under the dimly lit city skyline, dressed in your spider-girl suit that was partly obscured by an unzipped sweater and some pants, you swiftly swung through the labyrinth of skyscrapers. an all-too-familiar scenario unfolded before you—another late arrival for a date with shauna because crime always found a way to interfere.

you had just finished dealing with two petty thieves, and while it felt like a routine for you, it often put your punctuality in jeopardy. as you hurriedly swung towards the diner, an hour late, you were praying to god that shauna would still be there waiting for you—although deep down, you knew she was already gone. she knew about your double life as spider-girl, but that didn't make the constant rescheduling any less frustrating.

reaching the diner, you plopped down to catch your breath and took off your mask, zipping up your sweater to conceal your suit. as you entered the place, a small bell rang, but a quick glance confirmed that shauna had already left.

“fuck,” you muttered with clenched teeth. sighing, you stepped outside, holding your mask in your fingers, and scanned the dark parking lot. you decided to swing past the way to her house, hoping to catch her on her way—the last text from her was just ten minutes ago, so she couldn't be too far.

putting your mask back on, you swung through the maze of trees and buildings that were on the way to your girlfriend's house. luckily, you spotted her from afar, crossing an empty street. you hung back a bit, making sure no one was around to avoid attracting attention.

finally, as she reached a more secluded spot, you seized the opportunity to make your presence known. you descended from the sky, silently landing right in front of her, suspended upside down by a web.

"boo," you said playfully, trying to lighten the mood a bit before having to confront her.

shauna jumped back, her hand pressed against her heart. "holy fuck, y/n! you almost gave me a heart attack!" she exclaimed, trying to catch her breath.

you couldn't help but grin beneath your mask. "my bad, couldn’t resist surprising you."

"surprise accomplished," she shot back with a hint of sarcasm, but you could tell the tension in her shoulders began to ease.

she stood right there, her gaze fixed on you, arms crossed, and wearing a deadpan expression. you found yourself unable to meet her eyes even underneath the mask, afraid to break the tense silence—she was definitely pissed.

"so, are you coming down?" she asked, her tone making you feel like a child who's about to get scolded.

you sheepishly glanced at your body, realizing you were still hanging upside down in front of her. “oh— yeah, of course,” you stammered with a nervous chuckle as you attempted to cut the web. your hands were trembling though, and you ended up landing clumsily on your face.

"ouch," you muttered, standing up awkwardly and taking off your mask to rub your forehead.

if shauna weren't so annoyed with you right now, she would have burst out laughing and followed it with the sweetest kiss—you looked adorable with your scruffy hair due to the mask and your little pout because of the forming bruise on your forehead.

"i'm sorry," you began, finally able to meet her gaze, "i swear i left home early. but, on my way there, there was this lady, and—" you started rambling until your explanation was cut short as she interrupted.

"this is literally the fifth time you've been late this month, y/n," she said firmly. "i know you want to help everyone, but it feels like you're putting everything else before me and our relationship."

"no, no, no," you hurriedly responded, moving closer to her and tenderly placing your hands on her cheeks. "baby, you're the most important thing in the world to me," you said as shauna unconsciously leaned into your touch. "i'm so sorry for making you feel this way. i promise i'll never put anything above our relationship ever again," you promised her.

she looked a bit unsure, but you sensed her heartbeat slowing down, and her expression softened under your touch. "i promise, okay? i mean it this time," you assured her, peering at her with pleading eyes. "i love you, shauna," you said sincerely.

she wanted to be angry at you, but she just couldn’t. and she couldn’t hide the small smile that started forming on her face either. "i love you more, y/n," she replied, gazing at you with those beautiful big brown eyes you adored so much. softly, she placed one of her hands on top of yours, while the other slid to the nape of your neck, pulling you closer for a soft and affectionate kiss. your lips fit together perfectly, and instinctively, you wrapped your hands around her waist, drawing her even closer as she reciprocated by wrapping her arms around your neck.

after a few more seconds, you both separated to catch your breath, but as you rested your forehead against hers, you winced in pain.

“sshit!” you muttered, making a pained expression as you gently touched your forehead.

shauna giggled and looked at you affectionately. "stop touching it, you're gonna make it worse," she said, taking your hand in hers and interlacing your fingers.

"c'mon, let's go home and get you cleaned up," she suggested, pulling you close and giving your bruise a feather-light kiss.

thinking about gay yellowjackets (homosexuals!) tonight. and like. what if there was a cheerleading team. what if they had a cheerleading team?! what then?

maybe a new girl transfers in and is appalled that they have a soccer team and no cheerleaders? unacceptable. so she puts one together. in the process garnering the attention of quite a few yellowjackets who start pining over her. and lowkey start competing for her attention.

and she’s just like their biggest supporter in like a normal way (not like misty) and is genuinely amused by the way they like to show off all their little soccer tricks to her

and idk maybe they get a bit more obvious but she’s just so oblivious. giggly and girly and hair-twirly but oblivious. and it’s frustrating but funny.

who builds them another shelter from blankets and animal hides after the cabin burns down. who keeps shauna and their baby warm through that first terrible winter and the one that followed.

and one day in 1998, Canadian forest rangers happen upon that American high school soccer team that went missing 2 years back. they find a group of starving teens and a baby, a little over a year old, two of the girls wrapped around him--and each other

i have so many thoughts on this. specifically about all their different dynamics

lottie - they have a sort of forced proximity thing going on (forced by lottie). no one else knows about lottie’s pills and mental health issues and she’d love to keep it that way. but our cheerleader girlie was just sort of in the wrong place at the wrong time and saw them fall out of lottie’s bag in the locker room. and lottie has just been pestering her ever since. at first it was begging her not to tell anyone. and the girl is just like idc. why would i tell anyone? but then the fact that this girl now knows makes lottie eventually just be like ykw i might as well tell her all that's on my mind -all the time- cause i have no one else to talk to about this. and so whenever the two of them are together they just constantly end up talking about some crazy mental health shit. they have those “hits the joint” talks without the smoking. but a lot of the times they’re so secretive about their little chats that the other yellowjackets are just so suspicious of them.

shauna - they’re study buddies. and they’re together outside of school like all the time. mostly cause shauna’s constantly like please come over and help me with this homework or this project or this math equation or this test. she always comes up with something. most of the time they end up not studying much at all for hours and then they end up having to stay up all night together working on the stuff they were initially supposed to be doing. and those past midnight/3am vibes just hit so hard for them. when it comes to her feelings - shauna doesn't like that jackie has a boyfriend, she hates how that makes her feel and this new girl has just been such a good distraction from jackie and all the feelings that come with being around her. it makes her feel less guilty; catching feelings for someone who isn't her straight best friend, so she's not opposed to it. also a part of her wants to make jackie feel that jealousy and pain that she feels whenever she sees her with jeff.

jackie - she LOVES the whole cheerleading thing. does she even like soccer anymore? would she rather be a cheerleader? probably. she loves to ask so many questions and watch them practice and try out all the different moves the cheerleaders do. she’s not romantically into our main girl (because she’s into shauna) and she is growing so so so jealous because of this bond that shauna and the cheerleader are developing. but obvi in her mind she's only feeling this way (starting to grow resentful) because she feels like she’s losing her best friend. duh. right. that's it? right?! (....she's a gay)

taissa - exercise! sports! early morning runs! i can see them meal prepping together lmao. these two are !health freaks! and they bond over that fast. taissa teaches her soccer the way our girl teaches cheer to jackie (she's bad at it and taissa makes fun of her for it but then our girl is just like- try doing a backflip. and that gets tai to shut up). a lot of the time the yellowjackets make fun off them for working out like they're preparing for war or something. but also saying it's great that tai finally found someone to be insane with (someone willing to get up at like 5am with her so they can go for a run). it gets kinda shady though, cause even though taissa is with van, she's been spending more and more time with their main cheerleader and enjoying it maybe a bit more than someone in a relationship should.

nat - unfortunately for nat she’s so different from the cheerleader that she’s been finding it hard to connect with her on a deeper level. she is so into her wants to get with her so bad but whenever she tries to get her to go hang out with her, or with her and kevin, it doesn’t usually work out. sometimes she comes along but she doesn’t smoke or drink (!health freak!). so most of the time she’s just like i need to study and ends up going with shauna. or says that tai and her are going for a run or that lottie and her are having a picnic or something. it's very frustrating and makes nat try to join in on her things instead of trying to get her to join in on hers. she tags along for a study session with her and shauna (she's painfully the third wheel). tries to hang out with lottie and her but that quickly ends as the two of them just clearly aren't talking the way they usually would if they were alone. (annoys nat to no end - whatever im going) the worst is when she tries to join taissa and her for one of those runs she's been hearing about. (they have to drag her out of bed.) like it was kind of fun, and it got the girl into her bed (kind of) but she never wants to do it again.

misty - i cant decide if she would be okay with this new girl coming in or not. if she would see her as competition or if she would see her as an authority figure that she would gladly do anything for. maybe a bit of both. the two have a bonding moment when during practice our girl scrapes her knee and misty is quick with her first aid skills. also they end up spending a lot of time on the bleachers watching the yellowjackets play so they bond during those times too. just as friends tho. but there is a certain aspect of jealousy because misty has always wanted to be "a part" of the girls' friend group but she has never been able to integrate with them. and she sees this new girl come in and do it so effortlessly it makes her jealous and sad. i wouldn't put it past her that she might even try to harm the cheerleader somehow and then (some of) the yellowjackets stand up for her and alienate misty even more.

van - she simply dislikes her. partly because of her and tai's growing connection but also just the fact that she isn’t into this whole vain mean girl vibe. (even tho she isn’t that at all) unfortunately van just has this preconceived judgement of how she assumes she must be considering she's this pretty girl cheerleader character. she treats her similarly to the way she treated jackie after jackie left her to die in the plane crash. she believes they’re just too different. she also doesn't like how tai's attention seems to be shifting away from her. this does kinda lead to her bettering her performance tho cause she wants tai’s attention back. to make it even worse, van and tai are already (secretly) dating and this thing that's happening is starting to feel to van a lot like emotional cheating.

laura lee - lowkey just wants someone to go to church and bible study with her. she already knows none of the yellowjackets are interested so she sees this new girl as someone who might be. eventually our girl mentions that her and lottie have been having some talks about spirituality and the vastness of the universe and how there has to be more to all of this (and that lottie has been hearing the voice of god lately jkjk... she doesnt mention that) etc etc and that maybe the two of them could join her to church one day and laura lee is just so ecstatic.

Yellowjackets - Werewolves HCs

I know absolutely no one asked for this, but I'm missing the Yellowjackets crew, and I've been binging a horror media all week, so here are my loose ideas for a werewolf AU as inspired by this post

Van & Taissa:

Obviously Van is the first one to turn, having been attacked by a rival werewolf during her side-quest with Tai, Mari, Akilah, and Misty like in the show

Tai also gets bitten in the process of helping Van heal/deal with her first transformation

From there, they spread the curse to the rest of the group, making them the leading alpha pair by proxy of "creating" the rest of the pack like alpha-parent pairs in the wild

Van struggles with the leadership role, considering herself more of a follower than a leader when in human form

Tai leans into it, being a natural leader in human form; although, since it was her idea to go on the side-quest that got Van bitten to begin with, she is more cautious when it comes to making decisions

Tai also gets more protective of the group as a whole, often herding them or biting their scruffs to keep them in place (i.e. safe) from rival wolves

Shauna:

Instantly embraces having a bigger, physically stronger body as a wolf

Uses it to unleash all of the compartmentalized anger and aggression she carries in human form, making her the most snappish of the group, bordering on feral

Consequently, she really struggles to submit to Tai and Van as the alpha pair, often testing their patience by trying to go off on her own or stealing scraps of their food

Has a lot of nicks on her body from Taissa constantly having to correct her behavior

Jackie:

The complete opposite as Shauna; she absolutely hates having a second body and the strangeness of having to navigate it

Is the most resistant to change in general, so her transformation process is particularly difficult

Stays in her human form as much as possible; only really shifts when there's conflict among the other wolves and they need a mediator to calm things down (especially because it's usually started by Shauna)

Since she's in human form so often, her social standing in the team/pack starts to decline, making her more submissive and subdued

Natalie:

Is resistant to the change at first, as she is resistant to the supernatural in general

Gradually starts to embrace having a wolf side when it proves useful in hunting/providing for the others

Starts to thrive because wolves naturally communicate via actions, which she prefers as someone who was raised on volatile emotions rather than rational words

Sometimes stays in wolf form just to vibe and show her affection for others, clambering on top of them or licking their muzzles when she's in a good mood

Mostly reverts to human form when she's upset, because it's easier to hide her emotions that way (although it quickly becomes a sign in and of itself that she's in a poor mood)

Misty:

Is absolutely enthralled with having a new, bigger body with better senses and strength

She is still the smallest of the group, so she compensates by being very vocal as a wolf, constantly yipping or howling

Shifts between human and wolf the most often, usually at random, because she does still value having human qualities when she needs to play group medic

As a human, she lacks a lot of social awareness for boundaries; as a wolf, that becomes even worse

Constantly inserts herself into others' personal space, butting her head or muzzle against theirs to see what they're doing or where they're going; consequently, she receives a lot of corrective behavior from the others, like nips to the ear or base of her tail

It works for about 5 seconds, then she's right back in their space

Laura Lee:

Absolutely hates shifting

Still views the entire situation of being stranded, and now forced to deal with transformations into another body, as some form of divine punishment

Like Jackie, mostly keeps to her human form whenever possible, and shifts only to play mediator when the others need it

However, unlike Jackie, her social standing doesn't suffer, since she has status by proxy of being friends with the likes of Van and Lottie

Lottie:

Is disorientated by the transformation process at first, wondering whether it's another symptom of her mental illness or withdrawal from her meds

Eventually accepts it, and is even comforted that she's not the only one suffering from strange phenomena for once

Due to her acceptance to change and the unknown, she is able to shift the most easily from one body to the other

She's the most attuned to the Wilderness as a human, so she has the best senses as a wolf; starts to accompany Natalie on hunts, wherein she tracks down the prey for Nat to kill

Is very anxious, so she is often scratching or grooming herself; her fur gets patchy around her paws from licking them so much

Builds a closer friendship with Natalie (from hunting together) and Van (for gifting her the bone-necklace), so they try to console her anxious habits, either by laying next to her or directly on top of her to keep her still

Travis:

Only embraces the change when Natalie does, especially since it proves so useful in hunting

Despite being a bigger size than the girls, he has the lowest social standing, since he was never officially on the team and thus, is considered an outsider to the instinctive pack dynamic

Mostly hovers at a distance from the girls during any gathering; however, he only exhibits outwardly submissive behavior like lowered ears and a tucked-in tail towards Van and Taissa, since they're the official alpha pair

Prefers to flee rather than fight during conflicts amongst the pack, only becoming aggressive when his hunting partners (Nat and Lottie) are involved
