she's just dropped off her third repeat piece of pie to table four and, frankly, they're lucky it hadn't come with any surprises beneath the scoop of ice cream. "you'd think people would know from the shitty decor that we're not exactly a four-star establishment.... the fuck are they expecting from cheap diner pie??"

this is the last time. seriously. - from miranda for henry
Tumblr media
the effect of her words is instant, even though he knows she's lying. lying to herself, at least. this is not the first time she's thrown these words in his direction, anger burning in her brown eyes. this is a common refrain in their conversations. you are an idiot. i'll never help you. stop being yourself. at this point in their one-sided friendship, he's decided that those are words of affection, even if she means them otherwise.
she never does anything she doesn't want to. wasting breath on a sorry lump of muscles like him is her way of appreciating his continued presence.
❛⠀ you'd leave me alone, ⠀❜ ⠀he asks, shoulders and eyes cast low. ⠀❛⠀ abandon me? no, no. you are not so cruel. tell me you're not so cruel, my dear miranda. ⠀❜

I have realized that my girl Sedge, as much as I adore her, was the wrong choice for a second playthrough because she's ALSO a dedicated martial, so the gameplay feels a little too similar to my darling barbarian girl Lorne.
I wasn't PLANNING to do a Shadowheart playthrough, but the thing is, I very much want to play Lae'zel's romance (it is both BLISTERINGLY hot and just...incredibly tender, unbelievably emotional and evocative) and I can't help but view those two as like.....Jack and Miranda levels of "somehow you idiots are inexplicably perfect for each other to the point of being my strong personal canon". Genuinely adore her and Lae'zel making each other worse before making each other significantly and meaningfully better.
And while I 100% intend to do a Lae'zel playthrough because she's hands-down my favorite character in this game, the downside is that you. Lose her character arc. If you're the one playing it. So that's a down-the-line experience.
Anyway it definitely looks like the pipeline contains:
Shadowheart playthrough with Lae'zel's romance
Pure Of Heart Dumb Of Ass INT-dump drow cleric of Selune, because I think that is THE funniest character combination, especially when designed specifically to romance Shadowheart
Redemption Durge, or: Be Evil Exactly Long Enough To Get Minthara, then get your shit together and claw your way back to the light. I think I'll try to bypass the Grove as friendlies entirely--slink along the bottom of the map, try to avoid making contact, because BG3 is a long-ass game and that's........too long to enjoy spending time in the mind of someone who'd meet the refugees and THEN coldly betray them.
The Lae'zel Playthrough TM

Totally agree with your posts. I like Alcina, but people make her out to be this wonderful person who Ethan cruelly murdered when…she’s killing / torturing / eating / maiming her maids. Whether she’s a good mom or not, her “daughters” are girls she presumably kidnapped, experimented on, killed and then kept prisoner once they mutated ( even if they’re weak to the cold and it’s to protect them.) They might have imprinted on her but they have no identity outside of Alcina ( she literally branded them with tattoos! ) and I can’t imagine she’s ever told them who they were before, as they seem to have no memory of it. Whether she genuinely loves them or not is up for debate but I think she definitely sees them as property. She is basically Miranda 2.0 and seems to want to imitate Miranda, but only one of them gets lots of hate. I think she’s fascinating and I like her, but fandom has absolutely declawed her.
Donna too, just because she’s mentally ill ( which is never specified in Miranda’s notes which could be anything, and god knows what Miranda considers mentally ill ) gets so infantilized as if she isn’t a grown woman who knows what she’s doing. The gardener’s death could be accidental, sure, but she knew what she was doing and a lot of the imagery, especially all the pier piper paintings in her house, suggests she’s been killing children ( purposely or not ) - there’s no children in the village and no one ever mentions any outside of Eva or Rose!
Villains are wonderful and interesting, and each lord is fascinating but it’s so weird to me people say they like these characters and then seem to change or ignore anything about them in canon.
I agree! I love Alcina as well, I think she’s an excellent first boss to illustrate the departure from RE7 and it’s realism, because she’s as over the top as it gets with the four lords. She’s 9”6, has daughters made of flies, lives in a huge castle and turns into a dragon when she gets stabbed by a poisoned knife. She’s fun, and part of what adds to her over the top nature as a villain is the sheer amount of violence and destruction that comes along with her.
I would say that technically it was Mother Miranda who kidnapped the girls, or at least stole their corpses, since Alcina recounts Mother Miranda bringing her the girls. Regardless of this, Alcina was still complicit in this experimentation and just kept the results of it. To me, Alcina’s value of the daughters has always seemed to be placed on the fact that Mother Miranda gave them to her. She does not treat the girls like children she cares about, she just orders them to do her dirty work for her regardless of the danger it presents for them, while Alcina - who is almost endlessly durable and much more capable of killing Ethan - just roams around the castle. You are absolutely right in saying that Alcina is close to being a second Mother Miranda. She is the only person who’s opinion Alcina really seems to value, and in terms of their actions and the amount of people they have each killed or in some other way harmed, Alcina comes the closest.
I hadn’t actually considered the imagery in Donna’s house, but that’s a very good point! The one I always remember is the painting of a pregnant woman that falls when you pass it, which is a nice addition to the theme of the house with its warped imagery and recounting of Mia’s pregnancy and Rose, so environmental design in House Beneviento is very intentional especially in that regard. Donna’s method is so interesting, and the potential of her victims being children - which would explain why there are no children in the village and why there are so many dolls hanging around her property, perhaps to lure them in - is something I really would like to see more people discuss rather than absolving her of all wrongdoing because of this supposed incapability she has to understand her very calculated actions and what she shows Ethan. I love both of these evil women! Let them be evil! They’re more interesting that way!

What’s the wildest thing that’s happened in a campaign of yours besides the elf mariachi band
In a campaign I’ve ran: it’s between Lin Manuel Miranda appearing and having an NPC blame the party for why he summoned the BBEG
In a campaign I’ve played in: Chuck Mallowred, a jock with -2 to INT somehow surviving a Modoka Magica-esque shadow witch attacking and absorbing a campsite set in the 80’s and becoming the final girl we never knew we needed

Lif: Miranda is the baker of the two us. It's something she likes to do when she had has the time. Though it did take her some practice to get better at cooking and baking here. She's mentioned that in her world has things that help make the process faster and easier. But she still finds some enjoyment int. Most of what she makes turns out good. The only time it doesn't is if she forgets something or gets distracted.
As for me I'm not the best at it. Typically I'm lucky if it turns out decent. The best I can manage is anything that can be cooked over a campfire.

Twins Edge Sox In 11!
Twins 8 White Sox 6 W-Duran (5-3) L-Shuster (1-2) SV-Funderburk (1)
The Minnesota Twins embarked on their final road trip of the first half tonight. The first stop was in Chicago to play the lowly White Sox. The Twins were ready early and struck in the first when Trevor Larnach smacked a Chris Flexen curveball out to right for a solo homer. This put the Twins up by a run before the White Sox grabbed a bat. The Sox answered in the third as Martin Maldonado knocked a Chris Paddack change-up out to left-center for a solo homer. This tied the game at one after three innings of play. The Twins responded in the fourth as Max Kepler lined a two-out double to right. Byron Buxton doubled him home and the Twins regained their lead. The White Soux bounced back in the fifth when Eloy Jimenez led-off with a base hit to left. With two outs, Corey Julks doubled home a run to tie the game at two apiece. The White Sox would get back to work int he sixth as Andrew Benintendi was hit by a pitch and Andrew Vaughn doubled to center. Eloy Jimenez then lined a one-out single to right-center to put Chicago on top. With two outs, Nicky Lopez had a hopper get through the infield to plate another run. Later in the inning, Ryan Jeffers threw to an unoccupied second base to score Eloy Jimenez to put Chicago up by three. The Twins would rally in the seventh with a Byron Buxton lead-off double. Brooks Lee knocked him in with a single to right and Matt Wallner crushed a Jordan Leasure fastball out to right for a two-run home run. Carlos Correa then belted a Jordan Leasure slider out to left for a solo homer and the Twins retook the lead. The White Sox would rally in the eighth with a Luis Robert lead-off walk. He stole second and reached third on a wild pitch. Nicky Lopez dumped a bloop single to left to tie the game at six. Both bullpens held up and we headed in extra innings tonight. Michael Kopech put up a zero in the tenth and Jhoan Duran did the same. Byron Buxton led-off the eleven with a single and Brooks Lee knocked in ghost runner Max Kepler with a single to center. Manny Margot hit an RBI groundout to third to double the Twins lead. Kody Funderburk threw a 1-2-3 eleventh and the Twins picked up the win in the series opener tonight.
-Final Thoughts- Chris Paddack was decent in his return from the injured list. He went five innings and allowed two runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Steven Okert gave up two runs over 1/3 of an inning and Josh Staumont gave up an unearned run in 2/3 of an inning. Jorge Alcala had a scoreless seventh, Griffin Jax gave up a run in the eighth, and Caleb Thielbar threw up a zero in the ninth. Jhoan Duran had a scoreless tenth and Kody Funderburk had a perfect eleventh. Byron Buxton led the way with three hits on the night. Willi Castro, Jose Miranda, Brooks Lee, and Matt Wallner had two hits each. The Twins hit 5-for-17 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Tomorrow, Bailey Ober will face Erick Fedde in Game 2.

⭐star⭐ - any easter eggs so to speak that you are excited about from project Ironwolf?? <33
Director's cut meme!
ONE DAY MIRANDA! ONE DAY I WILL WORK ON IT!
Bonus: So Myranda Greyjoy is actually showing up in Arc II of Maiden since I needed a Greyjoy.
But as for Project Ironwolf, there's so much that's still up int he air, but something I'm excited about is exploring how Tywin Lannister lost the support of the Marbrands the moment Myranda steps to shore and they're aware of her existence (Myranda's mother, Briony, is Addam's sister and Tywin didn't go to rescue her because she'd be 'ruined scraps' by the time they got there). Briony Marbrand is everything to me and I adore her and she's lost every bit of softness and the final vestiges lie locked away deep in Myra's heart.

News traveled fast, especially in events like these. Mass casualties, while giving plenty of surgeries, seemed to find their way around these parts more often than one would think possible. Seattle wasn’t supposed to be that dangerous of a city, and yet it seemed every year there was at least one major mass casualty event. Miranda was preparing the ER for the onslaught of patients that would soon be gracing the hospital halls. She was barking out orders, telling people to make sure to have plenty of suture kits and everything else on standby. She wasn’t a trauma surgeon but she could sure help like one if she needed to.
As the preparations continued, Miranda spotted a familiar - and uninviting - face walking through the hospital, but the sight of the little girl next to her caused the general surgeon to stop whatever vicious comment she had been prepared to make to Elaine. Instead, she put down the supplies she had been carrying and moved over to the chief, confused as to why she was watching a kid in this chaos and why she’d brought her to the pit of all places.
“Chief Sawyer,” she greeted, lukewarm, offering Ayla a smile. “Do you really think you should be walking around the hospital - the pit, even - with a small child?” There were bound to be things down here that someone as young as Ayla shouldn’t see.
