To be honest most of my blorbos have committed maybe one or two of these, and in the least "criminal" way possible (such as forging their mom's signature on their permission slip). But I do have a few more active criminals out here:

I haven't completely decided what Marigold has done so the purple is for sure and the blue is possible. Also diversity win: they're both lesbians <3

im curious about peoples choices for the dream guardian!

like, the emperor says he chose a form he thought the pc would trust. but where did that info come from? was it just assumptions on the emperors part, or did he have some amount of access to the pcs mind/memories already that allowed him to make a more informed decision?

for my 3 pcs i went in different directions:

marigold, my main tav, got a dream guardian that was simply presented in a way they would be more likely to trust. the emperor only got access to vague vibes which is lucky for him, because if he had tried to remind marigold of someone specific they would have immediatly clocked it. so the dream guardian presented as a friendly and warm figure, desperate for help. they approach the dream guardian and later the emperor with good will, but have no problem adjusting their stance on him based on what they learn later.

for aeris, my side tav, the emperor had a certain amount of access to their memories, but not enough context to make an informed decision. so the dream guaridan ended up resembling an authority figure from aeris past that was a mother-figure for them. however the emperor did not know that it was not a positive relationship and aeris is already a suspicious and cynical person. so rather than be endearing to aeris, they immediatly mistrusted the dream guardian. the emperor had no chance with them.

my durge, enlian, got a tough deal. the emperor had full access to his memories and deliberately sought out people he loved. those ended up being people from his childhood before bhaal interfered. his dream guardian ended up being a carbon copy of his adoptive mother (who he did not conciously remember at this point) and enlian immediatly trusted the dream guardian despite his hesitations at the advice he recieved... the emperor however immediatly lost all trust when enlian learned of the deception.

From what I understand, it appears Dr. Samuel Webber murdered his ex-wife because she'd moved on! still has the same surname but she has moved out. So yeah, this guys NOT okay, then he decides to get scratched up in a garden!

Said garden is "growing wild around the ruins of some bombed-out church." that smells of "an almost overwhelming sickly-sweet rot", and he keeps smelling jasmine.

One of my notes for this episode is "gradual acceptance, embraced end"

my favourite part of this statement, a part that really cements the Strangeness and Acceptance (man really said If i'm gonna become Tree i'm gonna Do It Right);

"my skin is pulling away nicely like blanched tomatoes. My legs will be nonresponsive soon. I need to finalise my position before then ... The roots have freed themselves from the weight of my meat as it sags from my bones and drops to the dirt."

Round 1: Rahal vs. Marigold

Had a whole lot of character thoughts last night so I think I'm gonna dump them all into one quick post:

Now that I've changed things so Marcus has a nice little polycule I think some pretty bad shit went down to get him to remove himself from the planet. I have a sense of what that might be but I'm left asking myself why his mom is just actually the worst. Unless I can think of a new angle I don't wanna do "royalty generational trauma" again and it's also not quite "absolute power corrupts absolutely" but there could still be some corruption with non-absolute power. The question is what does she really want and why

Marcus likes his Rade friends for themselves but it is hard to overstate how much Horatio reminds him of Gren and how this has been a catalyst in the development of their relationship. Not everyone reminds him of someone but Celia also gives him Yera vibes

Avis one million percent thinks that Antony is wrong and she will be completely fine being alone on the ocean 95% of the time. She did it before but now she's not gonna be stewing about Sorian the whole time so it will be great. But she truly does not realize the extent to which the people she thinks are alone (Sorian, who refuses to be with anyone but her) are not alone at all (gee, Sorian, how come your bad choices let you have TWO families?). And I think after 6-12 months of Freedom TM she finds herself moving back into other people's orbits, including Sorian's. I think I can get them back together at this point. There's just no way to do it in AOM because she's still getting the "I squandered 15 years not verbally abusing my husband" out of her system.

She also doesn't believe that Sorian is completely fine with being single actually. In fact she frequently doesn't believe anything anyone tells her but just in different ways

The plot of Lexie's story is her having a bad time with her job or whatever, not having fun ever, and then Marigold shows up and her life is only fun. The whole time Lexie keeps joking that Marigold is bad for her. Wylie says she is but Wylie projects his anxieties. Derik says she is but Derik is a killjoy. Snap says she might be which is about as certain as he ever is but he doesn't even know her. But finally, maybe before they get into stuff that is very bad, she has to admit that yeah, Marigold IS bad for her and they should go their separate ways. But that won't stop her from saving Marigold later when she gets in some kind of trouble

Boa Sandersonia (Kuja Pirates)

— She is the cutest of the Kuja Pirates and I will not be taking any criticism on that point. She's also very tall and can transform into a hot snake lady. She can control her hair to turn it into 8 snakes.

Boa Marigold (Kuja Pirates)

— She is the youngest of the Boa sisters and I feel like people forget she was only 13 years old when she escaped slavery. She's fat and buff and beautiful and can transform into a buff snake lady. She can control her hair and light it on fire to turn it into two huge flaming snakes.

Also, by request a couple weeks ago: Psychonauts AU Dr Reyes! I feel like her plot would be that she’s very recently discovered a latent telekinetic ability during time spent on archaeological digs; she found deposits of Psitanium and started manifesting a bright orange telekinetic hand! She’s not a Psychic Agent of any sort, but maybe gets called on sometimes to aid the Psychonauts with archaeological expertise with regards to ancient psychic artefacts and finds.

I think she’d have a fucking fun time tbh.

4, 11, 15 for the manga asks?

4. An underrated gem 2023 answer: My Dear Detective on Azuki! (And Usotoki Rhetoric is very similar.) Detective stories set in early modern (~1930s) Japan, with a smart female lead and funny male supporting character! (And Shonen Jump shoutout to Akane-banashi and MamaYuyu) And Stella Next to Me was recommended to me and it's very sweet so far! General answer: Well. I mean I have my reasons, but Captain Corinth is actually a pretty decent isekai-type story that avoids a lot of (though not quite all) the things that annoy me about other isekai.

11. Your favorite covers 2023 answer: A whole bunch kept catching my eye. Usotoki Rhetoric, The Summer Hikaru Died, Wind Breaker, and Correspondence with the Universe. (Have only read Usotoki Rhetoric so far but I recently bought the others) OH and Qualia Under the Snow is so pretty (and good)! OOH and also the cover of Erio to Denki Ningyou really makes me want to read itttt

General answer: All the colors and contrast on Ajin! Kaiju No. 8 as well. And the gradients on To Your Eternity.

15. The manga that made you laugh the most 2023 answer: I read a lot of Asobi Asobase. I wish more of it was in the anime, I think it fits that medium really well. Equal parts humor and 'wtf'. General answer: The first one that came to mind was Saint Oniisan ('Saint Young Men') which is about Buddha and Jesus living together in an apartment in modern-day Japan. The bath house scene makes the rounds every Easter. The whole concept is preposterous and oh so funny.
