Headcanon

Tona has been married before. However, after a year into the marriage, her spouse found out what her species was. Learning that she wasn’t human. Disgusted and judgmental, for the next two years, he was negative and abusive towards her. Both verbal (mostly) and physical at times.

This lead to Tona succumbing to drinking and falling into a deep depression, which would ruin her mentality forever. Her spouse would blame her for most situations, being passive-aggressive, and always played victim whenever she stood up for herself.

Tona didn’t want to divorce because her husband was very violent and nasty towards her, threatening her with death if she even tried to run. With the help of friends and officially getting away from her husband, she was abl to get a divorce. Cutting her husband out of her life and never having to see him again.

But all of these problems, the depression, the occasional drinking, all of that has Tona hating herself and not wanting to stop that. She no longer cares for herself (mentally) and normally shows that through how she expresses herself. When given compliments, she kindly accepts them, but never takes them to heart. She hates the feeling of being cared for because she is afraid of having the same situation with her spouse to happen again.

From the facility she grew up in, she was the "rough draft" of a biological weapon, hence why most of the things she had been taught so young in her life that she still remembers them.
