The astrology of Gilmore Girls characters PART 1

* PSA - I won’t be going off canon, just my own interpretation but a lot of them match canon. Gilmore girls really thought of astrology when giving the characters their birthdays. Also the explanations aren’t that long or detailed because I’m lazy..

Rory Gilmore

Libra sun:

Rory is canonically a Libra sun and in my opinion this fits her perfectly. She’s charming, romantic, a people pleaser, diplomatic and intelligent.

Cancer moon:

This placement indicates an intense bond with the mother. Rory is dependant on Lorelai and vise versa - in a way which some would view as toxic (Lorelai often was too open with Rory as if she was a friend not her daughter)

Virgo rising:

Whilst this placement can be deemed as intimidating, I feel like Rory’s libra placements make up for it for good first impressions. With mercury being her chart ruler it explains her love for learning and her ambition. Rory was also perfectionistic when it came to school - (obsessing over Harvard, extracurriculars) etc. Very self critical and can’t handle criticism which comes in to play during her Yale drop out situation.

Throughout the show Rory juggled a few relationships but often commitment was an issue. Kissing Tristan whilst in a relationship with Dean, Kissing Jess whilst in a relationship with Dean & the Dean/Lindsay situation. To preface, this placement doesn’t mean you’re a cheater just that commitment is something you might struggle with until you find ‘the one’ — I think the closest thing to that on the show was Logan considering she only kissed Jess once she found out Logan was seeing other people. Notably in the early seasons Rory was unable to respond when Dean and Jess told her they loved her for the first time (a lot of this is to do with her family upbringing and her parents divorce) but her venus placement could explain some of this too. Sagittarius venus’ love intellectual people so this could explain her attraction to Jess in particular.

Gemini mars:

Excels at hurting people with words “Huh quippy why so silent” she always had good comebacks. Debates is one of Rory’s specialities so it makes sense for her to have a Gemini mars.

Lorelai Gilmore

Taurus sun:

So many people have said this before but Taurus is just the perfect sign for her. Lorelai was one of the most stubborn characters on the show — even if she needed help with something she would try to deal with it on her own. Despite what she went through she had ambition to succeed in her own way without the help of her parents. Very generous with her loved ones. The downside I would say is the possessiveness she had over Rory which could be a little toxic sometimes. Craves financial security.

Sagittarius moon:

Sagittarius moons do not like to be controlled, Lorelai needed her personal freedom and independence from her parents and relationships. Also known for their witty humour - Lorelai was one of the funniest characters on the show never a dull moment.

OOH that's a good one,, I have seen too many movies for the first time this year to try and do all of them though jfskn SO I am gonna go with the first ten I think of, I hope that is okay <3

Beau is Afraid - I really like Ari Aster's other two movies, and I knew this one was more divisive so I went in with an open mind. I wanted to like this movie but ehhh it just didn't do it for me. I don't think it's bad, I liked parts of it, and it's very clearly a personal passion project so I'm glad it exists on principle. but I think it dragged on a little longer than necessary and it was a little too mean-spirited to work for me the way I feel like it was meant to. still succeeds at being an absolute nightmare, just not one I find as resonant as Hereditary or Midsommar. also Aster clearly has some less than stellar opinions about homeless people.

Sunshine - hadn't heard of this movie til my mom told me about it but I really liked it! honestly it takes something a little special to get me properly invested in space movies, idk why, but this succeeds. probably because the cast is great and also the way the story events unfold is Terrifying. the way the sun is used as an unknowable terror is really cool. I'd call this movie viscerally beautiful in that, eldritch horror "so-horrible-it's-beautiful" kind of way? it's hard to explain it was just very striking to me. the third act gets a lot of flack from what I've seen and I do kinda get why, but I liked it, I don't think the twist is bad.

All My Friends Hate Me - oh baby this movie made me want to rip my skin off hgjsknfd y'know those posts that are like "horror movies have nothing on secondhand embarrassment"? well this is a horror movie about secondhand embarrassment. it's just failed social interaction after failed social interaction as the tension steadily builds and it is ROUGH. I've never hated seeing myself in a character as much as I haaaated seeing myself in Pete. if this shit happened to me I'd end up on the news. I feel like I have to Do Something to avoid this happening to me. nightmare of a movie. I liked it a lot.

Bottoms - I watched this on the plane when I went to Minnesota in April :] I wanted to see it in theaters last year and ended up missing it, and aughhh I really wish I'd gotten to see it in theaters cuz it's SO fun. so silly. absolute delight. I would like Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott to star in ten more movies together please.

To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar - I adored this movie <3 it's fun and very genuinely kind, and Patrick Swayze's performance as Vida was just as phenomenal as that one post said. all three of the main drag queens were played so well, Wesley Snipes and John Leguizamo deserve praise for their portrayals, too. good movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine - I had fun! it's no masterpiece obviously and I definitely think the first two Deadpools are objectively better in terms of story and character work, but this one was very successfully fun and that's really the main thing I want from a Deadpool movie. excellent fight scenes. the opening credits were tailor made specifically for me, by the way. that was for Me-

Trap - I have seen one other M. Night Shyamalan movie in my time and it was a while ago so I can't speak on his whole catalogue, but folks who know his work better let me know what other movies of his are like Trap, cuz I enjoyed Trap. it's so fucking goofy I had a great time. nobody talks or behaves like an actual person and that's like half the charm. it's a nepotism movie to boost Saleka Shyamalan's music career and I respect that cuz it's not subtle and it's entertaining. not Amazing or anything but it's solidly fun.

Dream Scenario - the movie where Nic Cage plays a guy named Paul Matthews... strange movie!! bizarrely distressing at times. I was drunk with my bestie when I watched it so I think I'd have to watch it again to know how I really feel about it. I don't think I disliked it though. solidly surreal and interesting for sure.

We're All Going to the World's Fair - not as good as I Saw the TV Glow, imo, but still very good! very slow and quiet and somber. excellent use of its low budget. reeeeally captured that specific feeling of adolescence, holing up in your room and watching videos you probably shouldn't in the dark late at night. very "haha I did that" for me. also May Leitz was there!! which I still think is very cool. extremely niche cameo but hey I was the audience for it.

Saw - I think. that Saw is fine hgnkdmsg it's fine. it doesn't do for me what it seems to do for a lot of other people on this site, but I liked it fine. good ending definitely, the ending is probably the best part imo. that and Amanda's trap sequence, best parts. I am interested in the sequels, I don't know if I'll watch ALL of them but I'd like to dip into them at some point. I liked it fine.

I think the misogyny comes into play when people blame ONLY the woman (the “mistress”), and don’t put enough heat on the man who did the cheating. Especially in cases where the man may have not been truthful about his current relationship status (I mean that generally speaking; idk whether that was the case with fboy and Candice or Ari and her man). Women tend to get more heat for things than men do. But yes the woman should still be held accountable, and it’s not inherently misogynistic to do so.

🏜️I would prefer to do a part 2 to this now that I have some more concepts under my belt. The major public life event will come in handy. I cannot believe seven months have gone by since I wrote this. I am going to go through and update it.

I am not a certified astrologer but I am taking a traditional astrology course. This is for entertainment and learning purposes only.

Please do not copy or plagiarize my work. I’ve been procrastinating for years to get this out of my head, throw me a bone here. 🍖

Also please note that I use 🗣whole houses, traditional astrology style. Many of these observations are sign-based aspects due to the unpublicized birth time. I looked for fairly close conjunctions, squares, oppositions, etc. by paying attention to where the planets fell at the beginning/middle/ending of the signs. The planets don’t change THAT much over the course of a day but still that first house is critical to interpreting the rest of a chart.

🚀Pisces with ruler Jupiter in 1H —> powerful placement, someone that can make change happen. Generally likable and gregarious people. Jupiter is at its domicile in Pisces, however it’s benevolence is not at the top of its game in a night chart.

✨Venus is star of the show in a nocturnal chart, which is great for the Native as its in its domicile in Taurus. Venus makes a trine to her exalted Cap Mars, really firming up that standard classic physical beautiful.

💭Pure conjecture: The birth time is unpublicized due to 9H Scorpio Pluto influence. Since Pluto is in its domicile in Scorpio, this makes it a strong planet in a strictly quantitative way (quality over quantity) and plays out by being largely paranoid about such things related to 9H topics such as learning, or being the unintentional subject of others learning. (Sorry… I realize this makes me a hypocrite but maybe just the heart of a reporter to get the truth out.)

🏹Her 10H Sag Saturn makes a sextile to her 8H Libra Moon 🌙—> possibly this is her karmic “reward” equal (⚖️) to the behavior during/around Saturn return time (approximately 5 or so years ago, assuming most peoples SR end by 30.)

🪐Saturn takes its time to deliver harsh punishment but he is exact, calculating and always accurate. Albeit seemingly cruel and unforgiving, which maintains the fear threshold and thus his power.

⛴Mercury in Aries in the 2H ruling personal finances makes an opposition to her 8H moon of other peoples money, essentially meaning her 👄 🔥 angry mouth gets her in trouble. She is impulsive and quick to anger thanks to the Aries mercury. (No judgment, cause same.) Pointing out where this tension lies, in the axis of money, is where it will and has affected her.

🔼The Saturn-Mercury trine also speaks to this possible being a karma-related thing which I’ve read titles and a couple good articles from other authors regarding the karma of her and Depp’s charts. And she is right around the age to where Saturn can strike so to speak. That’s the thing with him: he is so long-lasting and ever-present, that he can strike at any moment, again feeding the fear and maintaining power.

🥷The 12H of hidden enemies is ruled by Saturn which falls in her 10h of career. It is present with the modern ruler of Aquarius: Uranus, the planet of unexpected change. This spells out trouble and enemies in regards to career-like arenas and connections.
