I have my gripes with carpe diem but I mostly just love it because it is quite literally “the only way we can get this guy to tell people how he died is if we write him into a teensy tiny corner where he thinks he’s about to be gone forever” and that is hilarious to me

"wanting fiction to be relatable is selfish" my dude you can advocate for people getting outside of their own perspectives (a good thing) without implying that the human desire to be understood and empathized with is vapid and bourgeois

This is not at all a theory for Tears of The Kingdom, because I don't think it's at all plausible, but I do think it would be very fun as a what-if.
So, canonical information (or logical conjecture)
In BotW, Guardian Lasers basically obliterate what they hit.
Link was struck in the chest originally.
Some combination of the original wound and the Shrine of Resurrection left some sort of scar on Link's torso that is not obvious to the player or casual onlooker, but Robbie knows to look for it.
Link seems to be, despite everything, stronger in some ways post-reanimation- he is able to parry Guardian Lasers, his inability to do so in the past took him out. (for the purposes of this post I will not respect Age of Calamity. neener neener you're noncanonical)
Heartbeat motifs are increasingly obvious, especially in the trailers for Tears Of The Kingdom, and Ganondorf's actual true body is being held down by a hand clamped around where his heart should be. Calamity Ganon's incubation sack resembles a heart conspicuously.
The shrine of resurrection and Calamity Ganon's incubation sack strongly resemble each other.
Link, and Calamity Ganon, reemerged at the same time.
Now, on that last point, the implicit causation is pretty clear to us that Zelda held on as long as she possibly could while Link healed in suspension, and when her power weakened, with ClamGan surging, she had to wake Link up early, implicitly resulting in things like his disoriented memory and physical weakness. Because of our POV being limited to Link, we don't fully get that though; we can only observe Calamity Ganon active and dangerous after Link has been woken up. Others mention, IIRC, that things have been getting more dangerous for a while, but we don't know if what they saw is the same as what we are seeing now.
I propose a hypothesis:
What if the Shrine of Resurrection gave Link a heart transplant? It would likely be the heart and lungs that were the most damaged. But of course, it'd seem odd this shrine just, has a viable heart ready to go when it's an ancient thing not used in a long time.
Unless the Sheikah tech system stored throughout the land happened to have a heart that it had removed from someone, that would survive outside of its host?
Or to be more direct: What if the entire time in BotW, Link is running around with Ganondorf's heart inside his chest and he doesn't know, because the only external indication is a heart surgery scar from technology that almost nobody else in the setting would know to look for?

this bit from baghs’ lore is haunting me . a blackboard with all the francophones’ initals . were all of them originally island experiments that managed to escape like qbaghs?
#qsmp#baghera jones#french lore goes haaaaaard#like . okay . baghs was a child hybrid experiment who grew up with the feds then eventually managed to escape .#we know Someone was asked and then instructed to Get Her Back#which we think means the whole crashing the plane on purpose thing . which we think kameto orchestrated#and all the other francophones have Some sort or connection to the island and experiments as well#étoiles serving as a test subject during his code fights for the feds#the feds nearly torturing aypierre to death (fucked up . btw can we talk about that) to get info out of him#and then performing some dubious ass unknown procedure on him to save his life#antoine has less tying him to the feds as of Now but we know he doesn’t hold as much hatred for the feds as the others do . like he’s very#neutral and almost lenient towards them (suceur de cucurucho . anw)#so there’s links for All of them . multiple hints pointing towards a shared islander past linked to the federation#maybe that explains why the federation seems so chill about them (in comparison to the brazilians lmao)#like . they’re not That outwardly aggressive towards them#maybe the Feds are just so smug and pleased that they got their experiments back that they don’t mind being lenient towards them now .#because they’ve got them back in their clutches and this time they won’t be able to leave#hmmmmmmm okay current theory: baghs n some of the others (at least aypierre and étoiles though probs antoine too) managed to escape the fed#kameto stayed behind for x reason idk he’s a fed simp . anw he was then instructed to orchestrate the plane crash to bring the others back#and he did . and the vague memories aypierre has and the ‘oh maybe they’re not so bad’ mentality antoine has#are just the old Feelings being stirred up by being back on the island despite the amnesia#okay boom im so smart#jay rambles#incredibly long tag set im not sorry

I find it so interesting that despite using Latin surnames, Muir doesn't care about gender agreement until it comes to Kiriona.
Harrow and Ianthe both have masculine surnames (Nonagesimus and Tridentarius), as do most characters with Latin name endings (us, a, um), but Kiriona? Oh there's something very interesting there.
In Ancient Rome, male citizens were commonly distinguished by three part names: praenomen, nomen, and cognomen. Since I'm still feeling festive, take Gaius Iulius Caesar. His praenomen is Gaius, and is equivalent to a "first name." Iulius is his nomen, and tells which "gens" or tribe he belonged to, in this case the Iulia. And his cognomen is his personal last name, which is what he was known by in public life. There are a bunch of other names that were also used (why keep anything simple), but it's important to note that women, generally, did not have three part names, and were known by their fathers' gens names, feminized, as well as their cognomen (also feminized).
So as "Kiriona" is Maori for "Gideon," it ties Kiriona to her heritage; a gens name telling where she and Jod came from. And "Gaia" is the feminine form of John's "cognomen."
Which stands out first because Kiriona is not particularly feminine, and that could be Muir's attempt to give her that connection (which might have been harder otherwise since she's a prince now), but because her name is also the only one that follows Roman naming conventions, it ties her to him in entirety. It's not just that she's John's daughter, it's that she has no identity outside him now; she is him. A piece of him more than a full version of herself.

I know most people least favorite part about prime is the egg council, but honestly….am I the only one that kind of enjoyed them?? They’re like all of Eggmans traits spilt into 5 different characters. Yes there are some I enjoyed more than others (My favorites being Dr.Deep and Dr.Don’t) but I never found any of them so annoying that it ruined some of the show for me, that also goes for Dr.Babble, I honestly found that baby entertaining in most parts.

"you're not traumatized by being raised by parents who were way too young and were raised in shitty families themselves and who never taught you emotional intelligence and isolated you from pretty much all of your non churchgoing peers, you're just a little silly! and you cry whenever you notice any sort of shift in the way someone speaks to you and take it as a personal rejection, whether or not it was intentional, but that's unrelated"

Actually, your answer was really interesting because I did not know any of these things! :D Also can I just say, even though you very rarely talk about your experience with cameras/film, it's so nice when you do! I love seeing people talk about something that they are passionate about and/or have relevant experience in.
If I remember correctly, even their bangtan bombs/eps and run bts episodes used to be better quality a few months or years ago. They obviously do not need to be as good as their docus (i love break the silence's quality AND editing so much!), but I noticed a few CCs talking about how it got worse. Why do you think they switched?
oh good i was kinda worried i came off a bit snobby with that response when i totally didn’t mean to 😭 i’m really only just speculating and applying my own knowledge of cameras to what i’ve observed, but i’m no expert and could of course be wrong. i definitely don’t claim to know better than a professional film crew, but in my experience working on sets and learning about what types of cameras work best for the overall product and will provide the best results, it’s been interesting (and frustrating as a cc lol) to see the quality steadily reduce in things like run bts and bangtan bombs. my theory as to why they’ve downgraded to cheaper cameras for those types of media in recent years? besides it being cost effective, well…frankly, they don’t have to hire people with previous experience on any type of film crew to do it. and i’m not saying they don’t have people around who know what they’re doing and are using great, high quality equipment when a situation calls for it—but i think they ALSO have inexperienced staff who they put in charge of the “b-roll” cameras for content that isn’t as prioritized as what the bigger documentary cameras pick up. so like youtube stuff for example. or even most stuff they release on memories dvds. that inexperience comes through a LOT in those videos these days, especially when it comes to simple camera settings like adjusting the white balance to the light in the room or changing the ISO to give a slightly brighter image. really simple fixes that are instead consistent nuisances. i hate to say it so bluntly but i really don’t think some of these staff are taught to use a camera properly at all seeing as they have become a bit careless about it. if you’ve ever seen fan videos from afar of the boys and you notice like one random person trailing behind some member with a small camera in one hand, that’s the kind of thing i’m talking about. proper film crew members are usually distinguishable by the bigger shoulder cams and extra gear they’re wearing, especially if there are extra bodies around them with lights and better mics. that candid footage is fine and it works in certain contexts, i’m not trying to completely disregard certain job roles because i’m sure it’s not easy trying to catch everything all the time, but for a company with so much money it’s a bit laughable how lazy, for lack of a better word, they’ve become when it comes to providing decent footage of certain moments. but sometimes it later turns out that a professional doc crew caught those same moments from other angles! i’ve noticed that happen and we’ve already seen it in one of the disney trailers with the moment they were nominated for their first grammy.

To be honest I never really understood the "Eichi started the war because he liked Wataru and couldn't be normal about it" thing because like??????????????? What's the war going to do about that?????? What is Eichi getting out of antagonising Wataru and his only friends to the public and almost working himself into an early grave???? How would Eichis relationship with Wataru benefit from holding public executions for half of the eccentrics and turning them into scapegoats and actively declaring his unit as an "enemy" of theirs???? In what world would that be a successful courting ritual I mean I understand Eichi can be extra and Wataru is the definition of the word but genuinely how does that entire train of thought make sense???? Eichi is a lot of things but he's not stupid. The man has the common sense to not do All Of That just for the sake of getting closer to one individual in a way that would never ever work on anyone with some semblance of common sense. The Tomoya Sanctuary incident happened because Eichi was jealous and couldn't be normal aboout it.
And not even to mention how, if the aforementioned was the case, that would also never have worked with Wataru because the reason Wataru was so in on his role was because he knew it was serving a greater purpose. He's not the type to go along with a plan like that simply to satisfy some other guys strange ways of showing his admiration via turning the object of his affections and aforementioneds friends into social outcasts. He's not the type. And neither is Eichi.
That entire train of thought would make absolutely no sense if taken beyond the "haha funny joke" stage

there's something to be said about the idea of headcanons, and of plastering bits you resonate with onto pre-written characters, in an effort to "see yourself" in them. it's not malicious at all, but sometimes I wonder what the whole purpose of it is.
if it's for some kind of representation, to see certain ideas or traits manifest in a story you like, i would understand but also tell you to just like....go read something else. instead of ordering a hawaiian pizza minus the pineapple, just order a ham and cheese pizza. if that makes sense. lots of people on here love to post all about their favorite stories with queer headcanons, but refuse to take the step outside their realm of comfort and read something that has those queer themes actually interwoven into the story.
other times, people claim to do it just to see themselves reflected more in their favorite characters. which feels equally as flimsy to me. if you can't emphasize or even find enjoyment in a story if the characters dont resemble you (or an idealized you) in some way, then. idk. maybe work on that or something

something I really appreciate about Outer Wilds is how focused it is. Everything in that game, from the mechanics to the lore to the music, either furthers the understanding of the story or serves the underlying theme. Despite the compact dialogue trees, every line is packed with characterization so each person you encounter feels unique. The world beyond the scope of the story is hinted at to make it feel bigger, but it never gives more than would serve the story. They could have easily added more snippets of dialogue or discoveries to add to the worldbuilding, but that would have only served to dilute the core of the game. Instead, they got in, said what they needed to say, and got out. No muddying the waters, nothing that doesn't serve the goal.
I could write a whole essay on this and maybe one day I will. But for now I'm just appreciating the sheer power of storytelling in an incredibly non-linear game.
