The whole "breasts shouldn't be politicized because the primary purpose of breasts is to feed babies!" can be a fine jumping-off point, but I really wish people thought deeper than that when we talk about the ways in which bodies are politicized and restricted.

Like, why's it that when we talk about breasts, they must have some Higher Purpose? It's true that breasts aren't inherently sexual, but they aren't valuable solely because they can potentially feed a baby. A human body doesn't have to serve a Higher Purpose in order for it to not be legislated against or policed, and I just wish people would remember it isn't always about babies, about other people, about anything else other than the people who have that body.

I forgot to mention how happy I am that Belos didn't die a quick and/or off screen death like we see in many animated shows. They made that fucker slowly melt away in acid rain while the embodiment of the thing he sought to destroy stared down at him. the best thing about the footloose scene is that like... it objectively serves absolutely no use to the plot moving forward. like yes it shows what jayme's spit does but the delores scene happens like five minutes later and serves literally the exact same purpose in showing that she makes hallucinations by spitting at people. they could have just made that her power's introduction and it wouldn't have changed much plot wise but instead they went "no were going to make diego hallucinate one of the most fun and memorable dance scenes in the show since I Think We're Alone Now even though it isn't Actually Happening" & I for one am obsessed

amazed that some people still haven't gotten out of the 2010s social-justice culture war rhetoric of something being a constructed social system meaning it's 'not real'. like yeah no shit nations and ethnicities 'aren't real', but it would be utterly wrong to argue that they don't still act as genuine axes of oppression - and therefore as the basis for shared struggle - even if they don't have strict, prescriptive definitions that could define any single *individual* as a member of them or not. yes, there are people who are simply nationalists, but it's incorrect to describe nationalism as simply a 'tactic' taken up by communists, rather than a genuine end unto itself. those simple nationalists are, until the national liberation movement is through, genuinely progressive, genuinely revolutionary, without caveat. saying otherwise represents a failure to understand our positions as being historically contingent and historically situated. the proletarian, socialist cause is not the zenith of human progress. it is simply the correct and ascendant movement in given historical conditions, just as capitalism once was. failure to understand that is precisely what leads to idiotic, immaterial positions like 'neither hamas nor israel'
