these characters are insufferable for a few reasons: voice actors portray them as annoying and attempting to be quirky or MODERN in the universe they're in, the stealthy thief type, "rebellious" in some way, and just plain deceitful and very asshole-ish. i've seen a number of clips about Zhen in the KFP movie, so i don't know too much about her, but i know ENOUGH about Ava & Kiriko to call them some of the most distasteful characters in my favorite medias.

let me rescrap my original reason and rewrite it here: i hate when writers make blatant self-inserts that have zero kind of originality. i have zero respect for these characters and i generally just can't stand them when they're only there to be badass by existing. you can make 'em, i'm not saying to outlaw that, but i will not like that character is there solely to be a "modern" teenager in media and is there with purpose that makes so sense.
