Unalive -- A Love Letter
I came across the word unalive first in a tumblr post. Reading it several times over, I got that it showed distaste for the term but was yet unaware of its censorship-roots and tik-tok popularity. For a split moment before my mind caught up and started thinking, my non-native-English-speaker brain went “new word; un + alive; looks like [unsee—unsex]; associated with [impossible—reality-shifting]” and I fell in love a little. No, no, I fell hard in love, lots in love, okay, with unalive. Sorry. I know it’s a bad word.
But unsee, unsex — the one who wishes to unsee is the one that has seen, when Lady Macbeth asks to be unsexed it is to higher god-like powers, unalive suggests; the hand that kills had a hand in a-living you in the first place. The Cambridge Dictionary defines unsee as “to return to a situation in which you have not seen something” to unalive would be “to return someone to a situation in which they have not been alive” ;;; this is TERRIFYING actually. It is worse than being merely killed.
What the hell is unalive. What the hell happened. It’s so grammatically weird, I’m not sure it’s a verb or a noun. An action upon someone or a state of being.
Oh, Oscar, he’s —
unalive? analive?
it’s not that he’s dead but
he’s the opposite of what he was.
unalived?
see, something grabbed through Oscar and turned the organs inside out/or his soul, inside-out
he’s been — hallowed — unalived — was it “hollowed”? — claimed back — taken a-way and a-part —un-a-live-d — his living license got revoked — we got a call from God — It said “we’re gonna have to have to have to; unalive Oscar” — emptied out — unalived.
We’ll forget he ever was here soon.

these kinds of arguments have never really resonated with me. I have no particularly strong feelings about hypothetical street art that’s in any way related to interesting self expression but in any city in which I’ve ever lived or visited, on three continents, 90% of graffiti is just gang tags and/or creepy sexual/misogynist shit. if the issue was roving squadrons of amateur muralists practicing their shading techniques most people would have much less negative reactions to it.

Just wanna ask for your opinion, no offense intended. Do you think that Gojo dying RIGHT AFTER he got sealed for 3 years irl is bad writing??
I mean yeah i get it that Gojo needs to make some space in order for Yuuji's character to grow.. but i keep thinking that these MCDs that Gege pulled is just him being a lazy writer. So much potential in a character and Gege chose to make them drop dead. I agreed with you when you said chara exploration is not Gege's thing.
Anyways i think this is just me potentially being biased towards Gojo's death. I hope you'd answer this lmaoo. Thank you and have a nice day <3
ummmmm I think people are being a little biased (nothing wrong with that) towards gojo since he's such a well liked popular character like this isn't the first death akutami has badly fumbled and it probably won't be the last. I've been talking about how akutami has been dropping the ball since the shibuya arc. I hope people see gojo's death as a bad thing not because they think it's horrible gojo died and are equating that to bad writing but because its been a downwards trend in akutami's writing. like I see a lot of ppl decrying the chapter as bad writing not because of the circumstances of gojo's death but because gojo died. like we knew it was coming did akutami not say it was either gojo or the kids? I talk a lot about the distinctions between what makes a death meaningless and what makes a death bad in story telling. you can have meaningless meaningful deaths if that makes sense....or make bad deaths meaningful....but akutami's really never been good at that. the way akutami writes death cheapens it and considering a lot of the themes revolving around the manga involve death and the meaning in which you choose to live your life....I think it could be portrayed better....

okay I think my Viren multishipping agenda has been fulfilled. For now. Though I haven’t drawn any Viren/Harrow/Sarai yet so maybe I’ll do that one next!
I love Viren centric shipping ‘cause all of his relationships end miserably lmao. Or he’s manipulated, girlbossed and gaslighted. Viren just has that Dark Void Bisexual energy; rejected and used by both men and women:)

i have been mass sbing/unfollowing anyone who puts anything even remotely discoursey or arguments or anything similar on my dash, i used to give long time mutuals a slide for this type of thing but its been really bothering me to see it lately
it's nothing personal, i believe most of the people on here have good intentions, i just cannot be around it at this point in my life. i just only come on here to see art and check up on how the friends in my phone are doing!

I kind of wish that Americans uneducated on the current situation weren’t posting about it because it’s just spreading misinformation, confusion, and unnecessary rhetoric. However, I’m also giving grace to those just liking and posting things because they’re taking the little info they’re getting and acting on it thinking it’s right. We are in such a social media virtue signaling era and I know this conversation will inevitably die out in a month if we aren’t approaching it genuinely.

Yknow I started reading Merthur fics again before rewatching. And there's this thing in fics that are so romance-centric that every character has to go out of their way to tell each side of the ship that the both of them are made to be together and that they should confess etc etc, and it's somewhat heavy handed in the Merlin fandom but I didn't pay it too much mind.
But it's canon. Canon is like that. Merlin 2008 season 1 is a fanfic-like mix of Merlin and Arthur saving each other's life and secondary characters telling them how they are two faces of a same coin and that they will become great together and. And. Good Lord.
I am enraged with this show in so many ways but am also fond of it and enjoy it and my mom is reduced to listening to me pausing the episode to groan and moan and then go back to giggling at endearing moments and you know as an asexual I never really got hate sex, the whole "despise them but want them", and I think it's the closest I've ever been to understanding it. I don't even know if this counts as hate watching, but by God it is something.

people getting mad at this but like, it is true that there is a lot of published fiction out there that is bad and a lot of fanfiction out there that is good and therefore significantly better than those published books that are bad. so it’s not an incorrect statement and not something i would get mad at. but it is also so fucking pointless as an argument. like yeah for any two groups of things you can find extremes of good on one group and extremes of bad in another group and compare them but that really doesn’t tell you anything, and trying to act like it does is not making a good argument at all. zero points all around everyone go home

actually, thinking about it, emma is someone who routinely uses other people’s images, isn’t she? there’s that (deeply racist) body swap story with ororo, the time she possessed bobby, the everything with jean. it’s a little mystique of her.
she is! it is a little mystique of her, and also why i think her image should be used by someone else :) like jean!
