ?

Learning about your past, and being forced to kill your mother figure due to her "stealing what's ours!"

Or Getting closure after loosing so much, just be forced to harm your adopted son after finding out his origins

August 20, 2023 Update from the Battleship Texas Foundation

SHIP REPAIRS

TORPEDO BLISTERS - The new torpedo blisters are a slightly different design and square off at the bottom below the waterline. This design change will make the new blisters easier to maintain increasing their longevity.

COATING - The inside of the blisters, and the ship’s hull will be coated to protect against possible corrosion.

HULL - As work continues moving aft, any holes in the ship’s original hull are being repaired. New plates are added to thinner areas and smaller holes are welded up. The ship’s hull is being primed temporarily as the repairs are made.

LEAK TESTING - All welds continue to be tested for leaks. They are done via vacuum box, dye penetrant or magnaflux depending on the area.

DECK REPAIRS - GC’s yard workers have concluded repairing the deck on the ship’s Signal Bridge and have begun working on the deck above, the Navigation Bridge. A part of the deck repairs includes sand blasting the underside of the underside and throwing on a coat of primer.

AFT FIRE CONTROL TOWER - Work continues in the AFCT as the old grating that was installed in 1988 has been completely removed and replaced with a steel deck. Small repairs to the bulkhead are currently ongoing as the plan is to have it look as it did in 1945.

dildo poetry from the 1600s and 1700s including a poem from 1735 called “the sappho-an” which is a kind of creation myth for the strap-on (fun fact: they had dildos which could simulate ejaculation back in the 1600s! they put milk in them)

research on 1500s and 1600s sex work in london

archival research about people arrested for wearing the “wrong” gender’s clothing in 1500s/1600s london (yay paleography!)

one case about both of the above, a sex worker named jane trosse who was also once caught out in menswear, and the court record for one of her cases includes the admission from a married couple that she was sleeping with both of them together (hooray historical threesomes!)

read like 25 plays from that period that include characters who transition between genders and that’s only like 1/3 of the plays i want to look at

have made multiple new lesbian friends (most important kind)

one of them saw my dnd stickers and asked if i play and now we have a gc called “phdnd” so we can get a game going

What/who inspired you to make this? ⯌ The original book itself, Overly Sarcastic Productions' video covering aforementioned book introduced my fondness for the franchise and whatnot. inspiring me to read the book and continue imagining little things tweaked around until it was its own thing. and of course The Glass Scientists inspired some things here and there with the characters along with me just generally adoring the series and taking mental notes of things here and there. like picking up tiny rocks from a large pond, its wonderful. I highly encourage you check out all three of these!

When does this comic update? ⯌ Every Tuesday and Thursday. it may vary accidentally due to IRL complications (mainly school) but I will try to stick to schedule

What do you use to make the comic? ⯌ I use IBISpaintX for all my drawing, though I script the comic in discord...yes discord not Google docs. its more convenient and just sort of at home for me to use an empty discord GC with just myself inside- I don't know.

Dear diary

Hii lovelies, it's been awhile since of done one of these imma try to do it more often like before. But anyways let me update u guys so life has been very busy but amazing I've made so many new friends, I'm trying out for cheer soon, I've gotten a lot closer to God and spending more time with him, I've joined a Christian gc and club at my school (it's amazing I love it so much Ive made so many Christian friends and we have really deep talks about the bible and God, and even cute little bible study dates 🎀), I'm going to figure skate again soon imma go back to singles and ice dancing! Ooo and I got all A's last semester! Columbia/yale here I come!! Hmm what else my birthday is on Monday so I went shopping and I got some really cute clothes I'll post soon for u loves 💗 ooo I forgot Im starting graphic design and early college classes soon!

I'm really proud of myself this year tho I've matured a lot, I dress better, take better care of myself , and I let go of all the toxic people in my life and filled my life with amazing,loving and supportive people that I love so much 💗🎀

I've been thinking about my future alot recently and right now I'm so confused on what I wanna do in life like I have so many options rn like I wanna be a labor and delivery nurse, a psychiatrist, a florist, a fashion designer, or a photographer but I can't choose it's a lot more difficult than I thought, all ik for sure about my future is I'm gonna keep getting closer to God and learn more from him and become my best self 💗🎀

So have this old au from five years ago and the premise was that it was set in  fantasy world where everything Nylocke says is canon.

Examples: The Netkings are deities, Nylocke is actually a really old, immortal dragon who met GC a long time ago (ties into Dragonbug lore), Kirbopher is a squire and he “serves” is Netking Zetto.

The “hackers” have dark magic granted to them by D-Buggers (Run by Zetto n Kizuna) for the purpose of getting rid of the virus n stuff.

Update ‼️

After the vent of yesterday my mother came to see me to apologize and I said that I accepted her apology (I wrote 'I said' and not that I had really accepted her excuse. So in short I didn't accepted her apologies because frankly it gets boring every time I say 'I accept your apologies' WHILE I DON'T) and then she went back to see my father and I stayed in the room in the dark like a microbe.

And I have to speak frankly about something that I'm afraid of, this afternoon from 3 to 4 p.m. I have art class but the problem is the teacher. Every time I draw in my draft or on a sheet like you could see that I use to make the designs for my AUs (in her classes we draw on consonant paper) and when she sees me drawing she is always like 'Gwen you should really let me frame your drawings to hang them in the corridors' and then 'Gwen you should... Gwen that...' and that makes me very uncomfortable, the worst is that when I talked to my parents about it, they agreed with her...

Honestly the only place I call 'home' is the gc on discord, the servers I'm on, tiktok, tumblr and youtube (and there are others too)

❗Spoiler warning: this post will touch on some lore and plot points in the Star Wars universe, as well as up until the August update of Gladiator Chronicles (Season 2, Episode 4)

That Star Wars was an influence in creating Gladiator Chronicles is no secret. Dmitry himself revealed in one of his interviews that the very first episode of GC was a homage to Star Wars, as well as admitting that one of his all-time favourite characters is Kreia/Darth Traya from Knights of the Old Republic II game!

Star Wars is one of the most famous and beloved franchises in the world. Created by George Lucas, the movies tell us the story of the Skywalker family, beginning with the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker and his fall to the dark side – the prequel trilogy (1999 – The Phantom Menace, 2002 – Attack of the Clones, and 2005 – Revenge of the Sith), followed by his twin children Luke and Leia and their fight against the Empire – the original trilogy (1977 – A New Hope, 1980 – The Empire Strikes Back, 1983 – Return of the Jedi), and lastly the sequel trilogy that tells the story of Rey (2015 – The Force Awakens, 2017 – The Last Jedi, 2019 – The Rise of Skywalker). The franchise itself also has many books, comics, TV series, games and spin-off movies.

But what exactly does GC have in common with Star Wars? Let’s take a look:

Tatooine and Paitrum are very similar. Both are desert planets, whose major import is water, its cities are frequently hit by violent sandstorm and hold little to no importance on a larger scale in their universes. In Star Wars, Tatooine is the homeworld of Anakin and Luke Skywalker, just like Paitrum is the homeworld of our main character Rix. Moreover, it’s the architecture that both planets share in common.

While in New Rome togas are still in fashion, Paitrum´s fashion is very much inspired by the robes Jedi wear and clothes one could find the most famous smuggler in the world wearing.

Moving on from Paitrum, let’s take a look at the Empire. In Star Wars, the Empire was led by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, also known as Emperor Palpatine. The Sith are an ancient religious order of force-wielders devoted to the Dark side of the Force. For those who don’t know, the Force is an energy field created by all life that connected everything in the Universe and individuals who are able of consciously sensing the Force are called force-wielders. With this conscious sense of the Force comes the ability to use it. The two greatest groups of force-wielders were the Jedi – who channel the Light side of the Force – and the Sith – who channel the Dark side. Since the times of Darth Bane, who established the Rule of Two, there always were only two Sith – master and apprentice – but that doesn’t mean that there were no other dark side force users working for the Empire. The Order of Inquisitors were a group of dark side agents whose purpose was to hunt down remaining Jedi, political dissidents and retrieving any force-sensitive children. Sounds familiar?

Once Rix is able to contact Tori, she tells him that the Clerics took children and returned them with implants at the back of their heads a few days later. This reminded us of Lobot and Tseebo, who had the cybernetic device AJ˄6 cyborg construct at the back of their heads. What’s more, while it was designed to increase the user's productivity, it would often erase the user’s personality and occasionally cause their behavior to become erratic.

When we met Afiy on the slave market, he mentioned Scarium mines, which of course doesn’t have to be outright a reference, it did remind us of the Spice Mines on the Planet Kessel, where the miners consisted of slaves and whose life-expectancy was only a few years.

(Note: Spice itself in SW is inspired by the Spice from Dune. George Lucas was influenced by Frank Herbert’s work. About Dune we also talk in another post)

i do actually plan on making a Long post or doc abt the actual cultural references in golden cheese kingdom because im autistic . and also iraqi but that’s irrelevant [ j ] . but main gist is that gc seems to be inspired modern day cairo , the second cookie in red is Horace who is siblings with Anubis [ possible siblings ? ] , the cookie with blue eyeshadow is important to golden in some way . idk what else to add . also outfits and all that r pretty accurate to actual hieroglyphs [ besides the cookie inspired by horsce but their design seems to lean towards more artistic choice than orientalism so imma let it slide . For once ! ]

now Granted im Kind Of Worried abt the other leaks from crknews with the anubis-like cookie design since this might turn into Devsis Orientalism Part Three and this is kind of a shitty way to potray egyptian culture but . I want you to understand my excitement is more in the "finally content to work with" and less "god this update is going to be so good" if that makes sense. i WILL rewrite this shit from the ground up im mostly just finally happy to have some basic amount of salvagable worldbuilding to fucking work with. im very cautious knowing devsis' track record with SWANA people. im throwing the whole fucking thing out if they make gc a villian though like holy shit ESPECIALLY if it's based on greed like oh my god. uncooperative and bitchy and shortsighted yes but a malicious villian know. i also need to snatch her light of [whatever]'s url if it isn't the one i already have. anyways. bye! December 10, 2023 Update from the Battleship Texas Foundation

SANDBLASTING - The ship’s hull is now being sandblasted at night and inspected for holes and damage during the day. The necessary repairs are made before the final coating is applied.

HULL NUMBER - The new hull numbers have been extensively researched so each number is not only the correct font, but applied in the appropriate position it was in 1945. Welders have created an outline where that will be painted on in the future.

SHIP’S NAME APPLIED - The lettering for the ship’s name has been cut from steel plate and has been attached to both sides of the stern. A ton of work and research went into getting the correct font and positioning.

COATING - The inside of the blisters, and the ship’s hull will be coated to protect against possible corrosion.

TANK CLEANING - Tanks inside the ship are being inspected, cleaned, and repaired if need be. Some will be coated with a marine coating to help prevent future corrosion.

AFT FIRE CONTROL - New steel deck has been added to the levels of the tower. The doors on both sides have also been added back. The space is being prepped for the windows and more to return the structure to how it looked in 1945.

So, at our house, there are two very different stances on Dickens' A Christmas Carol.  To me, the book is a near-religious text and an annual reminder that one can make good on a life ill-lived, that every year is a chance for change and a reminder of how we can improve the lot of those around us.  We are a product of our lives, but at the end of the day, it's the choices we make daily that define how we impact the world.  To Jamie, it's this thing that's on at Christmas that people keep remaking as movies of varying quality.  I think both of these viewpoints are true.  

I'll need to give it another viewing, but it's possible Spirited (2022) will enter the very nichey canon of my favorite adaptations of the story, which include the George C. Scott version, the Patrick Stewart version, Muppets Christmas Carol and Scrooged.  Given the way this year's Thanksgiving has gone down, I may just be raw and in need of a boost that this movie provided, but here we are.

While I'm more than done with movies investigating the mechanics behind Santa's operations (Fred Clause and Arthur Christmas are maybe my highlight of that genre), no one had really taken on the same idea with A Christmas Carol.  And if I'm being honest with myself, I don't know if I'd put any thought into it other than it's a ghost story and this is how they work.

The movie follows The Ghost of Christmas Present (Ferrell) as he has another successful Christmas haunting someone into goodness, could retire now but won't, and wants to take on a case marked "Irredeemable" in the file - as in, no amount of haunting will help this guy.  We're treated to a view of the operations for the ghosts, which includes plenty of research, design and development.     

But, look, you're either in for Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell turned up to 11 or you're not going to like it.  It's a smart enough movie to know Scrooged owns the modern update and namechecks the movie as events unfold, but it also knows there's more to explore about how (a) being better doesn't happen as a single lightning flash, and (b) it doesn't mean you don't live with your worst choices.  

That said, it's a comedy.  And a funny one, even if it takes the familiar path to a pretty dark place for our Perp.  The leads are joined by Tracey Morgan voicing the Ghost of Christmas Future and Sunita Mani  (who I think is great) as GC Past. The comedy is a weird mix of awkward Will Ferrellisms and Ryan Reynolds' patented rapidfire delivery, but as character stuff, it works.

And, look, this movie is also a musical, and a lavish one at that.  The songs are maybe less memorable than they could be (minus Good Afternoon, which I would have lost my mind over in 8th grade.  Or at age 47).  But, man... the dancing going on in the movie is insane.  

Again - I need to watch this again, but I think I liked it a lot.  There's some stuff that really gets at the core of the Dickens material, so you know it's been properly vetted and understood in a way not every Scrooge movie goes for.
