初日、在廊してくれたHonda Silk worksの本多祐二さん、さくらさんご夫妻。

１日だけの在廊ということで、多くの方が会いに来てくれました。

皆様、ありがとうございます。

　

本多さんとの出会いは、あるぴいの銀花ギャラリーで開催していた、荒川尚也さんのガラス展です。

当時、秩父で養蚕をしながらストールまで仕上げているという話に驚き、とても興味を持ちました。

その後、ふたりの仕事を見てみたくなって、秩父の工房を訪ねました。

活動を京都に移してからも、度々、仕事と丁寧な暮らしに触れさせていただきました。

　

ちょっと古い画像も混ざりますが、ふたりが成長していく雰囲気や、逞しくなる顔付きが伝わればと思います。

2016年、京都に移住、冨田潤染織工房のアシスタントとして越畑での暮らしがはじまりました

富岡製糸場の繭を分けていただき、糸引きから天然染料での染色、織りまでと季節に寄り添う暮らしと仕事。

　

現在の姿を撮ろうと思っていたのに、慌ただしい初日で、撮り忘れてしまいました。

've been playing Persona 5 Tactica and it has recovered my love for BIG HAND CHIBI. It works really well with my line and shading styles ;_; am so habpy. Featuring the good ol Levant from Jade Cocoon. (fave)

The differences between all the versions of “Moon” on the Turn A Gundam soundtrack(s):

1. “Moon” (Gabriela Robin) — the first version we hear in the show, and a beautifully innocent version with nonsense lyrics in a made-up language sung by “Gabriela Robin” (in reality Kanno herself). A bit less grand in overall effect than “Tsuki no Mayu”, but nonetheless striking and sweeping in its own right, and very nostalgic.

2. “5/4 Moon” — a cute little version (that isn’t actually in 5/4 as its name suggests) in the key of D minor with octave mandolin, an almost Mellotron-esque sampled flute patch, and an intimate, folksy atmosphere that feels like a picnic on a partly sunny day.

3. “Tsuki no Mayu” (Okui Aki) — the version that ends up being used as the second ED for the show; very similar to the Gabriela Robin “Moon” but with slight production differences (including an electric guitar in the choruses) making it come off a bit grander and more powerful. Okui’s passionate voice really helps, and it absolutely feels suitable for the large-scale sci-fi show it’s used to cap off — particularly in its full version that shows up at the end of the very last episode.

4. “She’s So High” — another instrumental version that shows up towards the end of the show, featuring echoing electric guitars, synthesisers, a lovely classical guitar rendition of the melody, and backing choirs which seem pretty much transplanted from the Gabriela Robin “Moon”. Overall the effect is extremely warm and enveloping, and makes me feel like I’m floating. Absolutely beautiful.

5. “Moon 2” — a purely orchestral version in F-sharp minor, with a passionately “cinematic” short introduction in the strings; the harp ends up playing the melody for the first part, nearly getting swallowed up by the strings and winds, but the effect gives me chills when I listen to it. It’s utterly beautiful, and the transition to the chorus melody taken by the strings (and later the flutes) is brilliant. The clarinet figurations, and countermelodies in other instruments, make the whole setting gently contrapuntal and ethereal. This might be my favourite version of the tune, though it’s very hard to say.
