I don't think Alastor is actually very powerful
I don't think Alastor was ever as powerful as anyone thinks.
Who does Alastor own?
1: An Overlord known for making very poor choices while drunkenly gambling.
2: A girl desperate to sell her soul to any man she can imagine being cool.
These aren't very impressive acquisitions, especially if Husker's situation was engineered by an insider.
What is Alastor's theme?
Radio. A medium. Vox also personifies a medium, but a medium is worthless without content, so he is dependent on Valentino and Velvette to get people to actually look at him.
What did Alastor build his reputation on?
The sounds of powerful Overlords being killed. They make a big deal about him broadcasting the sounds of dying Overlords, not about anybody actually seeing Alastor kill them himself.
I think that whoever owns Alastor (Probably Lilith) took him and manufactured his entire image.
Vox envies Alastor and I think he witnessed Alastor's rise and was inspired to try to learn from him about how he did it, and that is why Vox invited him to work with him. Alastor declined because that would require him to reveal that he doesn't actually work alone, but passed it off as simple disdain, which upset Vox and made him his enemy.
In "Stayed Gone" I don't even think that Alastor displayed more power than Vox. The song comes off as Vox projecting his own insecurities onto Alastor about being a coward that nobody values, but secretly, Alastor was doing the same thing, and only won because of the fact that Alastor's support isn't publicly known.
Another thing about Vox is that he is quite cowardly, and I don't see him approaching a well established Overlord for a team up. He would always want to enter with some leverage, which makes me think that Alastor became a significant force in Hell after Vox was pretty well set up, which would be strange for Radio to arrive after Video.
Even if Alastor was big before Vox and I've got that wrong, if Alastor hated Video like he does, there is no way that Vox wouldn't have been stomped out by Alastor long before he was established enough to feel confident initiating a team up with him.
Alastor also has old friends of very low status, and deep ties to Cannibal Town that don't treat him like he is some eldritch powerhouse that appeared and took control. They all treat him like a local who struck out and made it as a celebrity.
Taken together, I think that Alastor had a pretty unimpressive afterlife in Cannibal Town, up until he made a deal with someone much more powerful, and who killed those Overlords for his Radio broadcasts to prop him up so he could be credited for things that that entity didn't want to be connected to.

Lucien, the Mithril Prince
Tumblr media
“White One” © ArtStation user “mucuzi”, accessed at their gallery here
[I had initially hoped that this wave of big bad blocks would have more demigods. But demigods take a long time, and I’m very tired. So I’m going to showcase a few unique NPCs, similar to Kojark or Warduke. This is a character I’ve never used, but have had rattling around in my head for a while. The genesis was “Mithril Prince would be a good title for an eldritch knight”, but I decided to make the actual stat block a magus, because magus is a cool class I haven’t used much.]
Lucien, the Mithril Prince CR 15 CE Monstrous Humanoid This handsome human man has red hair and pale skin. He wears a white tunic and red cloak over his gleaming silvery armor.
A doppelganger named Chut had a propensity for violence, so joined up with an army to indulge it. His ruthlessness got him promoted to the rank of sergeant, but his callous disregard for life got his squad overwhelmed and nearly wiped out. One of the few survivors on the battlefield, he had a vision of a beautiful winged woman with empty, bleeding eyes, exulting over the slaughter. And so Chut saw Szuriel, the Horseman of War, for the first time. And fell in love.
Chut has devoted the rest of his life to waging war. His current alter ego in that capacity is Lucien, the Mithril Prince. The Mithril Prince is the leader of a mercenary army, willing to fight for any country, cause or creed for very reasonable prices. The highest ranking members of his army are just as depraved as he is, but many of the rank and file do not know that their general’s ultimate goal is to kill for the sake of killing. Lucien is skilled in finding and exacerbating tensions between rival powers. If he cannot do so subtly, he does so through false flag operations, committing assassinations and atrocities in one country while disguised as a member of the other’s forces.
Although Lucien is a commander of battalions, he does not hesitate to get his own hands and blade dirty. Continuing the doppelganger tradition of flexibility in tactics, he has trained as a magus, blending sword and spell with deadly efficacy. He usually prefers to open combat with an area of effect spell, like cloudkill, cone of cold or fireball, both as a show of force and to exult in any collateral damage. When fighting as Lucien, he keeps his mithril armor gleaming and pristine, but he can change its appearance and design at will, the better for posing as a terrorist.

Girl with the Dog - "Big bad wolf in the shop" Video Transcript
[Video opens on the back porch of a house framed by high fences. There is a sign on the wall saying "Tessa Simonetti, dog groomer". It's sunny, and on the wooden porch, a gigantic red dog (?) is lying, relaxing in the sun. It has medium-length copper-coloured fur and broad shoulders, the ears are relaxed but turned slightly forward while its eyes are closed]
Voice-over: This massive beast is Milo.
[The scene changes into the hallway leading inside. The door opens to allow the wolf to come inside. The camera angle is at waist height, accentuating how massive the wolf is as he trots inside. He barely fits through the door, sniffing the environment briefly before the scene switches to the inside of the shop.]
Voice-over: A lot of you have been wondering if my tools could be used for lycanthropic fur and the answer is yes! But I'm aware it can be scary to come into a shop unprepared, so today I'll show you how I take care of a werewolf coat. Milo is a friend who has graciously volunteered his presence. Because of course, getting a full body massage is just such a sacrifice.
[They walk across the room towards a smaller enclosed area with walls far taller than the groomer. The wolf looks at it and gives the groomer a skeptical look.]
Groomer: I know, you're a big fluffy beast. [She pauses.] Sorry, I haven't had sapient clients in a while. [She laughs.]
[Milo walks into the shower but it's a tight squeeze. He rises on his hind legs and rests his front paws on the shower wall to make some space.]
Groomer: I guess that works.
[She warms up the water and begins to soak his coat. It turns a dark shade of red, but most of the water slides right off.]
Groomer: Werewolves tend to have very thick fur, and Milo's is unusually long for his species. You can tell it doesn't absorb water at all.
[She puts her entire hand into his coat and pulls out a fistful of cream-colored fur.]
Groomer: You're gonna blow up my shop later on I can tell. I wish I had the nozzle here but someone's too big for the bathtub.
[Milo looks down and makes a vague shrugging motion.]
[The groomer continues to soak his coat and starts rubbing in the shampoo.]
VO: Milo is a European, or more commonly called eldritch-type werewolf. As werewolves, they are in a human form most of the time. Or… mostly human at least. Unlike arcane werewolves, their bodies are actually different on an anatomical level.
[The camera focuses on the hind legs, which seem… odd. The overall anatomy is right but the proportions seem slightly off. The water also makes light strips of skin over his ankles appear.]
VO: During transformations, there is also a two-legged form most of you will be familiar with from books and movies, or as you can see, a fully lupine form.
A lot of you have asked if bathing is absolutely necessary. I usually don't groom dry for several reasons. For one thing, it's more hygienic, because you don't have all that dander flying around, and it's easier to clean. Bathing also gets the undercoat out more thoroughly. I'm bathing him today in Floof This! Deshedding Shampoo, because he's shedding like a beast and it will feel really good to get all of that out.
Groomer: Can you come down from there? I can't reach that far up.
[Milo considers her for a moment before sitting down in the shower. He's still very tall, but low enough for the groomer to reach his face. He flinches when the water goes over his head and bares his teeth for a moment.]
Groomer: I know, I know, it's no fun.
VO: One prerequisite to grooming is of course being in control of your wolf form. Milo is not about to start chewing on me, which is something I always need to take into consideration. While there are restraints that are cleared for this type of force, it's not something I do unless absolutely necessary.
Grooming is not really a requirement for old world werewolves, because there is a strong continuity between the wolf and human form, but it's still something that can be helpful. Physical transformations put a lot of stress on the body and it's common to have lasting soreness and later on develop arthritis and other joint pain.
[She finishes washing his face and cuts to a mountain of towels next to the shower.]
VO: After a thousand days and a thousand nights, the shower is done and Milo has increased my laundry by a factor of ten. The bad news is, he's too big for the table. The good news, I won't have to bend down too much.
[Milo lays down on the floor while she wipes up the massive amount of water on the ground. That done, the groomer begins running her hand through his fur from all angles, which he seems to enjoy. His eyes are closed for most of this.]
Groomer: So I'm checking for mats here. They're not super common, but it can happen if the fur got wet and then was left to air dry. Can you move?
[She tries to roll him over, unsuccessfully.]
Groomer: Please?
[Milo rolls over. When she begins checking his belly, his demeanor changes. He lifts his head and licks his lips, following her movements with his eyes.]
VO: It's very important to talk about boundaries and potential triggers before a groom, especially if you've never worked together before. Many are apprehensive about having their sanitary areas treated by a stranger and you can absolutely discuss your preferences beforehand. Physical and emotional trauma is unfortunately also exceedingly common, and even a completely rational wolf can snap. You can tell Milo is a bit nervous, but I know what to look out for, so I'm not worried about getting my face ripped off. Otherwise I wouldn't be doing this.
[She finishes checking him and shakes wet fur from her hands.]
Groomer: This would be easier if you could talk.
Milo (in a strained, horrifying approximation of speech): You'd think so.
[The groomer freezes. Milo grins and licks his snout, visibly pleased with the reaction.]
Groomer: Oh-kay. Wow.
VO: I considered using a happy hoodie, but there was a bit of a capacity problem, so Milo will have to do without. I put on my beekeeper's hat, and now I'll leave you to enjoy this epic furnado.
[Happy instrumental music. Milo is still alert while she dries his belly but relaxes when she moves on to his back. He doesn't doze exactly but lays his head on his legs and relaxes. There is cream-colored fur flying everywhere, to the point of coating the camera lense. Milo sneezes when fur gets stuck to his nose.]
VO: After another one thousand years, Milo is finally dry. I am using the NyoomGroom today. Wolf fur is fairly rough, especially compared to other canines of a similar coat length, and this is the best tool I've found to remove undercoat without causing unnecessary pulling.
That doesn't mean no pulling though and the king makes sure to voice his displeasure.
[The brush removes even more fur, even though his coat doesn't seem to thin either way. The groomer's hand exposes scarring hidden under the coat. Milo grows quietly when she gets close to his ears. When she ignores him, he growls louder. Ignored again, he finally snaps at her, his teeth closing loudly next to her hand. It's clear he could have gotten her if he wanted to.]
Groomer: Okay, okay, I'm sorry!
VO: That's what happens when you don't listen. I switched to the AquiGroomer for the rest of the brushing, and Milo was much happier.
[More brushing, though she leaves out his ears. Milo observes her carefully either way, also while she brushes the shorter fur on his legs.]
VO: There were no mats today, but it still took me seven years to brush him, and another seven to clean it up. Look at that mountain of fur.
[Shot of a pile of light fur, about the size of a Golden Retriever.]
VO: His Majesty was kind enough to stand so I could complete his paws. He did not want a nail trim today, which was a relief for my hands.
[Change of angle, Milo has sat up, lifting his paw for the groomer to shave out his paw pads. His paw flexes, extending his claws as if she's tickling him. He yawns again, this time a stress yawn.]
Groomer: We're nearly done.
VO: I am spraying him down in Spring Forest cologne, and after a staggering six and a half hours, Milo is finished and looking fantastic.
[Shot of Milo trotting out into the garden, clearly making sure to look as impressive as possible.]
VO: Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoyed the marvelous Milo.

Yes, I'm here with a late night post!
I have PO OC's, not ones relevant to lore I have or anything but ones that exist just to fill roles or for pure fun and whimsy. I thought I may as well make an extended post about them so the world knows they exist!
Ave Mirage
[AKA Edvard Lund]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Age: 21
Height: 5'8
From: Oslo, Norway
From top to bottom, Ave can be described as a totally average guy. He doesn't offer any cool tricks or unseen feats in the ring, and he certainly isn't an unexpected champion waiting for his big break, but that doesn't mean he's a lost cause! Coming from Norway, Ave Mirage is a Minor Circuit boxer who gets along with pretty much everybody he meets, and always remembers his place. The day this guy steps out of line is the day pigs fly.
He's a good friend and a reliable aid to other Minor Circuit members, and despite his balanced 12:12 record (with 6 wins by KO) is a quick thinker and incredibly adaptable in the ring. But with a position in his circuit between Von Kaiser and Disco Kid, and quite the underwhelming height, his contingency plans don't always go his way.
Plus, with glasses like his, he and his optician have frequent encounters.
Sobek Nile
[AKA Ramses Hamed]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Age: 24
Height: 6'2
From: Cairo, Egypt
Sobek is the pinnacle of approachable He's quiet, relaxed and always has something to talk about.. but he's also not the best listener and tends to ramble on about himself more so than anybody else. Taking a lot of pride in his career and the history of his culture, Sobek can often be perceived as egotistical, but in reality simply wants to uphold a persona people can enjoy. In reality he is a more genuine person and even a huge fan of holidays like Halloween. There's a lot more to Sobek as a person than what people see in the ring or on the news, but a harsh fact is that there isn't many people around to see. Not that he cares though, there's not a person in the world that's ever seen him mad or upset before.
Nile is a strong and worthy member of the Major Circuit, not too fussed about making his way up the ranks but dedicated to improving his skills and keeping his fans supportive. With a record of 20:7 (with 9 by KO) he has potential for the future, though right now the only thing standing in his way is beating Great Tiger..
Jingle Jangle
[AKA Jace Miser]
Tumblr media
Age: 22
Height: 6'5
From: Prague, Czech Republic
From appearance alone its easy to tell that Jingle is a fun, loveable, and eccentric personality. Growing up a theatre kid he has more energy and optimism than literally anybody should have, and although it sometimes makes him come off as annoying he really means well and just likes to make people laugh.
He considers boxing to be the pinnacle of entertainment, making his goal as a boxer to bring joy to the people through multiple mediums.. mime, comedy.. and of course boxing itself. He holds a confident position in the B-Band Major Circuit with a record of 18:4 (7 by KO).
Ramirez Parks
[AKA That Announcer Guy That Makes Everyone Bored]
Tumblr media
Age: 32
Height: 6'0
From: Chicago, Illinois, USA
Ramirez is a result of one of the WVBA's less intelligent employment plans. Seeing that Ramirez was willing to accept stupidly low pay (or it just seemed that way), they immediately hired him as a match commentator without taking one thing into account.. his incredibly monotone voice. Its said that at some matches commentate by Ramirez, people have literally fallen asleep from the sound of his dry ass voice.
He hauls himself around like he's on 2 hours of sleep, speaks like he hasn't slept at all, and frankly you can do just about anything around him and get no reaction. He's skilled in the art of not giving a shit.
And now for the joke ones..
Nuxh'ri C'thuiklan
[AKA Nux Cathulan]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Age: Infinite (Let's say 38)
Height: 7'5
From: Ph'Nglui, The Pacific Ocean
Nux is an honorary member of the Monster Bracket! He's.. also an Eldritch God, but there's not many people who like to comment on that. The day this guy showed up, the WVBA practically flipped. Nobody could explain why something so... interesting.. would possibly want to go into boxing, but nobody wanted to question it. Now he fights just like anybody else would, since he at least has the dignity to not do anything reality-bending at work, though albeit he still packs a hard punch.
Simply put, he's just another WVBA boxer.. nothing else. Just don't watch him whilst he eats, it's bonkers.
Billy Gruff
[AKA Is That A Furry?]
Tumblr media
Age: 15 (About 50 in human years)
Height: 3'2
From: Picket Farm, Texas, USA
Gruff was encouraged by his farm friends to get his ass out into the world because he was 'capable of great things' in their words. now he gets his ass handed to him by alligators and bears so he's doing great.
Gruff, despite being a member of the Beast Bracket is ironically a scaredy cat! He gets scared of the bell ringing in matches, gets scared by loud noises, and sometimes gets scared by his own shadow but he's working on that.. His favourite boxers are Joe, Disco and Hugger since they're very kind to him and also quiet for him as well.
And that's all of them! They're all my babies and I'd.. crime for them. :]

all those bands you listed for gerry are my faves (especially type o negative you have TASTE) and if i didn't love him already i love him more now
i saw that you hate arcade carpet michael (i'm assuming just him dressing in funky colors, which i personally think is fun aesthetic wise and also idk what else it would mean) so i was wondering what your interpretation of him is??
he is my perfect darling and he can be YOURS TOO for the low low price of recognizing that he is a 30-something y2k goth who was forced to hellraiser peel his own mother and then travel the world as her ex-girlfriend's lackey
and ty for your interest!
honestly it's not the bright patterns specifically, the bright patterns are a symptom of something larger
so i can't speak for anon ofc but to me "arcade carpet michael" is using the aesthetic fanon representation of michael to talk about something broader
i know in s5 it was confirmed that the distortion's hallways are a dull beige and not a technicolor explosion, so more like the backrooms than the stranger things video game levels many people were picturing (i, personally, have always pictured the hallways as being warm fleshy tones, with thick humid air and orange/brown/red lighting. i think this comes from michael asking jon if his hand in any way owns his stomach. since i heard it say that i've always pictured it trapping its victims in an eternal hell maze as a prolonged digestive process, so the visual has always been very organic and meaty for me, like a digestive tract filtered through mc escher architecture, something that was never supposed to have human characteristics but does, now)
but for me my complaint isn't the color schemes or the clashing patterns, even though i do think that making a character wear checkerboard print and stripes is a lazy shorthand for saying they're "zany"
my complaint is that michael is described, specifically and often, as being difficult to look at. it is, after all, a distortion. trying to see it hurts your brain. it's supposed to hurt your brain! it probably hurts your brain less than half as much as it hurts michael to be seen at all, because it isn't even supposed to have a michael shape. it is meant to be an impossible door, and here it is with this new appendage, living inside and beside and adjacent to it
sasha describes its terrifying, ungainly, spindly, meaty, enormous, boney hands, and this has somehow been fanon-ized into sexy salad fingers (i'll be honest if people's fanon depictions of michael were MORE like salad fingers i would be much happier about it)
the vast majority of michael art i encounter is just a very attractive, thin, tall, blonde, white man with very long hair. the indication that he has been consumed by an eldritch entity of lovecraftian delusion is that this thin, tall, blonde, white man with very long hair is wearing a loud shirt
that's disappointing.
and i personally cannot draw at all, so that is the grain of salt with which i would ask you to take my fan art complaints. i am just a guy looking at fanart who is incapable of producing any himself. but i have written about michael a lot, so i am personally committed to representing it as the throat of delusion incarante using my own preferred medium.
tdlr; michael is a character meant to be a perverse approximation of a person whose very presence in your field of vision gives you migraines and people instead draw him as a pretty, willowy man wearing clashing patterns

The Äylcephomus
WARNING: There is a brief description about androgynous genitalia.
Äylcephomus (name meaning: burning messenger or they who announce our blessedness):
This particular Æylphitus breed is considered to be the first and most precious creation amongst the Hirczalotepus Tejasozuri. This majestic breed is commonly referred to as angels or heavenly beings amongst other species. However, they prefer to call themselves the Äylcephomus because this sacred name derives from their creator goddess, Äylcephinozur. They are viewed as sanctified guardians and shepherds who strictly follow a life of untainted righteousness. They have their own celestial hierarchy that ranks each angelic breed from those close to the incorporeal universe down to the material universe. Within their superlunary abode, heaven is separated by 10 concentric spheres. They even have control over the 7 terraces of purgatory, the leaders who were once angels, and their respective trials for the limbo-goers. Similar to the Tejasozuri, most Äylcephomus are given titles that associate them with a specific concept and/or living creature. Due to this customary tradition, Äylcephomus are the most common avatars of the Hirczalotepus Tejasozuri. Unlike the titans, they do have true forms and are all physically androgynous. These true forms usually reflect the personality, strength, celestial title and hierarchical breed of an angel. It’s extremely rare for an Äylcephomus to have no true form. They have snow-white or ashy skin with greyish freckles, massive wings, and somewhat porous bones to allow flight to be easier. As mentioned before, all angels are physically androgynous, but that’s in reference to their genitalia. All angels reside in male-shaped or female-shaped bodies and they have a main genitalia corresponding to their appearance. However, there are a few that do possess both male and female characteristics, but that’s more common amongst the older generation. Females possess a medium-length translucent, extremely flexible penis with spiked external glands and faint blue, purple, and orange veins. It’s hidden in a duct with two bulbous testes that can be located in front of the womb. In order to properly use it, the penis comes out of their pseudo-clitoris. Their saliva can burn through things that are naturally sinful and metamorphose their golden ichor into certain weaponry such as blades. They can also use their organic mass to retract their wings, heal themselves, and create barriers and certain eldritch weapons such as tendrils. They're immune to all divine-based and low level infernal abilities.

Ettercap Vizier - CR8 Aberration
Come into my temple's vestibule, said the spider to the fly.
Tumblr media
Artwork is official concept art from World of Warcraft, copyright Blizzard Entertainment.
Ettercaps are generally solitary creatures, but that doesn't mean there aren't leaders among them. Secret underground temples and other places of religious significance are sometimes the domain of ettercap adherents, who follow many of the same demonic gods as the drow. Ettercap viziers serve as advisors, oracles and overseers in these places of power. They may ally with other arachnid creatures more often than with their own kind.
Ettercap viziers summon swarms of spiders, which have more hit points than normal due to their Augment Summoning feat, and then buff the swarms with infectious swarm while keeping their distance from opponents. If an enemy becomes fatigued by an ettercap vizier's aura, it casts slowing decay.
Ettercap Vizier - CR 8
The gangly arachnid creature stands on its hind legs in an upright stance, wearing robes that look like official vestments of some type. Its face is that of a spider, and its hands are long claws.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Aura of Fatigue (Su) Non-arachnid creatures that move within 30 ft. of an ettercap vizier must succeed on a DC 18 Fortitude save or be fatigued. A creature that is already fatigued becomes exhausted instead. Once a creature has been subjected to an ettercap vizier's aura of fatigue (whether it saves or not), it cannot be subjected to that same ettercap vizier's aura of fatigue again until 24 hours have passed.
Cunning Initiative (Ex) An ettercap vizier adds its Wisdom modifier on initiative checks, in addition to its Dexterity modifier. This is already included in its statistics above.
Detect Alignment (Su) At will, an ettercap vizier can use detect chaos, detect evil, detect good, or detect law as spell-like abilities. She can only use one of these at any given time.
Infectious Swarm As a standard action, as a 2nd-level transmutation spell, an ettercap vizier can grant a swarm within close range an infectious disease. For a number of rounds equal to the ettercap vizier's caster level (usually 8 rounds), whenever the swarm deals damage with its swarm attack, the target is subjected to the following disease:
Swarmtouch Disease (Su) Swarm Attack—injury; save Fort DC 16; onset immediate; frequency 1/day; initial effect target takes -4 penalty on Fort saves and vulnerability to negative energy damage for duration of disease; secondary effect 1d2 Con damage; cure 2 consecutive saves. The save DC is equal to the spell DC.
This spell has verbal and somatic components. Spell resistance applies to the initial casting of the spell, but not to the disease.
Poison (Ex) Bite—injury; save Fort DC 19; frequency 1/round for 10 rounds; effect 1d2 Dex; cure 2 consecutive saves. The save DC is Constitution based.
Slowing Decay As a standard action, as a 2nd-level necromancy spell, an ettercap vizier can release a wave of slowing decay in a 40-ft. burst. All living enemies within the burst take 1d8 points of negative energy damage. Living enemies that are fatigued or exhausted instead take 2d8 points of negative energy damage and are slowed for one round, as the slow spell. A Fortitude save (typically DC 17) halves the damage.
Undead creatures within the burst instead gain a +1 resistance bonus on saving throws for 1 round. Living allies are unaffected by this spell.
This spell has verbal and somatic components. Spell resistance applies.
Spells An ettercap vizier is a divine spellcaster which casts spells spontaneously, as an inquisitor, using Wisdom as its spellcasting ability score, except that it has no orisons, has one less spell known than an inquisitor at each spell level, and has a unique set of spells known instead of using the inquisitor spell list. It does not gain domains or any other class abilities of an inquisitor.
Spider Empathy (Ex) This ability functions as the druid’s wild empathy, save that an ettercap vizier can only use this ability on spiders. An ettercap vizier gains a +4 racial bonus on this check. Spiders are mindless, but this empathic communication imparts on them a modicum of implanted intelligence, allowing ettercap viziers to train giant spiders and use them as guardians.

Sew Long, Fair Well - 01 SANSA (pages 01)
Sansa makes a final sacrifice for her people, and wakes to discover she's made a deal with a god.
-
The years of war, and the sheer number of their combined forces, the sheer appetite of the dragons, everything had put too large an impact in their reserves. Her people were going to starve before the new crops could be grown to harvest, before the animals could breed and mature enough for culling, the glass gardens were still in ruins, and winter still upon them. Spring hadn't magically come sweeping in when Arya had slain the Night King, the Long Night hadn't mystically given way to the spring dawn.
That's actually something I'll be interested to see when we reach it in the books, how the resource situation is, because with the wars, and The War, resources are going to be so low, I have concerns about the post Long Night survival rates.
“Please,” she asked, “if you know of any way to save my people, please tell me how, please help me save my people.” “What are you willing to give up for them?” It was a test, Sansa knew, and thought of rough hands on her skin, thought of all she has lost, and all she had fought for with whatever she could. With words and looks, and favours and lies, with the blood of others and with her own. “The last thing I have left to barter with,” Sansa told him, hoping it was enough, “the last thing I have which is rightly mine to give away.”
“That's-Not-Bran” Theory at play here. I do kinda like that one, just for the fridge horror aspect of it. I also like the “rightly mine to give” mentality when characters deal with eldritch/ancient beings, cause you could give them anything, including the life of another, a thousand other lives, but where's the personal sacrifice in that. (Also it makes you look like an asshole.) This one showing us just where Sansa's priorities lie, it's not just about the building, it's about the people in it
“Down through the crypts, until the tunnel turns into a cave. Down through the cave to the heart of the hot springs, where the waters of Winterfell are born. Until there's nothing left to give.”
You know, I have now read two fics with Sansa Time Travel that feature the hot springs in the tunnels under Winterfell as the medium for said time travel. Two different types of time travel, mind you, but I see any more and it will officially be a pattern.
In her mind, she could see a golden light flowing through Winterfell, spilling out into the surrounding lands. It was like watching a flower slowly blooming. Sansa vaguely felt herself slip completely below the surface of the hot spring, but she didn't care, didn't fight it. She wasn't sure if she was dreaming, or if she was truly witnessing a miracle, but these were her last moments, and Sansa chose hope.
This would have been such a tough ask though, after everything Sansa survived, after everything that didn't kill her, after everything lost and regained, for her to have this presented as the saving move, when she can't even trust the source it came from, like, not really. For all she knows, That's-not-Bran just wants her out of the way so he can take over.
Anyway, the world is much nicer when people choose hope. (Nicer still when hope pays off.)
Sansa?
Yes, that was right, she was Sansa Stark of Winterfell And she was dead. Were the dead allowed to play games?
“I won't tell if you don't.”
ngl, that made me laugh.
Fun? That sounded nice. Sansa missed nice things, like lemon cakes, and her family, and practising her sewing. It had been so long since she'd last embroidered anything... No, that wasn't right, there had been a wolf... for Jon .
🍋=🥛
She was a child. She was a woman grown. She'd never left Winterfell. She'd been to King's Landing and the Eyrie, she'd even visited The Wall. She was in love with the idea of love, and couldn't wait to be a wife and mother. She was jaded, married twice, and revolted by the idea of sharing any man's bed. She was Sansa Stark of Winterfell. She was Sansa Stark of Winterfell. A summer child. She'd seen the Long Night. She'd died for her people and now she was either in heaven, or she'd had a second wish granted. She was home, and safe, and she had a chance to fix everything.
I feel like I don't see it enough in fanfics, but I do enjoy the use of formatting as a storytelling aid. Like this section, how the two versions of Sansa are put on opposite sides, and then the center alignment to show that the two versions were separate have melded into one being. (tumblr doesn't like left center right alignments, so I've indented the right aligns.)
People format their fics in different ways and some of them are good, and some of them are one paragraph of 8,000 words. This fic has a lot of 1-2 sentence paragraphs. I know one author, different fandom, and I love their premises, but my gosh, there's an epidemic of people who have never heard of “new speaker, new line,” and they are one of them.
GRRM doesn't always start a new paragraph whenever someone new starts talking, and sometimes he'll let someone start talking at the end of a paragraph, but he never really has two or more people speaking in the same paragraph, where readers get confused because you start reading the second voice assuming it's the first. Sometimes he has the speech tag before the spoken line, instead of after, he actually does a really good job of keeping an easy to read flow with conversations and he has a good balance with the speech tags themselves.
...Sansa just accidentally Blood Magicked the mystery Embroidery Hoop. In her defense, as someone who has dabbled with embroidery, can confirm: those needles are freaking sharp. Fiber arts are hardcore, I have such mad respect for anyone who can do them.
The Hoop was on the ground before her. Sansa looked back at her table, where the hoop was not. She picked it up again, and put it back on the table. She turned to dress, and the hoop was back on the ground before her. Huffing, Sansa picked it up again. This time when she put it on her table she said, partly pleading, “at least let me get dressed before I deal with you.” She stepped back, eyes on the hoop. It stayed where it was. … In all honesty, if Sansa hadn't been through what she'd just been through, she would have been freaking out over the hoop far more.
Good of her to acknowledge that she's either having a mild disassociation, or has been struck by the blasé attitude stick a few too many times. Look, don't get me wrong, “nothing can phase me” is a fine personality type for a girl to have, but when all the only -female-characters have it, it starts to grate. Like how “snarky, sarcastic, he'd be an asshole if he weren't so cute, clever, and charismatic” became default male protagonist personality for a while th- … actually I think they're still doing that one.
...../              HELP               \ .../   I've made a deal with   \ /an Ancient God, and now I \ |     don't know what to do!     | .\  (Slide finger from right to / ...\       left to turn to next    / .....\              page)              /
'Oh,' Sansa thought, feeling a little faint, 'so that was real.'
Apparently. Don't worry, I hate when that happens to me too. (Also I shudder to think how long it took to do the console format every time.)
-
So I actually had the message box open and was going to fire off a message to see if @redwolf17 would be cool if I did The Weirwood Queen for this, but then I thought “if my review curse* triggers, I will be devastated, everyone will be devastated!” So I picked one that's been on permanent hiatus for... three and half years? Oh wow, I didn't think it had been that long. Time is an illusion.
Anyway, I have author permission, and I'm even allowed to be as mean as I want. Oh, the evil that could unleash >:3c (I've fiddled with the formatting slightly, just because the layout in the og is very... laid out.) This fic is also more GoT than ASoIaF, sorry, but I poorly worded the fic option in the poll and no one gave me recs.
*I have this unfortunate curse where if I review a fic that's still in progress, something happens and the author drops the fic like 86% of the time. It's not because I'm mean or anything, I don't go for the writing jugular, it just. happens.
Happy April Everyone!!!

Gumiho
Tumblr media
Art © Paizo Publishing, accessed at Archives of Nethys here
[Commissioned by @razzelmire. I assume the gumiho is so high level in order to fit the needs of an adventure, as this monster first appears in a PF2e Adventure Path issue. I found it strange that, despite being a different interpretation of the nine-tailed fox myth as the kitsune, which are humanoid and playable in Pathfinder, that the original flavor text didn’t even mention them. So I took some liberties.]
Gumiho CR 17 CE Fey This fox is the size of a wolf, with nine long tails. Its eyes glow a beguiling green, and it wears a gem on a pendant around its neck.
A gumiho is a legendary nine-tailed fox creature. They are often confused for kitsune, as they are also shapechangers and tricksters. Whereas a kitsune may be of any alignment, gumiho are almost universally evil, as they have an insatiable hunger for the livers of humanoids, and will stop at nothing to get them. A gumiho is supernaturally charming, and uses its abilities to lure travelers to an out of the way place where it can slaughter them. Legend states that if a gumiho resists this temptation and refrains from eating liver for a thousand years, it can assume its humanoid form permanently and becomes enlightened and goodly in nature. Perhaps kitsune are the descendents of such a progenitor gumiho.
Gumiho combine their magic and physical might in combat. Their claws and teeth do remarkable damage for their small size, but its precise strikes are even more deadly. A gumiho will often use repulsion to keep allies from reaching a befuddled victim, and then kill them and tear out their liver in a gory display before fleeing with their prize. Gumiho value their long lives, and never fight extended battles if they can help it.
Although gumiho do keep treasure, often beautiful clothing or jewels to add to their humanoid form’s allure, their most prized possession is the fox marble. A gumiho keeps a backup of all of their memories in the fox marble, allowing them to recall events from hundreds of years ago. A creature that steals a fox marble, or takes it once the gumiho is slain, can likewise sift through all of the gumiho’s memories, and gains the ability to make all Knowledge checks untrained and gains a competence bonus to Knowledge checks equal to ½ its Hit Dice. A gumiho will stop at nothing to get its fox marble back if it is somehow lost or stolen.

Fox Marble (Su) A gumiho’s fox marble allows the creature to make all Knowledge checks untrained, and gives it a competence bonus on Knowledge checks equal to ½ its Hit Dice. A gumiho cannot use its sapping critical ability if it is not wearing its fox marble. Guileful Charm (Su) Any creature conversing with a gumiho must succeed a DC 29 Will save or be charmed by the gumiho for one hour. A creature that succeeds this save is immune to this effect for the next 24 hours, but does not realize that the gumiho tried to charm them. The save DC is Charisma based with a -4 racial penalty. Sapping Critical (Su) Whenever a gumiho confirms a critical hit against a living creature, it heals damage equal to the damage dealt.
