sort of a happy vent appreciation ramble related to rcp? uhh not sure what to exactly call this but here goes.

wow. i've been liking robocar poli since, what, since i was a kid? yeah, i loved this show to death and i still do. i remember watching it on this local indonesian tv channel (rtv) and i'd always be eager to watch it whenever it came on. since i watched it on local television it was always in indonesian, and being more fluent in english, it wasn't the most ideal but i took what i could get, and once i got ahold of a dvd that was in english i was ecstatic.

i had toys of all 4 of the main cast, unfortunately most of them were given away, but i kept amber (since she was my favorite ofc). she's actually in my room rn as i write this lol. i would go search on google or youtube to find robocar poli fan media and that's when i found out about the fan community. i found fanart and fanfiction (which was probably my first exposure to fanfiction entirely??) and i loved it. but as a kid i didn't really interact that much with them aside from some comments here and there

i had seen some of the rcp content on tumblr before i got tumblr, except i didn't actually see it on tumblr it was on some sketchy site called tumbik where you could see tumblr posts without logging in, but there were pop up ads and weird accounts displayed on the side(s?) lmaooo. but when i actually got tumblr i was excited to interact with more rcp fans and see all the content for it! and boy, have i met some really wonderful people

our fandom may not be the biggest one but its fanbase has so much love and dedication to it, i can confirm. all the aus, writings, art, roleplays, etc have so much passion behind them and i admire it. i don't think roi visual even knows how much this fandom loves this childrens' cartoon they made.

i've grown along with this cartoon and its fandom and it puts a smile on my face to know that we all share the same passion, and how the fandom cares for each other

How are you?

Busy, unfortunately!! Started college not too long ago, and all that - won't bore anyone with the details, though!! Sorry if I worried anyone with all the silence - I didn't even realize how long it's been! Wow!

1. HOLY HELL WE'RE AT 3K FOLLOWERS???? ALREADY???

I'VE BEEN TRYING TO CATCH UP AND COME UP WITH SPECIALS BUT OH MY GOD... There are so many of you!! And you all come in so fast!! It actually breaks my heart a little only because I haven't shown my best yet (or definitely feel like I haven't), which will definitely change! You guys deserve so much better! Though I'm still unsure what to do for specials... so ideas would be nice! I'd like to also do some late ones- since you guys 100% deserve it, and they're still milestones!! Though for 3k, I'll do something in the spirit of Halloween!... or fall if I'm late again- 😅

Regardless! I'm so happy for all the support!! It really is something that so many people see my posts, no matter how old, and interact with them! It's overwhelming, honestly, but I deeply appreciate it! Even more so when I have a habit of going to get the milk for a while, before coming back with a few cookies - LOL!

2. I've been seeing that my work has inspired a lot of people to make their own stuff, and it's super endearing and heartwarming!!! Really, even if I don't really comment and only interact with the posts on my main account, I still see them! And I love them!!! I'm honestly really surprised how much the Not [ ] Series has inspired others or served as inspiration for their work. It baffles me but I'm also really glad I was able to do that for someone! It's still insane, especially since I really don't see the series as my best work by a long shot, but I do still really admire and appreciate how people still took inspiration from it :]

To which, yes! I do read all of the works people tag me in LOL! I may not say much! But I do see it!! You're all amazing writers and I can't wait to see what you all make in the future!!

3. I will definitely try to catch up on asks! There have been a lot of them - which I'm very happy to see! So now that I have some time, I'll start to tackle them! I have a break coming up, so if not now, then definitely then! So, soon!

4. YES. CHAPTER 4 IS IN THE WORKS!! I doubt it'll be longer than 3 - I learned a lot during that, and I plan to not repeat my mistakes and take what I've learned. Though we'll see how it goes in actual execution!! I already forget what I've said on that end, and thanks to time I have made a few adjustments to the original plan, though the ending remains the same! Very... eventful!!

5. I AM TRYING TO GET A NEW SERIES OUT!! Because damn it do you guys deserve some quality on this blog!!! I'm not the best writer, obviously, but again, the Not [ ] is a farcry from what I can really produce, and even if I view it as a taste of what's to come - still!! Been also thinking of making it one of the romantic stories I had planned (seeing as a lot of platonic stuff has come out, which is cute!), but we'll see! 'Waiting' Reader has been on my mind... I'll say that much! Though maybe don't hold your breath...?

Overall, a little tired as usual, but glad to be back, and really kick start writing again! 💛... I say, at 5:30 am, like every great author!

do i respond to comments?: I try to. I don't have the time or energy to respond to them on a day-by-day basis, so usually I'll wait a few months and then reply to all of the comments that have built up in that time at once. I definitely read them all as they show up, though.

what has the most angst ridden ending?: Definitely Haunted. It's an angst-ridden mess written while I was off my meds and going through a depressive episode. I don't recommend it.

what has the happiest ending?: Most of my fics have happy, or relatively happy, endings. I tend to write angst with a happy/hopeful ending a lot. I'd say the happiest is probably Second Chances, which was a time travel fix-it of Infinity War. They successfully fixed it with minimal angst, from what I remember.

have i received hate?: No, or at least, not that I can remember. I received unwanted constructive criticism once, which was annoying, but it wasn't mean.

do i write smut? if so, what kind?: I have, but not often. I've only ever posted one smut fic and it was on anonymous, so good luck finding it lol

do i write crossovers?: Yes. They're not all of what I write, but I've certainly been known to write a crossover.

have i ever had a fic stolen?: Not that I'm aware of.

have i ever had a fic translated?: No, but I have had fics made into podfics, and one turned into blackout poetry by a friend.

have i ever co-written a fic?: Yes! There was one I was co-writing with a friend a few years ago that never got finished or posted (and we aren't friends anymore, so it never will be) but I was also a part of a Hannibal discord server for a while that did a round robin writing thing, and we posted a couple of those.

a WIP i’ll never finish?: to strike a match, definitely. That whole au was really badly written (and plotted, for that matter) and I never want to touch it again. I've dabbled with a rewrite, although I doubt that'll ever get very far, but at this point a rewrite would be so far away from the original that it couldn't reasonably be considered the same thing. More like a new fic spawned from the same base idea, with little-to-no similarity to the original fic.

writing strengths: Character studies or "character coping with their trauma" type fics, very focused on internal thoughts and feelings.

writing weaknesses: Action scenes of any kind.

do i like foreign language dialogue?: I don't really have an opinion on it, I guess?

first fandom i wrote for: Warriors, back before I even knew fanfiction was a thing. That was the first fandom I posted for, too, back in my ffn.net days.

favorite fic i’ve written: My 1978 au of Fear Street, especially it would eat you like poison (if you knew what i knew). Absolutely incredible fic, I'm very proud of it. The post-horror-movie angst is such a good playground for me to work in.

I am such a rambler in the tags! Sometimes I can keep 'em short and sweet, but then sometimes I say WAY too much and I have to delete stuff. And in this case, I was like, I can't with this lol. If you all only knew the realities of what I keep to myself... but after my ramblings, I'm pretty consistent with my tags. I tried to keep them as simple as possible so I wouldn't forget them.

Also you would be surprised at how quickly words can rack up if you aren't paying attention. This happens to me A LOT. Like all the time.

The thing about this, in my opinion, is that sometimes you need more words than you realize because you need the space to tell the story. Usually if I'm just writing something short and sweet, it's a single scene, plucked out of time, depicting a very simple idea. But the second a story gets a little more complex is the second you start finding you need more and more words for it to make sense! I say just go with it, let yourself write as much as the story needs!!

I can't resist an ask game 😂 I actually dropped by though to say that I've been listening to Tea, Milk, and Honey a lot over the past couple months, and every time I hear it it makes me feel weepy for that little platypus learning to trust his own sense of right and wrong. god. let's talk about that for a sec hey. recently it came to my attn that one of my Hilson fics has achieved some margin of popularity on Spanish-speaking fandom TikTok, which is hilarious and weird and amazing. i scroll thru the comments. lo and behold there is some mention of the fact that i also wrote platypus fanfic. would you believe me when i say i forget about it until someone (or some song) brings it to my attn?

im totally one of those bitches who will be like "haha...wow i was going thru something...twas forever ago,, i was a different person back then..." bruh this was within the last year. lol. more on religious trauma that nobody asked for + why i went full platypus mode for a second down below.

picture this: you're at the stage of development where you're becoming aware of sexual feelings. the same stage of development, funnily enough, where we're said to develop self-concept, enhance our critical thinking skills, and begin to get into drama because we're starting to understand our own place in the world, for better or for worse: puberty.

so you're in this place. you're having these thoughts and feelings. you're an undiagnosed autist whose special interests are a bit too childish (and too intense) for your peers to understand, and all the while your sexual development is underway, and then BAM: you are slapped in the face with abstinence-only education that not only demonizes sex but frames it as a form of reverence that one sex is supposed to offer the other as a form of submission (after signing paperwork that was originally conceived as a form of ownership).

HAHA. my psychosexual development was doomed from the start, whether by nature or nurture, and i've made peace + pride with that. HOWEVER. last summer i entered one of several recurring periods of really grappling with religious trauma, trying to find my place in a world where i still can't imagine a godless reality but am shedding the one(s) i used to believe in, + just generally having a Bad Time. who got me through that period of my life when i really started to understand that innate things about me were seen as perversions of nature by my supposed church family? Perry the goddamn platypus. silent, deadly, misunderstood, gentle unless faced with the Horrors. he lives a double life and he lives it well. he's at peace with it as much as he can be: he is docile and dumb and huggable at home, and he's vicious and cunning and suave at work, and neither of these things are lies, they're just two sides of who he is.

funnily enough my other longtime fandom, TMNT (across several iterations/reboots), can also be seen as a closet narrative. i saw these characters struggling with the two sides of their lives, two worlds, each of which only understood part of them, and i kind of directed my whole self into those stories because i couldn't really stand to be an active participant in my own at that time in my life.

so i returned to that stage last summer. i embraced that confused kid who just tried to contort their sexuality and their energy to fit a fucked-up paradigm and i just worked through all these big feelings that i was trying to shove in a box the last time i was obsessed with Perry the platypus. and you know what? it's good to know that no matter how old i get, he's still there. lol. there are still such things as simple comforts, touchstones to the shit that got me through. it wasn't the healthiest time. i lived in a daydream, but by god i lived.

lived to write really weird sex fanfictions about a 2D sentient platypus. fuck yeah. peace and love on planet earth.

15. Did you read any books that were nominated for or won awards this year (Booker, Women’s Prize, National Book Award, Pulitzer, Hugo, etc.)? What did you think of them?

huh, looks like the only book i read that won an award this year was A City on Mars by Kelly & Zach Weinersmith, a nonfiction book that got the Hugo for Best Related Work! that one was fun. (i have read a bunch of the most recent Hugo/Nebula/Ignyte winners/nominees, just in 2023. and apparently i DNFed an Arthur C. Clarke nominee, lol).

so it probably won't be very surprising if i say i don't pay much attention to book awards, personally? like, i'll forget they exist until the day i randomly stumble across the winner announcements and then i get to go "nice, deserved"/"oh, i've been meaning to read that"/"wow, can't believe that got nominated" for 10 minutes before i move on and they completely leave my mind again. i don't think i've ever picked up a book solely bc it won something - they're fun, it's neat when a book you liked wins, but imo they're rarely indicative of a book's quality. (and yeah, "useful way to highlight new exciting books" to "overhyped popularity contest" is absolutely a sliding scale you could put most awards on)

Behind Closed Doors: Part 1

Intro:

How's this for a cover picture? It's AI generated lol - I asked ChatGPT for ideas for what sorts of things could be included for a cover picture that gives of the vibe that suits the story (I was originally going to make a cover by myself using some pics off of Pinterest or something), and it generated a mockup image of the Renaud Records building. I had no idea it could even do that! I'm not even paying to use the plus version... I didn't do much... just cropped it a little, and did some colour grading on it. I think it looks alright!

Anyways, I was going to wait a little while before embarking on this new adventure, but I've been feeling like I've been putting stuff off for a while, and I don't know that is a positive thing for me anymore. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's necessary to take breaks, but there's a difference between that and stalling because of fear or uncertainty. I don't want to do the latter, so here I am!

It's so cool to be able to do this again with a new writing project. I really hope you guys enjoy it! I love these new characters with all my heart, and I hope their journeys throughout the story entertain, inspire and move you as much as they have with me. Here is where it all begins...

The Gala

(Setting: A lavish charity gala in late September. The venue is an upscale hotel ballroom decorated with crystal chandeliers and elaborate floral arrangements. Elena Crewe, wearing a simple black dress, nervously adjusts her name tag while scanning the crowd of wealthy attendees.)

Angie: (approaching Elena with two glasses of champagne) Hey, girl. You look like you could use this.

Elena: Oh gosh, yes. Thanks. (takes a glass) I feel so out of place here.

Angie: You'll be fine! Just remember - you're here for a good cause. Besides, most of these people are way less intimidating than they look.

Elena: Easy for you to say. You work with them.

Angie: Well, I don't work one-on-one with them or anything... not really. But I see them all the time where I work. Trust me, once you get past all the designer labels and fake smiles, you realise that at the end of the day, they're just people. (notices someone across the room) Oh! Speaking of people... Vincent Renaud just walked in with his brother Lewis and his wife. I forget her name. But I know it begins with an "S." Sarah, perhaps? Wait, that's not right...

Elena: Where?

Angie: By the entrance. Tall guy in the navy suit, talking to that other tall guy in grey who's holding hands with that blonde woman in red. Ugh, what is her name again? Susan?

Elena: (nervous laugh) Oh wow. He's... not what I expected.

Angie: What did you expect?

Elena: I don't know. Someone older? More... corporate looking? He looks like he belongs in a magazine or something.

Angie: Yeah, the Renauds won the genetic lottery AND the money lottery. Life's not fair sometimes. (checking her phone) Shoot, I need to go handle something. You gonna be okay by yourself for a while?

Elena: (shifts nervously, but nods) Yeah, I think so. Thanks again, girl. Wish me luck!

Angie: (smiles) Go get 'em, tiger. And remember - they're all just people.

(Angie leaves. Elena takes a deep breath and makes her way toward Vincent, who is now alone checking his phone.)

Elena: Uh, hey! Hey, Sir. Can I talk to you for a sec?

Vincent: (looking up from his phone, slight surprise in his expression) Yes?

(Elena is briefly taken aback for a moment. He is a lot more striking in appearance in person than he is online and in pictures. His piercing blue eyes are particularly striking, and leave her momentarily in a bit of a stupor that she brushes off once she realises that they've been standing in silence looking at each other for a little too long)

Elena: You're Mr. Renaud of Renaud Records, aren't you?

Vincent: (locks his phone and puts it away) Yes, I am. How can I help you?

Elena: Oh, I'm Elena Crewe. I work in New Horizons, and I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time? I don't know if you know anything about it... it's a non-profit organisation that helps at-risk young people.

Vincent: New Horizons... the one with the youth outreach program?

Elena: You've heard of us?

Vincent: (small smile) I make it my business to know about interesting local initiatives.

Elena: Cool! So, you are familiar with some of our work, then. That's really great to hear. And it makes things a little easier for me.

Vincent: Well, I think it's just really good to keep yourself informed on things. Especially things that show a lot of promise. Is there anything specific you wanted to discuss about New Horizons?

Elena: Uh... (gets a bit nervous again upon becoming aware of the intense eye contact between them at this point. Tries her best to push through the conversation) I was wondering if I could talk to you about all the other things we do to support kids in need, and their families as well. It would be great to get some extra support, especially from someone like you.

Vincent: Someone like me?

Elena: Y-yeah. You know…

Vincent: Or me?

Elena: Well, I mean I'm here talking to you, aren't I?

(Something like intrigue or amusement flashes in Vincent's eyes for a moment, but when he talks again, it is in the same polite but detached business-like tone as before)

Vincent: (looks around the increasingly busy room) You know what? I think we should go somewhere a little more quiet. Come with me, Miss Crewe.

(They make their way to the more private terrace outside, away from the loud crowds of people in the venue. There, they continue their conversation)

Elena: So, how much do you know about what we do?

Vincent: (leaning against the wall) Enlighten me.

Elena: (gaining confidence) Well, we work with at-risk youth, providing everything from after-school programs to career counselling. Last year alone, we helped over five hundred kids stay in school and off the streets.

Vincent: Wow...

Elena: (smiles) Yeah! It's great to be able to make such a difference.

Vincent: May I ask why you're here?

Elena: (smile falters slightly) What?

Vincent: What are you looking for, exactly?

Elena: Support. Financial support, specifically. But also potentially partnerships. Your influence could-

Vincent: (interrupting) My influence?

Elena: (standing her ground) Yes, your influence. The Renaud name carries weight in this city. Having you publicly support our cause could make a real impact.

Vincent: (smiles, amused) You're very direct, Miss Crewe.

Elena: (shrugs, trying to push past her nerves) Is that a problem?

Vincent: No, no. (chuckling) Actually, it's refreshing. I'm used to most people spending twenty minutes kissing up before getting to the point.

Elena: Well, I figured your time is valuable. And honestly, so is mine.

Vincent: (raising an eyebrow) Is that so?

Elena: Yeah. Every minute I waste on social niceties is a minute I could be doing my actual job. Protecting and supporting those in need of my help.

Vincent: Huh.

Elena: What?

Vincent: (incredulous) You actually enjoy working?

Elena: (laughs) Yeah, I do. Weird, right?

(Both of them laugh a bit at this)

Vincent: Alright, alright. Let's focus on the matter at hand... tell me more about your little project.

Elena: Okay. With all due respect, Mr. Renaud, this is so much more than just a "little project." We're changing lives at New Horizons... I mean, the decrease in gang activity alone this past year has been incredible.

Vincent: Really?

Elena: Yeah. And we've supported so many people through complex family issues and seemingly impossible situations. Last year, I worked with a seventeen-year-old named Mateo. It was his last year of high school and he was on the verge of dropping out, caught up in the wrong crowd and falling behind on his schoolwork. But through our mentorship program, he not only was able to stay in school but also landed a scholarship to study engineering.

Vincent: (nodding slowly) Impressive.

Elena: Yeah... he's on track to getting his dream job. He's so excited about that. Oh, and there's Layla...

Vincent: Who's that?

Elena: Layla Young. A young single mother who was struggling to make ends meet. She took one of our vocational training courses, and now she’s running her own small but successful catering business. She recently got engaged, I believe. She's doing really well right now.

Vincent: That's amazing.

Elena: Yep! And that's just two out of hundreds of cases. What we’re doing really works. But to keep it going, we need support. That's why I'm here.

Vincent: (studying her with newfound interest) You really believe in this, don't you?

Elena: I do. Because I've seen the difference it makes. These aren't just statistics, Mr. Renaud. These are real kids with real potential.

Vincent: Hmm. Well, this is a lot of interesting information. And it is clear that you care a lot about your cause, which is great. Why should Renaud Entertainment care, though?

Elena: Because helping those in need is a good thing.

Vincent: Uh-huh…

Elena: What? That's not good enough of a reason for you?

Vincent: Miss Crewe, you're trying to negotiate with me here. Correct?

Elena: I guess.

Vincent: You should really get the other party interested in what you have to offer. That's the whole point of negotiating. Give me a compelling business case.

Elena: ...Fine. I have other reasons why you should care, too. Aside from the obvious moral imperative, I believe partnering with New Horizons would be good for your company's image and reputation. Consumers often value brands that give back to the community. This could be excellent PR for the company. So this partnership would be mutually beneficial as a whole.

Vincent: (nods slowly, taking it in) Okay...

Elena: (gaining confidence upon realising that he seems genuinely interested) And think about it - these kids are the future. The next generation of writers, producers, singers, actors… the very backbone of your industry. Your future talent pool. By supporting them now, you're investing in the future of your business. You need to help them so that they can help you. You know?

Vincent: Mhm.

Elena: Young people are your biggest audience, too. Investing in them now isn't just charity - it's smart. Business-wise. And well, considering your company profits largely from youth culture and entertainment, wouldn't it make sense to invest in the next generation?

Vincent: You've thought about this a lot, haven't you?

Elena: Yeah. (pauses) Wait, what's that supposed to mean?

Vincent: (chuckles) Nothing, Miss Crewe. It was just an observation. But this has been a really interesting talk. You've certainly given me a lot to think about.

(Vincent's phone chimes in his pocket. He takes it out and looks at the notification before looking up to face Elena again)

Vincent: Unfortunately, I can't stay much longer. Family commitments, you know how it is.

Elena: (tries to hide the disappointment in her voice) Oh. Is everything alright?

Vincent: (nods, puts his phone away again) Yeah, yeah. That was just my brother. He's taking Sable home early because she was feeling under the weather. But he also reminded me to meet up at Cam's for our weekly dinner get-together. Can't miss it.

Elena: I understand. Thank you for your time, anyways.

Vincent: Tell you what, though... I don't mind continuing this conversation. We can arrange a meeting for next week and finish things up then?

(Vincent hands her his business card)

Elena: (eyes widening) Oh!

Vincent: Yeah. Call this number, my assistant will work something out for you. This conversation has been fun. I'm looking forward to continuing it.

Elena: (taking the card, a smile spreading across her face) Oh, me too! Thank you so much for this.

Vincent: Of course. (turns to leave, then pauses) Oh, and one more piece of advice - next time, you might want to consider dressing a bit more... appropriately for these kinds of events.

Elena: (looks down at her dress. It was a hand-me-down from her mother, and the nicest, most expensive thing she owned) O-oh. Ok.

(With a final chuckle, Vincent departs, leaving Elena momentarily flustered and unsure how to feel about his parting comment. She stands alone on the terrace, staring at the card in her hand. Her emotions are a swirl—part excitement, part indignation, part something else she doesn't want to closely focus on. She exhales sharply, trying to shake off his final remark)

Angie: (pops up from behind her) Hey! There you are.

Elena: Oh, gosh. Where were you?

Angie: It's a long story... to give you the CliffsNotes version, my boyfriend's band has finally booked a gig. All thanks to moi.

Elena: Ah, that's awesome! Tell him I said congrats.

Angie: Will do. Also, I bumped into some fans of the pod.

Elena: That's cool. But speaking of the pod, have you finished editing the latest episode?

Angie: ...I'm getting to that.

Elena: Angie! We're already two weeks behind schedule!

Angie: I know, I know. It'll be done by the end of the week, I swear. How has the networking been going for you?

Elena: Uh... good. Better than I thought it would go, anyways.

Angie: Yeah?

Elena: I got somebody's business card.

Angie: Really? That's great!

Elena: Do I look okay?

Angie: ...What?

Elena: My dress. Somebody said it was inappropriate.

Angie: Who?

Elena: It doesn't matter, Ang. He's already left.

Angie: It was Vincent, wasn't it?

Elena: Uh... yeah. How'd you know?

Angie: I don't see him anywhere. Or Lewis. Or his wife. Whatever her name is... Stacie? Sophie?

Elena: ...Sable?

Angie: (gasps) THAT'S IT! I knew it was an "S" name...

Elena: (chuckles) Yeah, he made a comment about the fit. Didn't appreciate that... but talking to him wasn't all bad. He and I had a long and interesting conversation.

Angie: Ugh, the nerve of him. Then again, maybe I shouldn't be all that surprised...

Elena: What do you mean?

Angie: He's just like that sometimes, you know. Cold, stern business guy. It's easy to find him intimidating.

Elena: Gosh, yeah. I was freaking out the whole time I was talking to him. I tried not to make that too obvious.

Angie: Still, I thought he'd actually be decent. Especially since this is a charity gala and you are a complete stranger he's meeting for the very first time. Like, it's different from people he works with on a regular basis.

Elena: (shrugs, her tone resigned) It's fine. He probably didn’t mean anything by it. I mean, look at everyone here—they’re all dripping in designer labels. I guess I stood out.

Angie: (crossing her arms) Yeah, well, standing out isn’t a bad thing, Elena. You’re not like them, and that’s why you’re here — to shake things up. You're good at that.

Elena: (smiling faintly) Thanks, Angie.

Angie: Come on. (extends her hand) Let's go celebrate our evening of success with some more champagne.

Elena: Great idea. (takes her hand. The two friends head back inside together and have fun for the rest of the night. On her way home after the event was finished, Elena’s mind lingers on Vincent’s words and the way he looked at her during their conversation — sharp, assessing, but not unkind. She promises herself to focus on making sure she is well prepared for the next time she meets Vincent Renaud. She is determined to impress him and secure this deal with him)

I have fully outlined this story, but I have no idea how many parts I will end up splitting these dialogue plans into... we'll see how it goes, I guess.

BTW, about Angie... she is meant to be Elena's closest friend in the story. And in past posts, I have called her "Angel." I like that name a lot (especially for a character that is a close and loyal friend or protector... makes me think of guardian angels), but I decided to change that here. Partially because I've already got a character named Angel in another story lol (not that these two stories can't be connected, but still). I decided to call this specific character "Angelina" because it is a pretty name (as well as one of my favourite Lizzy McAlpine songs haha), and it also happens to have the word "angel" in it. And I have the characters of this story refer to her as "Angie" for short.

I read all your Danganronpa fanfics and I must congratulate you for the way you write the dynamics and differentiate the characters very well If I were to write Sayaka and Makoto i'd probably end up making them both equally lol Do you have references? I mean, is your writing inspired by any other media or books? (I'd appreciate a few recommendations🛐)

I don't think I consciously have any characterization references for those fics, other than the source material and maybe the aspects of fanon I find most complimentary to it.

I think my answer to this other ask is somewhat relevant here, but as far as literary influences, I know when I was younger I read a LOT of Orson Scott Card (mainly the Ender's Shadow saga) and it had a pretty big impact on my writing style (at least for my non-fanfic writings) for a while. I don't think there's a ton of that in my writing anymore, though. More recently, I've been reading a lot of Octavia Butler, and I really admire her writing style. I don't know whether it's influenced me, though, because she knows how to be concise and I struggle with shutting up, lol.

As far as recommendations, I have a book recommendation tag (and also I like the usual 2010s fandom books, like The Hunger Games and Percy Jackson). Idk if you wanted fanfic recommendations, but that depends on which specific characters and relationships. (And also I'm always worried I'll forget to mention one and hurt someone's feelings.)

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? i love a happy ending!! my series Odysseus in White Silk is probably the happiest ending, and in such an undeserved way hahaha it's so very AU because i was sad after s1 of the show and just wanted them all (and armandaniel) to live happily ever after

8. Do you get hate on fics? i dont think i ever have, but i tend to read comments in good faith too, so maybe someone out there is annoyed that i interpreted their vague dislike comment as a genuine comment or something, idk. in general though, i'll say no

What’s the craziest one you’ve written? oh wow, not in a long time. i do have a wip sitting around rn that's a crossover between london spy and cloud atlas, which is really crazy until you remember that ben whishaw is in both london spy and the cloud atlas movie lol. and cloud atlas is already about weird reincarnations and parallel worlds and stuff, so it isnt too out-there.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? hmmm, i would like to finish Roswell -- well, kinda (agent carter farm girl / alien crash landing au) because i still have all the original notes and outlines and stuff. i also made a shitty conlang when i was first writing it, which is crazy lol. but it would need some pretty serious revisions, and i would definitely rewrite the first few chapters that i posted years ago. i just kind of lost the agent carter bug, but i might return to that fic if i ever get in the mood for it again.

What are your writing strengths? ooh, i'm not really sure! i get a lot of comments mentioning characters' voices and/or personalities, so i would say maybe that!!! i also feel that i'm fairly good at mimicking an author's writing style when i want to (notably, i do not mimic anne rice when writing vc fic, lol)

What are your writing weaknesses? editing for sure. i have at least a hundred fics sitting on my hard drive fully or almost-fully written that i just need to edit. but i would simply rather die than do all of that. it's also why my whole merlin fic got put on pause while i went down the vc rabbithole, because i just can't bring myself to go edit the next chapters lol

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? hmm, i think it's usually unnecessary and comes off as a bit silly. that said, i did do it once (maybe excessively) in Daniel Molloy, Time Bandit (1984 daniel ends up in 1794 theatre des vampires, it's more of a character study than a time travel fic) BUT, let me defend myself -- i did it because daniel doesnt understand french, it's his pov, and he's incredibly confused and distraught for most of the fic. i felt like the dialogue being in french conveyed this sort of "daniel does not belong in this time/place" vibes. but, also, my french is...a little rough. so i'm sure it's an annoying fic for french readers lmao

Favourite fic you’ve written? ok, i have three different answers for this. the fic i think is the best, objectively, in terms of writing and content: The Story of Dani [...] (r63 devil's minion from armand's pov, starting with lestat's house). the fic i am the proudest of, mostly because it was my first "big" fic (it's funny now, bc it's only 41k) and i feel like i grew a lot as a writer while working on it, and i'm still happy with it: The Face of God (les mis pov javert, character study from childhood). the fic i have the most fun with and think about almost 24/7: Arthur Pendragon, Long May She Reign (r63 merthur, canon divergence, this is like a 4-part series that's currently over 300k lmao)
