I’m up late so here are some HC’s I have of the girlies

Nat:

- You get her one of those “back off, I love my gf” shirts as a joke, expecting her to never put it on and she wears it RELIGIOUSLY. She is so proud to wear that shit

- (If you’re lucky enough to have a positive male figure, a grandfather or father in your life) one time overhears Nat talking about her home life and now that male figure is determined to make her feel safe and happy. He’ll insist that you both join him for fishing and while you’re apprehensive, Nat is 100% down.

-She never has water or lunch because she forgets/chooses to not take care of herself so you drop it off to her at practice everyday

- She sleeps with a stuffed animal but will not let ANYONE know

Shauna:

- Early riser, even when sleeping w you but she will just happily lay next to you, holding your hand, admiring you while you sleep just taking you in for a few extra moments.

- she has a scrapbook of everything you guys have done (movie tickets, Polaroids, etc), and she also keeps all the flowers you’ve ever gotten her in there after they’ve dried and withered

- She loves stargazing, she knows astronomy and can and will point out the constellations to you

- Reading to or with each other is common and probably a love language, especially reading the other to sleep

Lottie:

- Surprisingly very good at all the fine arts; she can draw well, she definitely can play the piano bc her rich parents paid for her to have lessons, etc

- Blanket stealer; she insists on having the AC CRANKED at night, then steals the blankets while you both are sleeping and you wake up with hypothermia while she’s snuggled up in all your blankets

- She wasn’t allowed to have a pet so you buy her a single goldfish once and she loves it so much, she let you name it (you named it something stupid but she still calls it what you want) it dies in like 2 days because as intelligent as she is she is incapable of taking care of another living thing and she is inconsolable for days. You got her a succulent to make her feel better

Jackie:

- Clingy (derogatory) sure it’s cute of her at first until she’s waking up at 5 am for her morning practices and wakes you up too so you both can “brush your teeth together”

- She will always ask for your old marked up books to read and she makes small notes in the margins in a different color before giving them back (She has reading glasses too, and she looks gorgeous in them)

- She asks you to help her stretch, or roll out her muscles before practice but she doesn’t need help she just wants to get you flustered and have your hands all over her

I LOVE THEM 🤭

nat would wear that shirt 24/7 istg 😭 especially as her pjs, and omg i love the idea of your male parental figure inviting nat to everything as well 🥹 even if it’s just something simple like going out for brunch, it’d make her feel way better and more welcomed. and her forgetting to bring lunch everyday is SO REAL 😭 then she’ll prolly buy a bag of chips and a soda as her first meal of the day and then complain about having a stomach ache 🙄 GIRL… also for sure, i bet her plushy is a little white bunny with long ears that was given to her as a toddler.

shauna has always given me the vibe that she wakes up at 9am idk but yeah she’d def just lay there looking at you 😭😭 and the scrapbook thing is SO TRUE, i bet she also adds entries of everything you do together 🫣 since she loves stargazing you got her one of those custom star maps of your anniversary day and she LOVED IT 🥹 and she for sure loves reading to you and hearing you read her favourite books to her

i def see lottie being good at drawing and playing the piano 😌 i also bet she’s especially good at painting landscapes and stuff like that. whenever u complain about her taking the blankets, she’ll just tell you to snuggle up to her to get warmer instead of actually sharing her blanket with you 🙄🙄 but if you’re the one stealing the blankets she’ll pout and whine for hours until you share them with her… the AUDACITY 😒 my girl came back from school on a random day and realized the goldfish wasn’t there anymore, she got concerned and asked the domestic helper what had happened, and she told her that the fish died like two weeks ago ☠️☠️ when i tell u lottie was SHOCKED… she was so embarrassed that she told you that it got a weird disease and died from natural causes LMFAOO

jackie waking you up so you can brush your teeth together is so real 😭😭 my girl doesn’t get the concept of having “alone time.” i just know it takes jackie an hour to read 3 pages, i bet she spends half of that time drawing silly little doodles all over the margins ☠️ and for sure, she also asks u to rub sunscreen on her body even though she could do it herself, she just wants to feel your touch 🫣

Fic prompt, Young Justice era:

Robin(Tim) and Superboy break into the Fenton Ops Center after discovering a faction of the DEO that was created exclusively for dealing with ghosts.

They came across this sub-agency while combing through hacked documents after saving Greta, and found out the Department of Extranormal Operations formed the Ghost Investigation Ward and gets special ghost-hunting weapons from mad scientist inventors in a small Illinois town.

Danny (with his sharper senses) hears the break in and goes to investigate with the Fenton Creep Stick. Robbers get hired on occasion to steal inventions that aren’t patented yet. He hears movement just on the other side of the door and goes in swinging. Hits Superboy in the back and makes him stumble, which causes serious alarm from the two heroes.

“That actually almost hurt!” Superboy says in surprise, staring wide-eyed at the new kid holding a splintered baseball bat.

“You cracked the Creep Stick,” Danny stares at the bat with his mouth open. “I didn’t know it could break.”

“Rob? I think this guy has powers.”

Danny looks up, blinking in shock, “Your name is Rob? And you became a Robber? Dude. You don’t have to define yourself by what your parents named you.”

Superboy tries to hide his laughter while Robin sputters. “I’m not - They didn’t -”

“Oh!” Danny has an epiphany. “Did you name yourself that? I chose my name too, but I’m just Danny. I didn’t go and name myself after an illegal profession. Like, can you imagine if I was an arsonist named Bernie? Or a skeevy car salesman named Otto? I know it’s hard to choose a name when you’re trans, and, I gotta admit, being a robber named Rob is hilarious, but there’s more options out there, I promise. For names and career paths.”

Superboy is wheezing at this point and Robin’s face is near fuchsia. Instead of addressing any of that, Robin gets angry.

“We aren’t robbers! We’re heroes! I’m Robin. that’s Superboy. Your parents sell weapons that hurt people and we’re here to stop that!”

Danny tosses the broken Creep Stick over his shoulder and smiles wide.

“Why didn’t you say so! Oh man, this is great. I’ve been sabotaging their stuff for years. If you’re here to help I’ve got a couple projects you can definitely smash.”

do you have hcs for van, tai, lottie, and nat dealing with homophobia either individually or as a pair?

oh my shaylas... actually yes & nobody asked me to make this about soccer but i simply have to! 😭

i think the ways they deal with homophobia are rich to consider alongside their positions on the team. i'll center the hc's around verbal homophobia in the outside world, like what you might experience walking down the street. tbh it's kind of sad/heavy hc's but interesting to think through.

van (goalie)- it hurts of course but van would be focused on defending the people around her. i literally see her pushing people behind her and using her body as a shield to weather whatever is coming, in the same way she puts herself on the line to defend the goal.

tai (midfielder)- i have thought of tai in a purely offensive position before but i think her canonical position works for this as a combo between offense/defense. i see her initial reaction to be rage & wanting to fight back (offense) but then it sort of wilts into shame/defense (the internalized homophobia the show hints at) and falling back to guard herself. i think she struggles to find a balance & out of all of them, she is the most deeply affected by these kind of snipes. you have to consider that as a Black lesbian, she has higher risks in fighting back, so i definitely see van naturally pushing tai behind her in those situations.

lottie (center back)- as a center back, lottie is all about letting things deflect off her, sending it back to the other side of the field. she has to be a solid wall and not let anything get past her. so I see her as the type to keep walking, nothing penetrates. not even a glance at the person, nothing. she holds nat's hand and keeps walking, nothing is going to get through her. she's calm waters & to an extent, i don't even think she lets it make it through to her mind. this is the world and you carry on, don't give it a thought.

natalie (winger)- as an offensive player, i could see natalie getting pissy. the "eufjeeidhje fuck you?" that she says when jackie slut shames her could work here. she keeps a level head most of the time but with shit like this? with shit directed at lottie and her friends? she's flipping the asshole off and people are having to sort of drag her away from the interaction.

just my two cents. but interesting to think about how they would all mesh together and keep each other safe in these situations, just like they work together as a soccer team.

And then. Think about jlu!wally waking up in a universe where his parents are alive, where Barry is alive. In this universe there were enough Flashes/heroes that Wally got to retire. (Well, until he couldn't). In this universe, none of the League members know him like they did in his universe. He has to wrestle with who he trusts the most. People who know him super well but he doesn't know them? Or people who he knows in his universe but doesn't seem to know as well in this universe (bonus points if there's an emphasis on green lantern and batman sobsosbsovss).

I’m curious if you have any thoughts or headcanons about Onslaught and alcohol. I imagine being a semi-functioning evil team is stressful and if Psimon is chucking everyone’s vapes then cigs and 420 isn’t an option, then alcohol is the second best thing right? Besides drinking together is team building and leads to this wonderful thing called “actually talking about your trauma instead of bottling it up for once”.

That IS a good question and I’m so flattered that y’all bother with my content. <3 I think they’d be at least somewhat different about alcohol.

(Sorry for any typos in advance, I wrote this mostly at various doctor’s appointments. ALSO. Last thing to apologize for. I’ve never vaped or smoked when I wrote the last part, but I also have never consumed alcohol and that fact may be more evident in this one)

Okay so, in the beginning, Onslaught was Mostly teens. Psimon was BARELY even old enough to drink in America at the ripe young age of 21, flat. And I thinnkkkkkk Psimon is American? Even if he’s not, it seems the rest of Onslaught is, so I think  Psimon would probably step up and be all “No, no,” confiscate all the bottles and cans and it’d make the teens so mad and indignant. Literal felons are being BABYSAT. Even when they travel where the drinking age is lower. 

But when the teenagers turn old enough to drink, they have a whole little birthday celebration with what they can get, and of course, offer the first taste of alcohol. Their choice for what it is, as long as the team could afford it. Of course, they laugh and tease if they recoil from the taste. 

Most of the team is pretty fond of drinking, usually together. It’s nice bonding.

Devastation is the only exception to the “Psimon Says no alcohol until you’re 21” rule from the beginning. The team can argue “She is LITERALLY one (1) year old” all they want. She is LITERALLY built different, Psimon is fine with her drinking. 

Idk if she particularly has a preference for any kind. She’s probably one of those who subscribe to the belief of “It ain’t right if it doesn’t burn a bit going down”. Wine is probably somewhat…nostalgic. For some reason. Takes her back to someplace she can’t name, someplace she’s never been, but I think that’d be one of the only reasons she might prefer wine. Her taste may be all over. May be whatever’s strong and good. I’m no alcohol savant, what do I know? 

She likes to drink to celebrate and to bond, sometimes to ebb at stress. It takes a LOT to get her drunk, but that’s not gonna stop her from getting drunk when she has the time and money burn on it. She gets drunk and gets even more jovial and warm and open, though she’s usually relatively open. Also, haphazard. She becomes a big fan of violating people’s personal space. Hugs, patting backs, throwing her arm around them, leaning on people shorter than her, etc.

It can annoy a lot of people if she does it too much, Psimon strangely doesn’t seem to mind too much tho…aheem…

Besides that, Psimon’s generally against the team drinking to the point of drunkenness, but there’s little to actually do about it; he struggles to track all of their limits, and when he’s focusing on one, that leaves all the others alone. He tries to avoid getting drunk himself instead. Someone has to stay sober, and his psionic powers don’t mix well with too much alcohol. And he’s the leader. It makes the most sense that it’d be him to keep his wits about him.

The Terror Twins are hearty drinkers; they also can drink a lot and get very warm and jovial when drinking, like Devastation. Any outing to a bar feels celebratory with them. They decided they don’t like to get fully drunk though, not too regularly. First Tuppence decided this, then Tommy when she pointed it out to him. They don’t want to open up more quickly than they intend. Psimon can relate to that, so he defends them when they drop out. That doesn’t stop them from having fun with everyone else though, or helping when things get bad. They’re usually decent at opening up on their own time anyway. 

Shimmer and Mammoth like to follow Psimon’s lead and keep excess drinking to a minimum. A couple of shots, a glass or maybe two, it really depends on what it is, but that’s it. Mammoth can take more than his sister, just by merit of him being so much larger, but he doesn’t like the taste of alcohol at all while his sister does. However, the second either of them get any kind of buzz ebbing at their senses is the second they quit. 

If they’re found sitting down and downing drinks, something is wrong. They’d only let go so much if they’re trying to drown their problems. Then, they can use some company. Someone lending an ear to their sorrows doesn’t sound half bad. 

If another team member is in a similar situation and needs someone to simply sit next to them and just be, or listen, Baran and Selinda are quick to be there for them.

Junior drinks for fun, he’ll seize any opportunity to drink. That man is getting “Krunk” as the kids say. He doesn’t know his limits and if he did, there’s no telling if he’d actually adhere to them. He WILL blackout if no one keeps an eye on him. He will be puking in the trashcan. The rest of the team has to steer him away from opportunities to drink lest he develop alcoholism at the tender age of 5-minutes-into-being-able-to-legally-drink. 

His mood becomes turbulent and fragile. He’ll typically be happy, loud, reckless, aggressive; but at the mention of the wrong thing or at the sight of something that takes him way back, he can breakdown rather easily. It’s actually pretty common for his drunken stints, when they get out of hand, to end in tears. Junior has to be one of the least repressed members of Onslaught, due in no small part to moments like these; where he lets his emotions run rampant and they go down a bad path. 

He’d expect ridicule, but Onslaught is actually very sympathetic to his struggles and complaints, whatever they may be. He can air his dirty laundry as much as he wants with little to no judgement, something he’s not used to. Once he starts, it’s hard to stop, but the team will listen until the end and it’s something he’s really grateful for. Despite being a troublemaker and general criminal, he tries to pay the team’s kindness towards him forward as much as he can.

If Psimon does end up drinking to lose his troubles, he usually does it alone, when everyone else is asleep. Or at least when he thinks everyone else is asleep. Sometimes someone will wander about looking for a late night snack or a glass of water, or even search for him himself. He dislikes being caught like that, dislikes not being so impervious and put-together for the team. 

Without fail, they’ll sit with him awhile. They’ll ask, they’ll listen, they’ll joke or comfort or sit in silence. Psimon will wither in place or try to get them to leave him be, but they’re a stubborn lot. They’re far from the most “upstanding” of company, but they treat him with the same care, empathy, and concern he tries to treats them with; and Psimon finds afterwards that, despite not enjoying being caught in a state of weakness or forced to open up, he wouldn’t have rather it have gone any other way.

yellowjackets AHS!murder house au...thots? ur in college, looking for a place to rent and the only one you can find is this creepy, old looking one but rent is practically nonexistent, so you take it. you start to notice small stuff like phantom touches when you sleep, or the feeling of someone watching while you study. when you come home from a class one day, there's six girls in your living room.

shauna would like to spend time with you but she’d also have homicidal thoughts i just know it (in a homoerotic way, not serial killer way) 🤨 but my girl jackie would come in clutch and ground her 🙏🏻 she’d also love to watch you study, and ask to borrow some of ur textbooks

if you're feeling down, jackie would call a group meeting behind your back and have a bunch of brainstorming sessions to come up with things to do to make you feel better—or to figure out what's wrong.

nat would be the walking definition of minding your own business, she’d usually be quietly standing next to the window smoking a blunt. u’d become friends cuz u’d smoke together occasionally 🙇🏻‍♂️ and u’d buy new cassettes for her to listen to

laura lee would force everyone to hold hands and pray for their souls in purgatory every single night before bed 😭

misty would go NUTS if you’re not home by the usual time, she’d freak out and stand in the window with some weird ass binoculars

what made you ship travnat?

travnat>> lottienat & their dynamic tbh. the wilderness declared them as hunters, and now they protect everyone together. both of their fathers are dead and they deserved it but that doesn’t make it hurt any less. they draw cards and suddenly the hunter is being hunted and the other hunter refuses to join. travis's little brother tries to save nat and he dies instead. they make a promise not to kill themselves. they had to, after javi gave up everything so they could live. they both get accidentally killed, travis by someone he worshiped and nat by someone who worshiped her. they didn’t cause their own deaths, but the world has no faith in addicts, so it’s called a suicide and an overdose anyway. but also, it’s the way travis slowly lost all the will to live in the wilderness because they took his family away from him—yet there nat stays as his support, his lifeline. he clings on to the only form of attachment he has left to make it through the 19 months they’re trapped. nat, on the other hand, clings on to all the times she’s been wronged, all the pain and suffering she has ever had to go through, and all the debt left to collect from an all too cruel world. she clings on to the fact that she’s useful, that she can feed them, and that she can keep travis alive. the two of them are tethered together by each other, like a weight holding them to the earth, stronger than anything. they live for each other, and that makes it all more heartbreaking when he dies because, no, it wasn’t just a death. it was a betrayal to the both of them, that nat didn’t mean enough to travis for him to stay, that her word wasn’t strong enough to live anymore because, in a way, they traded hearts out there in the wilderness and gave something important for the other to treasure and keep as a sign of the importance they hold to one another, so by dying, travis basically already took nat down with him, broke her heart, and left him to rot and cold in her callused, guilty hands. and nat thinks travis is the only person who ever understood her, ever got her, even the only one who really loved her, too. and we now know that nat was handed power because “the wilderness chose” and they couldn’t kill her. we also know that travis was the only one who tried to stop them from killing her at the time. so, of course she feels more comfortable with travis. when travis puts her hand over his heart, it’s not travis saying the wilderness chose you, and i am bowing to you because of that. it’s travis saying i choose you, nat, because i know you and i love you. she holds onto this for the entire time they are out there and every day after they return. she lost her purpose, and she needed to cling to travis because of everything they did out there. but also because travis was the one person who saw her and chose her. and so, of course, she fights for him. she believes that he’ll honor his word to her. they were in that together, like they have been in everything together. they are so horrible, toxic, and yet forever intertwined. how could they ever love each other? how could they ever love anyone else?

The adult characters really do lack that good gender fuckery that's present in their teen versions. Like, yes, teen Nat has femme touches, but I can't see her growing up to regularly wear heels & flowery tops, & it was honestly distracting with how wrong it felt. Teen Lottie pre-crash was femme with a little edge (those docs!), but she's got such an androgyny to her in the wilderness that does not carry over into her endless collection of silk caftans. Shauna still got her flannels but it's a totally different vibe. I guess a reasonable explanation is that returning to the real world forced them back into the box of gendered expectations, especially as they got older

nat, lottie, & shauna gender dissonance meta

OKAY. i am here, and i am WITH YOU, anon. (lottie voice) no one else in the world but YOU right now. (you--i think--sent a couple fun gender asks, so i will do my best not to lose the plot as i get through them.)

i think there's a couple things to what you've mentioned here that are super insightful, and i'm gonna try to drag them out with my teeth (if you don't mind):

gender restraint & the adult cast

the first is the notion that returning to the real world forced the yellowjackets back into a box of gender expectations. i agree- i think this definitely had an effect (especially in the case of shauna & comphet), but i also maybe will push some meta commentary here that i think we're seeing a dynamic outside of the story altogether-- it's also the tension between actors of different ages attempting to play the same character.

nowadays, gender fluidity and fucky expression is still oppressed in many ways but also more permissible than when the adult cast were younger. you can find pics of almost all the teen cast pulling some masc shit (and looking hot!) but that just wasn't expected of younger actresses during the heyday of the adult cast... so, i think there's an element of the actors having personal relationships (and restraints) around gender that allows the teen cast to get a bit more fucky with it than i think the adult cast is naturally willing to be. and i don't know what else to say about that, except that i do think it's a hinderance to characterization and one of the sources of dissonance between the timelines. but like? it's not avoidable either.

but yeah, to get at some gender thoughts between the teen and adult characters, i'll kind of move through the ones you mentioned:

teen natalie

so if we accept that the wilderness exerts its own control over the gender expression of the yellowjackets (due to literal lack of clothes & the survivalism interfering with these kind of concerns altogether) and we also accept that there are some limitations on actualizing gender in the adult timeline- i would say that nat's outfit at the pilot party is probably the most faithful representation of her "authentic" gender. (sidebar: i wouldn't say that's true of all the girls at the party. the only ones i actually think it's true of are nat, taivan, and i suppose laura lee. everyone else is sort of trying to meet an expectation imo.)

in any case, we have reason to believe this is an authentic representation of nat's gender expression because one thing we know about nat from our saint & savior jackie taylor is that nat is always herself. i don't know if i agree that jackie's compliment is universally accurate (i think nat conceals a lot), but i will agree that it's true in the case of style. even in the wilderness, nat's actualizing her style with limited resources. and it's generally very androgynous.

but yeah as far as the pilot outfit goes? this fit is andro as fuck. like yes we got the ripped fishnets and the short plaid skirt, but we also got the oversized dagger collar, the combat boots, and the jacket giving everything a square vibe up top that masks her chest. i don't think it's a fluke that nat goes on to keep up these kinds of looks that mesh masculinity and femininity throughout the intervening seasons of the show. i actually think she is one of the only teen characters who is taking a stab at getting as close as possible to her outside-world gender expression in the wilderness. (they may share clothes but no one wears nat's leather jacket except NAT, for example. also the fuckass hairband? andro goooood.)

at a certain point, i wondered if this was just sophie thatcher coming through, but after seeing her in interviews, i'm confident it's really not. soapy is doing something with her voice, mannerisms, and stylistic choices (especially in s3) that's unique to nat. and it's pretty andro. but as we've discussed one of the points of dissonance (in a meta way) is that JL's version of nat has a different gender (in the way that cis women can have different genders from each other). i think her outfits strike off because they're not really teen nat. they are fem. (and made explicitly more so through mannerism than even the outfits themselves.) and that's fine--JL's playing *an interesting character*--but i don't think that character has the same gender as nat.

teen lottie

i'm going to copy-paste some stuff i wrote earlier about teen lottie, acknowledging that a lot of people are probably gonna disagree with me, but!! whatever!!

so the first representation of lottie's gender expression we get outside of the crash and the limitation on clothes in the wilderness is at the party with her hostess snowball getup. we also get a few flashes of her in clothes (that never show up again???) immediate post-crash.

tbh i think lottie's style pre-crash (just like put aside the adult timeline-- we don't go there right now) feels very put-upon. like i know there's a lot of "fashionista" hc's about lottie and i see where they come from, but when i think of her as this weird isolated girl with rich parents who steals from tj maxx, i can't help but see that as her literally pulling curated shit right off mannequins and trying it on. i even think about the stealing as a sort of method to do that, putting on identities almost? seeing if they stick? because she feels unmoored to her identity because she's always been told that she's wrong--that her mental health is wrong, but at the end of the day... that's her too. so it's like... what if i try this on? will this make me right? (me over-analyzing and projecting but there could be some mixed race fuckshit swirling around that as well.)

also in the teen timeline, lottie's style changes and settles post-crash into being very much... what's around? she wears the same ass dress (laura lee's?) and the same ass furs between the spring and winter. yeah her doomcoming outfit is peak, but i'm not even trying to say she doesn't understand style. lottie does. it's just kind of... academic. i'm not sure that i think teen lottie has the sort of innate tastes that are assumed of her though. to me, it feels like she's going through the motions and trying to be something when she wears her pre-crash getups because i think the isolation of her mental health, her upbringing, etc. makes her feel like nothing. clothes are an outlet for that and tbh idk if her picks even really suit her. (like the pink outfit in the pilot is PEAK, but it also doesn't feel like lottie at all. AND it not feeling like lottie and not suiting her does feel like lottie??)

BUT that isn't to say all of lottie's gender expression is inauthentic or passive. there are aspects of her appearance that seem more intentionally placed? like her pink-laced docs are so unique and they absolutely don't go with most of the stuff she's wearing. i think that is lottie. the fact that they end up in pretty much every outfit (pre and post wilderness) make me have this sense that they're "stuck" to her. this is actually a gendered thing, something she likes, something that maybe feels good?

pink-laced docs have a bit of a riot girl vibe that's like you said-- femme with a little edge + it gets matched to lottie's abject disregard for clothing in the wilderness in a way that comes off a little andro. in that sense, with regard to gender, i just see teen lottie being a lot less invested, almost a little agender in her expression (besides the docs), that doesn't translate into the adult timeline well. i think i could be down with the endless kaftans if they were treated more academically??? like lottie having a knowledge of what's nice appeals to me, but an actual appreciation? i think the stealing proves that she actually doesn't have that much respect for clothes or their value tbh. it would have been fun to see that ambivalence make it to the adult timeline, but i think this is another moment of adult actor dissonance? because i think simone kessell's lottie is very appreciative of the "finer things" in a not put-upon way, but idk-- that's not how i view teen lottie. i view teen lottie as playing a role. so, kinda the same with nat... a good character! a different gender!!

teen shauna

god, teen shauna is so fucking interesting. in season 1, what we get of her style is the flannels but they're sort of... loser poet girl? they're not exactly masc yet imo.

what we also get is her outfit at the party, which we know was picked out for her by jackie and is the "boob dress."

an interesting thing about that dress. if you look in the above gif, you can see how tightly shauna is hugging herself. she's not letting them boobs out! in a way, she's compressing herself and hiding her chest with her denim top. she seems to be uncomfortable leaning into the boob dress (and the femininity of it).

teen shauna fucks with layers a lot post-crash, and these layers invariably hide her chest. (this gets way more obvious in season 3 alongside her "mascification" if you will.)

meanwhile, adult shauna sort of strives for some similar looks. but they sort of... stay fem? like, there's something just a shit-ton softer here than what teen shauna is doing:

and to be perfectly honest??? she's not hiding her tits! not trying to be weird here, but there is something... going on with teen shauna on that front, and i think the sort of comfort with which melanie moves (which, i mean, GOOD FOR HER, her tits are great) is sort of at odds with perhaps a little dysphoria around femininity that teen shauna seems to show? this could be a ton of different things-- a gender thing (re: mascification) or simply the distress of giving birth and the trauma of lactation following a miscarriage. all that to say, it's just another area of dissonance between the characters when it comes to gender expression... like melanie's shauna is giving soccer mom & i'm not sure that she's always tapping into the coldness & like... almost resentment (?) that shauna seems to be show toward femininity in the teen timeline.

literally, i'm not even sure what i'm trying to say with this meta, but i guess what i'm trying to get across is that... if you think the show is maybe struggling to execute consistent expressions of gender across timelines in a believable way, you are probably right!! putting aside the ageism of it all, i think people struggle to square the timelines for other reasons, and gender??? it's a huge thing that i don't really see talked about much.

Just finished re-reading your fic Switcheroo, and I love it so much. Thus, I offer you the suggestion of young!Tim getting his version of young justice and the extended batfam to help him kidnap his alternate self, if only for a little while to give him a vacation, mayhaps involving yj meeting their alternates, littlest brother acquisition, and fucking with Gotham's rogues

Bruce would definitely be like: “Tim! I told you not without an adult!”

I’ve always kind of wanted, if I do write a follow up, to include Klarion in some way, because I really liked Klarion’s interactions with Young Justice (pretty sure they just straight up threatened to kill his cat if he didn’t turn everything back to normal, which was the only successful way to actually get Klarion to turn everythinf back to normal) but I can imagine that the Young Justice kids would be super down to help Tim kidnap and alternate dimension version of himself.

There would definitely be littlest brother acquisition! Both Tims have no idea how to hold a baby, but neither do most of the other Young Justice kids, so they just give Damian to Red Tornado or Cissie. (I’m petty sure, but not positive, that Cissie was used to babysitting in the series, but I may be wrong) The mental image I have of Tim, Cassie, Bart, and Kon all pondering over how to pick up a baby is really funny XD They get into an argument about it… Tim and Kon nearly start punching each other… Bart and Cassie panic and try to convince older Tim to help but he just watches and sighs wistfully and says “Those were the days… I should punch Connor when I get back, just for old time’s sake.”

And fucking with Gotham rogues would be really fun to write. I’ve always imagined a scene where older Jason Robin is out and finds a Rogue, only for a slightly smaller shadow to slip out from behind him. The Rogue doesn’t panic, they’ve become a bit more used to this trick, it won’t fool them again- holy shit a third one??? (A third shadow slips out from beneath the second shadow’s cover, and one can just barely glimpse, in the alleyway only just lit by a streetlamp at the opposite end of it, the glint of teeth in the sharp smile on the third shadow’s face) It would be really fun to write :D

I should probably write the sequel… but first I have to reread nineties Young Justice and the Red Robin run and I’ll read through some Batman comics and I love reading Teen Titans comics and- <— This is why it’s been so long, I’m so sorry to everyone who thought I was quick 🫡
