I'm trying to understand how to give a noun attributes, and I thought of a new headcanon to make sense of the attributive particle 的, de.

In English we're used to the modifying phrase coming after the noun that is being modified. But in Mandarin it's generally the other way around.

The general pattern is

[modifying phrase] 的 [noun to be modified]

So "A person that I like" is

[我 喜欢] 的 [人] [wǒ​ xǐ​huan]​ de​ [rén]​ [I like] PARTICLE [person]

which can feel backwards and strange compared to what English speakers are used to.

But if I read 的 as "kinda" like this, it kind of makes sense to me:

wǒ​ xǐ​huan​ de​ rén​ "a me-like" kinda person

We start out with all possible persons, and then I narrow it down to the kinds of persons that I like.

Same thing with eg.

从 云梦 来 的 学生 cóng Yúnmèng lái de xuésheng from Yúnmèng come PARTICLE student "a student who has come from Yúnmèng"

or, cóng Yúnmèng lái de xuésheng "a come-from-Yúnmèng kinda student"

You start with all possible students, and then narrow it down to those coming from Yúnmèng.

It makes a bit more sense than before to me at least!

的

E’ una particella che indica possesso, è seguita da un NOME e risponde alla domanda 什么？(cosa). Ad esempio 我的书 (我的什么?)

Viene anche usato per modificare un nome in un aggettivo , ad esempio 新的书 (libro nuovo) oppure 最好的朋友 (migliore amico).

得

Il carattere 得 può essere usato come verbo (pronuncia dei3) con il significato di “dovere”, “essere necessario” es. 我得去 (devo andare), oppure con il significato di “ottenere” (pronuncia déi) 她得了第一名 (Lei ha ottenuto il primo posto).

Come particella è utilizzato per formare il COMPLEMENTO DI GRADO, è preceduto da un VERBO e seguito da un AGGETTIVO. Risponde alla domanda 怎么样? (in che modo/con che grado).

Ad esempio lo troviamo nelle frasi: 你说得很快 (你说得怎么样? ) 我起得早 (Mi alzo presto: 起 verbo “alzarsi” 早 aggettivo “presto”) 我汉语说得好 (Parlo cinese bene, 说 verbo “parlare” 好 aggettivo “bene”).

地

La particella 地 deve essere inserita tra aggettivo e verbo per trasformare l’aggettivo in avverbio.

Risponde alla domanda 怎么? (come/in che modo), lo troviamo nelle espressioni quali 慢慢地走 ( 慢慢地怎么?) es: 我高兴地说 (Io dico/parlo felicemente 高兴 aggettivo “felice”, 说 verbo “dire/parlare”) 我小声地问 （Io chiedo silenziosamente 小声 aggettivo “silenzioso” 问 verbo “chiedere”).
