The Tutor by Daniel Hurst
✨ "A house full of secrets and a family on the brink—what could possibly go wrong?" ✨
📚 Spoiler-Free Section 📚
Alright, witches, gather 'round. If you’ve ever wondered what happens when a stunning Swedish tutor enters a suburban family’s picture-perfect life, The Tutor by Daniel Hurst spills all the tea—and then some. ☕
Meet Amy and Nick, a seemingly happy couple navigating life with their two children. When their struggling teen son, Michael, needs help preparing for his GCSEs, they decide to hire a tutor. Enter Petra: a gorgeous, young, blonde bombshell who’s more than just qualified to teach. From the moment she steps into their lives, cracks in their seemingly solid foundation begin to show.
On the surface, The Tutor offers a juicy setup full of tension, temptation, and domestic drama. You can feel the tension simmering, waiting to boil over, and it’s impossible not to cringe in anticipation of the chaos Petra's arrival will unleash.
Hurst’s writing builds the suspense slowly, with alternating points of view from Amy, Nick, and others in the family. While this adds depth and intrigue, the story feels like it’s teasing you with a climax that doesn’t quite live up to its potential. The pacing? A little uneven. The payoff? Well, let’s just say it left me side-eyeing the ending harder than a witch whose potion didn’t brew correctly.
✨ Things I Loved 🔮 The concept. A family slowly unraveling under the weight of secrets and lies? Sign me up! 📖 The dual POVs. Seeing the situation from Amy and Nick’s perspectives is like watching a car crash in slow motion—you have to keep looking. 💡 The setup. Hurst knows how to craft an engaging premise, and the early chapters pull you right in.
✨ Things That Left Me Cackling (Not in a Good Way) 👉 Nick. Oh, sweetie. This man is one bad decision away from being banished to the doghouse permanently. His obsession with Petra is so blatant, it’s almost comedic.
👉 The ending. After all the buildup, the twist felt... underwhelming. Like stirring a cauldron for hours only to discover you’ve brewed plain water.
🕷️ Spoiler Zone: You’ve Been Warned! 🕷️
Let’s spill the potion here: Nick. Freaking. Annoyed. Me. This man has been with Amy since they were 16, and yet he’s out here thirsting after Petra like a lovesick teenager. It’s not even subtle. The way he admits to himself that he can’t be alone with Petra because he “won’t be able to help himself”? Gag me with a broomstick. 😒 And don’t even get me started on how Amy notices Nick’s sudden spike in “enthusiasm” (read: lust) whenever Petra is around. Girl, just fire her at this point!
And let’s not forget the moment Amy does fire Petra after realizing Nick is clearly fantasizing about her—only for Nick to go behind Amy’s back and contact Petra anyway.
It’s no surprise he eventually sleeps with Petra, all while justifying it with the classic, “It’s just a one-time thing; Amy won’t find out.” Nick, honey, you’re not slick.
While the tension between the characters is juicy, the story itself drags in the middle. I kept waiting for the big, explosive twist that would blow my witch hat off. Instead, we get a reveal that, while mildly surprising, doesn’t feel earned or even realistic.
🖤 Witchy Final Verdict 🖤
The Tutor has all the ingredients for a captivating domestic thriller, but the execution didn’t quite cast the spell I was hoping for. The characters are messy in a way that will have you yelling at the pages, but the plot doesn’t fully deliver on its promise.
✨ Will I recommend it? Sure, if you’re in the mood for a quick, drama-filled read with questionable decision-making. ✨ Will I ever forgive Nick? Not in this lifetime.
⭐ 3/5 Stars ⭐

Romantic Fantasy & Fantasy Romance Book Recs
I recently made a post looking for the book/reader community on Tumblr and I found a lot of you! A couple people asked for book recommendations so here they are. All of these have varying levels of spice unless otherwise mentioned. I do recommend going into all of these blind and just see if you like them with zero expectations. I find it makes the reading experience better if you aren’t expecting something to be the greatest thing ever. Then you can only be surprised if you like it (or hopefully love it!) All of these are fantasy romance!!
Tagging some peeps who said they also love fantasy romance or seemed like they would like to know about some book recs: @imhilien @raven-reads87 @accidentalspaceexplorer @the-dust-jacket @melindacopp @taylorsversion213 @siruisreader @faerie-smut-merchant @gwelwynn @hitchhikerbooks @astrid162 @arewedancer99 @bookwyrmtaz @sourpatchkid99 @caffeinated-bibliophile @books-and-cookies @eaterofbooks @franticvampirereads @carissabroadbent - sorry if I forgot anyone or if you did not want to be tagged. Happy reading!
- Daughter of No Worlds, the first book in The War of Lost Hearts trilogy by Carissa Broadbent. You’ve got grumpy/sunshine, badass female protagonist, a “who did this to you?” scene, and so much more!! It’s dark but still has so much love and is just. So, so good. I will never shut up about how much I adore this criminally underrated series. There is absolutely nothing I disliked about this book. This is my favorite trilogy ever, up there tied with my favorite series ever. There’s no miscommunication and the characters handle hard situations maturely. It’s dark at times and deals with slavery, torture, and the injustices that entails, but it’s also empowering and full of hope and funny quips. The characters are lovable and complex. The pacing is the best pacing of any book. The romance is sweet yet still full of tension. The plot is incredible. I cannot recommend this book enough. It flawlessly balances the mundanity of living with the largeness of this universe and literal world ending stakes. She balances joy and grief, laughter and sorrow, trauma and healing. It’s a true feat when your heart aches with all of it at the same time. Each book is incredible. The character I was hesitant to love in the first book had me sobbing with the realism and heartache that I felt for her in the last book. If you listen to the audiobook, the narrators were perfectly cast as well. Tisaanah, the FMC has a language barrier and it’s done so incredibly well, especially when listening to the audiobook. It remains one of my favorite things about Daughter of No Worlds. This series is criminally underrated and I will never understand how it isn’t at the top of booktok. 12/10, move this up to the top of your TBR. Each book is just as good as the one before it. I’m obsessed with this series. This series is on KU!! It’s a completed trilogy!!
- The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L Jenson. And it’s included in your Audible Plus subscription if you have one. The tension, the conflict, the romance. I love a morally grey mc as much as the next gal, but Aren is the equivalent of a golden retriever and I would die for him and Laura. Enemy kingdoms. Marriage. A perfect Enemies to lovers!! Also on KU!! Completed duology, with a third book focusing on a different couple.
- The Witch Collector by Charissa Weaks. This is one of the best fantasy romances I’ve read! The FMC is a mute witch!! The plot, the tension, the characters, all of it is amazing. I fell in love with these characters and this world. Not to mention the ✨sexual tension✨ is some of the best I’ve ever read. It’s well earned too! Alexus and Raina have made my list of favorite ships. The sequel, City of Ruin, introduced a bunch of new characters and POVs (including the villains!) is a lot spicier, and just overall expands the world and the characters!! It’s action packed and made me look at the series in a new light! It does end on a major cliffhanger though, so be aware! Still read it. But it’s not tied up with a bow (yet!) I cannot express how excited I am for the third book and the direction this story is going. Highly, highly recommend! She also has signed copies on her Etsy!
- The Scribe by Elizabeth Hunter! This is a completed urban fantasy with romance series with 7 books. The first 3 books follow the same couple and can be read as a completed series - the other books focus on different couples and are just an extension. A race of beings ascended from angels are at war. Our main protagonist Ava is a human photojournalist who has heard voices in a nonexistent language her whole life and has always been told and believed she’s just crazy…but is she?? I love when we get a character thrown into a fantasy world who has no knowledge of it (like the reader!) it’s so fun. The romance is 🔥🔥🔥 and I love them. Ava is smart and savvy but not otherworldly strong like a lot of protagonists. She’s learning. And MAGIC! I love magic. I love the magic in this universe. The pacing is great and it’s a great balance of romance and plot. It’s a super interesting premise and I just think more people should read this series. I do not recommend the audiobook through - I hated the narrator. Book is great though! Also on KU!!
- I’ve found that whichever SJM series you start with is your favorite but Throne of Glass is next level. It was her first series and she spent half of her life writing it. You can see some of the groundwork for ACOTAR in it. But where ACOTAR is about the romance, ToG is about the plot. The romances are secondary to the plot. But for ACOTAR, the plot is secondary to the relationships and romance. ToG is so expertly planned out and it’s a slow burn into fantasy. It’s my number 1, favorite series. It’s definitely more YA but grows into what I would consider more New Adult towards the end of the series. Do not go into this series expecting spice. There is romance, but there are not any spicy scenes until the later books. The journey you go on with Celaena from Assassin’s Blade to Kingdom of Ash is unparalleled. It feels so special and epic. BUT I will say I went into the series completely blind with no expectations. So I suggest doing the same. And the first few books might seem slow. But KEEP GOING it’s worth it, I swear. And start with the prequel Assassin’s Blade!! It’s broken up into interconnected short novellas for the prequel only. The series has a more full circle feeling when you start with the prequel, and you don’t know things that you might otherwise know if you read Throne of Glass first. Starting with the prequel also made me love Celaena more. If you are just starting fantasy, start with Throne of Glass because it is a slow burn into fantasy. This is a completed series
- The Song of the Marked by S.M. Gaither. I was told this book would cure my Throne of Glass hangover. I’d agree! It also gives me major From Blood and Ash vibes, but with better characters. It’s got a great magic system, fun friendship dynamics and banter, a slow burn enemies to lovers, and some good ol’ fashion mystery surrounding the protagonist. I’m really enjoying it so far and if you like fantasy, I highly recommend!!
- Hollow Heathens (Tales of Weeping Hollow) by Nicole Fiorina - it’s like if Halloweentown met Storybrooke from Once Upon a Time, and had a child. It’s a gothic romance and is just so different from everything I’ve read. Also on KU!! This is a standalone.
- The North Wind by Alexandria Warwick. It’s a fun enemies to lovers Beauty and the Beast and Hades and Persephone retelling. Mix elements of those stories together and you have The North Wind. Also on KU!! Can be read as a stand-alone. The next book, which isn’t out yet, focuses on a different couple.
- An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. You’ve got a spy posing as a slave to save her brother. A trained assassin brought up in a merciless, brutal school where he wants to escape. There’s a love triangle of sorts, which I usually hate but I didn’t mind it in this! It’s action packed and has made me love YA again. Dark, with themes of generational trauma, the importance of storytelling, the ✨power of love✨, breaking generational cycles, mercy, and tragedy of war. Lots of character growth for everyone!! Inspired by the gladiator times in the Roman Empire. Young Adult but very violent. No spice, all fade to black.
- The Serpent and The Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent!! I had high expectations for this book. Carissa’s other series, The War of Lost Hearts, is my favorite series ever. And now with one book out so far, Crown of Nyaxia is making that list too. The world building. The characters. The complexity and emotions and just everything about it. It’s a masterpiece. I love the relationships!! And the last quarter of the book had me on an emotional rollercoaster through the end. I wanted to reread this book the moment I finished it. If a dark, gritty, high stakes fantasy romance with Hunger Games meets vampires and swoon worthy, epic romance (and some spice!!) sounds like your thing, drop everything else your reading and start this. This is the first book in a series and was just released. Carissa is my favorite author and one thing that she does really well is write strong, healthy relationships. Her characters don’t fall into lust and then in love - it’s a buildup of respect, trust, friendship, and then love. (And 🌶️🌶️ of course, but the relationships are more than that.) Raihn is my new #1 book boyfriend!!
- The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen is a new comfort read for me. but if you want a super fun, quirky, romance with You’ve Got Mail vibes set in a fantasy universe that also has zombie like creatures, this is it. I know that sounds weird af, but it is so cute and I can’t stop smiling as I read it!! It’s a new favorite and is just SO CUTE! And I cried!!
- A Deal With the Elf King by Elise Kova! This is a standalone, enemies to lovers, arranged marriage fantasy romance!! I love all the characters in this, especially the growth of the MMC! The FMC feels a lot of responsibility to take care of everyone around her and she doesn’t allow others to disrespect her (especially the MMC!) There are lots of swoon worthy lines that had me smiling and blushing and some spice! Highly recommend!!
- The High Mountain Court by A.K. Mulford. It has witches, fae, a fun magic system, mates, natural LGBTQIA+ and POC representation, spicy, enemies to lovers, touch her and die (and the opposite touch him and die!), a truly wonderful and swoon worthy romance, and is just a great NA fantasy romance! Each book focuses on a different couple and follows a cohesive storyline!
- Between Wrath and Mercy by Jess Wisecup. You’ve got a mom hellbent on getting her kidnapped teenage daughter back. She needs the help of the Crown Prince - her first love - to do it. A spicy fantasy romance that is both character driven and plot driven. It’s so refreshing to read “older” (ie not 16 - 25 years old) characters in a fantasy romance!! The tension is high and the grief and love that intermingle to form the emotional backbone of these characters is so poignant and beautifully done. It’s also nice to see a mom who has an identity outside of being a mom! But she’s still a great mom! It was so refreshing to read and the second book is even better than the first! Very dark and yet also sweet and romantic and intense.
- The Cruel Prince by Holly Black! Also known as The Folk of the Air trilogy. If you’re looking for a spicy fantasy series, this isn’t it. There’s no spice. But if you’re looking for an AMAZING YA fantasy villain arc with enemies to lovers, fantastic storytelling, plot twists, and just an overall faerie adventure, read this series. I was hesitant to read it because of its YA rating/audience. But it’s easily one of my favorite series of all time! I love the characters, the plot, the arc, and the writing style! I read each book in less than two days. Highly, highly recommend. I also read them on audiobook and the narration is fantastic!

Welcome to the Thanatology Anthology, Danny Phantom AU/Rewrite FAQ THREAD--
With me, your host, theplanetprince.
SO, I suppose the first question should be--
Q: What is the Thanatology Anthology?
A: The Thanatology Anthology is a series of fics/art made by me, theplanetprince, based around the 2004 nickelodeon superhero Paranormal SciFi cartoon Danny Phantom.
Simply put it's the name for how I would reboot the show. Including designs of certain characters, characterization, aspects of world-building, redos of moments in the show, etc. Truthfully, told I'm unsure what label to put my series of fixes and nitpicks under-- I've heard some people call it an outright rewrite/reboot of the continuity which I'm more willing to agree with.
Although I am borrowing a lot of aspects from certain aus, ecto-hunger, the core stuff, though they don't really bare a lot of resemblance to the original material or I simply can't find sources to double check if I'm getting all the details right. There are a lot of differences from the canon that I'm incorporating that some people might want to borrow and use for their own writing like for example Danielle (AKA Ellie) being Danny's future daughter rather than a clone. I guess I use the au label as well, in case people like my ideas enough to use.
I'm probably making it sound a bit more complicated than it actually is, but the idea is that I'm rewriting the show from the perspective of an older fan influenced by horror movies who wants to give the characters a bit more nuance and life.
Q: Okay, but what does 'Thanatology Anthology' mean though?
A: Ah, Thanatology is a word that comes from Thanatos IE the greek spirit of Death. Thanatology means the Study of Death. I thought I was clever. A few other work-shopped titles were "In the midst of our lives we die." "Pine box parables" "Six Feet Shallow" and "Death via Misadventure"
Q: When does this rewrite take place?
A: It can really be whenever you want it to be, but I've always shot for the late 90s, or early 2000s.
Q: Do I have to read these in order?
A: I mean, I'm not writing it in order! I'm writing the story as it comes to me. One piece might take place in the character's Freshman year and the very next I release might be their Junior year. I've done my best so far to cobble together some kind of order as well as catagerize stories via the series function on AO3 by the character arcs. Like for example Wes's arc is under the series label "That Messed up Thing That Happened To Wes When He Was A Kid." Each story in that series is ordered by every appearance of Wes that pertains to his character arc. You don't have to read these stories in order if you don't want to! I'll try to put enough context in each piece to make it approachable.
First Year (Freshman):
Amity Park Anomalies
Cherry Flavored
Second Year (Sophmore):
Pick Your Poison
Schrodinger’s Adolescent
Q: You said you were making changes to the canon, what kind of changes are there going to be? What are you keeping? What are you mixing around?
A: For the most part the concept is still the same, Half-Dead teen antics. ✨Now gayer✨
I'm mostly removing world-building concepts that no longer mesh with how I think the story will flow. I'm mostly trying to rework the appearances of the Medieval Ghosts Eudora and Aragorn. That is strictly a personal preference of mine, I just don't find high fantasy concepts that interesting-- and they're kind of confusing when you open them up in a more SciFi setting like Amity Park. It feels more realistic for aliens to mesh into the setting than medieval ghosts/dragons. I probably won't be including the likes of Pariah Dark either. However, I do have plans for the Fright Knight that I hope people will find interesting. The furthest back in time in setting I'll go is probably to the witch trial days because I find that setting is not only easier to write for, for my skill set, I just find folksy/witch horror oodles more fascinating. Also with the villain set, I wanted to incorporate more Guys in White lore and more original ghost hunters. Making the humans in Amity Park just as threatening as the ghost threats. I'm putting more of an emphasis on technology, ghost weapons, and characters versus high fantasy elements.
Q: With characterization, how do you plan to change that?
A: Truthfully, I don't plan on changing much except fulfilling character arcs to iron out the main character's flaws from the original run of the show. It never felt like they grew or evolved much beyond simplistic stereotypes. I plan on getting into the heads of our teenage protagonists to really bring out their best and worst aspects so they can grow. Not to mention conclude Valerie Gray's arc from the original run-- as well, as giving the fan-created character Wes Weston a villain arc in tandem.
Q: What Ships are endgame?
A: TeddyGhost. I wish I could be more blunt about it (LMAO)
but Teddyghost or some poly quartet of the Main Trio + Dash. This started with Schrodinger's adolescent a Danny/Dash fic, and I would like to keep it that way. But I promise not every fic in this series will be centered around a romantic pairing. Some of them will just be good, clean, bad one liners and fights. Other ships that will probably get some spotlight are VeggieBurger (Sam/Tucker) and PunkPoet (Ember/Ghostwriter). I'm not too sure what the official name decided on Val/Wes is but DeceasedDesist is my personal label for it haha.
Q: I want to help/I want chapters and releases to come out faster-- Where can I find more stuff?
A: I'll be real with you, I am just one person and I am just making it up as I go along! But if you would like to help contribute, maybe consider checking out the stories I do have on my AO3, Under the Thanatology Anthology Series. What really helps motivate any author is comments and asks. Share my work! I don't mind. But as long as there's still work to be done I'll be here doing it.

✨kay’s ultimate pedro ranking✨
ok ok ok ok @mandosmistress did this a while back (like a few days lmao what is time) and tagged me and I HAVE BEEN T H I N K I N G let me tell you.
so without further ado, under the cut is my (not so definitive) pedro pascal character ranking…..! (based mainly on attraction/how much I enjoy writing them)
FRANKIE MORALES. frankie. frankie frankie frankie. my man. sunshine of my life (haha see what I did there). there is just something about this character that really crawled into my chest, wrapped himself around my heart and said ”hi I live here now” and I’m cool with it. handsome in that rugged way, a little bit damaged, and good with his hands? done. hook, line, and sinker.
DIN DJARIN. oh the sweet soft-spoken tin can space man. in all honesty, him and Frankie fight for the top spot on a daily basis and sometimes the beskar-covered bounty hunter wins, and he truly was my pedro gateway drug so he’s gotta be high on my list.
JAVIER PEÑA. ohhhhhh mama I love me some Javi. (do I mainly blame my gargantuan crush on @the-ginger-hedge-witch and her brilliant Crush series YES AS A MATTER OF FACT I DO) something about those tight fuckin’ jeans and the stache and the aviators like yep honey take me I’m yours
JAVIER GUTIERREZ. sunshine baby angel too good for this world I just wanna give him a little kiss and carry him around in my pocket and make sure no harm every comes to him (no I haven’t written anything for him yet but I been thinkin’ thots okay)
DIETER BRAVO. ✨the trash man✨ another one I just wanna carry around in my pocket, also the hair does things for me (same with Javi G) like just let me run my fingers through it and I’ll die a happy gal. questionable life choices maybe, but we’ve all been there, right?
OBERYN MARTELL. oh my HEART. *cue adele* we could have had it AAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL. I would say spoilers but it was legitimately 8 years ago but he was so CLOSE and then so SQUISHED. tbh oberyn is the most intimidating to me to even think of writing but maybe someday….
MARCUS PIKE. I do really like Marcus. cheesy as hell? check. bit overboard sometimes? double check. BUT I really like the history of the character we got in limited scenes AND I have a fic idea for him I’ve been sitting on FOREVER and I def have to use it soon!
PERO TOVAR. okay I love me a grungy fantasy man okay like that’s my bread and butter. add in the grouchiness and the obvious way to his heart through his stomach? it’s go time, baby, I got plans for him too!
JACK DANIELS. oh darlin’, he hits the middle of my list for the sole reason that pedro and that whip awoken something in me that hasn’t shut up since I watched that movie and if you don’t think I’ve watched that clip where he pushes his jacket back and it’s a crystal-clear shot of his ass you are WRONG
EZRA PROSPECT. fits the grungy, violent thing pedro seems to work with half the time, and honestly, the linguistics of this man make my head spin (the main reason I haven’t written much for him because it’s a looooot of effort to try and think up dialogue for him!!!) BUT I do love that little moon-touched spot and the scar and the smile and just ugh yum
THE THIEF. full disclosure: I haven’t read a lot of fics about the thief (if anyone has recs let me at ‘em) buuuuuut I really like the whole vibe he has and the outfit? spectacular.
MARCUS MORENO. the glasses definitely do it for me but idk something about him I just…meh. have definitely read some fab fics about daddy moreno (maybe I’ll revisit him at some point). still hot, still delicious, just not my number one fav.
MAX PHILLIPS. maybe not the biggest asshole pedro’s played but definitely up there? I sat through the movie just for him, honestly the scene of him on the couch made it worth it and the smarminess is something else, but idk if I could ever write him! (kudos to all that do!)
DAVE YORK. ok ok ok ok OKAYYYYYYY. listen. he’s the baddie (and like a really bad baddie) so I gotta put him low on my list as far as attraction goes (plus I have mixed emotions about P without facial hair but I digress…) BUT I do have ideas. they are on the horizon. keep your eyes OPEN.
MAX LORD. I haven’t even watched wonder woman 1984 and I know he needs to be down here. maybe I’ll get some form of intoxicated this weekend and power through it, just for shits and giggles!
well KUDOS if you made it this far, this was actually so fun to do!
tagging a few pals just because, no pressure 😇
@prolix-yuy @pedropascalsx @mandoblowmybackout @mindidjarin @allfoolsinluv @iamskyereads and obvi anyone else who wants to play!!!

This weekend got away from me, so it’s a day late but here’s this weeks round up!!
If you read any of the stories on this list, please make sure to show love to the authors by liking and reblogging their content!
A reminder to everyone that my blog houses 21+ content. This post isn’t any different. I’m not adding in the specific tags or warnings for each rec here but know that they can house adult content as well.
✨ If you are under 21, please DNI.✨
1. Drunk Text by @kteague
Pairing: Frankie “Catfish” Morales x Fem!Reader
This was so lovely and so sweet and fluffy that I read it thrice. The adoration that Frankie has and the picture of him waking up the next morning? Ugh all of it was the best. Plus Santi out here baiting Frankie out but in the best way.
2. This Roommates Drabble by @forever-rogue
Pairing: Frankie “Catfish” Morales x Fem!Reader
Listen, having someone else put cream/sunscreen on you is a for sure way to secure kisses! I loved the bashful Benny and the light teasing he gave Frankie afterwards. The mutual pining and both hiding their attraction to each other, chef’s kiss!
3. Lavenders Blue by @writeforfandoms
Pairing: Javi G x Fem!Reader
HELLO! I DID NOT KNOW I NEEDED TO READ A CINDERLLA AU THIS WEEK. Also, Lucia, you sly dog, you. Setting everything up and then following through on keeping them together. Lucia was the perfect fairy godmother. Javi being exceptionally sweet and adoring. Using learned tactics to find his way to her then explaining to her how he would never actually do anything criminal was so adorable. Ugh, I loved it.
4. venus, planet of love by @peterthepark
Pairing: Steven Grant x Fem!Reader
Wow, just wow. This was perfect. The symbolism. This is a work of art on it’s own, nevermind how utterly perfect Steven and the reader are. Sneaking into a museum, the pining, Marc being pushy and Khonshu being his dry self. Ugh I loved this. Truly, I did.
5. Whiskey’s Sugar by @absurdthirst
Pairing: Agent Whiskey/Jack Daniels x Fem!Reader
JESUS THIS ONE GOT ME IN THE FUCKING FEELS. I KNEW HOW IT WOULD END BUT I DIDN’T WANT TO KNOW, YOU KNOW? This was a rollercoaster of all emotions and even though I cried, I’m still happy I got to read it. Whiskey deserves the world, and so does his sugar. This was heartbreakingly beautiful.
6. why don’t you by @queenofthefaceless
Pairing: Javier Peña x Fem!Reader
It’s sundress season y’all and this was a good way to christen the season. That little held tilt in the gif was all I kept picturing throughout this whole fic. It really set the tone and Javi being absolutely feral by the end? YES PLEASE!!!! Back alley car sex is now on my bucket list hahahaha
7. Sansana by @foxilayde
Pairing: Poe Dameron x Fem!Reader
I don’t think I’ve ever needed anything more! This was amazing! The chemistry between Lex and Poe?!??? Please, it’s too good. TOO GOOD! The absolute denial that Lex is in? Even more perfect. I love how Poe is rolling with it without complaint but uses it to his advantage. He knows what the life is about and he isn’t trying to exploit anything. His little deal at the end though? And Lex’s conditions. Amazing!! Staying true to both their characters while also having fun, gawd this was amazing!!!
8. Stranger at My Gate by @leslie-lyman
Pairing: Pero Tovar x Fem!Reader
This was a classic! First and foremost, Aunt Moira, I need more of her. Always. What cheeky witch she was. The beautiful world building within this is amazing. You captured each of their gifts and explained them amazingly. Also those however many hours where they can’t understand each other????? THE PINING THE ATTRACTION THE SPARKS!!! When he catches her before she falls???? Babes, I could read this story 8000 times and never tire from it. Whew, this was amazing!
9. An Impractical Time by @clydesducktape
Pairing: Pero Tovar x Fem!Reader
A HARRY POTTER AU???? Babes, you’re after my heart here with this one. Two of my favourite things put together??? Ahhhhhhhhh also ngl I literally howled with laughter at the reader noting how bad he smelled. I loved the realism in that, because of course he was grimy and sweaty and hadn’t bathed in however long it was. It was a sign of the times and I loved the way you put it in here. Also Pero being overly concerned with his reputation through the ages and your foreshadowing of why there isn’t much more written about him! I loved all of it! I love how she’s honest and upfront with him but friendly and approachable. OH AND THAT SCENE WHERE HE TRIES TO CAST A SPELL FOR HER AND SHE GUIDES HIS HAND THROUGH THE MOVEMENTS!!!!! Wheeeewwwww!!!!

In this series we take a look at the romantic relationships Dr. Strange has had in the past. These will be all NON-CANON relationships. I’ll be providing an in-depth analysis of both characters, but mostly an emphasis on where it left Dr. Strange in the end.
This week we’ll be looking at the kind of life Dr. Voodoo and Dr. Strange had together.
✨
Sections will be broken up into headers to help with the reading process.
Current word count: ~1,800
[Further reading: We briefly got to talk about their relationship in this post here where I described Dr. Voodoo’s impact on Dr. Strange’s gender experience]
✨
Timeline
I think it’s important to establish a timeline now for when certain relationships/meetings took place on this blog.
According to this blog’s canon, this relationship would have taken place during Stephen’s time with Clea. So Clea would be Dr. Strange’s current apprentice, they would also be pretty romantically involved but not in a place where they would have referred to each other as marriage partners (yet).
Before they met
Doctor Voodoo was a Haitin immigrant and a New Orleans resident. After taking the mantle of houngan (a voodoo priest who practices with white magic) from his deceased brother Daniel, he set up shop in America. He also happens to share his body with his brother’s spirit. Jericho Drumm was super new to serving as a superhero in America, but he was making his way up there as he helped the people in his neighborhood. Jericho came a long way from growing up in a magical environment he didn’t believe in, but now, voodoo was his saving grace.
Doctor Strange has adjusted to his life as a sorcerer. He has Clea as his current lover and apprentice and they are getting along just fine together.
How they met
After the events of Doctor Strange (1974) #48, where Jericho and Stephen had their first team-up, Stephen wanted to learn more about voodooism. Fortunately, Jericho left his contact information before he left.
After receiving Stephen’s aid from before, Jericho too wanted to learn more about the magic they use in America. He had grown up in a primarily voodoo-centric magic community, and now that he is a full-time professional, it would be smart to learn about the kinds of magic his colleagues are using. Also, Stephen seemed pretty good at what he does, perhaps he could serve as some sort of teacher as well. And that’s exactly what Stephen did when he came knocking on Jericho’s door.
They traded all sorts of information with each other. Stephen would learn a little about voodoo, Jericho would learn a little about the mystic arts, and so on. They even had several team-up events later on. Working together allowed them to have a stronger sense of respect for the other. Jericho also had the pleasure to work alongside Stephen’s wife, Clea (once they got married), and some Avengers like the Scarlet Witch.
Eventually, Clea left Stephen to go and fight her uncle in the Dark Dimension. When she defeated him and became ruler, Clea left Stephen behind on Earth. There were a lot of issues going on in their relationship that made Clea want to end their partnership for good. Some of those issues weren’t made clear to Jericho, but the important thing for him to know later on was that Stephen was finally single.
Leading up to Stephen’s separation from Clea, Stephen and Clea were thinking about adding a third partner to their relationship, and unbeknownst to Clea, that person was going to be Jericho! Stephen had really begun to appreciate how far Jericho had grown as a sorcerer. He was also intelligent, and a good person to work with overall. It also helped that Jericho was extremely attractive. Unfortunately, Stephen didn’t get to clue either Jericho or Clea in on his feelings. When Clea left, Stephen was alone. For a long time Stephen went without pursuing any further romantic interests. He also threw himself into his work, but in a way where he would also ignore his other students like the Scarlet Witch.
So it begins
Jericho grew worried for his friend after discovering, from the grapevine, that Clea left Stephen. He reached out, as a friend, to see if Stephen was doing alright, and of course Stephen lied.
Eventually, Stephen went back to going outside and openly working with other heroes. His heart was open and he was longing for romantic companionship. When Jericho asked the sorcerer to come on a mission with him, he obliged. Seeing Jericho in the flesh, after all this time, brought a new sense of passion back to Stephen. All during their mission, Stephen openly flirted with Jericho, throwing hints at him and surprisingly, Jericho was fine with all this. They went on a couple more meetings acting like this until Jericho made the first move and finally asked Stephen out on an actual date. Of course Stephen said yes. Stephen and Jericho began to openly date, with much support from Stephen’s family. Everyone was happy to see Stephen get out of the house and be happy.
With them officially dating, Stephen and Jericho instantly fell in love. Though Stephen never told him about the plans he wanted to make between him and Clea. Since Clea was out of the picture, none of that mattered anymore.
Issues with Gender Identity/Sexuality
Stephen was one of the first men Jericho fell in love with. Jericho had never been openly gay before, but falling in love with Stephen gave him a new identity. He took pride in that label and wanted Stephen to do the same. While Stephen no longer wanted to medically transition to become a woman, he was still exploring other forms of gender expression, sometimes even leaning toward femininity.
Though they both belonged to the transgender community, Stephen’s ideal gender identity did not align with Jericho’s tastes. At first, Jericho was purley attracted to the ‘ideal masculinity’ Stephen produced when they first met. While Jericho respected women, and knew they could also be strong, maleness to him also demanded strength, bravery and power, which Stephen executed greatly. Jericho’s ideas were also internalized into him too. Jericho’s transition story takes him back all the way to when he was a child.
Back in Haiti, Jericho was the female twin to his brother’s male twin. He and his brother grew up in a predominantly male community and so they had a lot of male friends growing up. Jericho was inspired by all the men in his life and wanted to be like them. He saw their sense of strength and masculinity and internalized that into his own sense of what a man really is. Eventually those feelings made him discover that he was meant to be a man, and transitioned during his time in America. I’d like to think he took a gap year before enrolling in school to get that done. He would have wanted to start as a fresh face before entering society as a man.
When Stephen first grew comfortable enough with Jericho to share that he was thinking about his new gender identity, Jericho did not like it. He was of course, always supportive and loving to Stephen, and he did not outright tell Stephen to not go ahead and continue discovering himself. In fact, he kept these feelings to himself, and never did tell Stephen how he really felt. He only sightly suggested that Stephen “love himself for who he already was” which was ironic considering the kinds of changes transgender men like Jericho have to go through.
Daniel saw that his brother was having a hard time dealing with his partner. So it was he who persuaded his brother to love Stephen despite Stephen’s journey into gender-fluidness and femininity. Daniel has a great respect for voodooism and voodoo has lots of ties to LGBT identities because of their deities. He had to remind Jericho of this fact. After listening to what his brother had to say, Jericho did have a new found respect for Stephen.
After having a change of heart, Jericho took Stephen in one day and told him that he was a transgender man. One that had undergone full reassignment surgery years ago before he came to America. Admitting this truth made them closer. Stephen was proud to be in a relationship with another transgender man (the other being Quentin Beck). Knowing this about Jericho, Stephen would use his partner’s experience to learn more about transitioning and gender identity/expression.
Also, since he gained Jericho’s newfound support, he also asked Jericho to refer to him as a woman and use she/her pronouns. A process Stephen asked Tony Stark to go through when they were dating.
Taking a Break
Despite the initial happiness this couple had in their first few months, there were still some issues. And these were issues outside of the previous gender related ones. Stephen has a lot of issues regarding his mental condition as well. Depression, among other things. These can be handled with medicine and spiritual practices, but they don’t always work.
As his partner, Jericho couldn’t ignore it, as I’m sure Clea couldn’t either. Everyone handles their partner’s mental illnesses differently, and as a former psychologist, Jericho really thought he could hold on for much longer. But he couldn't. Stephen just seemed to get worse and worse after Clea’s departure. It was as if she took a part of him that she never returned. Even though Jericho was able to bring a newfound love to Stephen’s life, it didn’t seem like it was helping. And love was supposed to be the most powerful form of magic and medicine!
As Stephen’s condition grew worse, the two slowly started to drift apart. Stephen’s way of dealing with his issues is putting himself into more work, and that’s really why they started to see less of each other.
One day, Stephen reminded himself he had a partner and reached out to Jericho one last time. He wanted to make one more push to make this work, so on their last date, he asked Jericho if they wanted to make things “official.” This suggestion offended Jericho because he thought Stephen would talk about something more pressing, like ignoring him for weeks, but that wasn’t the case. Jericho immediately refused the offer, which directly struck Stephen’s heart. Right then and there Jericho suggested they take a break from one another.
No other feelings were expressed beyond that. Stephen grew numb from the state of shock and both said their goodbyes after that.
Where are they now?
Jericho and Stephen have still not reconciled their past feelings. They still love each other very much, in fact, since working together in Strange Academy, Jericho’s love has rebloomed! But he’s still forcing himself to not get too heavily involved with Stephen until Stephen heals from the hurt he’s caused himself. Jericho pretty much refuses to be in a relationship with someone that doesn’t even love himself, which at one point, Stephen admitted to, which angered Jericho.
Stephen never stopped loving Jericho either. Jericho is an amazing sorcerer, and he was even recognized by Clea too. Since the events of Damnation, there was going to be no hope between Stephen and Clea. So that’s why Stephen’s been spending more and more time at Strange Academy with Jericho. As an old love, Stephen still yearns for Jericho’s attention. As you may have seen from older posts, they’re comfortable enough with each other to be intimate in public. They can kiss and flirt, but it won’t ever go beyond that. Jericho also kept a vow of abstinence with Stephen, even when they were officially dating. Maybe one day, in the future, if they ever get married, things could change. And hopefully by then, Stephen will love himself and love life and be prepared to have that kind of relationship.
As usual if there is anything that was unclear in this analysis that you would like me to expand upon I can edit this post or I can create a separate one if you send in an ask. Asks of course, are recommended for this type of thing. My DMs are also open for further questions.

Personal Conflicts/Trials (pt. 1)
Angel - She suffers from the knowledge that she is immortal and cannot keep the same relationships that she wishes for forever. She may see them again, but she has the curse of being stuck on Earth for eternity until God makes a change to bring her home.
Ashton - Family abandonment. Emotional abuse and neglect from a careless mother and siblings. She was the only daughter of her family and the only one who isn’t human.
Avis - Family loss (entire species was wiped out) and the struggle of taking care of a small human that she discovered. She has the maternal instinct to protect Juno as much as she can, but knows that she will eventually reach adulthood and leave her, which scares Avis.
Boo - Memory loss. Personal identity has been lost from her curse a few years ago. She doesn’t know who she is exactly, but knows that she is alive and exists as a person.
Braelynn - Family loss (entire family was killed). She now lives on her own and roams the streets of New York. She is one who hates change and refuses to adapt to a human lifestyle.
Charlotte - Suffers from many physical ailments, such as loss of limbs (during protest after WW2) and muteness. She has gone through many trials of learning new things, such as sign language, English, walking, eating, thinking, speaking, etc.
Chu-mana - Because of her goddess line, she is subject to receiving a lot of popular attention. She is stuck with having to be one who receives much of it and dislikes it. She wishes to change and become human, but doesn’t know how and has to live like one to fit in.
Dakota - Judgement from the people around her. Her family is made of skinwalkers and there have been many tales or rumors about them. Many of which apply to her and make her seem like a bad or evil human being. In which case, she isn’t.
Danielle - The struggle of living alone. She has rebelled against her parents and struggles with having a lot of pride in herself. She thinks more of herself than other people and comes off as selfish (and is selfish in many cases).
Dhikshita (Dee) - The stress of being one of the few lasting friends to Avis. Dee is under constant self-inflicted stress, putting others burdens onto her shoulders and doing her best to help them out in anyway she can. But can also come off as blunt because she is tired with life and wishes to disappear. But she’s continuing anyway.

> Jezebel’s favorite food used to be just sweets. Any sort of candy or baked dessert was an absolute delight to eat. She only stuck to eating sweets all the time, but soon learned how to bake them too.
> Vivian is very fragile despite being a Changeling. She still isn’t used to doing human things or feeling the same emotions, but even with being of a powerful species, she is overall very fragile and very easily frightened by the smallest of things.
> Harriet’s is half German. She gets it from her (real) dad’s side of the family.
> Angel has a Valkyrie form that she had first used during the War in Heaven. Much of her time spent during that long period was as a Valkyrie and fighting the ones leading the rebellion, becoming one of the few angels who made it through the war without sustaining fatal injuries to their spirit.
> With Naomi’s enhanced mechanical brain, she has the ability to learn any language given to her in a matter of hours. Possibly minutes if she had heard bits of phrases from said language beforehand.

> Teramatr has a third eye. She has the ability to rid of this extra part of needed but keeps it when residing in her hidden cottage. On top of this, she has the ability to inflict any monstrous curse or extra limbs on humans and monsters. Lower-ranked deities also fall into this category.
> Similar to the Huntress from Dead by Daylight, Danielle has a crafted Fawn mask that covers her entire face. She also keeps a number of other crafted masks similarly made, but her Fawn mask is the most significant. It keeps the same large cracked scar on her left eye that she has, though it doesn’t affect the mask’s physical form.
