ren felt weird as soon as he was told tidal would be sharing a bus with phoenix. he knew things weren’t the best between the groups. he’s always had ill feelings with yoon ever since what happened with danbi went down. it seemed their little rivalry when their solo comebacks dropped the same week had intensified that. though sometimes he felt there was something else underlying their beef, a whole different reason. was he paranoid or overthinking that? maybe. then eden was always picking on danbi’s friend, he knew his bandmate could be an ass to everyone but this came off a little different. ren never saw that before so he couldn’t put his finger on what exactly was happening there. and finally the chanwoo kid — he was everywhere all at once and he could see the staff getting gray hairs, even his own team’s. it was pretty humorous so that was the one he didn’t mind experiencing.

getting a little worried about the pelting rain against the bus’s windows, ren was finding it hard to relax. instead, his wide eyes were trained on his managers as they conversed with phoenix’s and also the bus driver. it seemed they were on the same page as him because soon they were parked in front of a motel. it looked a slightly scary. were all american motels like this? “ren-ah. you’ll be with yoon for tonight, he has the key. go ahead and get some sleep.” his manager brought his attention away from the flickering light in the corner. “seriously? okay. . i guess.” he sighed heavily, hesitantly making his way over to the phoenix dancer. he was too tired and too anxious to argue, he just needed a bed.

“guess we’re roomies.” ren grumbled to the younger man.

Apparently the local university’s undergraduate entomology course sends students to catch insect specimens at the same place I like to go birdwatching, which explains why I saw three enormous frat looking dudes with tiny bug nets and overheard one emphatically say “bro BRO I told you we already have enough lepidopterans”

the infinite building was decked out in holiday decorations, from lights to ornaments to mistletoes hidden around — he wasn’t sure the last one was done by any employees or a certain someone but he wasn’t going to dwell on that. despite the cheery festive atmosphere, ren still couldn’t shake the weird feeling he’d gotten ever since he left the dorm that morning. it almost made him not want to leave the warm, comforting, safe temperatures into the cold winter that took over seoul. but he’d been in meetings and rehearsals for his upcoming solo for hours, the guitarist was ready to pretty much hibernate for the rest of the day and into the evening. it proved to be true the moment he stepped outside, the two figures of girls he’d taken a quick glance behind at were like shadows and he was sure the goosebumps weren’t from the cold. it wasn’t until he turned a corner that he knew he had to take cover somewhere, sharply ducking into a coffee shop. it must've been too sharp as he ended up running into someone and promptly spilling whatever they were holding judging from the liquid splashing on his clothing. “fuck! i’m sorry, i’m so sorry—“ he rambled, words stopping short as soon as he finally laid eyes on who exactly it was. well. . the firm body he’d bumped into made sense. too much sense. “i’ll. . um — i can buy you another one.”
