I HEARD WE’RE TALKING ABOUT KC USED AS CHARACTER HERE CUZ BOI FO I HAVE LOT IN MY MIND ABOUT THAT (a bit of a rant so uh yeah)

I feel like such, and I mean SUCH a wasted opportunity and potential for KC as a character. Multiple times where I felt like it just so off about how he’s been handle and how it ended. You mean to tell me, this man right here has just gotten his redemption to being good, gone for a few months away from us to see how he’s doing only for us to see one last time before he got straight kill by his own Bloody Son? I mean yeah sure, Im driven for angst but the way they did it for his death just felt not earn, i dont know how to explain it. Im glad that KC at least acknowledge about Bloodmoon’s whole issue but to just die afterwards?? And that’s it?? Yeah ok, he’s a pacifist now and a good guy, but he’s still can defend himself. Maybe came out injured from the fight but still alive. But no…. He just die. Thats it

I cant help but feel like they have been just like, throwing KC’s character around. They either dont know what to do or have other plans for him, but just the way it’s been handle it just. I dont know I gotten a whole rant about this.

I remember when they said that Moon will give KC a proper body but apparently Moon never made that happen. Now, I wanna give the showrunner the benefit of a doubt and cut them some slack cuz Im sure they have other things to do beside the show to even remember that

Oh yeah no I do feel they didn't know what to do with him other than have him come in once a while and felt the death necessary rather than use him more. (The two voice actors for Sun and Moon have like three channels.) I do feel they haven't been too consistent anyway with KC (the rush of a redemption, no seeming closure for somethings, etc. I could be missing something but yeah) They could've had him for the current astral plot (Given he has star knowledge and *harnessing its power*) PLUS Earth's situation about her feelings about the Creator (I'll keep bringing it up, but Deliberately MADE to be a killing machine is right in her face. I know she has Forgor but once again her whole Need to know and uncomfortable with being out of loop. Her entire encounter with KC would be such a haze to her it'd definitely bother her enough.) KC isn't the first example of not using a character to its full (Solar Flare and Even first Bloodmoon. Literally... literally was taught magic and thats never brought up again). It's also just how numbers work on the channel too. They take most review from youtube and discord from what I understand and from what I see there is a difference with majority and what we're saying most of the time. Lunar was brought back cause he was rather popular already (also he wasn't fully killed either in the same episode).

post str hibiya is VERY different from how he started out. i mean. 10 year old timeloop…. he hasn't grown at all mentally like he has to process all this with his 12 year old brain, but going through all he did he just kinda looks at things rly differently now. not obsessed with hiyori, for one…. and she's also different to him. their relationship changes drastically bc now they both respect each other LOL listen i know im annoying with my codependent relationship headcanons but… eyes hibiya and hiyori

these bitches are 12. spent 10 years watching each other die over and over and literally die for each other. AND THEN THEY GET EACH OTHER BACK? ok i'm ready to explain the plot of shining nikki now but it is so much so i need you to be mentally prepared for that thanks (also i'm color-coding again bc the amount of paragraphs will be insane)

so it's actually the sequel to a game called love nikki (where you and nikki have to save miraland because it keeps getting destroyed but i didn't play that one so we're not even touching it) and takes place in the past! like 100 years before love nikki i think? you and a fashion designer named nikki (and momo the cat descendent of the momo clan) get transported from earth to the ocean of memories (hence the whole. interdimensional travel shit) by this guy named leonid who predicted that miraland would be destroyed oh no!!! well it's more like leonid's like "yah miraland's gonna get destroyed and there's nothing you can do abt it so how about i just send you back to earth because you literally cannot stop its destruction it's fate or whatever" and nikki's like "okay but what if...... I Did do something about it" so the three of you go to miraland to try and stop its destruction because this shit keeps happening!!!

you then wake up in a boat in the ocean of memories called the ark which is run by a guy named aeon and his little sister marina, you essentially exist as a voice in nikki's head, um. the three of you discuss everything about the whole apocalypse thing before aeon and marina send you to the first country, apple federation! not much important happens here it's just the introduction to the mechanics of the game and also you almost get blown up on a train by a terrorist group so there's that.

you all go through several countries trying to find the second piece to a manuscript written by leonid that will apparently help you stop the apocalypse but everybody else also wants this piece!! including: evil CEO mercury, actor/informant qin yi who i Hate for fucking with my girl nikki, and cult queen lilith! who is the one in charge of the cult! she's important.

anyways shit happens nikki almost shoots someone THEN we get to the dawn duel event aka the end of part 1. it turns out lilith struck a deal with the literal devil to make everyone love her and summoned an evil goddess into miraland who tries to destroy everything so now nikki has to fight her while everybody else works on rescue efforts. it's a whole thing. it's fucking crazy.

after that you all end up back in the ark to try and discuss shit except holy shit!!! you the player now have a physical body due to the styling power used during nikki fighting a literal god!!! and aeon and marina can now leave the ark instead of being stuck on it! yay!!!! so you all go off to do research on the gods when a particular god keeps showing up named the deity of styling.... who suspiciously looks just like you, now that you have a physical body to compare.... it's honestly really funny bc the player is like "guys..... i think i'm the deity of styling" and everybody else is like "yeah it was fucking obvious you're literally the last one to know" it's implied that something happened with the ocean of memories years ago that took away the player's knowledge of their godhood but nothing's been revealed yet. we just gotta wait and see.

and the deity of styling had five envoys to represent each attribute of styling: elegant, fresh, sweet, sexy, and cool. so you, nikki, and momo decide to go and find these envoys while aeon and marina go back to the ark to keep an eye on the ocean of memories and um. yeah. that's the incredibly abridged version of it. your godly abilities are still limited (the biggest thing i remember being you using your styling power to save the envoy of sweetness from a deadly fall) but there you go. if i tried to explain every single subplot i think it would last forever. this isn't even mentioning the elves or the war or the other things with lilith or the time loop or even any of the limited-time events because that's Too much

you can tell the huge difference pdh has had on mystreet if you watch s1 and llp back to back. they reference it a lot so you’d probably be clueless for some of the mentions, though they do vaguely explain some of their references. 

at the beginning the voice lines were a bit weird, there was always such a weird awkward pause between the lines that was extremely obvious but it does get better after the first couple episodes

the whole dante, jenna and nicole thing bothered me. IT WASN’T. problematic per say. i dont think it was b a d but it could’ve been done much better? i do like how nicole and jenna didn’t act as if nothing happened and didn’t try getting back w/ him or give him a second chance at love. i like how dante knows he cannot repair the damage he’s done. his plot lines can be mature which sometimes takes me in for a loop. however when zane said “dante is trying, he’s just being dumb” it made me.. yknow the kombucha girl cringe meme? yeah that one. i feel like........ it was taken a bit too lightly imo? IDK HOW TO EXPLAIN IT. i just wish it was taking more seriously.

also the travlyn thing towards the end kinda.. gave me whiplash. LIKE I KNOW it was sorta foreshadowed w/ travis going “i can’t take it” in his convo w/ dante but.. IT WAS SO WEIRD? because initially it was written as a funny joke but then it wasn’t and travis was actually feeling hurt. it’s just i don’t think it was done well enough so it came off as a sudden change in tone thats jarring

BUT ANOTHER THING. the whole aphmau being scared of swimming was hhh? on one hand i feel like it was taken wayy too seriously but at the same time i feel like it wasn’t taken seriously enough at times. by that i mean, aphmau seems to be the type to trust her friends a lot regardless, and she encourages her friends to tell her things no matter how embarrassing they may be, but when it comes to her, she stubbornly refuses to tell anyone but zane. but then when everyone knows, no one takes her fear seriously w/ pushing her into the water or going “lmao you’re overreacting”. maybe it’s me because i also cannot swim and it’s sooo fucking scary being in chest level water. tbh im honestly overreacting bc i would also laugh if someone was in my position ngl

GOD I SAID THIS ALREADY BUT SYLVANNA REALLY PISSED ME OFF THIS SEASON. i was fine w/ her not knowing that her daughter had a boyfriend but still going against her wishes despite knowing she has one afterwards simply because you don’t like him hrggghr. i know that mom’s can be annoying like that yeah but jesus fuck it does not help.

honestly aaron was just.. The Boyfriend, yet again. i did like how it was obvious that aaron was becoming more comfortable w/ the people around him and being more outgoing. it was cute. however. most of the things coming out of his mouth was aphmau. EVEN WHEN IT WAS DANTE’S PROBLEM HE COULD NOT HOLD BACK FROM BRINGING UP APHMAU IM SO TIRED. 

anyway i give this season...... honestly 8/10? i know i complained a lot abt this seasons but it was genuinely fun to watch. i liked the other little side characters like the token gay couple (guy and nate + teony and The Girl who’s name they mentioned but i forgot), the dad and his son, also the bartender- 

ONCE AGAIN i would love to mention this mini review is totally based off my personal taste yaddah yaddah, this is a very subjective and biased post so :thumbsup:

okay i don’t have as many opinions abt this as i did character design but here goes

⚠️ probably spoilers for lessons 1-76 bc that’s where i am lol ⚠️

first off, i don’t really play for the plot anymore? i def did at first but after the first ~40 lessons i got kinda bored so i now am more invested with the battle aspect and leveling up cards etc. i’m still playing through so i’m not out of the loop but i’m not paying as much attention to the story/characters as i perhaps once would have

that being said, i do miss the brother-centric storylines. don’t get me wrong- i love simeon and the other dateables but i also miss the bros 💔

i also think that the plot has a lot of holes/things that contradict each other (probably due to the fact that the devs weren’t prepared for the game to gain as much popularity as it did so they had to scramble for content) and so i think going back and adding more context/explanation/clarity would help

and maybe this is bc i didn’t pay that much attention but in the lessons where diavolo was acting suspicious and weird i really think more could have been done w that? it was lacking imo and kind of fell flat

oh i almost forgot this, the whole descended from lilith thing? i think there are other ways that lilith could have been incorporated (i.e her soul was similar to mc’s so they had a special connection or smth) that would be less weird

and i’d change how mammon is treated in general, him being the butt of the joke is getting really old. i’d also get more in depth with asmo bc he really is a truly interesting character, a lot of the time he’s just shows really shallowly it’s stereotypically which gets on my nerves. i feel like the devs went for low hanging fruit (with beel and belphie too) when deciding how their sin would affect their character

also the whole brothers getting mad and unleashing their demon forms on mc is a) icky and b) overdone atp

ok now that i've had time to just think about it, some thoughts on baby reindeer. warnings for talk abt sexual assault!!!

it straight up blew my nuts off in that like, it's very igss candid in how abuse just takes a stick to your brain and just stirs yr shit up. like it is very frank in the actual assault itself, but in having your protag peel himself open and just say things i've been thinking for years it's like 8( yeah, it Do be like that, don't it?

from the misery about wondering if he's a fraud who was made that way because of the assault re. his bisexuality, to hating himself more than he loves others, to that horrid sinking feeling when you actually realize you're chasing any form of care/attention even if it fucking sucks and you're miserable but it's better than nothing + no one, to just not saying anything and having a whole list of reasons why it's not worth reporting which loops back into it's just easier to stay still and hate yourself. god.

like i think the fallout of it being laid out just so is more revealing and visceral than any equally blunt depiction of assault itself. it's terrible to be seen in that way but it's like, idk, it's almost nice in a weird way that the damage can be talked about. shame is such a massive part of the series and ik i never shut up about it but what a bittersweet relief that you're able to sit and piece together how shame and guilt threads into every facet of this guy's life. hell, he literally has a pepe silvia-ass wall going about this mess as he's imploding. it's the mental ruts and setbacks for me.

im still like not over everything that went down in season 5

like s1-s4 set up everything and then s5 was the culmination of everything like Woah, we really got marinette falling in love with chat noir and they even kissed and the whole jubilation dream 😭😭😭😭and we got zoe confessing to marinette and everything with nathalie really fucking stood up to gabriel LADYBUG AND CHAT NOIR GROWING UP AND SAYING WE'LL NEVER DETRANSFORM AGAIN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THAT WAS SO GOOD i am still not over them finally never having to worry about detransforming until they actively decide to again thats so good for them im so fucking happy for them gabe really fucking died ALSO BUG NOIRE MARINETTE UNIFYING PLAGG AND TIKKI AAAAAAAA IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD AND SINCE SHES GROWN UP NOW SHE WAS ABLE TO USE INFINITE CATACLYSMS AND LUCKY CHARMS AND IT WAS JUST SO SO SO GOOD also bringing back the kwami true forms and the kwami of reality was crazy and like the amount of shit marinette went through like jesus christ i dont think she even knows that kagami and felix know her identity because she was so fucked up during that dance and especially since the play happened in her mind because of the sentimonster and also fucking gabriel died manipulating her like i think it would be so cool to have s6 go with the wish horror and have his last request to marinette be ingrained in the fabric of reality so like her not being able to tell adrien because gabe requested her not to in front of gimmi and we still dont actually even know what his real wish was cuz he kept it between his mind and gimmi and just like Wow the adrinette love confessions and them actually really finally getting together i still kinda cant believe it AAAAAAAAAA i fucking love this show so much im so excited for season 6 i know some people are kinda down abt the finale and what it means going forward but i am just so excited like yeah the only for sure thing is learning what happened to lila but i have faith we'll see the cracks in the perfect world and there were lots of hints especially musically that things werent what they seemed and fuck adriend really is sooooooo out of the loop of everything like wow s5 was crazy but i bet s6 will be just as crazy but more on the adrien side than the marinette side like s5 was

Extremely minor things that live rent free in my zutara heart:

Katara being the one to bring up Zuko in the Chase and then basically defend his haircut.

"If Fire and Water are opposites, then what's the opposite of Air?" "I guess it's Earth." .... "You're working with your Natural opposite." 'Bitter Work' really said zutara/taang rights!

Katara's awkward little "I'm sorry I yelled at you" (reminder, still lifelong enemies at this point)

"I THOUGHT YOU HAD CHANGED!" "I have changed."

That little bead of sweat that fans down Zuko's face when Katara looks up at him while choosing whether he should stay or go.

We all know the little smile Zuko does when he sees Katara at his door, but let's just stop and think abt how his face just falls... One look and he knows exactly what's coming.

"You might have everyone else buying your transformation. But you and I both know you've struggled with doing the right thing in the past" Gets me every time. It's so personal!

Katara's little run out of the room after she threatens Zuko. I know that run, I've run that run! That's a 'if I don't get out of this room in the next three seconds, I might show how I'm really feeling and ruin the moment' run.

And Zuko's face watching her go!! The Regret!!

The fact that Katara tells Zuko she will kill him if he is even slightly sketchy or gives the slightest impression he might try capturing the avatar again... And then when Zuko leaves, literally like a day later, headed for an unknown part of the Fire Nation, fully armed, with said Avatar!!! She's just like, 'well the man said it was for firebending lessons.' Maybe Aang isn't the one you're scared Zuko will hurt again, Katara.

Also, totally chill with him taking her brother (the only member of her family she has left at this moment) to another unknown location alone. This whole not trusting Zuko thing is really working out.

"What happened to the war balloon?" "It kinda got destroyed."

"Oh yeah, what's your little form called?" "The dancing dragon", and then "It's funnier when uncle tells it." "Maybe that's because he remembers the whole thing." The fact that Katara's the one he doesn't snap at for poking fun at him. He knows he kinda has it coming from her end. In fact these moments even seem to make Zuko feel more welcome.

Every moment when Katara's back is turned to Zuko and her angry expression is replaced by literally this emoji 🙁.

Zuko getting up and following Katara up to the cliffs while the others stay seated, all confused. The drama!

"This isn't fair." He cares so, so, so much about Katara's opinion of him. He doesn't need her trust, it certainly hasn't impeded his ability to train the Avatar or become a member of the group (Again, side-eyejng the whole 'not-trusting-zuko)

On that note: "And I don't know why, but I do care what she thinks of me." They are really hitting all the enemies to lovers stops on their way aren't they? I mean, he basically just said 'I have absolutely no idea why I care about Katara so much, but I do!'

"I WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO TRUST YOU, REMEMBER! AND YOU TURNED AROUND AND BETRAYED ME." And it finally spills out. This is personal. She doesn't think he isn't to be trusted with her friends or their mission, her behaviour in the last several episodes shows that. Oh no, she just doesn't trust him with her friendship or- dare I say it- her heart. Because he's already shown he has the power to hurt both.

"Your mother was a brave woman." "I know."

When Katara sees Zuko waiting for her outside her tent, her first comment is on how he looks...

"You should rest, you'll need all your strength." "Oh don't you worry about my strength, I have plenty." Yes Zuko, you check up on her wellbeing!!

"You don't remember her, you will soon, trust me."

Katara throwing her arms around his neck, eyes closed as she rests her head on his shoulder, after approaching him with a soft smile. Then his arms immediately coming up to loop around her waist, his eyes also closed, and his face likely buried in her hair because my girl has a lot of hair!!! And then them just holding on for several seconds!!! Then the absolutely serene looks on their faces. AND THEN HE TURNS AND WATCHES HER GO! I'm sorry, but there is absolutely no platonic explanation, guys. This one hug is more beautiful and romantic than any kiss in this entire show.

Zuko wedging himself between Katara and Aang in the most obtrusive way possible. Like, hey I wonder which member of the gaang he feels most comfy with!

"You didn't really say that did you?" "I might as well have."

Katara and Zuko mutually being the de facto leaders of the group throughout the entire last episode.

Upon being told that Zuko (reminder, guy who up until recently, wanted to capture Aang) is attacking Aang, Katara's reaction is 'Zuko this is so unlike you, why would you ever want to hurt Aang?!' In case we need a recap: "You make one step backwards, one slip up, give me one reason to think you might hurt Aang, and you won't have to worry about your destiny anymore."

Katara is the one who makes Zuko join the group hug, I repeat KATARA IS THE ONE WHO MAKES ZUKO JOIN THE GROUP HUG!!!

takane and shintaros post str codependency is making me insane because theyre both way too emotionally attached to each other and want to beat each other up so bad at the same time. they were all the other had for the longest time and have such a raw unspoken understanding of each other and literally goes insane they remove my brain function and the way you characterize them is so real

NO LITERALLY THEYVE BEEN IN MY FUCKING BRAIN FOR WEEKS AND WEEKS . their feelings for each other are the same and also completely different bc shintaro was takane's entire life and purpose while shintaro didnt KNOW it was even takane so he has to reconcile with that fact and OUGH the i can fix him/i guess i can let her fix me dynamic. they cannot live without each other and its so so so unhealthy and messed up .

ok but relationship therapy for shintaro and takane. and also ayano and haruka are here (haruka organized it) the therapists like i seriously dont fucking understand whos dating who and haruka's like THATS THE FUCKING PROBLEM sry im so insane abt shintaro bringing insanity to harutaka and takane bringing (even more than they already have) insanity to shinaya.

haruka's literally the ONLy one on the fucking loop of whats happening bc ayanos like. she's got so many issues of her own and her relationship with shintaros a mess as well so its not like shes got the emotional tools to do something other than be sad abt it. i think if ayanos the one to say anything she still shields behind haruka like HARUKA ALSO THINKS ITS MESSED UP RIGHT HARUKA? RIGHT RIGHT? PLEAAASE HELP MY CASE and harukas like COME ON. but yeah haruka calling takane out but hes so soft abt it it takes takane like a fucking minute to realise wait are we having a....fight and harukas like i GUESS and takanes like ooooh. ohhhhhhhh thats not good.

haruka tries to be understanding bc IT IS understandable that theyre like this but hes like is it too much to fucking ask that takane stops canceling on me all the damn time. and shintaro is so comfortable with just trusting on takane for everything bc hes like she's so pathetic abt wanting to know whats going on with me and she is THE ONE who saw me at my worst so who else would i turn to lol like takanes more comfortable for him. otherwise whats he supposed to do. open up to a whole new person. hes terrified of the outcome of having someone else(ayano) know him that way.

anyways haruka works on it with takane bc he's like drilling into its head the whole thing and takanes more and more aware of it as it goes on and then sort of has to make the choice to have this sort of messed up break up without dating with shintaro. also maybe around the same time shintaro breaks up with ayano for reals in case uve read my shinaya post. shintaro just got dumped x2 and turns to haruka in his emotional breakdown and since haruka responds not mean spirited or angry at him at all, but kinda tells him u brought it upon yourself like ive been telling u abt this for months so shintaro gets angry at him bc he resorts to being irrational BC HE JUST GOT DUMPEDX2 COME ON so to harukas hes like OHHH SO ITS UR FAULT UVE ALWAYS BEEN JEALOUS OF ME AND TAKANE LIKE EVEN IN HS and harukas like wow. im gonna walk away now. but shintaro to takane is like but ayano just left me?? and this is an issue for haruka too??? maybe we should just be together???RIGHT??? and takanes like WOOOOOOOOOOOW HARUKA WAS RIGHT THIS IS RLY FUCKING WEIRD so now things are weird between haruka and shintaro x2 because he just essentially asked takane to breakup with him. shintaro sort of tries blaming his breakup with ayano solely on what happened with takane when in reality theres just so many other things and its so messy

its a yuukei quartet messy fallout baby. it is so fucking funny.

for ayanos part i think she sorta shuts down for a bit while she seeks help in therapy and stuff and shintaros like spiraling so hes more difficult and for takane its SUPER SUPER hard to not run to shintaro seeing him like That so haruka has to keep her grounded but its not like things are super great between them either bc takanes like shaking with anxiety and haruka feels so guilty and has no one to ask advice to so hes not sure if he did the right thing or not. basically ayanos in therapy keeping distance shintaros sort of having a tough falling back to old habits (goes neet for like a month) and harutaka are trying to work on their relationship lol. thru it all the dans also around so theyre especially of help with ayano and shintaro's episodes.

sorry like this is funny to me ofc they all make up like they come around. shintaro and ayano get back together. shintaro and takane talk to each other like normal people and maybe hug and cry a little bit. haruka wants to sleep for like 2 days.

they make up so its FINE thats why to me this is comedy central like is it not super funny come on. but a little post str misery arc for shintaro there

Lang Qianqiu deserves more love goddammit: a post, unfortunately

This brought to you by the wonderful @veliseraptor & @/yuer on Twitter but also mostly out of spite and the fact that it’s preventing me from writing a very dumb poke-the-bear post abt the entire weird social media culture around The Minors

As always ✨SPOILERS!! SPOILERS EVERYWHERE✨

So first off: when I hit the scene where lqq confronts xl and screams “I will never be like you” I sat up in bed, did a little shimmy of delight, and hissed “fuck yes” at like 2 AM so. Now you have a preview of wtf this train wreck will be

1 ) lqq is a good character

We don’t get a ton of time with lqq because tgcf is 87 side characters running across stage with The Most Interesting Concept constantly one-upping each other before vanishing. But what we do get is, I think, enough to make a pretty compelling story: Lang Qianqiu is a kind and generous prince who is also the sole survivor of the bloody massacre of his entire family, committed by the people dearest to him (both in his belief that Gusohi Fangxin did it and in the reality of An Le’s involvement), who goes on to peacefully lead his fractious nation into a peaceful reign before he ascends as a powerful enough (aka beloved and worshipped enough) god to be ranked among the top heavenly generals. That’s like. Pretty fucking classic protagonist vibes right there.

And, as usual with mxtx’s characters, we get a lot more than this lovely little backstory. In his interactions in canon, lqq is capable of great grief and anger; he is willing to sacrifice himself if it means avenging his murdered family; and he simultaneously holds both great hatred and great respect for his old teacher. And, of course, he winds up raising and taking care of his enemy’s son which shows a remarkable depth of compassion and emotional messiness that I find terribly compelling. He struggles with a simplistic view of justice that is supported by lies told to “protect” him and that is uprooted by the truth and forces him to try to make sense of the world without the guardrails that others installed around him (looking at you mister fangxin sir).

Also I’m stealing my own tweets bc I’m Right but:

*pulls up single barstool to lqq is a good character table* I think it’s interesting & Says Things abt the continued relationship btwn lqq & xl that lqq *didn’t* recognize xl, implying that he left fangxin’s mask in place even when he went to kill him

Like here is the man who killed his family & best friend, who left him abandoned in bloodshed on his 17th bday—& here is also the man who saved his life, who taught him, who lqq looked up to & wanted to be like

Even when lqq *does* recognize xl, he still has so much respect for him paired with that hatred that it’s honestly rlly tragic? Like man. There’s so much grief in lqq’s repeated demands for a duel & insisting it’s fine if xl kills him as long as he doesn’t hold back

*pats lqq pompom* this bb is so sad. And so much more like his teacher than either of them seem to realize or necessarily want

Despite being a pretty minor character, lqq gets a lot of complexity and nuance! Look at this child trying to be grown up while desperately turning to his old master for guidance and “the truth”! Look at him! Be sad!!

2 ) lqq is an excellent parallel to xl

Xl didn’t want lqq to become like him (self-sacrificing, vengeful, alone) but lqq not only became alone, chasing vengeance, & willing to sacrifice himself for revenge—he also became kind, open-minded, & remorseful!! & he still clearly respects xl @ novel end 🙃🙃

We all know hc’s “they’re not very alike at all” and yeah sure baby go support your man but narratively, there’s a lot of importance given to cycles, parallels, and foils in mxtx’s writing and most explicitly (compared to mdzs, haven’t read svss) in tgcf. For example, *gestures at beefleaf, gestures at Xianle Trio vs Wuyogn Crew, gestures at Xie Lian & Jun Wu’s whole uh. Deal.* And while I’d argue xl and lqq are part of a triumvirate rather than a pair, we’re not including mister three-face in this conversation so just looking at xl and lqq:

Both adored and sheltered crown princes

Both taught by a guoshi who was seeking to prevent the repetition of their own tragedies and in their efforts, lied/omitted information and failed to protect their charge from tragedy

Both were betrayed* by their closest friends

Both are the last living members of their respective royal families

Both caught the interest of supernatural beings from a young age

Etc etc I’m getting v bored and distracted writing this so moving on

Most importantly to me, we have their betrayal by a very close and adored mentor and how they react. The confrontation I mention at the start of this shitshow is really imo one of the most important scenes in the novel because it a) illustrates the differences in xl and Jun Wu and b) sort of gives you a preview of how xl ultimately wins

So a) Jun Wu and Xie Lian both take a talented, marked-for ascension young prince under their wing. Jun Wu sees himself in the boy and obsesses over shaping him into Jun Wu’s own image in the belief that this will make him the perfect heir. Jun Wu pushes his chosen heir into situations where Xie Lian is repeatedly harmed in an effort to show that the common people are fickle and cruel and don’t deserve his compassion and care.

Meanwhile, Xie Lian is reluctantly roped into mentoring his prince due to his inability to stand aside when he feels he could do something to prevent hurt or injustice befalling another (simultaneously his great strength and great weakness! God I love him). Xie Lian tries to teach his student to believe in and care for the common people and not to sacrifice himself (see: flashback convo re:taking the force of the sword strike into his own body).

When Xie Lian refuses to bend in the shape Jun Wu demands, Jun Wu bashes his head into the wall. When Lang Qianqiu cries “I will never be like you!”, Xie Lian laughs and says “Good!”.

B) this of course feeds directly into foreshadowing! Like Lang Qianqiu’s bold words, xl ultimately refuses to become like his mentor and remains defiant even when it would stop him from being hurt. Xl beats lqq and says so what if I tricked you, so what if I lied, I still won. Naturally, xl beats Jun Wu not through standard swordplay but by using a trick he learned while forced to busk and wander the earth alone and unlucky for centuries.

…okay so I have fully forgotten what I was actually saying here! Anyway!

Like Xie Lian, Lang Qianqiu spends a time consumed with the need for vengeance, hunting his enemy and rejecting the heavens. And like Xie Lian, he winds up caring for his enemy’s “son” and trying to both comfort him and maintain what’s left of Qi Rong’s life force despite having previously been hellbent on destroying him—bc he sees the impact it has on another person. In the end, he even gives a gift to Xie Lian—his mentor, his role model, and the one who killed his father—that was once given to him as a symbol of unexpected kindness. Sound familiar?

But, importantly, and contradictory to what I have been yelling abt but whatever it’s 12:30 am, Lang Qianqiu is not a direct mirror of Xie Lian but a closing of a vital loop in the story. Lqq is very similar to xl (I will die on this hill!! Only I won’t bc I’m stronger than y’all and will keep swinging these pots and pans) but bc xl tries to do better and keep lqq from suffering the way xl has, lqq is able to have a gentler and more optimistic path forward. He’s proof that even a small act of kindness or even kindness to only one person still matters and has a ripple effect that can’t be seen when you’re in the middle of it—a thread started with xl giving the coral pearl to Lang Ying and closed with Lang Qianqiu returning the pearl to Xie Lian.

So I have no idea if any of this is coherent or compelling but I meant to be asleep two hours ago and the points are:

A) Lang Qianqiu is good actually

B) parallels!!!

C) look ive already started another wip about Lang Qianqiu and Xie Lian and I didn’t want this but no one else wrote it so now I have to so pls just accept this as a warning

Yo I've been really out of the loop with KH stuff but I took a look at some of the official localizations cause I was curious about the changes and NOW I'm curious if the community like raised an eyebrow at all at the whole 'world where unversed come from thing'??? The wording about it on Terra and Vanitas' files still make me go?? I wanna know if the theory people closed in on that cause I only barely speculate and I'm lowkey losing my mind that it wasn't a mistranslation actually

Omg ok so first off i read this like 3 times and went "wAIT WHAT DO U MEAN THEY MENTION AN UNVERSED WORLD" despite Terra's and Vanitas' stories being the ones i read the most (other than Repli's,,) so that tells u exactly how much info i retain from anything ever,

SECONDLY this is actually interesting to me and despite following quite a few kh theorists i have Not seen anyone even blink at this at all - tho i hadnt looked on twitter much when they first came out so i could be wrong. Either way, first time im hearing it so thanks for that n props for being the first to say anything abt it to my knowledge! Also wanna mention that i never actually read most of the chara files before the official translation (i think i read Repliku, Riku n Demyx n just. Never went to the rest) so by ur wording that was a thing even before this stuff was released??? How am i just now finding this out ,, BUT YEAH GETTING TO THE STUFF IN THE CHARACTER FILES BC IM VERY INTRIGUED.. i'll include whatever may or may not be relevant to this topic

From Terra's character file: "If the Realm of Darkness was what Aqua had fallen into, where was I? . . . Maybe that place wasn't even darkness, but the realm of nothingness. A realm with neither light nor darkness. . . I wasn't in the world of sleep, in a dream, but rather a world of nothing, and yet it existed. Because of this, pain, sadness, and hatred became nothingness and attacked me. . . Maybe this place resembled the world of the Unversed. A void that swallowed even sadness and pain. A world where hope and joy had never existed to begin with."

And from Vanitas': "Unversed--meaning ones who aren't well versed with life. What the heck does that actually mean? . . . This monster was both me and not me. . . I dont need to know which is light and which is darkness. Not just light, not just darkness. . . I came from the void and am returning to it. What's the void? It's neither darkness nor light, more like an abyss. Good night, Ventus."

... good god is there a lot to unpack here. Like a Lot a lot. Im gonna try to stay on topic here but no guarentees bc we are talking about Terra and Vanitas and the biggest coolest parallel tie thing that i never even thought about before, both between them and between two kh monsters that i didnt think would be linked and the relationships between different worlds and realms and nmmmmmmmm yeah im just gonna write down every observation i have from this sorry in advance for length

Ok. The most obvious connection between the two is both mentioning the void. This, according to what u pointed out and being backed up by Terra's observation, is or is similar to the world where Unversed originate, or where they reside. Now at first I thought that would be a weird thought bc like, dont the Unversed come from Vanitas?? But Vanitas talks about how he also came from that void, so the idea of it being the world of Unversed isnt out of the picture. But also, Vanitas is supposed to come from Darkness, right? Did Darkness come from this void as well? Or is it the void itself? But that would be weird, because the void isnt darkness nor light - and they make a point to say that mulitple times, which is interesting. What the fuck even is this void?

Thing is, the way they - especially Terra - talk about it (and bc i recently played thru kh2's ending again as if id somehow known it would come in handy) reminded me of this:

A place of neither dark nor light, an abyss, where emotions never existed, with creatures that embody nothingness. Plus the fact that Terra has ties to Xemnas, whom you fight here (was Terra here too, somewhere?). Theres gotta be a connection. I have no doubts about this. My only question would be just.. why?? With Unversed being the literal embodiments of emotions while Nobodies completely lack those, its kind of weird to think that their origins might be connected in some way. Or maybe not their origins, but theres.. something. We think of Heartless and Nobodies as counterparts, but Unversed might have bigger a place in there than we know. I might even argue that Nobodies and Unversed have a more distinct tie than the previous duo according to these files. Whether theyre also counterparts, polar opposites, or possibly even of similar nature..

Oh, on a related note, I included Vanitas' "both me and not me" quote for a number of reasons - one being the above. Im not saying the Unversed and Nobodies are actually the same thing (probably. Probably) but the way Terra described emotions turning into nothingness which then attacked him, adding on Unversed being described as those who arent well versed with life (which even Vanitas doesnt really understand, and those things come from him) like. Theres something here. The other reason i included the quote was i think it actually seems like a cool parallel to Terra, Xemnas, and Xehanort, which felt relevant enough to add here

Also noting the reason for why i included Vanitas' last line there, i couldnt help but be reminded of something from re:com:

I also think its interesting that Terra knows of the sleeping worlds, which makes me wonder if he ever had experience with them since hes aware that he isnt among those (outside of what he may know/remember from Xemnas..? Im not sure how strong their connection is)

But back to the Unversed world itself, why does Vanitas say hes going back to a place without darkness or light when hes supposed to Be Darkness (or part of it, at least)? Thats like one of the main things thats really getting me here. Is the void, the world of nothingness, where everything came from or came to be? Cuz if THE Darkness came from the place, its gotta go way back.

Ohhhhhh no im thinking way too much abt this but. A world of nothingness. It shouldnt exist, but it does. Yknow what else shouldnt and technically doesnt exist but somehow also does? Unreality. Fiction. Where MoM, who has been at war with Darkness (who has relation to Vanitas) for the past fuck knows how many centuries, was last seen. (Wheres that one pic of the dude with the corkboard going nuts thats exactly what i feel like rn.)

The void is related to nothingness, but are those related to the worlds of fiction? Do light and dark exist in unreality? If so, do they have the same relationship as within reality? Is any of this stuff related? I dont fucking know!!!!!!!!! Im going to lay facedown on my bed and contemplate this for the rest of my life

6. underrated character

my no. 1 underrated character will be yod and rang duo. yes, they are one obv cus they share le braincell. yod and rang are the supportive duo for both phupha and tian tho their interaction is limited and usually just there for some comedic relief. with phupha, they become his trusted men. they don't judge phupha for having different taste and instead, annoy, tease, and joke the hell outta him abt his crush on tian. they offset dr nam's effort in supporting their chief.

with tian, they are the good, neutral older brothers that can see beyond his intention and worry. love how yod still talks rather nicely to tian at the school and rang doesn't act impulsively towards him when he tries to rescue chief. they also brighten up every party set for tian and help him with the kids.

not to mention, yod and rang encourage phupha to express his feelings with so much subtlety like asking phu to tell tian to stay longer and add with "the kids love him too". it's like a gentle nudge to phupha in contrast with dr nam's hard smack on the forehead, that you guys should communicate, dumbasses in love. also, their small teasing noises got me mushy mushy cus sometimes it really translates, "wear protection, my dudes" i can't XD

when the gang walk tgt, they become the F4 of phapundao, change my mind. yod and rang are also the tension breaker whatever that comes out their mouth becomes a laughing stock. im so in love with them.

10. fav hands scene

this is asjfksllsfjls where i lose it. lemme tell you what i see from this moment. phupha's heart is being represented by the ring, so basically, phupha tells tian to keep it safe and hold it close to him. phupha can't give anything but his heart that also means his whole life (cause if your heart stops beating your life ends right). so, as long as tian keeps it, it is his. phupha is tian's. but it does not oblige tian to be kept. if tian wants to throw it or bury it because he already has someone else to love, he can dispose it. phupha is no longer tian's.

tian's hand represents him and his own heart. like i said before, as long as tian keeps the ring to him closely, he is keeping phupha. it's also telling us that tian's heart is actually stronger than phupha's because phupha's heart is vulnerable and sensitive from all the deaths he saw and loneliness. it needs protection, it needs warmth, it needs companion. and tian can give it just right.

phupha's hand wrapping around tian's represents him and his heart. with his bigger build and older soul, he will protect tian who holds his heart. if tian dies, he will die too, maybe not physically hurting. but his heart will surely numb. he is the patron, he acts like an older and wiser person. if he sends tian away, it's due to his experience. but his heart? he actually can't take the pain, he hates to let go of tian and that's why he asks tian to keep the ring. just by that he is assured, he will be close enough to the person he loves.

additionally, this is the adult approach i was talking abt in one of my post. phupha is very lowkey asking for a marriage, a life long partner. but the closest thing to marriage he can do is giving the ring as the ring represents unending loop of commitment and love. so, yeah.... my fave hand scene.

39. one thing id say to all the crews and casts

i love you, all. sincerely. for making me feels again. small aof and big 'aof' and all the screenwriters, you guys did so much lord work and break so many thai drama rules. atots is such a beautiful piece. all actors, youre all brilliant. how you internalise your respective character is just so damn good. you are passionate about your role and that makes them alive. all technicians and field crews who went up and down the mountain, the hill, the waterfall, carrying heavy loads. your dedication and sweats for this drama are going to be paid back. so many times that you will be satisfied and remember atots as a good memory. i just love this masterpiece so much.

i should also throw it out there real quick that i am kin w/ infinite, n this is actually one of my two canons (both of which are my own aus lmfao wow). i didn't go into it expecting it to be but sfsfsgdfs here we are ig!! for that reason it's got extra importance to me n this definitely contributes to the euphoria i get from it!! it's a lil odd writing ur own canon,,? but i kinda just go w/ the flow!

the au n, the story that i will start Eventually, revolves around infinite n starline (obvi) n it's honestly just ... the tl;dr is big healing momence n, what's this? uh oh sisters !!! they are falling in love 😳😳😳

uhhhh so infinite is an android, made by eggman. that's like, the most notable canon divergence here! super important context to have. i've got a whole big theory on the possibility of sega originally intending infinite to be an artificial being (which i explored in the works for my Other canon too), stemming from not only the scene in forces wherein infinite comments on sonic's "data", but a line of dialogue from tails in one of the last stages of the game where he Literally Says "so this is where eggman built infinite". that ... i mean. that contrasts w/ episode shadow pretty hard don't it?? would explain why that dlc was so rushed, n the comic too. ANYWAY adsfsfs um that's a seperate ramblepost. yeah!!!

they are also agender n use they/them (primarily) as well as he/him!! so i'll be refering to them w/ those pronouns!

after the war, infinite is taken in by the resistance n, instead of being dismantled, they're basically given a chance to rehabilitate themselves. it's agreed that they won't be reprogrammed, as despite the potential risks, it feels wrong to do so; like a violation of their free will, individuality n thinking. if infinite is to be a good person, it's not gonna be bc other ppl recreated their entire personality, it's gonna be bc it's what they themselves truly want. robot ethics idk man!! u can't tell me that sonic n co wouldn't offer this to infinite if they offered it to metal in IDW,,,, i am Standing By This!!!

it's, yknow, a bit rocky, at first. infinite has to really fight the urge to return to eggman (something they already tried once, before the resistance found them; they were cast out). it's a struggle against what they were built to do, against giving into unhealthy familiarity over facing a, while healthier, unfamiliarity. new faces, a new life, turning their back on their mission n creator, it's like, a lot.

they work for/with the sonic crew, rebuilding the world they tore down as deemed fitting justice, being closely monitored for a bit as a natural precaution. as it becomes apparent infinite truly no longer has any ambition to harm others (they don't have much ambition for anything, really), they're then granted more freedom, n start taking on more important missions!! it at least gives them something to do, keeps them occupied. they have issues with dissociation, unreality, whether they're truly a real person bc, well, android. feeling purposeless, n a lack of worth, especially. a need to prove themselves. heavy stuff. i'll kinda go into that a bit more in a sec. their work grounds them, if only temporarily.

n soooooo... IDW comic stuff happens. metal virus time. starline gets kicked out of the empire.

now, as the comics are ongoing, n as this is already an au, there's gonna be divergence, n i must admit i haven't planned out all that yet. there's a lot i have to consider!! infinite being w the resistance/restoration is a big game changer ... tho i Do believe that they were absent, likely on a far out mission during most of the chaos. eggman doesn't know abt them, nor does starline or anyone else other than the sonic crew; n some civilians that recognise them.

i'm not 100% sure of Exactly when it happens, but i think it's just after bad guys, that infinite is sent to locate n bring in starline. it doesn't prove too difficult. there's a whole, starline realising "oh fuck it's you???", some bickering n, the two don't hit it off right away. they're both kinda like. not mentally stable ddgddgdds,,,

so uh. starline ends up essentially going thru the same sorta shit as infinite. careful watch, rebuilding, all that jazz, making sure he can be trusted. he's like... very very lost, quite like infinite is. the world has kinda calmed down, in the meanwhile.

it's at this point i'm gonna go ahead n drop a bit of a ramble i subjected my friends to a while ago, to articulate the way i see the two, n their dynamic together!! i was considering making this it's own post a while ago!

analysing their characters a bit... let's look at starline. Like. so we have this, in bad guys, which SENT ME tbfh;

i feel like it's the moment that triggers starline onto the path he is rn canonically,,, he's clearly like. rly mad n bitter. the core of this?? he wants his work n his efforts to be acknowledged.

he's big angry. still kind of in denial at this stage. he has himself obsessed w/ the idea of making eggman see him as Worthy, that if he just tries hard enough, that'll happen. he's dependent on eggman's validation, n i mean, it's no surprise; he's followed him a Long Time by the sounds of it.

then in the recent issue, hold the fuck up, bc we got, This;

god. my god it's all comin together now homies. this???? this right here??? it is the CLASSIC "i have to do this to prove i'm strong n powerful n smart n worthy n should be respected please Give Me Acknowledgement" ..... n who else is Like That? can u see where im going w/ this?

i think most ppl are aware of infinite's character being extremely indicative of self worth/esteem issues n the need to prove themself, right?? the extreme adversity, repulsion, perhaps even fear toward the idea of being weak. the compulsion to prove otherwise, to show their strength, to become powerful, to conquer to make a point. their theme exudes this same energy as their behaviour in-game; an aggressive attitude, trying to assert themself, while if u rly listen...? the lyrics are actually really sad in places. it reeks of cover up, although composition wise, a v interesting thing to note is a lot of the more telling lyrics are prominent while some of the affirming ones are in the background. indicative of a desire to have their true feelings be heard but caught in a vicious loop?

okay okay that's yet Another different analysis. AHEM.

not to get deep on main (oh who the hell am i kidding that's the point of this entire thing) but i think starline has issues w/ his worth in a similar way to infinite. they both seem to have this need to Prove something, whether it's to others or themselves, n get caught in a toxic spiral of doing worse n worse things for Some kind of validation or acknowledgement. they'll go to really big lengths chasing that, n both of them ultimately sought validation in the wrong place n wrong way.

this is a big part of my starfinite dynamic,, n so, what happens, as they get closer n open up??? we have them BOTH realising together that they don't have to do fuck all to prove anything to anyone. they don't need to do all this to show they're strong n smart n worth something, not to anyone else OR themselves. they're enough as they are. they bond over that shared feeling that they have to do xyz, to prove themselves, n that desire to just finally be acknowledged n appreciated n help each other thru it. to help each other understand that other ppls approval, or lack thereof, doesn't define them, their strength, intelligence, and worthiness.

i feel like they have an interesting parallel between them in like... the above could be taken as a general analysis, but to go more in depth on this au specifically?? ...

starline followed eggman for presumably a long time n it no doubt left him feeling a heavy and deep regret for all that time wasted n spent on an unhealthy path. infinite kinda teaches him that what matters is what he's doing Now n also reminds him that if none of it happened, starline wouldn't have learnt a lot of the serious skills he has. n while starline still feels bad, he also realises himself that, he likely never would have crossed infinite's path if none of it happened. for that reason, he wouldn't take it back.

infinite has only been recently made, on the other hand. they haven't really existed long, yet, but so far their experiences haven't been very positive n it can be .... discouraging. starline sorta, shows infinite their limited experiences w/ the world are a very tiny fraction of what's out there, n things can absolutely change, yes, including for the better; that's the essence of life, a neverending, constant flow of change.

it's a big tale of moving on n letting go, honestly; made easier as they're doing it together. n as they heal n grow, well... these bitches gay. sfshshdgds like, ig that's putting it p bluntly but!! they start to trust each other, understand each other more. as they get to truly know who the other is, they both start developing The Feelings. they're both pretty oblivious n the reveal is totally unknown so far!! yeah, i know, bummer. i suck. boo. adafsfsds however i can say there will be lots of content in the making!! if that soothes the soul! i've got of ideas i hope to bring to life.
