Hii! Hope all is well with you! I'd love to do a 🎃 for supernatural or marvel of possible! <3
I'm so bad at describing myself, bear with me :)
Physical stuff out of the way. I'm pretty average high and weight, around 5'4 and 135. I do have hope dips and a ton of stretch marks. I have mid-length wavy brown hair and big brown eyes. I'm super pale, like ghostly pale lol. Oh and I wear glasses!
The basics! My favorite colour is lilac! My favorite season is autumn! I love Halloween and Christmas. There is nothing quite as good as that cosy, nostalgic feeling that comes with that time of year. I am in my early 20's. I'm bi (but maybe with a guy for this? :) ). I'm the oldest to 3 siblings. I've worked with kids my whole life. I suffer with chronic pain and anxiety and I want to be an addictions and mental health counselor to help people like me!
I am a huge reader! I love most genres but I'm a big dark romance, thriller and history nerd. I'm almost always reading a few books at a time lol. I'll do digital, hard copies or audio, the more the merrier.
I'm a huge history buff as well. I will learn a little about a plethora of different time periods and then deep dive into ones that peak my interest. Ancient Greece/Rome, the 40's and the Victorian period are a few that come to mind.
I love the look of the '70s as well. My style definitely has some influences from the era. I'm also a bit of a hippie. All peace and love and positive vibes here <3
I also love a huge range of music, classic rock to folk to pop to country. I listen to it all! I love my Zeppelin, Louis Tomlinson, Noah Kahan, Jake Wesley Rogers, guns and roses, David Bowie, Harry styles, imagine dragons and Mumford and Suns just to name a few!
My love language is physical touch and gift giving. I'm constantly wanting to remind my partner know I love them by holding their hand, cuddling, playing with their hair, etc. If we become friends in any regard, I will be feeding you. I'll bake homemade treats, suprise you with coffee and doughnuts on a bad day or make you a full dinner just cuz I missed you. It's just how I show I love you!
All my friends call me a grandma I'm constantly checking on my friends, I always have food and little candies in my purse in case you get hungry, I am a homebody, my family is extremely important to me, I'm learning to knit and I have to make sure everyone is good before me.
In a relationship I love little (or big) romantic gestures. Remembering my Starbucks order or building a fort for a horror movie night, etc. I find it very attractive when they get a bit over protective. I also am a sucker for pet names and all that lovey dovey stuff.
Sorry for any bad grammer or if it's just way too much! I have a bad habit of ranting. Thank you so so much in advance! Have the best day
Ps. I love your page! I stumbled on it not too long ago and I'm hooked! Keep up the fantastic work friend <333
OMG HI. IM SERIOUS I LOVE YOU IN A NOT CREEPY WAY YOURE SO COOL AND YOU LIKE LOUIS TOMLINSON AHAGSYSFWYEVDUGKVOFPEHATF PLEASE YOU SOUND AMAZINF AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFO IT MEANS SO MUCH I HOPE YOU ENJOY BABES!!!!!

i ship you with thor!!!
he would 100% sing along to all of your songs because he is a himbo and i love him. he also fucking LOVES your stretch marks and hip dips. pls let him kiss every single mark on your body he will do it with a smile. he plays with your hair all the time and he loves it. he has a christmas playlist for that time of year and he decorates with you and gets all cozy and makes you watch ELF every single year so he can laugh at the same parts. he’s always worrying about you and the pain you’re in but he always helps the best he can <333
he BEGS you to read some books to him and he gets really invested. he wants to tell you all about Asgard and in return you can tell him about all the history you know!! he LOVES you clothes and begs you to pick some out for him as well. he’s the type to want to match outfits. he screams Hardy Styles and Louis Tomlinson any chance he gets.
i fucking love that you’re the grandma friend i NEED one of those in my life that’s so cute.
thor loves it too. teach him how to bake please. he needs the help before he burns your house down hahah.
thor notices EVERY detail about you. your drink order, the way you like your hair, the way you focus, what movies you cry at, what your comfort movies are, a phrase you say a lot, etc. he’s very perceptive. he makes cute date nights like picnics and pillow forts so you guys can watch shrek (my perfect date ngl.) or a preferred movie.
he’s such a golden retriever bf and i think you need that bc you’re the grandma and all grandmas have cute hyper dogs so that’s my thought process!!!!!

FRIENDS
URGENT (not really, medium urgent)
Im writing a script for a (kinda long) short film and I am desperately searching for music that is anywhere near the tone of the script but unfortunately YouTube and even spotify don't know how to sort genres correctly (fuckin bonkers. What do you mean THE MUSIC APP doesn't know how any genres and doesn't know how to put together playlists that are what they say they are!!!)
The general idea of the script is that we're watching a kid grow up (starting at abt 5, kindergarten age) until they're about 18 (not sure about that, might have it end a couple years after, I'll get to it). It's going to be a bunch of snapshots of this kid's life as they grow up, put into sections marked by birthdays! It's (planned to be) filmed in a very home made way, as if a parent is recording these snapshots of their kid so they can all look back on it later.
The general tone is gonna be happy, there will be some sad parts in the actual film but those aren't the main point. Any of me talking abt making the viewers sad is more "make them sad bc they're seeing this life go by so fast". Like how people (me) cry at slideshows of random moments in a kids life leading up to a big event...
Ahem, page break bc the actual point of this post is going to be long. Below the break is the list of music I'm looking for!! (Doesn't need to be copyright free, I'm mostly looking for inspiration music rn)
SO, I'm looking for music to fit a few vibes, im probably gonna make different playlists in general, but here are The Needs
General note: (I'd prefer songs with an "indie" vibe -- meaning songs without big technical instruments like synths or electric guitar riffs lol, I don't think any pop or metal type music would fit here)
- anti-folk (excluding folk-punk. A little confusing sorry! Think of the Juno soundtrack or most of kimya dawson. It's really that bright and happy, vibrant sounding music that I need)
- folk (general, soft guitar and no harsh vocals, famous songs are good too! Something that ppl would feel like they know even if they don't. Nostalgia country... Think "time in a bottle" - Jim Croce. I need that down to earth, slow and chill music yk?)
- folk-rock (are you seeing a pattern?) (Also idk if this is the right term, for this I mean music like The Lumineers, Vance Joy, the kind of music you'd hear on the radio around 2010-2016 but NON EXPLICIT) (there is a concerning amount of music we listened to as kids that was just. Just about sex. Wack)
- kids music! (By this I mean specific recordings of nostalgic kids songs, not just nursery rhymes tho! This is the real "devastate the viewers" music. My example for this is "little bird little bird" by Elizabeth Mitchell, though I'd like any kind of recorded kids songs! Double points if there's a kid singing in them.)
+ I want to say classical but I don't know how to explain the kind I'm looking for? Something that you could listen to while reading a book in a field???
+ generally calm or chill music! Piano, guitar, harmonica, and soft vocals.
I don't have any other ideas currently but yeah! If anyone has any music (single songs or playlists!!) I will accept anything!!!! I'm just looking for ANYTHING to help me focus on this writing bc I really wanna get this script done 😭😭😭

Eve!!!! Need your thoughts about Taylor's album!!!! 💓💓💓💓💓💓
i love getting asked :”(((((( :”))))))) thank uuuuuuuu. let’s get to it. as usual, it’s an almost-first impression (normally i write my basic thoughts during the first listen – yeah i’d started doing it before getting this, you know, just in case – and then i review them w a second one, where i also select my favourite passage). sooo, let’s go
♡♡♡♡
the 1 — such sweet yet heartbreaking lyrics... very soft sound, if it sets the mood for the album im 100 per cent in! This one didn’t stick w me after one listen, but after the second i was like wooow! I love how she says waking up alone ughhh. 8
fave lyrics: persist and resist the temptation to ask you / if one thing had been different / would everything be different today?
cardigan — !!!!!!! the sound has that bittersweet something that gets under your skin and makes you nostalgic for something you can’t even pinpoint. it reminds me of the softest lana, especially in nfr (eg bartender!!). i’m in awe. instant obsession!!!! the ending takes you to another plane of existence – ‘cause i knew everything when i was young... i knew you’d miss me... you’d come back to me. also i’m crying. 10+
[it’s hard to choose bc the whole song reads like poetry but i’m especially obsessed w] giving me your weekends; once in twenty lifetimes; tried to change the ending / peter losing wendy; you drew stars around my scars
the last great american dynasty — storytelling on pointttt and sound, too! telling the story of someone she bought her house from?? the genius jumped out. she paints it like a romantic portrait, mad woman pacing on the shore, but then also gatsbian, the crazy parties, dali... and then takes it back to today w the key lime green dog, idk, iconic. i want to know this woman. this song truly takes you somewhere else, i thought it was a bit repetitive but then the bridge came in and the final vocals plus i had a marvelous time ruining everything, i have to stan! 8+
there goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen / she had a marvelous time ruining everything
exile — ok wow, bon iver’s voice is something else!!!! i was kind of ignorant when it came to him, i admit. his depth and rasp paired with how angelic she sounds... heavenly. sound-wise, but also thematically, this vaguely reminds me of tomorrow never came w lana and sean ono lennon. (one of my fave songs of all time maybe?). the way they enunciate i think i’ve seen this film before is literally a work of art all in itself, not to mention – well i’m mentioning it bc it’s worth it! – the you never gave a warning sign vs the way she goes over it w i gave so many signs. god this makes me feel sooooo sad and like, involved. it’s so beautiful. 10
you’re not my homeland anymore / so what am i defending now?
my tears ricochet — ok wtfffff??? everything about this speaks to my soul. the airy voice, the way she sets the scene... sunlit room, the funeral metaphor, you turned into your worst fears. i didn’t have it in myself to go with grace speaks to me more than anything, but just, everything about the lyrics. truly something else, cursing my name / wishing i stayed gives me chills everytime she says it. the beat that gets more insistent towards the end, with the bridge....... the high notes that then fade..... just wow. 10
and i can go anywhere i want / anywhere i want, just not home / and you can aim for my heart, go for blood / but you would still miss me in your bones / and i still talk to you when i’m screaming at the sky / and when you can’t sleep at night you hear my stolen lullabies
mirrorball — love the lyrics, maybe a bit less the sound? i mean i do love the sound, so far i’m loving how softly produced and coherent this album is, but this one i wouldn’t listen to on repeat and maybe there’s something a bit whiny that i don’t love. powerful meaning tho, and who’d use a mirrorball as a metaphor for feeling like you’re fragile, trying too hard to be a people-pleaser and no one sees the real you? 7
i’m still trying everything to keep you looking at me
seven — ah........ i started crying as soon as this one started, pleeease picture me in the trees, i hit my peak at seven....... like ok there’s no need to go that hard??? it’s so dreamy and like... naïf? in a perfect way. the way she says i still got love for you...... and everything else... she mentions folk songs... the purest love described in the purest way. i don’t think i have enough words to descrive the way this song moves me. like i want to listen to it again and again, to be able to feel like that again, but also i’m almost scared to listen bc it touches me too deeply. i still will tho hehe. 10+ (also just realised this is track 7 ok makes sense but my mind is blown. 100)
[this is literally deeper than a shakespeare sonnet so everything literally is my fave but, having to choose] and i’ve been meaning to tell you / i think your house is haunted / your dad is always mad and that must be why / and i think you should come live with me / and we can be pirates / then you won’t have to cry / or hide in the closet / and just like a folk song / our love will be passed on
august — i love the contrast between the lighthearted, happy singing and guitars and the sad lyrics. the story it tells is so simple and yet there’s so much poetry in that... plus it reminds me of fearless or even speak now?? which are like. the taylor that gets to my heart, tbh. the bridge and the outro made the song for me. 8,5
for me, it was enough / to live for the hope of it all / canceled plans just in case you’d call
this is me trying — oh god... lyrically this song is so raw and honest, it gives me chills! i do have to say, i don’t love how she says i just wanted to know (like metrically?? idk, im weird) but these are really just small comments on amazing songs, bc i feel like all i’m saying is wow this is great, lyrics and sound, but it truly is a complete and consistent work of art, easily listened to top to bottom each time. 8-
they told me all of my cages were mental / so got wasted like all my potential / and my words shoot to kill when i’m mad / i have a lot of regrets about that
illicit affairs — ok this goes without saying but i love storyteller taylor, it’s the taylor i grew up loving and singing to in my room. the thing about most of these songs, this one included, is that they probably grow on you after a few listens, bc they’re not made to be catchy, the production and backgrounds are always very soft and some i love more than others. this one musically maybe isn’t my fave but the narration is on point, and the bridge?? the fuckkkk. plus it has one of mt favourite themes ever which is so rarely spoken about, which is the fact that language you only speak w a particular someone you love, makes you miss them even more when they’re gone. or well not exactly this but i can’t put it into words, she did tho. 8+
you taught me a secret language i can’t speak with anyone else / and you know damn well / for you, i would ruin myself / a million little times
invisible string — the color theme!!! the guitar strumming!!! and the idea of an invisible tie w someone special... i do think she outdid herself w this album. again, not my fave soundwise, maybe slightly whiny when she goes meEeeEee? but, lyrically adorable and moving. 7,5
one single thread of gold / tied me to you
mad woman — maam...... this is iconic shit........ how could she say stuff like this w such a dreamy, breathy voice. musically i get huuuge lana’a nfr vibes again (which i mean. goals) but i also adore that lyrically it’s so taylor, no one would say this shit the way she does. adore how she sings to wrap your news around and bonus for women like hunting witches too, i do love me a nod to the fact that some women are so deeply filled w machism that they’re basically men in disguise. 8,5
every time you call me crazy, i get more crazy / what about that? / and when you say i seem angry, i get more angry [isn’t this just womanhood condensed in a few lines]
epiphany — aw! it sounds like a lullaby, maybe it’s slightly ‘boring’ for my taste? meaning i get distracted which is surely a shame bc the words seem beautiful, but it’s so soft i just drift off? but reading the lyrics – for focus hehe – i’m moved. 7+
only twenty minutes to sleep / but you dream of some epiphany / just one single glimpse of relief / to make some sense of what you’ve seen
betty — okay byeeeeeeeeee. this is taylor at her finest! countryyyyyyyy, storytelling, lesbian jdjdfk no yeah I know I knowww, romance went sour. gut wrenching and beautiful, this feels like... watching a sad teen movie but w a sepia filter, idk. i dreamt of you all summer long oh my......... it’s like og taylor from her iconic first couple of albums came back but w all her baggage and growth and experience and better than ever. also why does taylor sing so wel about being in love w a woman????? well. 10+
betty, right now is the last time / i can dream about what happens when / you see my face again
peace — ..........yes yes yes. the high notes, the honesty, the syncopated parts where she says so much so quick and yet it still hits you. it’s not even a short song but it ends too soon, it goes by like that..... a poem. omg it just hit me this has flo vibes! especially from high as hope, for example grace or south london forever?? i mean... taylor doing alt folk country pop...... queen. give you my wild, give you a child?? ok ok. 10
all these people think love’s for show / but i would die for you in secret
hoax — weeeell the lana inspo jumped out w that piano!!!!! and like. mood. and lyrics...... this reminds me of wuthering heights or of lana’s tormented love stories (shades of blue.....). a powerful closer. poetry. 9
i am ash from your fire
♡♡♡♡
okkkkk this was a flattering review, very well deserved imo since the review is mine gjgjhkhk i agree w myself. thank you again and as i always say, feel free to come back w your comments! and have a great dayyyyy! much love

ok lads its time for my breakdown of folklore, something absolutely no one is asking for but here we are!! this album. thIs ALBUMMMM. dear GOD. the intersection of my two favorite things, taylor swift and indie folk???? i feel like i’m dreaming. when she announced the surprise drop i literally burst into tears and evidently for good reason lol.
anywho here’s the thing. Red has been my all time favorite album for 8 years now. it holds such an important place in my life and i never thought anything she did could come close (though Lover almost did). but this. THIS IS BETTER THAN RED
the lyrical genius is unmatched here. taylor isn’t just writing songs here, this is POETRY. every song is nuanced, intricate, devastatingly beautiful, with words that’ll haunt me for a long time. and the fact that it’s stories, literal folklore, no longer just about her own life is incredibly creative and is executed so well for someone who has interwoven her life into her entire body of music thus far. folklore blends facts with fiction so seamlessly and is a true exhibition of taylor’s power as a songwriter.
and the vibessss!! from haunting heartbreak songs, to ethereal lost-in-the-woods vibes, to a comforting return to her old self, this album has everything. taylor is without a doubt one of the most versatile artists of our generation, having success and skill in multiple genres and folklore only solidifies this fact.
ALL RIGHT KIDS LETS JUMP IN
the 1: hell yeah explicit tswift give it to me lol you ARE on some new shit!! ok when i first listened to this i hadn’t read her statement about the other perspectives and i was about to RIOT about her and joe breaking up (like they could ever lol). this is such a catchy beat, such a casual?? look at such a painful feeling? a really good start to this album. the part where she goes another day waking up aLONE killlllllls me wow
fave lines: “in my defense i have none/for never leaving well enough alone”
cardigan: (don’t get me started on the mv it’s gorgeous) YES THE TEENAGE LOVE TRIANGLE suchhh a good concept!! the melody of this song is unreal, the chorus makes me want to scream it’s so beautiful, the i-i-i is SOMETHING ELSE. it’s crazy how just the melody makes betty’s pain so palpable, but so enchanting at the same time. it’s bittersweet and cinematic and i’m in love. PETER LOSING WENDY GOD. easily top 5 song here
fave lines: “when you are young they assume you know nothing”, “cause i knew you/ heartbeat on the high line/ once in 20 lifetimes i” “you drew stars around my scars/but now i’m bleeding”
the last great american dynasty: watch hill!!! her watch hill house!! i live near there!! oh i think this song is so clever and i love how it ties into mad woman as well as harkens back to starlight. i LOVE the way she ties her self in, “and then it was bought by me” like ughhh her mind? and its catchy AF
fave lines: “i had a marvelous time ruining everything”
exile: YOU KNOW HOW TO DO AN INDIE ALBUM??? BRING BON IVER INTO THIS SHIT!! wowww this song is haunting and is definitely the “i’m you but stronger” version of The Last Time. the overlap of both of them singing and their parallel lines are flawless. i could play this on repeat for hours and contemplate my whole existence
fave lines: “you never gave a warning sign/i gave so many signs”
my tears ricochet: ok somehow a track 5 with tears in the title is not the saddest song here but DAMN is it good. I love the visual of someone watching over their funeral and reacting. the music is stunningggg here. ALSO i am pretty convinced this is about the whole scott/scooter drama, like the lyrics fit so well? and she said it was the first song she wrote so the timeline kinda fits?? geniusss
fave lines: “I didn’t have it in myself to go with grace”, “and if i’m dead to you/why are you at the wake?”
mirrorball: ohhhh this one is so pretty!! it just makes me want to dance around the kitchen with the person i love??? its comforting, ethereal, happyyy ugh i love it. I also think it could be about her relationship with her fans? like her music shows us different sides of ourselves idk? or just absorbing into a relationship?
fave lines: “on my tallest tiptoes/shining just for you”
seven: i’m gonna call this now: this is going to be the most underrated song on this album. it is STUNNING. POETIC. HEARTBREAKING. the music is so hauntingly nostalgic. and the lyrics, holy absolute shit. they’re a delicate testament to childhood, memory, and innocent love. it’s gut wrenching and i love it so so much
fave lines: “i’ve been meaning to tell you/i think your house is haunted/your dad is always mad/and that must be why”, “and just like folk song/our love will be passed on”, “before i learned civility/ i used to scream ferociously” ALL OF IT
august: and now we get the girl james cheated with’s perspective, which i think is great. its sunny, wistful and sad underneath all that beautiful production. when she slides from the chorus to the “back when we we’re changing for the better” and hits that “mineeee to lose” GOD, it just fills your chest. i feel like even if you never have, this makes anyone feel like they know exactly what a summer fling feels like. one of my faves
fave lines: “august slipped away/like a bottle of wine”, “cancel my plans just in case you call/ and say meet me behind the mall”
this is me trying: the slow pacing of this melody serves to show these EXQUISITE lyrics here. this is so intimate and personal and i feel like everyone can relate to this feeling of just trying to hold on and put on a brave face?
fave lines: “they told me all of my cages were mental/ so i got wasted like all my potential”
illicit affairs: ok all you need to know about this one is a) I’m obsessed b) this is the closest she has come to creating a bridge that makes me feel like the All Too Well bridge has, like scream sobbing in the car type vibe??? its unreal. and this song makes me feel that shitty feeling of: “this was supposed to be casual but oops its very much not” hmmm maybe that’s where the scream sobbing comes from hahah
fave lines: “don’t call me kid/don’t call me baby/look at this godforsaken mess that you made me/you showed me colors you know i can’t see with anyone else”
invisible string: this. THIS is probably her most stunning love song. like. i thought it was Lover. i was wrong. this one is confidently from Taylor’s perspective, about Joe and dear lord i want a love like theirs. and shit does this song put the folk in folklore, the music is so simple and gorgeous and harkens back to her country roots without losing this new sound she has. and the first few notes remind me of Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens so instantly im sold. this and betty are tied for my number 1, it’s just too beautiful
fave lines: “time curious time/give me no compasses/give me no signs” “isn’t it just so pretty to think/all along there was some invisible string/tying you to me”, “cold was steel of the axe that i had to grind/for the boys who broke my heart/now i buy their babies presents”, “hell was the journey/but it brought me heaven”
mad woman: FUCK YOU FOREVERRRRRR!!! yes taylor said fuckkkk ugh i LOVE this vibe, the revenge of the mad woman that the town cast out is so eerie and powerful, i’m obsessed. it ties back into the maddest woman of TLGAD and it feels like a spiritual sequel to The Man, the same feminist thread weaving through it. the lyrics are razor sharp and biting, i love it
fave lines: “and you poke that bear/till the claws come out/ and you find something/ to wrap your noose around”, “it’s obvious wanting me dead has really brought you two together”
epiphany: so uhhh THIS is the saddest song on folklore. fight me. the seamless comparison between wartime and the pandemic and waiting for some epiphany that could make sense of all the horrors surrounding the both. idk man, as someone who’s been a covid nurse since March, i just….this one HURTS. similar to Soon You’ll Get Better tbh
fave lines: “hold your hand through plastic now/doc i think she’s crashing out/and somethings you just can’t speak about”
betty: OH I LOVE IT WITH MY WHOLE HEART! this is such a TRIUMPHANT return to old taylor, it is so joyful but sad at the same time?? the harmonica?? the last part of the love triangle?? it sounds like Taylor Swift and Fearless all grown up and it makes me ache for back then, but love where we are right now. tbh the first time i heard this i sobbed through the whole thing just out of pure nostalgia. she’s back but at the same time she never left. this feels like a love song to original fans and it. is. incredible. my favoriteeee goddd
fave lines: THE WHOLE CHORUS BABYYYYY
peace: it’s gorgeous, especially the guitarrr ugh. this feels like delicate’s quiet older sister. i think it’s definitely about joe and how taylor, despite loving him, still has these insecurities and fears about what a relationship with someone in her position could be like? like there will be struggles, but he’s her family and she “would die for you in secret”. stunning
fave lines: “i’m a fire and i’ll keep your brittle heart warm”, “the devils in the detail/but you’ve got a friend in me”, “give you my wild/give you a child”
hoax: i’m surprised she ended it on a sad one (but we still have the lakes!!) but this song is hauntingly beautiful WOW. every line of this absolutely floors me. i think this one will also be largely underrated, but it is pure poetry and deserves so so much hype
fave lines: “stood on the cliffside/screaming give me a reason/your faithless love’s the only hoax i believe in”, “it still hurts underneath my scars/from when they pulled me apart/but what you did was just as dark” “my kingdom come undone/ my broken drum/ you have beaten my heart”
ANYWHO TAYLOR HAS PRODUCED HER BEST WORK TO DATE AND IM READY FOR SAD GIRL AUTUMN

once you get around to listening to lover what did you think !!! im v curious on your opinions about it heh
thank u for wanting my opinion. i thought i was gonna make it a brief review thingy but i cannot be brief for the life of me. i’m sorry. anyway,
i’mthankful it’s a long album because based on me! i knew i’d like it. not thatme! is a masterpiece or anything but it’s brighter and more fun than herprevious era which i Did Not like. i know reputation is, taylor swift history-wise, important. it’san album she did no press for and allowed the songs speak for themselves and i really like this idea and the sentiment behind it, i’m just Not A Fan of the execution. edgy taylor swift doesn’twork for me. don’t blame me slaps tho. i’ll probably compare these songs to alot of reputation, sorry.
anyway. loveris a more colorful album and probably my favorite pop album from ms. swift, i’m not good at like. Grading things so i won’t be like ‘this is a 8.5 kind of album’ cause like. i don’t know numbers? what you need to know is that it’s a good album. let’s gowith the tracks:
may i add that this is not coming from a taylor swift fan, however i have several friends who are into taylor swift so it’s hard not to get the slightest 2nd hand interest.
i forgot that you existed: was excited as soon as it started! theproduction is lighter and less dramatic. i feel like contrary to reputationwhere she was kind of obsessed with the people who hurt her and betrayed her inthe previous years, this song is a nice way of letting go. a nicer, yet stillkind of shady, revenge by being like. Oh. You Mean Nothing To Me Anymore.
fave lyrics: “it isn’t love, it isn’thate, it’s just indifference so.. yeah.”
cruel summer: the chorus…. amazing! i remember reallydisliking her reputation singles, especially “ready for it” because it was veryunnecessarily dark and, again – in my opinion – dark and edgy doesn’t work fortaylor swift.  BUT, rfi had that chorusthat escaped the intense beats and kind of went back a little to her 1989 eraand it’s the one thing from the song that i actually tolerated. and i feel likeall of cruel summer is song that fits the melody of the rfi chorus better thanrfi itself. does that make sense?
fave lyrics:the entire bridge but especially: “i don’twanna keep secrets just to keep you” and “i love you, ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?”
lover: 11/10. fucked me the fuck up. it’s a song aboutlove that isn’t a still-too-fresh-and-uncertain love, or some angsty love. it’sjust love. she’s properly in love and is singing about it with somuch care and certainty. it’s a happy song about the one she loves and how could i hate it? bestsong in the entire album. probably my 2nd fave taylor swift song ofall time
favelyrics: “with every guitar string scar onmy hand” so much is being said in this one fucking line. i absolutelyfucking love it. the fact that this song was 100% written by her is a big plus.
the man: honestly was kinda stressed about the kind of discoursethis one could cause, especially cause of the lack of addressing the whitenessof it all but idk. this is her ownexperience so how much can we ask from her? and also in many ways this feels like 5years late but i’m not gonna complain about this. better late than never (andshe has addressed sexism in her songs before so it’s not like she’s just starting at feminism). she’s made severalpoints w this one and it sounds good.
favelyrics: the part where she’s like “what if i was bragging about the models i’mfucking?” cause like. girl is aware of aspecific group in her fandom and i appreciate the little nod (it being real ornot)
archer: love the lyrics. this was like. the 3rdsong from this album that she released and i was So Relieved to actually SEEsongwriter taylor swift coming through. it’s a great song about self hatred andreflection, etc. but i’ve listened to it enough times to know i’m gonna be skippingthis one when i’m listening to this album.
favelyrics: “screaming ‘who could ever leaveme darling?’ but who could stay?”
i think he knows: the chorus and her vocals… *chef’s kiss*. loveit. cute crush song. more mature yet fun style that works for her.
fave lyrics:all of the chorus.
miss americana: i get it, i see the politics of it all but. i’mgonna skip it. soz
favelyrics: “my team is losing, battered andbruising i see the high fives between the bad guys”
paper rings: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS. again, pure, happy, bubbly, unashamed love. a love bop that i adore.
fave lyrics:“i like shiny things but i’d marry youwith paper rings / i hate accidents except when we went from friends to this”
corneliastreet: it’s a nostalgic song that i can’t decide if it’s exactly abreak-up song or not. i like to think the “sacrednew beginning / that became my religion” lyrics are a nod to her bestreputation song aka don’t blame me. i’m so-so on this one but it’s definitely notbad, don’t think i’ll be skipping it for now.
favelyrics: “that’s the kinda heartbreak timecould never mend / (…) and baby i get mystified by how this city scream yourname”
death by a thousand cuts: eh? it’s nice and soft and sad-ish but. idk.not right now - since the album is still pretty fresh to me - but i’ll probablystart skipping this one eventually.
favelyrics: “you said it was a great love, one for the ages / but if the story’s over why am I still writing pages?”
bondon boy: i am so sorry for every londoner that had tolisten to this one. i could hear it being offensive as soon as she startedsaying those words. it sounds nice and fun but jesus christ taylor. it’s likesomeone from her label said “you gottamake it clear you’re fucking that joe dude or your album won’t sell” andtaylor immediately googled ‘british slang’ and wrote this song.
fave lyrics:“but something happened i heard himlaughing / i saw the dimples first and then i heard the accent” i’m asimple phannie. i hear the word dimples i think of dan
soon you’ll get better: bro. was not ready. you can hear thepain and fear in her voice. the chorus kind of reminds me of “never grow up”(aka my fave taylor swift song), etc. the sad, almost hopeless addition of “cause you have to” is so heartbreaking. it’sa personal and gorgeous yet sad song, and she goes back to her country roots for this one,so that’s nice. absolutely beautiful.
fave lyrics:hard to choose but “you like the nicernurses you make the best of a bad deal / i just pretend it isn’t real / i’llpaint the kitchen neon, i’ll brighten up the sky / i know i’ll never get itthere’s not a day that i won’t try” i hate, hate, the notion ofromanticizing a sad and scary situation like this one, and i think i understandthis as less of romanticizing and more of sympathizing with, cause i’ve alsobee in this situation with my family – but because it was just a few days agothat phil revealed his father’s battle with cancer, i couldn’t help but thinkof him too and how much he must have feared for his dad while still trying to keep it together for everyone around him.
false god: love the sax. i know i will fully love thissong at some point. i know it. i’m just not there yet. i like the parts when she has torush her words. i’ll get there with this one.
favelyrics: “they all warned us about timeslike this / they say the road gets hard and you get lost”
you need to calm down: fun, boppy, cute. i get what shewas going for and appreciate it. it’s a more carefree pop song and i’m okaywith it. not unskippable though.
fave lyrics:“and i ain’t tryna mess with your self expressionbut i’ve learned a lesson that stressing and obsessing bout somebody else is nofun”
afterglow: i don’t know yet. probably one i’ll skip. notbad, i don’t think there’s a song in this album that is necessarily Bad, butthis one is just not really memorable.
fave lyrics:don’t have one actually. soz
me!: definitely not a masterpiece BUT introduced usto this era which is probably her best pop era. i loved the absolute changefrom the reputation era, bringing back colors, bringing back fun, introducing amore politically active taylor swift, etc. i also like the idea that she knowsthat this is not her best work but she knew that if she was gonna make a catchyradio friendly pop song, she’d make one that’s about self love, etc.
fave lyrics: i’m a simple girl, “me e e e, o o o oh”
it’s nice to have a friend: this folk-y vibe? works? is thisfolk? sorry if im being dumb. but it has a lonely vibe, it’s kind of really sadin a way, but it’s lovely at the same time.
fave lyrics:“something gave you the nerve / to touchmy hand”
daylight: a song about letting go and forgiving herselffor her past mistakes and learning to focus on the good parts of her life, morespecifically her lover. like new year’s eve was to reputation, this is a nicesong to wrap this album.
fave lyrics:“you are what you love”

Joseph Burnett 2017 Review: Nostalgia for the Light
Tumblr media
Back in days of yore (well, the 19th century), nostalgia was believed to be an illness so debilitating it could compromise the fate of an army were too many soldiers “infected.” One Russian general even threatened to bury his troops alive if they came down with nostalgia. It’s hard to imagine what the clearly charming general would make of our current times, so steeped are we in waves of competing nostalgia.
I’m one to talk, of course. The below list of albums shows that retrenchment into the past has at times been a great escape for me, musically, as 2017 quickly resolved itself into a right shitter of a year both personally and in the grander scheme of things. I’ve found myself actually nostalgic for the tiny, damp and claustrophobic apartment my ex and I used to rent because we were at least — in my mind — happy then. But that’s the thing about nostalgia: it doesn’t allow for a very nuanced image of what reality was. We certainly did have some good times in said bolthole, but surely the problems that swam into heartbreaking focus only a year or so later (and in a much nicer flat) were already there?
In politics — and this doesn’t get mentioned enough — nostalgia seems to have become a driving force. Trump vows to make America great again, without really elaborating on when it was that America was great in the first place. If one is to believe Roy Moore, it was that glorious period when slavery was a reality and you could still kill gays. But at least there was cholera and high levels of infant mortality to offset the troublesome fact that people were owned as goods and chattel. A similar vein of nostalgia has animated the Brexit debate on this side of the pond, as right-wing Brexiters hit out at “political correctness” and the European Court of Justice’s human rights laws along the road to the UK leaving the EU. Again, one can’t help but feel that the glorious past they pine for mainly revolved around being able to use ethnic slurs and homophobic insults on their way to a packed church on the edge of the village green armed with a blue passport. As with my domestic situation and Trump’s supporters, this nostalgia conveniently ignores unpalatable truths: the fifties right-wing nostalgics dream of actually included polio, rationing and the threat of nuclear annihilation. So it’s not really that different to today, except the polio bit. In that context, I’d say a bit of opprobrium directed towards racism, homophobia, transphobia and antisemitism represents progress.
So once again, as a wave of distorted nostalgia in part propels us towards an uncertain, even scary future, music has felt like a refuge. It’s becoming a tiresome leitmotiv, really. But the past is threaded through the below list, either as a nostalgic signpost or as a fictionalized unreality. Richard Dawson, on his superlative Peasant, reimagines medieval life in a series of epic, unfathomable and beautiful songs. The folk resurgence remains steady, despite the best attempts of lacklustre Mumford & Sons-like mainstream acts to dilute its potency. June Tabor’s Quercus released Nightfall, the most authentically “folk” album to have emerged in 2017, despite its jazz flourishes, with classic traditional songs echoing through the ages like ghosts. Similar phantasms crop up on Sarah Angliss’s Ealing Feeder to tell the hidden, murky story of London. Like the camera movements in John Sayles’ Lone Star, the past swirls around us listeners on these records, as well as on the crystalline chamber jazz of Tarkovsky Quartet’s Nuit Blanche whilst Elodie’s pair of superb instrumental albums are suffused with the nostalgic atmosphere of Proust. And there have been few more haunted albums of late than Áine O’Dwyer’s Gallarais.
Over on the dance floor, experimentation remains a vibrant way to concoct new sounds, with some of the most exciting producers around taking their already impressive music to new levels. Lee Gamble, Jlin, Actress, Laurel Halo, Shackleton, Arca: all released superb albums in 2017 that dragged the field of electronic music forwards, even those that looked into the past (the Ghost Box label continues to fascinate as it mines old TV music, computer game imagery and found sounds, with ToiToiToi’s Im Hag successfully reinventing the label’s perpetual motion wheel).
But in a world of Trump and rising right-wing populism, defiance has resonated most powerfully for me as an emotion. Irreversible Entanglements channeled the spirit of Max Roach’s Freedom Now Suite and Jeanne Lee’s majestic invective on Conspiracy to deliver a monumental invective against white privilege and the mistreatment of African Americans throughout time. Jlin’s Black Origami maintained the politically-charged, hyperactive energy of her debut Dark Energy and Mhysa contorted notions of gender and sexuality with an inventive form of r’n’b.
Even in such illustrious company, one voice seemed to soar out of the abyss most forcefully. A strain of disillusionment has always run through Gary Mundy’s work in Ramleh or other projects, but on his latest solo outing as Kleistwahr he has hit new heights of despondency and despair. Determined to champion his own outsider status, Mundy baptized his album  —a wondrous swarm of haunted guitar and seething electronics — Music for Zeitgeist Fighters. It’s a beautiful cry of rejection as the zeitgeist becomes the plaything Trump and Spencer, Farage and Murdoch, a call to arms for all who abhor the views seeping into the mainstream to scream “not in my name!.”
The great Chilean documentary director Patricio Guzmán’s most celebrated film is called Nostalgia for the Light and it traces that country’s traumatic history through the prism of the Atacama desert being one of the best places on earth to observe the stars. In that context, nostalgia becomes a way to reconcile oneself with the past and, perhaps, start looking for new light in the future. Maybe all who oppose the rise of right-wing demagoguery, be they musicians, activists, politicians and even lowly journalists, can find ways to look backwards to build a better tomorrow. If the world is going to be swallowed by pernicious nostalgia, it must be fought with a hopeful variety of that Russian general’s bugbear in turn.

Albums of 2016
My albums of 2016, not exactly in order of preference:
Blackstar - David Bowie
One of the first albums released in the year just preceding Bowie’s death by a few days. I had listened briefly to the album before Bowie died and at that point, I was already astonished that Bowie could still turn out something as epic, weird and uplifting as the song Blackstar. It’s a great start to what is an incredibly strong album even by Bowie’s standards. Other songs, like Lazarus and, my favourite, the poignant I Can’t Give Everything Away, gained increased impact in the context that he was dying as he made them. The album reminds me of Bowie’s Hours from 1999, which also saw him reflecting back on his life and mortality. Both albums are favourites of mine, even if not the happiest songs of his career.
Prospect of Skelmersdale - The Magnetic North
Never heard of these until recommended to me, I think , as being like a folk-orientated Saint Etienne. The comparison is a good one. It holds together thematically, with the whole album being inspired by Skelmersdale, reminiscent again of Saint Etienne, who have written so many albums and songs about London. It’s hard to describe as an album -it sounds retro, at times like it was recorded in the 60s which adds a nostalgic feel. The sound is full with sweet melodic vocals and notes of orchestral music throughout. Well worth seeking out.
The Hope Six Demoitiolon Project - PJ Harvey
Whilst this feels very much like a companion to Let England Shake sonically, it doesn’t quite seem to feel as coherent as an album. Im not trying to put it down too much - Let England Shake was a Mercury Music prize-winning masterpiece, after all. It has a few more straight forward rock songs with The Community of Hope and The Wheel feeling like more obvious single material than anything off recent PJ albums. Both songs are highlights, but it’s the end of side one (on vinyl at least), that it reaches its high point with the beautiful River Anacostia and I can see why PJ chose that song to end her 2016 live performances which I was lucky enough to catch in Wolverhampton after iPlayer-ing her Glastonbury performance to death.
Choreography - Bright Light Bright Light
I love the first two albums by Bright Light Bright Light and had high expectations of this. What hit me about this is the 80s stylings, which sort of made sense once I read that it had been inspired by Rod Thomas's favourite dance scenes from 80s movies. After listening a bit more to the album, I think some of the tracks are the greatest he has written so far. Into the Night is probably his most uplifting pop song since the epic Disco Moment on his first album and songs like Where is the Heartache and Symmetry of Two Hearts Are just perfect pop single material.
Wild Things - Ladyhawke
I loved Ladyhawke's debut album, but I seemed to give up with her second album after a couple of listens. Having caught hearing A Love Song once, I pre-ordered on the strength of that track alone (so Facebook advertising does work sometimes). The album is full of incredibly catchy songs and I’m amazed it hasn’t spawned a hit yet. A Love Song, The River, Wild Things or Golden Girl all seem perfect chart material, she deserves more success with this.
Take Her Up To Monto - Roisin Murphy
Ten Miles High has to be the best thing Murphy has released since the Overpowered album (it’s not quite as good as Movie Star, but not many songs are!) This album is wonderfully weird, and it does take some work. It’s not that far removed from Hairless Toys, but the song structures are looser in places. It is ultimately a very rewarding album blending danceable electronics like Mastermind with a range of more melancholy offerings such as Thoughts Wasted and Whatever.
Girl At The End Of The World - James
Since reforming in 2008, James haven’t put out a bad album and this is no different. There are the obvious soon to be James classics like Nothing But Love, but I love this album for songs like Surfers Song and the stand out Attention which remind me of their earlier epic songs like Sound and Born of Frustration. I’m sure Attention could have been dragged out another few minutes as it ends far too soon.
Joanne - Lady Gaga
After reading the early reviews, I had very low expectations for this. I think she’s had fairly harsh treatment as, in my opinion, this is far better than the car crash that was PopArt, which had a couple of good singles and the missed hit opportunity of standout track Gypsy. Joanne is just a consistently good pop album. It’s not *that* country either; yeah, Just Another Day is a bit Shania Twain, but only as much as You and I was. The album really isn’t that much of departure as reviews have made out - A-YO is single material that could have been on the Fame Monster and the title track, Joanne, and Angel Down are strong ballads compete in quality with earlier ballads like Speechless and Brown Eyes. PopArt took itself so seriously that I couldn’t listen to it much. This is so much more fun.
Swan Song Series - Tanya Donelly
I’d missed Tanya Donelly, having loved the Throwing Muses, The Breeders and most of all, Belly, in my teen years. Her solo output has been strong but too intermittent which is perhaps why she started releasing a series EPs on and off from 2013 onwards, which this album really just collects together. It does feel like a collection of songs rather than one album recorded at the same time, using a variety of collaborators and styles. Tu y Yo almost sounds like it’s reaching back to her time with the Breeders, although my favourite are the songs that sound most like was she was producing on her more recently solo albums; Mass Ave, Blame the Muse and Meteor Shower.
Chaleur Humaine - Christine and the Queens
I think everything that could be said about this album has already been said, although contrary to what most reviewers have said, I don’t love every track. However, its full of well crafted pop and electronica. Just about everybody loves Tilted and rightfully so, but I also think Saint Claude and Paradis Perdus stand out.
There are plenty of albums that just missed the list for 2016 including On Dead Waves which is great, albeit possibly too melancholy for lots of repeat listening! M83’s Junk  and Wendy James’s is The Price of the Ticket were also just outside the list. If I’d had Woman by Justice or the recent Nouvelle Vague album for longer, they might have been pushing in, but it’s early days of both so I haven’t had time to listen to either much yet.
I should also say that I tend to skip live albums in these lists although whilst Kate Bush’s Before the Dawn is a fantastic album and recording of the concerts, I actually haven’t listened to it that much. The first CD has been played plenty but the two set pieces of The Ninth Wave and A Sky of Honey just end up making me ache to see the visuals from the concert again. Bizarrely it’s made me miss not having a DVD of the show more rather than less.
Anyway, looking forward to plenty of new music in 2017, spurred on by hearing Goldfrapp are releasing a new album. Cannot wait.

Three records you should check Part II
So how I said in my first post im going to recomen three albums that i found in youtube, in this post i will recommend from vaporwave to folk.
1982-  Haircuts for men (2018)
One of my favorite genres of all time is vaporwave, everyday I listen to it, and i have been listenin vaporwave since 2016, so i know how is evolving vaporwave, and the rise of new artists, like George clanton, Gemini, Windows 96 and many more, but one artists thats is totally underated is haircute for men, they actually play the instruments but the music production is closer to vaporwave, for example the drums got a lo of reverb, the synth pads are everywhere and its very nostalgic.
In this album is like watching a old vhs cover, its feel Ethereum and nostalgic at the same time, its got a really analog sound. The drums are close to funk grooves, but its interesting how the ambient sounds of the strings and synth get mixed with the drums, this creates a new vibe, like a funk ambient vaporwave kinda album.
This is recommended to all the peoples that like goods haircuts and want to get into vaporwave or just want to hear  something different.
 Cykada- Cykada (2020)
This is  album is a GROOVE.
Cykada is a rock fusion band, and this album got all the things that would make you dance. The first time i was really into the Groove, the drums are from another worlds and the horns too, its an instrumental album so you will hear a lot of solos, and really creazy solos, its really impressive the sound that they got from a basic rock fusion ensamble, sometimes its get experimental and goes in other genres like prog, or free jazz, but not for too long.  Even sometimes it gets really crazy because they use some weird synths pads to put in the backgrounds, but the best of all is that is really easy to listen.
This is album to get into the new rock fusion wave, its really Good, got a lot of solos and creativity, its not difficult to follow the music, and you really need to check it.
Vashti  Bunyan – Just another diamond day (1970)
Sometime you need to stop what your doing and just breathe, to stop the bad thougths, the anxiousness, or simply to admire what surrounds you, this is the album to chill and stop everything and just be alive.
Vashti is a folk Singer, so you know what to expect, some really beatifull melodys, relaxing flutes and more acoustics sounds, but the best thing of all its how Vashti sings, its really delicated, and you can feel the sounds of the lips, its feel warm. You can imagine the country side and the lyrics ares filled with kidness, hopes and dreams. Most of the times things get really bad and its imposible to not feel sad or be blue, but this album reminds you that life sometimes can be very Good, its not to feel happy, i think is to feel alive.
So if you want to feel alive, and want to hear some beatifull songs, and a gentle,  delicate and kind voice this is your album.

Dear Equinox Vidder...
Dear awesome vidder...
I love all the fandoms I’ve requested, so I’m sure I’ll be thrilled with whatever you come up with, but here’s some stuff to go on!
Music:
Really, the most important thing is that the song is the right one for the vid - I have pretty broad musical tastes and there’s not a lot I don’t like, although I’m less keen on the more electronic/dubstep-y side of dance music. I really like folk music, rock, pop, 80s power ballads, female singer-songwriters with their own instruments, some country, musical theatre soundtracks… artists I like include Dar Williams, Vienna Teng, Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, Janelle Monae, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Bonnie Langford, Foxes, CHVRCHES, Dami Im, The Burns Unit, Clannad, Cyndi Lauper, Dolly Parton, Florence + the Machine, Lorde, Karine Polwart, Jim Moray, Toyah, Kate Rusby, Nancy Kerr, The Decemberists, Fleetwood Mac, Patrick Wolf, Tracy Chapman, Brandi Carlile,  Missy Higgins, Ella Fitzgerald - but honestly I’ll listen to almost anything and if it works for the vid that’ll make me love the song anyway!
General:
This’ll probably become rapidly obvious with my individual requests, but I love vids about women! Character studies, friendship vids, vids about communities and teams, cute vids, sad vids, silly vids, dancey vids, people kicking ass vids…
As to the individual fandoms:
Call the Midwife
Sister Julienne, Shelagh Turner, Trixie Franklin, Sister Evangelina, Sister Monica Joan, Phyllis Crane
I love everything about this show and I’d be thrilled with anything, but I’d particularly love to see a character vid for Sister Julienne, Trixie or Phyllis, something about the relationship between Julienne and Bernadette/Shelagh, or something about all the nuns.
Escape to Witch Mountain (1975)
This is one of my top nostalgic movies from my childhood, so I’d really be so happy with just about anything that lets me spend a few minutes reliving it! Tia is my favourite character (I predictably wanted to be her) so it’d be interesting to have something from her POV, but not at all necessary! (Also feel free to work in Return from Witch Mountain if that’s where the muse takes you, but again, no need at all!)
Hidden Figures (2016)
I’d be so psyched for anything for this film, so go for your life if you already have something in mind! That said, I’d love to see something that touches on the wider community of women in this movie (Dorothy’s team, Katherine’s daughters and mother, not so much Mrs Mitchell), or a character study of Katherine, or a friendship vid about the main three women, or something about maths awesomeness.
Pollyanna (2003)
With great predictability, my favourite character in this is Aunt Polly. I’d love to see a vid about her journey overall, or her relationship with Pollyanna in particular. I like her sad beautiful face. She’s SO REPRESSED I LOVE IT. Anywhere you like on the scale from angsty to syrupy, but if you go for angst I’d love if it could at least end on a hopeful note!
The Railway Children (1970)/The Railway Children (2000)
I was so torn about which version of this to request that I requested both! My requests are pretty much identical for either though, and I don’t mind at all which one you go with, although I request that you please don’t combine the two because I think it might break my brain and not in the good way! I’d love something focusing on the kids’ mother, or on Bobbie, or the relationship between the two of them!
Vampire Academy (2014)
I love this batshit movie. I’d love to see any vid that fully leans into the total ridiculousness, either with 100% sincerity or the exact opposite, bonus points for femslash vibes.
