I HC that in a modern au Sukuna also rock the aesthetic of traditional japanese. Constantly in kimono, smoking with a kiseru, memorized all the poem to play Karuta and because he like them, watching rakugo and kabuki representation and also perfect a kyudo and martial arts in general

100%!! modern sukuna would absolutely rock traditional japanese fashion and aesthetic. their family gatherings just gives sukuna an opportunity to dis his fam for having no style or sense of fashion.

also to add to your hc, he has a small library in his house where he keeps all his favourite japanese poems and literature and some world’s classic novels but in their original editions (cause he's a nerd like that). he’s also great at sword fighting and he has a huge collection of all sorts of swords and blades.

Oh boy this is...quite an ask. Especially bc fanfic recs are so personal? What I think is a good fic will be vastly different from other people. I have a really high angst tolerance, so please double check tags with these. Also keep in mind that I mainly read donnie-centric fics.

It is VERY well written and has some of the best exchanges between the disaster twins. You WILL be scared for the characters and your heart WILL be crushed. Proud to say I was here for this fic since chapter 1 bc that NEVER happens with me

Turning Purple by Lizardstuff | 48,123 [ON-GOING]

Donnie slowly gets more and more sick post rise movie and the rest of the characters must find out what’s wrong and find a cure. THIS ONE’S FOR YOU, MEDICAL NERDS. Author has done research and any inaccuracies have gone over this EMT’s head. I reread this one every chapter update and every time I’m haunted by “the blueberry french toast paragraph” No I will not explain further, go read it.

MY TOP FIC RECOMMENDATION

Spider's Web with Strings Attached by CurlySwirly | 125,661 [ON-GOING]

Donnie and Leo get kidnapped and are forced to fight in the battle nexus. This is my pick for the most well written fanfic and most in canon characterization with ALL the characters. You will HEAR the characters not just through the dialogue but also through the writing itself. As the reader, you will be beaten down and have your heart crushed mercilessly which makes the pay off the most rewarding, satisfying experience that I've personally ever felt with a fanfic. This fic lives in my head rent free and I think about it at least once a day. It is my all time favorite rise fic and I highly recommend it.

So I remember we once had a conversation about Danny radiating protagonist vibes, so my prompt is having one of this friends telling him something to that effect? I feel like if anyone could pick up on his main character vibes, it’d be one if his friends, lol.

In one of the chapters of Insomniacs Anonymous, I did have Danny remark how he would be a 'background character' to Marinette and Tim's detective show (albeit a beloved background character, in his own words) but for someone else to mention to him how much of a protagonist vibe he got... I can kinda picture it going somewhere like Hleb's piece of fanart where Tucker wonders if the Fenton parents could be considered mad scientists/supervillains... and Danny has a bit of an existential crisis over it.

Just like:

"This isn't an anime," Danny remarked doubtfully, giving his friends his best skeptical look. Inwardly, however, he's sweating like he'd just been yeeted into the sun. "I do not give off protagonist vibes and- no, no! Sam, I do not-" Except the more he insisted the more Sam seem to think about it, and Danny could already tell he's lost her to Tucker's argument.

"I mean... You've already got the Sailor Moon magical girl transformation going for you," Sam reminded him with an apologetic look.

"I was thinking more Boku no Hero Academia, but that works better," Tucker replied thoughtfully, nodding. As if that made everything alright.

"I am not a protagonist, anime or otherwise," Danny told them through clenched teeth.

"You are totally a protagonist, you've got all the vibes for it," Sam laughed at his expense. And quite gleefully at that. "I bet you'd have a wicked theme song and everything."

"Yo, Danny Fenton he was just 14 when his parents built a very strange machine-" Tucker started spitting lyrics as if he'd been born to do it. Sam hollered like a professional hype-man, adding acoustics to his beat.

Danny slammed his hands over his ears and screamed. It was a miracle he didn't accidentally Ghostly Wail on them both.

Joan would've been in and out of jail her entire life. As a child of the system with a conduct disorder, she had no support system to better herself. She would've re-offended over and over. Too stubborn to commit suicide, too stupid to take anger management, she would've wasted her life behind bars. Never would've considered being a cop. Not smart enough to be a detective.

Zalgo will always be Joan's best case scenario. They can never image getting life together on their own and probably wouldn't have. Like the mansion residents- living under some awful entity's rule is the best case scenario. All of them have made peace with that reality but Joan hasn't.

Alenoah Hypnosis AU, where Alejandro offers to hypnotize Noah, Noah says yes but makes sure that Owen + Izzy + Tyler is around to make sure that Alejandro doesn't make him do anything too embarrassing...

But Alejandro only adds a hypnotic trigger... Whenever Alejandro offers Noah a hug, Noah feels a strong urge to cuddle Alejandro... It's Alejandro own way of playfully messing with Noah... Noah hates it (but secretly enjoys the cuddles)... Owen + Izzy + Tyler doesn't stop Alejandro from adding the trigger, cause they think the hugging might help the anti-social grumpy Noah...

I know this version of the AU is weird, but hopefully it's a little less messed up then the 'Noah turns into Alejandro's puppet' AU! 🍥

Wait why is this actually kind of cute though?

It's still a little bit ethically questionable, which sort of comes with the territory, but the idea of Alejandro using his access to Noah's subconscious solely to make Noah want to hug him is actually kind of sweet. In a sort-of-messed-up kind of way.

It also implies that Alejandro already really wants Noah to hug him, which. I don't know if I prefer "already infatuated with Noah" or "incredibly touch-starved and positive attention-starved" as his motivation for doing so (though both is always an option). Either way, this lad just wants a hug from his favourite sourpuss.

And the mental image of Noah, salty pessimist that he is, physically fighting against the urge to koala cling to Alejandro at his prompt is really funny. He'd be so against the whole concept, not for any moral reasons, but because he'd find wanting to hug someone inherently embarrassing (not that he'd let anyone else know that) and "insulting to someone of his intelligence". I'm just imagining him making the most disgruntled facial expression whilst Al's grinning at him, waiting with open arms.
