So. Danny has discovered he might erm, might be technically a necromancer. At least as far as magic is concerned. Like even if it’s just via resurrecting himself the magic side of things (god, he’s more scientist- sided dangit) count it as such. 

Which means that half the time someone tries to summon a necromancing-esque being, he’s the one who gets tugged if he’s even a centimeter within range. It was annoying enough in high school, it’s no less annoying in this world they’ve all moved to. 

On the bright side, thanks to also being half dead himself, the summonings and other rituals can’t actually drag him somewhere. It just causes him to feel like someone was crushing a lung or two, which honestly nothing new. (Gosh were those days of vigilante work really that violent? Huh, guess they were)

What he wasn’t expecting was for a tiny child, a living child, to track him down despite him not existing legally or anything similar in this world, to revive their previous local child vigilante. Which like, hey, first of all, he has a few questions? Just a couple and yeah sure, he’ll shake on it- can he have your name first there kid…? 

Tim, on the other hand, is getting a little concerned when he realizes a lot of the questions the probable-fae keeps asking are in line with the stuff CPS asks. (Unknown to him, that is exactly where Danny is getting several of his questions about this scrawny vigilante kid. Erm. He might have to take the kid, for like, his own safety- hey Frostbite he needs your help he has some questions-)

Do you ship any of the turtles with anyone? or do you ship anything in rise at all?

(This ended up being a lot longer an answer than I intended hoo boy sorry about that)

Hmmm, I’m not too big a shipper tbh! Especially since I really enjoy canon interactions backing my ships, so it’s hard for me to actively like any that don’t really have that going for them. There’s plenty that I see around that I think are cute, but that’s usually the extent of my thought process for them.

For ships I more actively have, I guess I like AprilxSunita! They’re very very cute and I think they have some huge meet cute energy in their first episode together, and their chemistry is genuinely adorable (plus them being featured means more April screentime which is ALWAYS a good thing.)

I also think AprilxCasey (and when I say Casey I mean our OG girl) is really good, as I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers, and I think they have a lot in common and just bounce off each other very well (not to mention this ship in other iterations of TMNT has a loooooot going for it.)

Keeping the chain going, I think RaphxCasey (again, OG Casey) is also one with a tonnnnn of potential. They have a lot of common characteristics, and considering Raph’s whole thing with Franken-Foot, I really think there’s a lot of room there for a relationship to develop. Plus, like AprilxCasey, Raph and Casey tend to have a close relationship throughout the iterations of TMNT and it would be great to see that more with these two, even if not romantically.

Actually going back to enemies to lovers, I unironically think there’s a ton going for DonniexKendra. I know a lot of people hate this ship, but I don’t and I actually think it could very easily work whether in a love-hate way or a slow burn way. There’s a lot to like here and honestly they’re good together! Kendra is legit Donnie’s type too haha (cute, but mean.)

Lastly, SplinterxDraxum is good…when done right. I really like when people take it and don’t undermine the very real trauma that Splinter has gone through. As I’ve stated a lot, I love me some enemies to lovers, so I can see the potential here. Plus lbr Draxum was down BAD for Lou Jitsu when he first saw him haha.

I think that’s the extent to what I actively like? Everything else usually falls into “aw cute” or “ehhh not for me thanks”. And before you ask YES leosagi is cute and I’ll read fics with it if the premise is appealing, but I’m afraid I need some canon interactions to establish base character dynamics before I actively ship it alas.😔 Super cute though, no hate to it or any of the other CanonxCharacter-they’ve-never-met ships, I genuinely think people should just have fun! And for what it’s worth I really do wish we got a Usagi and Leo interaction in Rise like we have in other iterations.:(

So yeah. Overall, I have a few ships I enjoy, but I fall much more in the “prefer to keep everyone to themselves and make the focus family and friendship” category.

Hello! Quick activity update: I am starting a new job on Monday that is going to be 8-5 Monday through Wednesday, as well as taking 1 summer class, so activity is expected to drop down a little bit :-)

Sometimes I think about Dominik Koudelka's assistant who takes Minkowski's call in Ep43 Persuasion...

In the moment, dismissing the voice on the other end of the phone feels like the right thing to do. She can't just put any random person who calls through to Mr. Koudelka immediately; if she did, there would be no point in him having an assistant at all. And when that random caller is claiming to be Mr. Koudelka's dead wife, of course it would be wrong to subject him to that. (Cont. below cut)

She's seen Mr. Koudelka in the denial stage of grief, if only from a professional distance. She knows that the only time he took off after he heard the news was the day of his wife's funeral. She knows he started working days so long it was a wonder he got any sleep at all. She's heard rumours that he tried to insist that The Times' coverage of the shuttle crash ought to use the word 'allegedly' more. Apparently he ignored every sensitively-worded inquiry about whether he wanted to have any input on his wife's obituary.

Mr. Koudelka certainly doesn't need some cruel joke reopening emotional wounds. It's better not to mention it to him. His assistant knows that she did the right thing. 

Or at least, she thinks she did. But she still can't stop thinking about that voice on the other end of phone, its desperation, its sense of urgency, its bizarre impossible claim.

So maybe she finds herself looking up Renée Minkowski, just to set her mind at ease. And there's surprisingly little information out there, but she eventually finds a clip of an interview from just before the launch of the Hephaestus mission. And that's when her stomach drops. She recognises the voice in the video. It's the same voice as the one she heard on the end of the phone. She's sure it's the same voice.

And what is she supposed to do then? Go to her boss and tell him that his wife is alive? Tell him that she lost him potentially his one chance to talk to his presumed dead wife? Admit that she didn't tell him about that call straight away? She's got no proof, just her memory. What if she's wrong about it being the same voice? Maybe it was a good impersonator, or a technological trick, or the power of suggestion. Is telling him the truth worth risking her job for? Is it worth risking giving false hope to a widower who has only just begun to move on? What if he doesn't believe her? What if he does?

The assistant to the villain book reminds me a bit to the princess bride? They're awesome romcoms. They don't take themselves very seriously. They have similar 'medieval but not actually historic' vibes. I can perfectly imagine a grandpa narrating both.

feeling old is kinda inevitable in a culture obsessed with youth especially for women but just thinking bout the numbers. i only have memories of the past ~15 years of my life bc i dont remember much prior to 11 years old. i essentially didnt start enjoying or even tolerating life until ~21 years old due to years and years of mental illness. i only graduated school at 24. why am i panicking at 26, am i stupid

She slaps his outstretched hand away and moves to lift herself up. His face – mask – whatever expression doesn’t change but he makes an amused noise and tilts his head back, lifting it up to meet Tabi’s eyes as she gets back up.

“You told me he was dead,” she spits.

“Evbo?” He says as if he really needs to clarify. “I said I met him a bit ago.”

“You said he was dead!” She repeats, raising her voice.

Clown shrugs. “I asked how you’d feel if he was,” he replies calmly, “And you didn’t answer me properly, might I add.”

“I said you would've done what you had to do and you –! You…” She trails off, taking a breath and averts her focus to the space behind Clown. “... he was here.”

“For the eternal trident like us, I presume? Was it you or that Trident the one that got him earlier?”

She huffs. “That was me.”

“He must be reporting to the other Diamond Swords by now then and likely planning to make a move for either the Bow Civilization or ours and —”

“How are you so sure he’s alive?”

He laughs very lightly. “Same way you do, of course.”

A beat passes, a moment where everything unsaid settles in.

The ‘you said he was dead’ instead of ‘you killed him’.

The ‘that was me’, the ‘how are you so sure he’s alive’ instead of ‘i killed him’, ‘how are you so sure I didn’t kill him’. Kill, kill, kill. Dead, not killed.

She’s relieved he isn’t dead, she was, she shouldn’t be, and there are more pressing issues afoot.

“Come now.” Clown moves along. So easily. Unfazed by the fighting – or, maybe he isn’t but he seems so, Tabi’s never sure with Clown but she seems so. “You're probably low on attacks after that fight, aren’t you? Let’s recuperate and prepare for our next move.”

“Right,” she grunts, following his side. “Right.”

I named my spidersona "Sunny Brown" while thinking about eggs and hashbrowns. I wanted something that felt nostalgic and bright like morning light.

Then two seconds after I wrote it down I was like "Wait Hobie's last name is Brown. Damn."

Nobody has asked yet which is a surprise but yeah no, Sunny has absolutely zero relation whatsoever with Hobie. Not family and not an alternate universe parallel. Just a common last name lmao.
