L&D Trans Sim Tagging: EA Made an Oopsie

Xan here. Remember how I never got into Fullbody outfits, in the original Trans Sim tutorial? Well, I am honor-bound to get into it a little. Why? Because I made a discovery, and it's...not great.

TL;DR: The Part Flags for most of Life & Death are messed up. Trans Sims are wearing the wrong meshes and it cannot be avoided; EA has to fix it.

If this concerns you, please upvote the report, and spread the word. They have ignored the Sims community about gender-related glitches in the past. Help us make them fix this, so we don't have to.

In-depth explanation about the problem below.

I was stoked to see we got clothes for both frames in the newer packs. Finally, Sims can wear whatever gender clothing they want! That's the goal, right? But, recent testing made me wonder how they handle opposite-frames. I thought I could learn something to help with inclusive tagging. So, I stuck Carmen in a dress from L&D, and:

It passes from the front, but...her chest. That's the opposite gender distortion. The one caused by putting a AM (masc frame) mesh on any AF (female) Sim, trans or not. I've definitely talked about this.

I went and cloned both meshes to check the tags, and sure enough:

Quick tagging lesson: toggling Restrict Opposite Frame means Carmen can't wear the AF one. She has to wear the AM frame dress, because as a trans Sim, her frame is AM. (Literally, the Opposite Frame of her gender.) But because she has breasts, she inherits the chest distortion all female Sims get wearing a man's top. The same applies for Erik, her counterpart (AM w/AF frame).

With a sinking feeling, I went back to the game and tried...everything.

I ran out of space, there are more. Trans-men are the same. I got halfway through the AM catalog and ran out of willpower. I'm betting almost every item made for both frames in this pack is tagged wrong. It's locked by frame, instead of gender. With pants, that's not a problem--but tops, dresses and suits will all be swapped.

So, now we know Fullbody meshes work similarly to tops. They need to be locked by Gender. And it's really just that tag. To test, I went back to my cloned dresses, and fixed it with two clicks:

This means all women regardless of frame can use the AF, and all men can use the AM. And here's the result: AF dress on AF Sim, AM dress on AM Sim. They literally swapped dresses.

So, easily fixed! That's 2 files out of...all of them. (sigh) I filed a Bug Report, linked above. Hopefully the amount of evidence I provided will get an actual response. That, or they'll think I'm an arrogant prat for telling them how their game works. But, I didn't break it.

Moral of the Story: this is a great example of what not to do if you make cc, or if you retag what you download. Remember, if you want to limit who can wear a mesh:

"Restrict Opposite Gender" for Tops and Fullbody; this makes sure all AF and AM Sims wear their meshes, and don't end up with chest lumps.

"Restrict Opposite Gender" for AF Bottoms; Trans-AM Sims break in half. Don't Restrict AM Bottoms at all. They fit everyone.

Or, Don't Restrict Anything, if you want all options. Note: distortions will happen. Mark your gender filters. They help a lot.

Earrings, Hats, Makeup, Gloves, Socks, Tights work for everyone

Necklaces and Nails are "Restrict Opposite Frame"; Trans Sims can't wear these from their own gender. They don't fit.

If you got this far, thank you for sticking it out. My innocent question turned into a tagging lesson (again). But, if it helps anyone in the future, I'll be glad. At least now we know there's a problem.

I decided to keep info about their families vague, but here's a tiny bit of additional info

Shock isn't really a jealous person. She can be protective, but she trusts Calliope, so there's no issue. As for marriage, the only ones focused on that right now are Jack and Sally!

Shock - Normal amount of communication. Hilarious dry humor. Lock - Forgets to respond sometimes. Short answers. [x] Barrel - "Text me when you get home" meme and emoji king [x]

They're more outdoorsy people when it comes to dates, tromping through pumpkin patches, enjoying the world! They'll watch a movie at home occasionally but more often they watch Barrel game.

She's more of a dog person than a horse person, but she likes animals in general! (And because banshees are a type of fairy, all animals seem to like her as well)

Private-room only because Lock and Shock get competitive about singing over each other until they're literally screaming

They arrived slightly younger than they appear in the movie. They didn't have consistent guardians but that was a short period of time before they began living under Oogie's command.

Absolutely! Sally's company is his greatest joy. He's also the kind of guy to introduce her like "And this is my exquisite wife, Sally."

Let's just say the Valentine's Town dance floor was...poppin' off [1] [2]

Shock started wearing flowers in her hat after she met Calliope, who would often put them there for her, or in her hair! But she certainly does carry herbs and such in her bag!

Our Little Blessing In The End Of The War.

In this Tony and Nat doesn’t die in the end game. Just goes into a small week long coma. K/N means Kid Name.

You and Bucky been dating for a while, and you guys fell in love basically at first sight. You were already an Avenger member before, you tagged alone with Steve during the fight against Tony and others because of the Sovia Courts. You and Bucky fell in love instantly, since then you both been dating.

Current time, It was during the fight of Avengers Infinity War. You were beside Natasha helping her, as Bucky and Steve were near each other shooting guns. Suddenly things went quiet, some of the Avengers yelled for their friends. You and Nat looked at each other confused, you ran to go find Bucky. You ran seeing Steve, he was on one of his knees touching the ground.

“Steve?” Your voice shaking. “Where is- where is Bucky?”

Steve looked up, fear and sadness in his face. Then you realized, what he was touching is Bucky. You look around and see others fading away. Fear set in you now as well. You began to cry.

Weeks went by since that day, you felt depressed all the time, but unusually felt sick a lot especially in mornings. You googled your symptoms, realizing you might be pregnant. You quickly left heading to the store, coming home with a box of pregnancy tests. You took it, just waiting for the results. You felt afraid of what the test would say. After 3 minutes past, you looked a it seeing two pink lines. You took another one because you didn’t believe it, same results positive. You grabbed your phone, instantly calling Steve. Once he answered you asked him to come over it’s urgent. A knock comes at your door, you rush opening the door. You let him in, he left to go into the bathroom as he sat on your couch. You walked towards him with two pregnancy tests, you showed him them.

“Wait.. you’re.. pregnant?” Steve said, confusion in his voice,

You nod your head. “Yes.”

Your eyes glossed over as tears started to form. Steve stood up as he took the tests from your hand setting them down. Steve opened his arms giving you a hug. He rubbed your hand contorting you. You balled your eyes in his arms for almost an hour. Once you finally relaxed, Steve and you began to talk.

“It’s Bucky’s.” You said looking down at the tests. “The baby, it’s his.”

Steve already knew, it was obvious. “I know. I know it is.”

“Steve, what am I supposed to do but he is not here because of the blip I’m afraid.” You exclaimed.

Steve sighed. “Don’t be you know Nat and I will easily help you with this baby despite us not having kids we know a lot. I’ll gladly help you.”

You smiled out of relief. “I just feel-” Your words felt stuck in your throat. “Like I- I feel like I’m not gonna be a good mother.”

Steve rubbed your back. “No, No. I have faith in you. I know you’ll be a good mother.”

You smiled at Steve. “But another thing is, how am I supposed to literally tell my kid why their father isn’t here.”

“Time will tell I guess.” Steve responded.

Your first ultrasound came up, and you cried once you saw the baby for the first time. Nat went with you for this ultrasound because you felt awkward with Steve being there. You showed Steve the photos, he felt amazed when seeing them. You all joked around how the baby has Bucky’s forehead. As your pregnancy continued, you got more ultrasounds. You were about to pop almost. That’s what Nat described you, you laughed at it. It was a late night, your water broke. Lucky Nat was spending the night, she rushed you to the hospital. Steve eventually showing up after you gave birth. You were lying in the hospital bed, tears of joy as you held your baby. You had a baby girl, you smiled with joy. You let Nat and Steve hold her as well.

Eventually the time went by, the End Game came, they’ve been collecting stones for couples weeks. Eventually getting the stones all ready, you stayed with the baby at home. You just worried, Steve got your hopes on telling you they might be able to bring Bucky and everyone we all lost back. You hope so, your daughter is now 5 years old. She’s sitting playing with toys as you made dinner. You just couldn’t help to worry.

A knock at the door startled you.

“I’ll get it mommy!” Your daughter ran to the door. You followed behind her.

You both opened the door seeing Steve standing there. “Hi uncle Steve!”

“Hi K/N.” Steve replied.

You looked at him as he smiled brightly. Bucky walked up behind Steve. Steve went inside as well Bucky did. You hugged Bucky tightly. Crying in his arms. Eventually one time, Steve did tell your daughter where her daddy went, who he was. All he claimed was he was kidnapped that’s it. Bucky looked at K/N and smiled.

“Daddy?” She turned her head looking at Bucky.

“Yes- it’s me.” Bucky had tears already in his eyes but now even more from seeing his daughter.

She ran hugging Bucky as he hugged her back. From that day, Bucky always made sure he was there. It was a dream come true you thought, your boyfriend and your guys kid. You both got married shortly after, having your daughter as the flower girl because she begged to be a flower girl anyways. Nat was your brides maid, Steve was the groomsmen.

Okay, I LOVE this sort of stuff. It just makes my entire day.

The Hylian written languages are a mess, man. But it’s nice seeing how they vary and how that’d affect how the Links communicate. I thought it’d be fun to share this since apparently written Hylian isn’t like, common knowledge in the fandom. Might be useful for art or the alike maybe? not sure

(really long post so. under a read more it goes! So I've been teasing this character in my tags/posts for a while, and she's finally hereeee. Anyways WHOOPS, another self indulgent Lethal Company character who is basically the Wario version of [Cap'n]!

Meet Echo and her crewmates: Orion (goggle'd circle-shaped one), Spade (short one with big arms), and Guy (shapely GNC one). Being the opposite of Cap'n's crew, they're all men EXCEPT for Echo!

At first, she started out as a grown woman having a one-sided, very pathetic beef with Cap'n, but she evolved into an angry teenager who projects all of her issues onto someone who literally doesn't know she exists (and subsequently does something horrible to herself to rectify this weird beef). Did it work? Well no, come on, look at her, now she's even worse GOKJDFMKDF

And when I say "one-sided", I mean it. Genuinely Cap'n doesn't know who she is, like, at all. I think the first time they meet will be the inevitable werewolf fight between the two of them when things get out of hand.

Anyways I love the kidnapper fox, but alas, she was too swag for this world, RIP to a real one that lasted a month and a half. u_u)!!

ok among my favorite parts of qsmp is the fact that charlie slimecicle can only hold the act of being mad at mariana when mariana isn't in the room. like he successfully rp'd being mad at his deadbeat puta esposa for months while mariana wasn't logging on, like he complained about mariana at the wedding, during the election, in subsequent appearances, and then he's messaging mariana in the chat during purgatory and he's still holding it
