mun related (I'm gonna answer the headcanon one last because it's long-)

(1) have you had any bad experiences with roleplaying?; I have, yeah, I could go on and on about a whole bunch of stuff that happened when I first got back into it back in June '21 but for the sake of my own sanity I won't go deep into anything, but it was a very wild two months I'll just say that. But I came out of it with a couple of really great friends and a long-lost love for roleplaying and creating oc's and world building in a Discord server. Like the fictional town we have is just.. ah I love it. Also, when I came back to Tumblr I had someone from that wild two months who to sum it up is just not a good person decide to make call-out posts about me and my two best friends so that wasn't a good time at all. (2) how many pets do you own? if none, what kind of animals do you like?; I have two dogs, a golden retriever named Marley who if you've seen Marley & Me is basically that dog in real life. And a Siberian husky named Demon who ironically is not named after the dog from Snow Dogs but is very similar to him. Demon is named Demon because I was reading a list of husky names off to my parents and said "Damon" and they heard "Demon" and well, here we are 5 years later- But I do love dogs, I always have, even when I was a baby- and I love wolves also, and foxes and tigers, especially white tigers- and I do love cats too, I just have a preference for dogs but I would happily own both-

(3) share some headcanons that you have for a muse of your choosing; Oh man it's really hard to choose just one- or even just a few but I've got a few in mind-

Okay, one sorta headcanon I have about Dustin Henderson that I've been meaning to mention is that I love the idea of him having only sisters, whether older or younger- he's got two older ones in separate verses of mine, Valerie ofc but in one Elie ( @theolderh3nderson ) and in another Lydia ( @heldheart ) and as far as they're all concerned, they are canon for him. But more than that I think him having only sisters plus an absent father for whatever reason is what makes him gravitate towards Steve and Eddie because while he loves and adores his sisters there's just some things he needs a father/brother figure for.

And just cause they're on my mind now, some headcanons I have about the Original Hybrid Triplets; Erik, Klaus and Kareena Mikaelson (I've had them on Discord for a while so I am very attached to them)

The triplets are pretty close and while Klaus had the privilege of being able to dagger his other siblings, he couldn't dagger them, so they have spent quite a lot of time together.

Erik and Klaus aren't quite identical, they do have a few slight differences though it's not anything people notice unless they really know them or are paying close attention, so they often get mistaken for one another. While that's fine for Klaus since Erik is the total opposite of him and is and always has been considered the "good brother", it's not always a good time for Erik as his brother has made thousands of enemies over the centuries. And Kareena is often the one people seem to forget exists though she doesn't really mind. She's not quite as intense as Klaus but she's definitely not as good as Erik, she's somewhere right in the middle, leaning a little more Klaus' way, especially when it comes to protecting her family.

Kareena actually left her family behind in the 1960s and 70s when she unexpectedly fell in love with a werewolf girl but in 1975 she came back to their shared home to find the love of her life had been killed. She still isn't sure who did it or why- whether it was a hunter, a robbery turned murder, an enemy of her family's, or one of her family members, possibly even Mikael. She spent the next two years before returning to her family trying to find out who had killed her lover but all she left was a trail of blood instead.

Erik also fell in love a few times over the years though he's always ultimately chosen his family over them. There's only been one person he considered staying for but that was back in the 1920's and they'd made the decision for him when he returned to their apartment to say he was going to stay, and they were already gone. (Also in the Discord server with my darlin' @chaos-awakens , Erik also falls in love with Caroline however he takes a step back for his brother, but they eventually reunite years later and end up together and they're relationship is just the cutest fucking thing and he's the sweetest stepdad to Josie and Lizzie)

Imani & Nick

she always cooks for him! she doesn't necessarily go out of her way to do it, but she's always making healthy food and doing meal preps for the week for herself, so she'll often make extra for nick.

gym dates are essential for them!! but they always work out separately. It's their way of spending time together while also focusing on their own goals and personal space.

Imani loves to spend a lot of her nights around Nick. Unless Nick is out of town doing tennis tournaments, she'll always text him asking if he can come over or vice versa. It's always something casual like homemade dinner and watching movies together.

Imani is the more protective one in their relationship. Not only does she look out for his health, but if someone's trying to mess with Nick then she'll stand up for him because she doesn't let things slide.

Lance & Lucy

Whenever he's upset with her and she asks for something, he'll try to be petty and brush her off by saying "sounds like a boyfriend problem". Only for him to cave in and just end up doing what she asks of him.

A big part of why Lucy appeals to him is her mysterious aura. Although it's frustrating at times, he likes to overthink and spend time trying to figure her out. He compares it to a piece of literature he can't quite decipher or piece together.

He only refers to her as Lucielle because he thinks it's more intimate and he loves the name.

He definitely spends an embarrassing amount of time and money sending her flowers.

Kareena & Solo

I feel they met at some stuffy social event when they were children/pre-teens. Kareena was always a wallflower at these events and she liked that Solo approached her first and made her laugh.

She's so concerned for him all the time. Even though they have busy schedules and can't hang out as often as they'd like, she'll always make the time to check in on him.

Kareena has some photos of the two from growing up together and she likes to keep them framed around her room.

Trinity & Duygu

trinity isn't the greatest at expressing her feelings, so her love language is gifts! whenever duygu offhandedly mentions wanting or needing something, trinity will go out of her way to buy it for her. even if it's something small and mentioned casually in conversation.

although trinity is stoic and tough to the world, duygu is the one person who turns trinity into a complete softie. trinity feels completely safe and cared for in her presence.

whenever they're stressed or need a break from the world trinity will book them a little staycation at a nice resort - complete with a spa day and all.

Trinity desperately wants to plan a trip to Turkey, so she can see where Duygu grew up and learn more about the culture.

Audrie & Luca

Their romance is very slow burn instead of just falling right in. They're mature enough to know their separate lives should be carefully pieced together. It's also the fear of quickly emotionally investing into a relationship.

When Audrie has the rare opportunity to bake, she likes to make things specifically for Luca and his kiddo. This is mostly because she cares too much and wanting approval from a young child is so on brand :')

Theo & Sloane

One of his many nicknames for Sloane (and contact name) is Strawberry Shortcake after the cartoon character. He's like "yup that's her"

They like to get into each others hobbies - even if they're not as good at it as the other is. Theo will try to get Sloane into building lego figurines with him, and in turn she's tried to teach him out to bake but his desserts always come out looking completely *atrocious*

He likes to take her to the movies to watch cartoons and animated films. They like to point at silly characters and say "that's you"

Lance & Quinn

one of their deepest bonding moments came from opening up to each other about the death of their respective parents and living through their traumas from it. this is a moment that helped solidify a strong bond between them.

They're that couple who's always out doing something cute. Quinn probably sends him reels and tiktoks of cute places/date ideas in town and without hesitation, Lance will make it happen.

He's very protective over Quinn, but in the most affectionate way possible. Meaning he's not shy about claiming her in public, there's always lots of hand holding, kisses, his arm is always wrapped around her, things like that.

His social media is basically a fanpage of her, complete with poetic cheesy captions.

Dean & Isa

He's the definition of a simp when it comes to her. for example, she could casually mention she's hungry or that she's bored or anything and he's such an "I'm on my way" type of person.

He always wants to make a memorable impression, so he'll often think of fun and creative dates to take isa on - instead of something simple.

He has an unfinished song he'd written about her, but he likes to keep that hidden away for himself.

I use one generic Millie as Kara (since I don’t have her and don’t care about her pink streaks), I use a closed-mouth Millie as Amelia, I repainted a Ken (badly) to use as Trey, and I use the Babysitters Inc boy as Jonas. And I have a couple of Dreamtopia dolls, if you want to count those (the Chelsea and Otto set, and all 4 of the 17″ Endless Hair Kingdom dolls).

As for more general merch, I have all the movies on dvd, a couple of soundtracks cds, and some of the novelizations and picture books--most of which were given to me by the most blessed @lyssitalennon. (I also have other assorted Barbie books that are not from the movies. Sometimes I make headcanons from them and use them anyway, tho.) I also have the SLA and VGH comics (as well as a couple others).

ok raj and simon literally love having drinks with maia!! raj gets to relax a little, simon drinks free blood and maia gets a little extra help around the bar

simon asks raj for hair tips all the time!! and probably uses the same products cause he’s just so in love with every hair style raj pulls??

raj would def joke around with simon and try to make him laugh out loud. and sometimes simon can’t really control his fangs when he laughs and raj really loves to see them??

simon often asks about raj whenever he meets up with shadowhunters, just to see if he's well and safe. ("so is raj's neck okay?? he told me it still hurts whenever he's training... make sure he gets that checked out again.")

More SLA Thoughts

Okay, I know I’ve been super obsessed with Star Light Adventure lately, but I just can’t help it, it really is one of my favorite Barbie films, hell even one of my favorite sci-fi films! I probably won’t calm down on this one for a while, but I’ll put a lot of what I want to mention in this post. It’s a lot, but if you’re interested please check it out below the break.

- I like referring to the protagonist as “Starlight” rather than “Barbie”, because I just prefer Barbie characters to have unique names if she isn’t “playing” herself. 

- Leo is my precious hungry son and I love him. Forget what I said a long time ago about Lazlo, Leo is definitely my favorite Ken character.

- Starlight and Sal-Lee totally like each other and I will stand by that.

- Every outfit Starlight wears is serious cosplay goals for me. I want my first official cosplay to be either her Para-Den outfit or her mission uniform.

- The score is freaking amazing. It has all that glorious space brass that sci-fi movies are known for having and I really wish some of it was on the soundtrack. I mean, they had score tracks added in The Secret Door soundtrack, so why not this one? Starlight’s hum and the music when she saves the stars are some of the best parts of the film in my opinion.

- Speaking of the soundtrack, I really wish Lindsey Stirling’s “Firefly” was on the official soundtrack considering it’s one of the themes. Instead we get a random bonus track (“So Beautiful”). I mean, I like it and all, but “Firefly” should’ve been there too.

- I adore Sal-Lee’s natural hair with the cornrows on the side. It looks so cool and I wish it was the hairstyle her doll has. I know it probably would’ve been more difficult to replicate than the ponytail, but I think it suits her more.

- Sheena & Kareena’s translucent arms and legs are a really cool design choice, and I think their dolls look super cool with it.

- I like that this was a prophecy/chosen one story in which not everyone knows who the chosen one is. It’s nice to know that everyone rallies around Starlight not because she’s destined to save the galaxy, but because they genuinely like her and want her to stay on the team.

- I like to think Starlight’s mother was the narrator.

- Neil & Celeste are my headcanon names for Starlight’s parents

- I’m pretty confused on Pupcorn. Starlight states he’s “called a pupcorn”, but she also calls him Pupcorn as if it’s his name. So…which is it? And even if his species is called “pupcorns”, why doesn’t he have an actual name? Furthurmore, his name is obviously a play on the words “pup” and “popcorn”, so why doesn’t he transform into a dog?! I mean I know the point of her saying she didn’t care what he turned into was to help defy our expectations (even though he’s a cat on the stupid cover), but still! The pun was ruined. Tis a sin to ruin a pun.

- The fact that the deleted scene could only be seen in theaters is stupid and I hate that. It was a pretty decent action scene of the gang flying through asteroids and it should have at least been available on the website or YouTube page. I can’t even remember the whole thing anymore since I only saw it once. If there wasn’t enough room on the home release, they should’ve just taken out one of the Dreamtopia shorts to have it in.

Who/What inspired my muses

I can’t believe I’m doing this oh it’s going to suck so much

Part 1 because it got long because I’m wordy

Veritas: In high school I was friends with two “the art kids”. I, meanwhile, was the bookworm/writer. We all thought it’d be fun to make a comic, them drawing and me writing the dialogue, so we all said we’d come up with characters from it. Mine ended up being an elf who wore long swishy skirts and fought with dual blades and one of them drew out the design for me. The comic, haha, never got far but when I got interested in doing Tumblr rp I looked at that initial oc idea and reworked it into Veritas. The only real remnants of that origin is, well, elf. And her two swords. But I mean, my interest in fleshing out my brand of elves led to what is what I actually consider a big part of my blog-- my elves. So a lot stemmed from that initial, silly and fun idea between three kids. I’m actually still best friends with one of those girls to this day!

Vendere: My second attempt at making a less morally pure muse after my real second-but-now-removed muse Tamashi ended up nice despite my wishes. I can’t say much of the thought process behind Ven other than his name being a continuation of a Latin theme I had started with Veritas and decided to keep going, which you will continue to see later on too. The only thing I can remember is choosing his name because it was the Latin verb for “to sell”, because info broker, and because I went, “Haha and I can call him V.en like in K.ingdom H.earts.” A lot of big brain ideas going on back when I was sixteen, of which I can’t even make jokes because I’ve done it again with muses fairly recently. In retrospect it makes no sense why his Italian parents would name him that but thus is my 16-year-old-idea oc burden to bear.

Jianhuren: My first muse who I added with the intent to have a bit of a storyline going! I also! Can’t remember why I got the idea for a form shifting person who  was an amnesiac. I’m fairly certain it was an idea that came straight out of my head. At the time, I hadn’t even intended to make a species of dragons, the Red Eyes from them. So it’s kind of why they may seem a bit different in feel or canon or themes or whatever from the other Red Eyes. We were winging it, baby!!

Somnio: Oh my gosh I can’t say I’ll do this and keep saying I don’t remember for these muses! I’m sorrrryyyy these were like a good six or so years ago! I think inspiration. I think maybe the feeling of days and friends gone/soon to be gone from Summertime Record inspired him regarding his feelings towards his dead friend? At the very least, I was listening to that song a lot when I added him and I was definitely thinking of him when I did it. The “Sayonara” part always really stuck out to me.

Amara: Me: What if I did a phoenix. Me: Oh, I see phoenixes in this sense have been pointed at from coming from either or both Greek and Egyptian myth let’s make both of those his background as a fun little easter egg. Me: what if I made a muse so tragic--

Qingshan: Here we see Red Eye lore starting to take more shape! Originally I had just said that Jianhuren was attacked by a monster or something, but I then had a thought of what if it were a betrayal and the monster story is just what was told? A lot of Qingshan’s vibes and the idea to do an evil or “bad” muse came from listening to Sacrifice from Rwby! Since I had just recently gotten into it. And I mean, the music rocks. Wait.....the lyrics never quite fit Qingshan at the time but now I’m realizing they fit Zhaohui well.... hm.

Ren: More desire to expand upon my elf lore that I had started with Veritas. And a desire to touch more on the trafficking issue that elves face. Then I just thought it’d be cool to give a muse the powerset of basically the Avatar-- with setbacks.

Kareena: You know me, I’m always going to look at a predominantly white-assumed category and go, “how can I make this more Brown(tm)? Elves are always so stereotypically white in the media I saw, and I’ve always had a desire to see myself represented in fantasy genres I love so much. Veritas was actually supposed to be brown, but she was my first oc and I couldn’t find a fc that fit what I imagined for her and had brown skin, I just changed it to match her fc. Now, I clearly don’t care, haha. Anyways, Kareena was me wanting to make a brown elf, and also a differently abled one too, and I settled on her being blind. I thought it’d be an interesting study since elves have heightened and stronger senses, and here was someone who was born without one. I will say, she wasn’t perfect representation at the time, since I unknowingly fell into a bad trap of “blind person uses super senses to get around anyways with no issue”, which is something I learned later that a lot of blind people don’t like to see in media about visually impaired people! The importance of doing research beforehand, kids. Especially if you’re writing of a culture, lifestyle, or experience you haven’t lived.

William/Thanatos: .......................ok.........I don’t...........remember, sorry. To explain a little, “Thanatos” actually existed on my blog as a man named William O’Connor! A man who had died but still lived on by some raw accidental deal made by his mom to some sort of death-like entity. I only remember that I was thinking on him back when I was in another state visiting by undergrad for like the first time? And Gen Con was going on and I had like just stuck my toe into C.ritical R.ole, but I don’t know if any of that actually influenced William. Anyways, I had no intention to actually ever state or clarify what “Death” was as I intended for It to just be some sort of amalgamation of different interpretations of Death. But later on I thought it’d open up for some more interesting opportunities if I put a name to the thing and had it able to interact and do a little more. Maybe a bit before Dawn came around, for reasons?

Lucia: I had mentioned in Ren’s backstory that he ran with a group of elves when he was a kid on the streets and I’d already established another, Aeon (who’s now a side muse) so I thought it’d be fun to pick out who their de facto leader was. And I thought it’d be funny if she seemed like the least intimidating-looking person ever, but absolutely was the leader of them all for good reason. I then picked up my “angsty backstory” hammer, and I then gave her a prompt solid whack with it.

Alexa: “Okay, so I touched on the elf trafficking, but what if I did what happened when one was successfully trafficked?” Et voila. 

Val: ‘Kristen, you just added Alexa, and sure you established she has a partner but you don’t need to full on add him as a muse-- oh no how did he get on my muse page.’ Alexa and Val are also meant to be foils in the way they deal with their servitude, with Alexa having given in and Val still being rebellious. Plus, I just love non-romantic soulmates. Mwah.

Imani: “I want a Black muse. An unambiguously Black muse. Make her an elf too while I’m at it.” I love sibling dynamics and I’m a sucker and wimp for older sibling dynamic stories too so that also came into play with her and her younger brother.

Yeah I’m hopping on real quick just to be a copycat and do this after seeing @cxrsedsouls and @thewolfisawake do it. A list of my muses categorized by experience. And I’ll be shamelessly stealing Kirei’s words as a classification of what each category means too--

Sweets headcanons (because I can never remember so I need to write it down)

Veritas: The biggest sweet toothe, she loves them

Jianhuren: Likes them just fine

Aeon: They’re okay

Amara: Fond of certain types of sweets

Ren: They’re okay

Kareena: Of course she loves them

Lucia: They’re okay

Alexa: They’re okay

Val: Eh, not crazy about them

Emil: Likes them well enough

Katarina: Has specific favorites/themes she goes gaga for (she loves strawberry stuff)

Dawn: Likes them well enough.

Meihui: Nice every now and then but she’s not crazy about them

Xiaodan: Picky, he really likes his favorites, but otherwise doesn’t care about the others

Huaxiu: More moderate in his likes, but is weak for his favorites

Raven: Secretly admires really cute desserts but likes looking at them more than eating them. Actually not fond of overly sweet desserts, likes some savory to go with them

Eira: Loves them! Adores them! Really nice-looking ones get her heart racing

Zhaohui: Believe it or not, sweet tooth. Really likes them.
