VERSE ONE / MAIN VERSE : meet booster gold, the greatest superhero you've never heard of! after coming back from the 25th century and spending years trying to make a name for himself as a popular superhero and failing, booster is enlisted by one rip hunter to protect the timeline & multiverse from an array of threats. a responsibility some would question giving to booster given his reputation as a "lightweight." and second rate hero, only in it for his own gain, however this line of thinking only helps for booster to protect the timeline and do his job properly, as not only can he not tell anyone what he does, but who would believe him anyway?

VERSE TWO / JLI : fresh from a fantastical time four hundred years in the future after fucking up his own life, michael jon carter, also known as booster gold is the tall, blonde sell-out belonging to justice league international. the public love him while his co-workers and peers largely only see him as a joke but booster thinks he's living his best life, though sometimes it'd be nice if other superheroes took him a little bit more seriously.. or at least if skeets could be less sarcastic.

VERSE THREE / BAD BOOS : michael's never really had the easiest hand in life, his father left when he was young to persue his one true love of gambling while leaving his wife and children behind to fend for themselves. as such, money was always a struggle despite how much michael's mother worked. then, suddenly she grew sick and michael and his sister were informed that she could be saved, if they had the money for the treatment and of course, neither of them did. but michael was not going to let that stop him. he started out rigging his own games, throwing them in a bid to make enough money to pay for his mother's treatment. then, then things escalated. he went from throwing games to holding money, to running deliveries then eventually to being involved in thefts and it wasn't all to help his poor, sick mother anymore who had rejected him and any further help from him once she found out about his secret. during a job that took him to a museum in metropolis that'd went wrong, michael had to think of a way to escape capture by the police and think of it fast! fortunately he'd found himself in just the right place and right time to find a time sphere that could take him not only somewhere else, but somewhen and after stealing the security robot that'd been following him around, michael did just that, landing in the late 20th century.

VERSE FOUR / VAMPIRES : uh-oh! something has went horribly wrong! the planet has suddenly, almost overnight been overrun with a vampire plague which has shown no discrimination in taking heroes, villains and regular people. the undead army grows by the day, booster is quickly running out of friends to rely on as he tries and scrambles in the how of fixing this whole mess! he was only gone for an hour!

It's also enlighten me that French call junior high school as college since as far as I know college means university and it's become a major confusion when I read ML fanfiction before I know ML is set in Paris. @_@

Epilogue Challenge - After The Epilogue

I realize I’m skipping two prompts but I touched on coexistence in my post regarding Digimon and I don’t know what to say about adulthood that @takerusfedora​ hadn’t already said in her wonderful meta post about Kizuna. Also I’m really trying to focus on positive things right now and if I start philosophizing about adulthood and coexistence I’m going to straight up get sad and no one wants that. So I’m going to tackle this one now.

What happens after the epilogue? Oh, you know. Chosen grow older, kids grow older, Digimon grow older. Human-Digimon relations continue to evolve, mostly in good directions (Taichi is doing his very best!). Yamato and Gabumon command the first space mission where every astronaut is a human and their partner Digimon. Daisuke’s chain finally opens a store back in Japan to rave reviews. Mimi does voice acting for a successful Japanese animated film, and subsequently also voices the same character in the English dub. Miyako finishes her PhD and uses it mostly to win silly disputes with her husband (”well I have a PhD and you don’t so I win by default” “okay sweetie, you win, I’ll make pad thai instead of spaghetti bolognese for dinner”). Life goes on.

In addition, my headcanon is that two new children join the big happy family!

Kylie Mimi Barton (カイリー・ミ ミ ) - Born 2028, Kylie is Mimi and Michael’s miracle baby. They didn’t think they could conceive naturally (they used in-vitro fertilization to have Kevin), and believed having just one wonderful child is a blessing in itself, but nature has a funny way of proving people wrong sometimes. Her parents and brother love her to bits and pieces and indulge her a lot. Kyle is bubbly, sassy, and always wants to help everyone. She is just as enamored by unicorns and princess dresses as she is with newts and Numemon. Her Digimon is a female Koromon named Belle.

Hida Hiroo (浩夫) - Born 2030, the very youngest of the Chosen’s children. While Tomoyo requested a baby sibling every year since her fourth birthday, Iori and his wife wanted to make sure they had enough time and money to give Tomoyo the happy life she deserved first. In 2030, both of them settle into their jobs and routine, and decide to add another member to the family. Hiroo is named after both Iori’s father and Oikawa Yukio, and has a curiosity and drive to match both men. He has a gentle soul and is very sensitive to the plights of others. His Digimon is a male Cupimon named Shiro. Fun fact - he starts wearing glasses in the third grade.

I’ve been sitting on a few drafts of “Every Robotech/Macross Reference in VLD” meta post for awhile now, and S7 really gave up the goods (end of S6 too…). The references are many, and what follows just barely scratches the surface, but are the most relevant to that mysterious blond officer. I’ve posted about a few of them in the past too.

The blond officer in E1S1 is an Easter Egg of Roy Fokker from Robotech.

Roy Fokker is the ace pilot and leader of the Skull Squadron. He is the mentor and big brother character to the main protagonist, Rick Hunter (Hikaru Ichijo). In other words—She/ith aside—Roy is to Rick as Shiro is to Keith. Seriously.

Roy is one of my all-time favorite anime characters, and his relationship with Claudia (my actual favorite character from Robotech) was the first time that I ever saw an interracial romance in a cartoon (e.g. 1985). That’s a big deal. Macross (and thus Robotech) was ahead of its time. Serious feels for these two.

Roy tragically dies during just after a big battle (in which he was mortally wounded) against the Zentraedi, and Rick goes on to lead the Skull Squadron. I am 100% convinced that in the original draft for VLD, the decision to introduce Shiro as a mentor and big brother character to Keith in addition to the original plans to have Shiro die at the end of S2 were informed by Roy’s death in Farewell Big Brother.

Worth noting, that the Zentraedi are the blue-to-gray-to-purple war-like aliens who come to Earth to find the SDF-1 and the Protoculture Matrix. In Robotech, Protoculture is basically Quintessence. In VLD S7, the IGF-Atlas is an homage to the SDF-1, which can transform into a giant robot (in addition to having its own fleet of transforming jet fighters, aka the Veritechs/Valkyries).

As for Rick Hunter, well, I can’t post about Roy without posting about Rick at the same time.

Rick is a pretty standard shōnen protagonist. Wears red, has a mullet, can be a little hot-headed, is introduced on the young side, and his prodigy-like piloting skills have him leading a squadron of his own in no time. Sound familiar? He glows up over the course of the series too.

In subsequent Robotech sequels, Rick goes on to lead the SDF-3. His most recent incarnation is seen in Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles, where he’s now an older man (54), has all white hair and has acquired a curious scar along his left right cheek and jaw.

Finally, in the Robotech/Voltron cross-over, Rick is lead by the ghost of King Alfor to find and pilot the White Lion. This the only time in the Voltron mythos that the White Lion appeared as an actual mecha (we’ll see if S8 brings us one but I kind of doubt it).

Also, the Robotech/Voltron cross-over is also the first time that a comet with the ability to cross universes (cough REALITIES cough) has appeared in the Voltron mythos. So there’s that as well. (ʘ‿ʘ✿)

Hey, so your avatar blog popup thing shows your recent post thumbnails just fine for me. Same with three other blogs, and those post a fair amount of nsfw content. On the other hand, two blogs that are strictly sfw have their popups not working. I'm not sure what the logic/pattern behind this is, if there even is one X_X

I recently noticed that my thumbnails are working again too, but there’s still the inconsistency of other blogs on my dash with showing and not showing.

I wish I understood more about databases to speculate properly (because I don’t have enough skill sets apparently), but the logic/pattern seems to be:

Every blog is superficially scanned for some tags or content based upon some criteria.

Every blog is superficially scanned for certain behaviors: reblogging, adding external links, leaving lots of comments, etc (my wild-and-probably-wrong-but-still-educated guess).

Based on some criteria, all blogs are placed into an automated work queue for further evaluation.

During this evaluation, some blogs are automatically purged (rightfully or not). Those were the first purged blogs we heard about. See also those blogs who did their due diligence and used the adult content/N/S/F/W restriction setting.

Then, (again super wild-but-educated guess here) other blogs are having their posts ‘polled’ or re-indexed by the database for another kind of evaluation. This process disrupts the search method, as well as disrupts features like the popover showing “most recent top posts.”

“Most recent top posts” is key because in the past, my thumbnails could show posts from a month ago, but they had the most notes. As of right now, my thumbnails are showing the two posts that I made this morning, and those only have a few notes on them. This tells me that my prior posts were part of the ‘polling’ but posts that I make today going forward will not be.

So the question is, will this polling (if that’s what’s going on) mean that my blog gets purged when the polling is finished, or is there some criteria that won’t be met? Clearly, I’m not in the ‘purge immediately’ category.

The polling and re-indexing might be done on a meta data level, either concurrently or rather than blog posts, it’s happening strictly on a meta data level. Meta data = tags. Hence, RIP Kei/tor (seriously that’s effed up, it’s such a chill tag and a sweet ship).

Another wild-but-educated guess is that tags to be polled and re-indexed for purging or evaluation are coming from a list of obvious tags like N/S/F/W, anything kink-related, etc; and then come from common fandom tags starting with ships.

All of that said, I’ve confirmed that the internal blog search of my tags for reblogs is broken with non-western tags, so this isn’t restricted to obvious content tags and fandom ships. I often use Japanese names for anime, even on reblog. For example, my posts tagged with #宇宙戦艦ヤマト appear, but none of my reblogs do.

Reblog search has always been an issue, and Tumblr site-wide search never includes reblogs, so it’s probably just broken at this point for internal blog search and might be unrelated to the purging?-or–not-purging? issue.

From what blogs that I follow have posted, non-Western language tags—example tags in Japanese for content like /gei/co/mi/ [ゲ/イ/コ/ミ] or B/L [B/L/論/争]—are also purged-or-blocked from search. Only posts by @rottenboysclub​  are showing up, and those posts are informational and do not contain exp/licit content. He has a post about blocked tags here.

That tells me that the “forced SFW search” feature is default for every user when using Tumblr’s search (so, rumor confirmed). But if you use Google search with terms like “ゲ/イ/コ/ミ Tumblr” then exp/licit blogs show up in Google’s search results and you can go to them.

Same goes for Kei/tor. Kei/tor blogs appear in Google’s search results, BUT, the first Google search result is the one for tagged posts, which takes me to the ‘no results’ page.

Thus, the Kei/tor tag must have been flagged as N/S/F/W and the forced-SFW search is blocking it, both posts and blogs. But these Kei/tor blogs are still available if you search for them on Google and click-thru from there. No idea if that just means that those blogs are blocked from Tumblr search and will be purged soon, or if they are simply blocked.

Apologies for all the slashes, trying to beat the broken system. Also, I’m stupidly-fixated on this right now and it’s bothering me because it’s a problem that I can’t solve, or suss out better details on.
