(read more + this came from me and Eros's perspective, so its going to be filled with some answers and small tidbits of everyone. Be warned.)

BEST MATCHES

ZHONGLI: As he is a historian professor and has particular tastes for romantic matches, he's actually your safest pick in the list! He makes sure to know your dealbreakers, likes, dislikes, and even your preferences.

DAINSLEIF: Another "parent" figure/platonic choice for most people. The only difference, though, is that he sticks to one person and he doesn't really like being with someone romantically.

BAIZHU: He's a pharmacist and is the third of "he sees people platonically until he finds someone that he can be romantically with".

VENTI: Although he can be a bit questionable, he's still one of the (arguably) safer guys out there. Even if you two don't become an actual couple, he doesn't like hurting those he sees as 'uninvolved', so to speak. Although, it does depend if you'd be able to figure out his 'intent', or you'd dismiss it as one of his jokes.

KAEDEHARA KAZUHA: Kazuha normally should be on people's radars due to his past. After all, you'd never trust a man that is associated with one of the biggest 'scandals' that hurt Inazuma and how he lost his lineage. However, he isn't the worst as he can keep his ground and is mostly focused on exploring than hurting someone.

AETHER: Aether is... The same as Kazuha. Also, he doesn't really see his matches as anything romantically? He'd rather stick to it being a slow friends to potential lovers. (Eros says that he's like a guy who got lost upon getting to the corporation, and I can't help but agree. He's really nice, he's just... Yeah.)

FREMINET: He's the youngest of the triplets, but the danger he can possess is more of his charm. Still, I think whoever gets him has to keep him safe. As a diver, he works independently with the House of Hearth, but he also makes machinery! If you need someone to fix something for you, please contact him. He's the best mechanic you can find.

THOMA: Jack of all trades, master of none. He's just really nice, but protection is a bit... Well, it can be difficult, haha! If anything, I think the danger he has is more of his connections. He's working for the Kamisatos, and I hear that he has some ties to what goes down █████.

GOROU: He's... Uh, he's a veterinarian that trains dogs. Although, he's dangerous as a yandere if you end up getting on his bad side. After all, he had a bad past with Wriothesley and the others, so I can't exactly fault the guy. Just... Be safe.

WRIOTHESLEY: Just like Gorou, he can be very dangerous/bad if you get on his bad side. However, Wriothesley has the patience of the saint. He does accept one since he's a workaholic. (Eros told me he's married to his job, and I sometimes joke that we'll get an invitation for that).

DILUC RAGNIVINDR: Okay, I know this is absurd, but he's... Er, he has some history with Dawn Winery. We can't say too much, but he's not there, I guess. To be frank, he does give me the vibes of being obsessive... Which is weird.

KAEYA ALBERICH: ... Please don't ask us why.

SHIKANOIN HEIZOU: Detectives are pretty much master criminals in the making, honestly. I wouldn't trust a man as him if he suddenly tells you he wants to try something 'new' to catch criminals.

NEUVILLETTE: As the judge, you'd think he would be somewhat high up there, but... He's the same as Kaeya. Please don't ask.

KAMISATO AYATO: ... Sorry. We can't answer why he's here.

XIAO: Same as Ayato, Neuvillette, and Kaeya. (Sheesh, we got some that are TOTAL red flags...)

ALBEDO: He's a bit decent and has a good head on his shoulders, but I don't exactly trust him. Who knows when a chemist may make something that can potentially hurt someone? Well, I doubt he could, but... be careful.

LYNEY: A magician has his secrets, but we don't exactly know Lyney's. Although, knowing his track record, we have our reasons why he's here. Let's just say he's as two-faced as Kaeya, okay?

TIGHNARI: Oh, come on! A ranger who can specialize in forests is like... A disaster waiting to happen. He's also got a mean streak, so good luck.

CYNO: The same as Ayato.

ALHAITHAM: ... Actually, I don't know why he's here. We decided he won't be but... Maybe that incident is why he's here.

IL DOTTORE: Ayato. Please look at his answer there. And Albedo's. That's our conclusion.

"CHILDE": He reeks danger. Please, to whoever gets him run. We cannot tell you why, just run. Don't answer his phone, don't answer the door, just run and don't be a sitting duck.

WANDERER: Do you want to die? No, seriously. Do you? He's the worst of all these men. If you get him... We wish you luck. Because we don't want to be anywhere near him.

There’s Scratch/Todd, a ghost (the blue ghost with the big nose) who separated from his body that literally “gave up the ghost” and eventually goes back to his body (Todd) that was kinda on auto pilot after being separated. Not only is both this character’s ghost and human design is cute, but I relate to his character the most and helped pull me out of a dark place at the time when the series first started. So he means a lot to me.

Master Shake, a giant talking, narcissistic and selfish milkshake that was an experiment from a mad scientist. Shake was my first of Dana crushes since I use to stay up late at night watching the show as a kid.

Baby Ball is a crass and cynical game ball that’s apart of a post-apocalyptic world were him and his teammates fight other players. His design is simple and cute, especially his gap teeth!

Danger Planet, a sentient arcade cabinet who gets stranded on a planet who protects a human baby that him and another bot found from, well, a dangerous planet. He only showed up in a cartoon pilot but his excitement for every thing is adorable!

Gazpacho is a woolly mammoth fruit fruit vendor that wants to be a stand up comedian who lives with his overbearing mother. He’s big and pathetic but also great with kids!

Question Hound is a comic character that you might recognize as the “Everything Is Fine” meme who Dana voiced in an TV bumper and then had a spin off comic.

Now this one character (the green octopus looking alien) only shows up in one episode but was named “Puppet Master” on his character sheet but his story is that he was exiled on a moon for crimes against the universe and puppets people into being his friend out of loneliness.

And then there’s Dr. Colosso, an evil villain from a live action sitcom who got turned into a bunny and forced to live with a family of superheroes. He’s very hammy and over the top which makes him fun to watch!

Angel Dust doesn’t know where these gifts keep coming from, and he’s dying to know because his storage room’s almost fucking overflowing with letters and gifts. At least his secret admirer was nice enough to be genuine with the contents of the letters, unlike what he usually receives from his creepy stalkers. A/n: I wrote 1.2k of this and hated it so I had to scrap it and go another direction.

When you own a bakery, there is nothing more satisfying than having to restock a tray of sold-out goods. The tray of strawberry shortcake rolls only got sent out an hour but now, not even crumbs remain on the doily-lined platter. Carefully remove the old sheet and replace it with a new one. The sweet scent of sliced strawberries and sugar fills your nose as you take a deep breath, wondering how quickly these will sell out.

The bell on the inside of the bakeries door chimes merrily, and a voice calls to you from the entrance. “It looks like you’ve got mail,”

The cheery tone brings a smile to your face as you see Anne, one of your bakery’s part-time employees, coming toward you; in her hand is a pink and red striped envelope that makes your heart flutter.

“They sent another one?” you say softly, feeling your cheeks heat up. Over the past few months, you have received dozens of little notes and letters from what people around you call a secret admirer.

These little notes are filled with lovely written compliments and praises that have filled you with confidence and have brought a new kind of light into your life. 

“they did! You should open it and see what they said today. I think it is so cute that you have a secret admirer like that.” She says, handing the letter to you. “Don’t you wonder what they look like?”

“I’m curious for sure, but so many people come in here all the time it’s hard to narrow it down to one suspect.” You say, toying with the seal on the envelope

The truth is that who they are doesn’t matter much to you, not when you already have feelings for someone else. Someone you are sure would never have to resort to sending anonymous love letters. 

“Or are you just not interested because of a certain Pro Hero customer that comes in here all the time.” she giggles, dodging out of the way of your playful swat with ease. 

“Tamaki Amajiki is just a customer,” you mutter. “He’s one of the Top Pro Heroes; he can have anyone he wants; I don’t stand a chance.”

She frowns at your self-deprecation slightly before bumping your shoulder. “You can be so blind sometimes. I’m gonna go clock in; tell me what the letter says once you read it.”

“Maybe,” you tease gently, opening the envelope and opening the crisp parchment. The carefully penned handwriting stares back at you as you read.

Your smile is just as sweet as your baking. They both radiate warmth and are made with love.

My day gets a bit brighter every time I walk into your bakery. 

Maybe one day I may feel bold enough to tell you all these things in person, but for now, I hope these notes suffice.

~Your Secret Admirer

You reread the letter a few times, letting the sincere compliments fill you with joy. If you ever find out who your secret admirer is, you will be sure to slip them freebies whenever you can. Even if you can’t return their feelings.

The entry bell rings again, and you jump a bit, sliding the envelope under the countertop before the customer comes in. A figure wearing a long white cape with gold accents on the hood walks carefully across your clean floors.

Your day just got one hundred times better. “Hey there, Suneater.” you beam, giving the pro hero your best smile.

“H-hey y/n, it’s good to see you,” he says, his eyes already eagerly scanning the display case for what catches his eye today. Unlike your other regulars who stick to buying the same couple of pastries every time they visit, he likes to order a variety, wanting to try something different every time. It keeps you on your toes and inspires you to bring in new desserts as often as you can.

“What are we thinking today?” you ask, making an awkward little gesture with your hands at the large variety of sweets in front of you.

He smiles softly, chuckling a bit at your actions. “Could I get one of these, one of those, and one of each of the cream puff flavors?” he asks. “Is there anything else you recommend?”

“The new shortcake rolls have been doing well.” you smile, pointing to the pristine tray you just restocked. “I know how much you like strawberries.”

He looks a bit surprised that you remembered that about him, but he thanks you anyways, walking over to the coffee station to fill his cup.

 Your eyes scan your large display case, searching for the best-looking pastries to give to the shy hero. Although it takes longer, you grab ones from the middle that look the best to place carefully into his pink and brown spotted pastry box.

Throwing in several extra pasties and meat buns for good measure

Sure, it may be irresponsible to give away so many products for free, but sneaking him food is the only way you can express your feelings for him.

“Here you go,” you smile, placing the box in front of him as he taps his credit card against your card reader.

“Excuse me, uh y/n.” he says, looking into his box of pastries, “I think you may have miscounted; I only asked for one of each.”

“No, I didn’t miscount.” you smile, “I just wanted to pack you a little something extra today since you’ve been working so hard. You’re my best customer, after all.”

He gives you the most adorable smile as the tips of his pointy ears turn pink, “I think Fat is really your best customer, but-”

“Tamaki,” you sigh, using his first name without thinking and pushing the box closer to him, “Take the freebies; you deserve it.”

“R-really? Thank you then.” he smiles, his eyes never leaving your own. “I’ll see you later, y/n.”

“Thank you for coming in,” you mumble, watching as he takes your carefully packaged box and leaves you with your thoughts.

One week later, you are getting ready to close up for the night, sweeping the floor with frustrated concentration. 

You didn’t receive a letter today, 

And Tamaki hasn’t come into the bakery in a week.

Is it possible that your secret admirer has lost interest in you and your crush is avoiding you?

You are so wrapped up in your thoughts you don’t notice the uneven cart of ingredients in your path. You bump it slightly, sending a bag of powdered sugar tumbling to the ground. It immediately bursts at the seams, sending a thick cloud of white powder into the air.

“Shit,” you yelp, inhaling the cloud of sugar in the air. The sweetness overwhelms you and sends you into a fit of coughing. Sugar gets everywhere, your hair, your eyes, up your nose. You can’t see anything, and the sensation burns as you try to wipe it away blindly.

“Are you okay?” Voice calls from the entrance.

“No, I need help, “you cough. The voice sounds so familiar you feel that you can trust them in your time of need.

You hear rustling as your savior comes towards you. “I-it’s okay, I am here.” They say, gently taking your hand and wiping away the sugar from your face with a gentle touch. It takes a few seconds for you to blink away the last bit of the product, but then you see the handsome yet concerned face of Tamaki Amajiki. 

“Suneater?” You say, coughing, wiping a tear from your cheek.

“What happened?” He asks, “Are you hurt?”

“I’m fine, just a bit clumsy. “You explain cleaning a bit more of the powdered sugar off of you. “I accidentally knocked over a bag of sugar, and it did not feel great to breathe in.”

“That sounds like something you would do,” he says, giving you a sweet wobbly smile, his violet eyes still looking over you carefully. If he notices the coating of sugar on your skin, he doesn’t mention it.

“Thank you for helping me, but what are you doing here? I thought you came in already today.”

He looks around nervously, his hand balled up in a fist. “Well, it’s just that I-I,” he starts to say, but then you notice some things sticking out of his pocket. A very familiar-looking red and white striped envelope.

In an instant, you reach for it, pulling it away from him before he can react. These are the envelopes your secret admirer uses. “Is it you? Have you been the one leaving these letters?”

He casts his eyes to the sugar-coated ground and nods.

Your heart feels as if it is going to burst out of your chest; not only has the customer you have been crushing on for a year been your secret admirer. But why does he look so sad?

“I’m so sorry.”

“Why are you sorry?” you ask. 

“You were probably expecting someone else,” he sighs, giving you a look that makes your heart want to break. “Someone more confident and capable than me.”

‘Is he serious?’ you think to yourself, ‘Tamaki Amajiki is one of the most amazing people you have ever met. How is it possible that someone who builds your confidence so easily with his words struggles so deeply with his own?’

“Tamaki, I haven’t thought about anyone else. I liked you even before the letters,” you say, taking his hand and giving it a soft little squeeze.

His features light up with hope as he begins to realize that you like him too. 

“Then would you maybe want to get dinner tonight?” he asks, his voice coming out steady and comfortable.

“Well, first, I need to go home and shower, but after that, I would love to.” you laugh, glancing at your reflection in the mirror. 

“Maybe we should skip the dessert then; I think we have had a bit too much sugar today.” He quips boldly, sending the both of you into a fit of laughter.

As Jungwon entered the school's premises, he made sure to check no one was there. Not yet at least. Looking around to see if the coast was clear, he took out his letter from his bag and quickly made his way to your locker. Looking back once more, he slipped in the letter and went off to the student council office.

On his way to the office, he heard a familiar voice call out his name

"Jungwon-ah!" Niki. It completely slipped his mind that his friends come to school early for practice. "How'd it go with the letter for y/n?"

"Letter?"

"For y/n?"

"Why didn't you tell us!" Sunghoon said, great. Now his whole friend group knows! Jungwon shot a glare at Niki, who was slow to realize what he had just done.

"Oopsie?"

It was nearing the end of 3rd period and you were awaiting for the bell to ring. In all honesty, you just wanted to go get lunch and admire your class president from afar.

The moment the ball rang students poured out of their current classes and filled the once empty hallways, making it cramped. Some were excitedly making their way to lunch and some were dreading their next class. You were luckily making your way to lunch.

Opening your locker and grabbing your lunch, you saw something fall on the ground. It was an envelope stamped with a heart. You being the curious person you are, you opened it. A letter? You were taken aback. Sure you were popular and had many guys desperately trying to court you, but no one had ever thought to give you a love letter. All the guys who had tried to get with you were quite...interesting and disrespectful. But this? This was surely something else.

"Dear y/n, hopefully this doesn't sound too creepy and strange but I just wanted to let you know that you looked really pretty in english today. I mean — you look pretty everyday. You make my heart skip beats whenever I see you. Thanks for lending me your pen by the way, pompompurin is my favorite character! Hopefully this won't make us too awkward and I hope you don't find out my identity...yet. I hope you liked the stickers I put! I tried picking out what you would like and such. But anyway! I hope you know how much I admire you from afar. Despite my busy schedule at school, I tend to think about you whenever I feel tired — which makes me happy. I hope you know that. The reason why I admire you is because you care a lot about people, whenever you pass by the office to visit your friend you always give food and snacks to us. Making sure that we eat properly. So thank you. I've been crushing on you for a while and I've seen your character and how nice you are to others. I've never had the guts to talk to you so by this I hope we're able to somehow get to know each other. Maybe once I reveal myself I'll ask you out..."

As you read the letter, you were flustered by how much thought was put into it. It was neatly decorated with stickers and the penmanship was gorgeous. One problem however, It was left anonymously. There was nothing signed off at the bottom, no signature nor initial. So, who could this be? You were curious but yet somewhat excited for more letters to fill your locker.

Your thoughts however were quickly interrupted by beomgyu, yelling out your name. God, he may be your friend but he sure was loud...and annoying

"Y/n! What's taking you so long huh? Another boy you rejected?" He yells, laughing at his statement. It was true that you did tend to take your time before lunch. It was either you were touching up makeup or another boy decided to confess to you.

"Nah! I'll be there in a bit gyu!" You yelled back

You smiled to yourself before putting back the letter in your locker and grabbed what you originally came for. Curiosity filled your mind as you made your way to the lunch room, but you had a feeling you knew who it was..

Thoughts on Spring & A New Series 💌🌸💭

🌸 Spring is the season of life and rebirth. The world is being reawakened as Persephone returns to her mother. Students are finishing school for the term, flower shops and farmer's markets are opening, and overall, there's an excited buzz in the air.

🌸 Spring is also the season of love, despite commercial belief. Victor Hugo writes, "If people did not love one another, I really don't see what the use there would be in having any spring." He's right—spring is the season for budding relationships, making amends with people, and starting anew. 

💭 As a black, queer femme in America, spring has always felt like a precursor to my official return from hibernation. The time needed to perfect my summer wardrobe and to find the lotion-oil-perfume combination that will last me all day and leave me enticing and moisturized for hours. As a writer, spring is the season in which I am most inspired by the world around me. I begin to write love letters to the Earth and to the mundane, which leads me to a very special project I've been planning. 

 

Black Girl Notes presents "Love Letters: All the Things We Wish to Say." From April 29th through May 31st, I will be hosting a series that seeks to promote healthy, effective communication with the underlying goal of healing ourselves and building interpersonal community. The first installment of the "Love Letters" series is "Love Letters: To Our Dearly Departed."

 

While spring is the season of renaissance, it is not absolved from death. In my short twenty-four years, I have experienced death more during springtime than any other season. Using my experience as a basis, I think as we begin to transition from spring to summer, we should help heal the traumas of losing those who may have transitioned from life far too soon.

 

💌 "Love Letters" will begin with an opportunity to share an anonymous letter with your dearly departed loved ones. A link to a form to write anything you wish to say to someone you may have lost will be posted here on this blog, as well as on my Substack under the Black Girl Notes tab and on my Instagram (@terizahh, @shop.nellmaria, and @theeriscompany). If you choose to write a letter to a loved one, you will be given the option of receiving a response from me. I am not a licensed therapist, and I simply want to help ease pain and build community. 

 

When I was young and grieving the loss of my adoptive mother and eventually my biological mother, I found solace in online communities. My responses will simply be an expression of understanding and sharing that I will always be there for those who may need a shoulder to cry on.

 

💭 The form for submitting a letter to a loved one will remain open until May 3rd. On May 3rd, I will be sharing a post about Death and the Black Community, which will be available to read in full on Substack. Each week, a new "Love Letters" topic will be shared with the opportunity to leave a letter to those who you wish to be able to speak to.

 

Finally, at the end of the series, we will have a celebration of love in all its forms, from families to friends to relationships to finding ourselves. There will be Substack exclusive interviews with some amazing people throughout this series whose stories will hopefully inspire and encourage you.
