man. not really an original thought but i’m always so deeply…annoyed, i guess, by media where there’s a category of instantly recognizable Bad Guys that you’re just meant to accept are Supposed To Die, because they’re Bad and killing them is therefore Good.
obviously more knowledgeable people than me have already pointed out the issues with things like inherently evil fantasy races and that’s an entire problem all on its own. i have nothing useful to add there, i agree that it’s bad. but even aside from that it just pisses me off. i can’t get my head around the appeal, it feels like the least interesting possible way to interact with a fictional world
it’s actually a pretty big part of why i have such a hard time getting into video games, even good ones. i couldn’t get more than ten minutes into playing breath of the wild when a friend let me try it out because i ran into An Enemy i was supposed to fight and it broke the immersion too much for me. why do i have to fight them? am i supposed to want to? why do they attack me? who are they? are they alive? sentient? angry? following orders? whose orders? what are they doing here? i kept asking all the wrong questions and they just kept trying to tell me which buttons to press to attack and eventually i got so frustrated i just quit and handed the controller to someone else

Sometimes I'll come upon threads or posts where a person is sharing their criticisms on something I'm a fan of and there's almost ALWAYS a person or two in the comments like "oh the [insert media/character] fans are going to kill you for this!!"
LIKE NO ACTUALLY?? I find reading opposing opinions to mine quite entertaining and potentially eye opening bc they'll offer viewpoints about my favorite movie or game I may not have considered otherwise and it's just interesting to take in tbh
tldr i don't entirely get why some people feel threatened if others don't like their favorite thing, regardless of what it is

this is... interesting. If I'm not mistaken, the list of people banned from the waning moon is supposed to be a bunch of devs, but gerringothe thorm obviously isn't one, and the "unknown elf" sounds far too much like astarion to not be him.
if you have a companion interact with the magic mirror, they have unique wishes they can share. the first wish always seems to be their deepest desire, past all the fear, pride, anger, regret, etc. that they may feel. wyll's, for example, is wishing to see his father extending his arms in forgiveness to him (wyll. pleeease pleaase pleease your dad was the one who was wrong T____T).
astarion wishes to see his home. his real home. after reading this line, I was reminded of the note in the waning moon...and well...what if astarion's real home was originally reithwin town? or somewhere nearby it? the timeline checks out, the shadowcurse has been around for about 100 years, according to halsin. astarion's been a spawn for around 200 years...
the only thing I can think of that might contradict this is something mr. stephen rooney (his writer) said in an interview, about not being sure what direction to take astarion's story in act 2. but given that this was said of the astarion made for the 3 act story we know, and that there still exist many remnants of old ideas since reworked in the live game, it's not impossible that the original story might have included something about astarion's real home being the shadowcursed lands.
sad too, because if it is true, it means that it's very likely that his family was lost to the shadowcurse. and his family wouldn't have ever known that they lost their son to the shadows long ago....

Wanted to draw something for this silly headcanon forever ago but since I still haven't you get this post instead.
About that DC au for Vat7k I have, where the team is the young justice league. Random fun fact : they all play DnD together, its a homebrew campaign where Varian is the DM, the campaign is called The 7 Kingdoms. And as you may have guessed, its actually just the vat7k story.
"But Varian is the DM how can he be the main character ?" Thats a good question audience I do not have! You could also ask who tf gets to play a fantasy campaign and just.. play as themself ? (Well. Probably some people cuz you can do what you want but our beloved characters wouldnt pass the opportunity to be literally anyone who isnt them.-)
Actually Varian doesnt play Varian. Hugo does. It started as a joke to bother him but the rest of the league thought it was the funniest thing ever and wanted to add to the joke. So Hugo is Varian, Aiden is Hugo, Nuru is Yong, Yong is Nuru and Varian wants to kick all of them out of his house rn.
They are all terrible caricature of each others. It actualy ends up helping them understand each others better- also free therapy I guess-

alright, so if we do end up fighting Kris in the last chapter of Deltarune, we will most certainly win. For we are the player, and we have the power of saving and loading. Debatably, Kris has this too, but either way the end result is the same- This will be a fight of iteration and endurance.
I hypothesize that this fight will have two (or three, depending on how you look at it) endings: You persist, or you relent. Persistence would likely look like a LOT of grinding, figuring out which actions in what order will allow you to "win" and take control back over Kris. And relenting, or perhaps convincing them to relent, would look like A: fleeing or mercy, or B: the same thing as persistence, but choosing to pursue mercy. The third option would be death, and subsequently giving up.
Now, we must remember that Deltarune is a 2018 video game developed by American indie developer Toby Fox. Deltarune oriciy came from Toby's fever dream portraying the ending of a video game. So there's every chance that rather than having the option to either fight to achieve mercy or simply give up and die, you can only die. That IS the only way to free the game from the player. Any other way, and you'd still be in control.
This option also would align with Toby's "there is only one ending"- The ending is persistence, and taking over Kris again. The other "endings" are just death.
This alone makes me inclined to believe that that's exactly how it's gonna go. The only thing that makes me doubt this is how Deltarune is a commercial venture, and that's a pretty unsatisfying "ending". But I could absolutely see Toby doing it anyway.
For we are the player. And if we fight for it, we WILL win. But winning means making Kris suffer, and the only way to avoid that is to no longer fight.

Somehow I have gone my entire life under the impression that Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy were the same thing
Cue me growing increasingly confused and disturbed for the first two hours of a FFXVI playthrough on YouTube as I watched graphic violence and sexual content play out on screen with the latent belief that Mickey Mouse was going to show up at some point...
