WoG & (fan)casting in The Locked Tomb

I think I saw some interview with Tamsyn that she thought specifically of Taika Waititi when writing Jod.  The TLT podcast that’s currently stomping through NtN has interviewed with Muir’s IRL information source on HEMA (Lissa Harris), who became the basis for Gideon, but obviously that’s not a casting.

At peak visual imagination, I’ve probably thought of a younger Emma Thompson for Mercymourn (late 90s with a David Bowie haircut),

The closest thing I can think of for Protestilaus is like, Tom Hardy or Nicholas Hoult in a parody of the production of a Hollywood power-fantasy body.  

Much like with Worm for Our Lady of Escalation, it is nigh-impossible to cast Harrow or Gideon from known actors.  I know some people would reach for Aubrey Plaza as the Reverend Daughter because of her past goth/alt presentations, but I think she’s too old for the role?  Jenna Ortega is another obvious pick, and I definitely think she should be IN GtN, but Ok, she’s actually definitely young enough, FINE.

KJ Apa would be funny as Naberius. No notes there!

It would be unnecessarily on the nose to make Margot Robbie Alecto, so I say Gwendoline Christie.  We know she can do menace from GoT and Sandman.

Also, to blow people’s minds: Christina Hendricks as Wake.  Yes, it would probably irritate a certain mutual that she be underused in this way, but one of the central temptresses of the books is necessarily much less vital if you know what I mean.

The terrible teens are, more than Harrow or Gideon, necessarily obscure actors.  Anyone that knows child actors feel free to weigh in.

Although, SPEAKING of child actors: Evanna Lynch (who you first met as Luna Lovegood) as Ianthe Tridentarius! You’re welcome!

MY HAZBIN HOTEL FANCAST

now, this is mostly a human au for obvious reasons. whether you want it to be an out of hell matter, a simple “imagining them with all the makeup and/or cgi needed” matter, or a them before death matter (when it makes sense, like for example it wouldn’t work in charlie’s case) doesn’t really matter to me. therefore, this is mostly based off vibes rather than true visual attributes most of the time. i also tried my best to get faceclaims who have some sort of singing abilities because hazbin hotel is supposed to be a musical of some sorts, after all.

i purposefully kind of went out of my way to find a young faceclaim, like in her early twenties, because many of the best choices i have seen for charlie otherwise, like evanna lynch or margot robbie, are past their thirties already, and i thought giving a younger option would be better. i was pretty torn on who to choose, however, since i also thought of elle fanning, huening bahiyyih, and grace van dien for the role. they may also work as alternative faceclaims if you are not feeling amybeth! the reason why i chose her over the others is because i could not find any clip of grace van dien singing, elle fanning’s singing voice does not fit charlie much in my opinion, and (as you will see later) i have already chosen a k-pop idol for one of the later castings which may have been redundant if i chose huening bahiyyih, plus from what i know her english is not super fluent. amybeth mcnulty hasn’t sang much, but she has two covers of riptide (here and here) and one of would you be so kind (here), from which i have come to the conclusion her voice could probably fit charlie just fine.

lizeth selene as vaggie

obviously, i looked for latina actresses for this role. i encourage finding a salvadoran faceclaim if you can, but i couldn’t find any that have proper resources around (and who fit the whole “could be in a musical” thing), hence why i settled with a mexican faceclaim instead. i apologize for that. lizeth selene is a singer as well as an actress, and i think she works voice wise honestly (examples here and here). she also speaks both english and italian, as does vaggie.

jamie campbell bower as alastor

i feel alastor’s fancast may be what many people who come across this post are looking for, and i therefore i apologize if it ends up being disappointing. i feel the voice is very important when choosing someone for alastor, as a big part of his charm comes from that. jamie campbell bower has a gorgeous speaking voice, and so i thought why not? he has shown to be capable of performing similar roles before, and i think a more playful twist to them such as alastor’s character could be great. he is also a pretty good singer, considering he has his own music career after all (examples here and here). if that isn’t any good, though, you can maybe relate on the popular fancasts that are bill skarsgård and johnny depp. if you want a poc twist on alastor, though, then allow me to also suggest hwang hyunjin (korean),  yamazaki kento (japanese) or marwan kenzari (tunisian).

troye sivan as angel dust

again, this choice was chosen over another for the sake of not being redundant. another definite choice was holland, who is a singer, an actor, a person of color (korean) and is gay on top of that too, but i didn’t want to put more than one k-pop idol among the main chosen cast, so i went with troye sivan instead. i, as a queer person, do not mind non-queer people portraying queer characters at all, but i thought troye just fit, so the fact he is gay too is just a bonus, to be honest. plus, some are made uncomfortable by non-gay men portraying gay men, so this may help them, too. i actually found out troye has acted in some works before, such as ‘qantas, I still call australia home’ and ‘three months’, so that may help with making him a good choice. that aside, he is a singer, which is what he is most known for, and i think his voice actually kind of fits angel dust. it is very far from his original voice, let me clear up, but i could still see angel sounding like that nonetheless (examples here and here). and honestly? he just looks the part. i will give the credit, though, to @darkhendra​ and specifically this post of theirs for the idea.

jamie doesn’t have any professional acting experience to my knowledge, but she has the looks for the part and the voice, in my opinion. some examples of the latter include her cover of monster by red velvet (watch here) and gangsta by kehlani (watch here), which really fit cherri’s overall vibe in my opinion. overall, i think she’s a good choice, and i like the concept of an east asian cherri anyway, since we do not get enough badass asian rep that isn’t super fetishizing in media, with a few exceptions in recent works.

I’m like 60 hours into a completionist run with my canon Inquisitor, Evanna, a human mage with an OC love interest.

BUT

since DA:4 was officially announced as “Dreadwolf” today, I finally caved and made a Solas-mancer Inquisitor.

That said, I didn’t want to make him too comfortable. So she’s a rogue rather than a mage, and actually an adoptee/convert to the Dalish. 

Her mother was an Orlesian servant who saw something likely to get her killed and fled to the Dalish with her young daughter in a desperate attempt to stay alive.

Her name is Helene Lavellan, originally Hélène Mercier. Her original surname, being the product of her family’s long association as servants to an Orlesian in the textile trade, was easily discarded. Her mother’s skill at spinning and sewing still lead Helene to take June’s Vallaslin, to honor her roots.

She was sent to the conclave because she has a stoic, cautious personality, she’s fluent and literate in both Common and Orlesian, and she has more experience than many in the Lavellan in the clan directly dealing with humans. 

But again, not wanting to make it too easy on Solas to rectify with his own world views, she has no magical talent what so ever and is not only Dalish, but also somewhat city-elf adjacent. 

She’s also gonna get really pissed off at him.:)

Eventually I’m gonna make her some really nice daggers and name them Vallasahin (”Now is come the setting sun”) and Theneras (”Dream”).

Pass: When Myleen was born, she was next in line to become the ice princess. In the Moonstone Kingdom. She is pretty much the leader of all toads. In the Moonstone Kingdom. But however. It wasn't always that. When Myleen was born. She had a lot of trouble. Fitting in. at a young age. She didn't always made friends. Because, she was next in line to be a Snow Princess. That have an ability. To make flowers beautiful and pretty young again. She didn't exprencess this, until she was a toddler. Her mother always wanted to have nice flowers around her castle. The Icy Snow Kingdom. It was always snowing, and have lots of ice. As a young baby toad. She lived in the ice snow kingdom. All the way until she turned, 18. (Will come up with the more of the pass real soon)

Present: When Myleen was a teen, it was her dream to explore. All the ice worlds and lands. She been wanting to do this. Ever since she got older. So, when she turned 18, she went to explore the world. For more than 9 years. But at the 9 year mark. It was time for her to move out of her family's home. And find a place to stay. When Myleen, was struggling to look for a place. She had a very hard time. That all the snow homes was completely sold out. She thought she had to stay with her family. But then. A young koopaling by the name of Beatrice. Was visiting, she saw Myleen. Struggling looking for a place. They met a a coffee shop (looking for the applications to find a place to stay) She never had this problem before. When the koopaling was visiting the coffee shop. She notice Myleen was having a hard time looking for a place. The young koopaling decided to help her out. Looking for a place for her to stay. Where she wanted to stay. It was full. Until the young koopaling took out an appellations for a Kingdom. Called the Moonstone Kingdom. Where there was so many place to stay. Even a winter home. (It isn't called the Moonstone Kingdom for nothing) Myleen loved how the place look like. So, the young koopaling . Told Myleen to follow her. To the Moonstone Kingdom. After 1 hour, they found the Kingdom. The place was so beautiful. It was so nice, that Myleen. Started crying tears of Joy. She thanks Beatrice a lot. That she gave her a hug. So, Myleen And Beatrice walk around the Moonstone Kingdom. Looking for a mushroom house. The house was empty and very nice and roomie. It also snowed over there 24/7. It was perfect place for her. So after finding the nice house. Myleen, had to go search for some furniture, for her house. (This is when, Myleen met Mirla) Mirla hooked her up, with lots of white and blue funturan. It matches her house perfectly. After getting everything set up. She got a call from her father. Saying, come to the Snow ice kingdom. They have a surprise for her. So, she drove some kind of Kart. To the icy Kingdom. When she came home. She got a call at the hospital. That she have a youngest baby sister name. Sunya, she was just born. Sunya is very attached to her big sisters Moa and Mylee. She was the youngest, and someday. Become a snow toad teacher. When she gets older. (She's the only snow toad in the Icy Snow Kingdom) Mylee And Moa loved their baby sister. And will keep her safe. They even will visit Mylee in the Moonstone Kingdom.

Future: When Myleen was 20 years old, she was crowned as the Snow Princess of the toads. And all the ice lands in the Moonstone Kingdom. After many years later, Myleen, never forgot about the koopaling that help her out. Looking for a place. She then start to have feelings for the koopaling. But couldn't never find her in the Moonstone Kingdom. She may be the Snow Princess of all of the ice lands. But she is empty without a lover. So, She had her middle sister Moa. Cover for her in the Moonstone Kingdom. While she is looking for the koopaling. It too her weeks or even months to find the koopaling. But she still haven't had any luck. But then, one of her closes' friends. Seen the young koopaling. Visiting The restaurant. With her twin sister. Beatrice, seem to be down for some reason. She also wanted to be with Myleen. She developed feelings for her. After a few years ago. Looking for a place for her. So at the restaurant, Myleen. Was getting some food. Until Beatrice, noticed Mylee voice. When she order some ice cream. For dessert. And a very nice snow meal. Beatrice sister encourage her, to go sit with her. Beatrice, was blushing. When Myleen was on her phone. Beatrice asked is this seat taking? Myleen say yeah, and she slowly looked up. And her mouth drop down. Myleen finally found the koopaling she was looking for. Myleen had nothing else to say, and she ran in the bathroom. With her face very red. Myleen didn't know how to act. She was blushing and smiling at the same time at the bathroom. She had to wash her face off. Since she is so in love right now. She needs to relax, she then start to cry tears of joy in the bathroom. She is crying tears of joy so much. That there was a puddle under the bathroom door. Myleen never been this happy in her life before. Even when she seen her baby sister Sunya. Who knew a toad would get this excited. So after 30 minutes of calming down. She man up, and went back to her set. Myleen was so happy to see Beatrice. They both start to look at each other, and began to fall in love. Myleen slowy put her hand down on the table. While Beatrice, put her hand on Myleen's hand. Myleen was blushing so hard, Then Beatrice, wrap her hand around Myleen's hand. They both blushed. And then they hugged. Beatrice twin sister, never looked so happy for her twin sister. She finally found a lover.

face: Describe your OC's face. What's their smile like? Are their orbs cerulean? What would someone notice first when looking at them?

Lore is pretty. Even with all the sith corruption and the hauntingly red eyes, she's obviously quite young and pretty. She's got soft features, a round face, long eyelashes, thin eyebrows, obvious scarring on the left side of her neck that reaches up to her face.

Her smile is sweet. She's got the polite professional smile she shows during work, but if she smiles outside of that context it's always genuine and always reaches her eyes as well. Her orbs are not cerulean but rather scarlet, and like the princess she is they do change in shade. Regardless of everything, she looks approachable. If you were lost you'd ask her the way.

favorite: Does your OC have a favorite article of clothing or accessory? What is it? What's the meaning behind it? Do they wear it all the time or do they wear it sparingly to keep it safe?

Other than the obvious answer of weapon, Lorentz does love all her accesoires. She has head jewelry with a gem, necklace with moons/stars, and some armbands and bracelets. They're definitely part of the trinkets she collects, and they help conduct her force lightning to make it focused. Andronikos always keeps an eye out for shiny things to gift her and probably even already has a ring he eventually wants to propose with because he's a sap.

Lore doesn't believe in not using something to keep it safe, so she wears it all. She is the person to forever treasure small gifts.

Taylor

armor: What kind of armor does your OC wear? Is it well kept? Bonus: where does it come from? Is there a story behind it?

Taylor does love her heavy armor. When she finally gets her warden armor, she actually falls in love with it. She does keep good care of it, even if she doesn't particular care if it's super shiny etc. There isn't really a story of how she got it. However, every armor she wears goes combined with her moms old boots. She basically inherented those. They are old but indestructable and while it does look silly to wear pretty light brown leather boots under heavy armor, Taylor has kept it up.

roots: Is your OC's look inspired by any specific style of clothing or fashion trend? What are the roots and/or inspiration for their look?

I wish I knew enough about fashion to actually be inspired by a certain trend. What can I offer instead.. Taylor mostly wears androgenous clothing? That mostly started with not wanting attention, but then she was most comfortable in those types of clothes, loose fitting and earthy tones, so she didn't see a reason to change it.

Evanna

glance: At first glance, what stands out most about your OC's appearance? What's their distinguishing feature?

Other than her being pretty tall, Evanna's hair is her distinguishing feature. Flowy, long, wavy, brown and always in danger of catching on fire. She learns to put it in a ponytail when she's actually throwing fire balls around soon enough.

Other than that she's got pretty strong features over all. Big dark eyebrows, beautiful nose, round cheeks.

wardrobe: How big is your character's wardrobe? Do they wear things threadbare, or can they afford new clothes often? Are they any good at mending and repairing their own clothing?

For being a fashionista, Evanna's wardrobe isn't that elaborate. She found/made a few things she liked and stuck to them. She would wear things threadbare, but then (magically?) mend them and re-use fabric for other projects. She also fixes clothes for friends.

“ Are they your sisters, Adam?” Harmony asked she was biting on her nails softly and her nerves were on high alert. Adam nodded, as three beautiful girls came forward.

One by one, each stood in front of the young couple. Adam pointed at each sister as he named them.

“ This is Maria” he pointed to a beautiful female with red hair, green eyes, and an olive skin tone. She was surely a sight to look at.

Next was a beautiful heart-shaped face female, with brown hair.

Her name was Rosy, and she was such a sweetheart. Next, he pointed to a beautiful female with aqua blue eyes. Her name was Evanna and she was also nice.

Adam looked at his beloved.“ I have a brother as well, but we will meet them later. For now, let us enjoy this beautiful day out ”.

Harmony was excited, they had finally announced the diamond of the season. Edwina was it and her sister Kate was thrilled. But the thing was, She and her brother Anthony did not get along well.

Right now she was roaming the halls of their home, a lot on her mind. She didn't understand something.

Why was there to be a diamond?

She didn't understand any rules in this community at all, she may was born here but she did not live her.

Mrs. Bridgerton looked at her daughter with a worried facial expression. “ What is it?”.
