For a fleeting moment, you fear you might burst, crushed like glass under pressure. Then, just as abruptly, the grip softens. The unrelenting strength gives way to a trembling gentleness, though the urgency remains, as if he’s terrified you might slip away. He presses you against his chest, murmuring unintelligible words that sound like expressions of relief and, simultaneously, a mantra. You feel him press his face against the crown of your head, gently nuzzling the rubber of your suit with tenderness and care. His small, frustrated grunts betray his longing to bury himself in your hair and feel that no great wall separates you both for once.

cheers, cause I'm back in my crossguild arc!! (technically I never left, I just didn't make any art because I was busy - how many birthday artworks could I possibly have to make in three months? a lot...)

but anyway I think the dynamic of these two is way more subtle than any of the croc-ships, platonic or otherwise!

in my head they share a lot of habits and hobbies: they're both avid readers, take care of plants and value their physical appearance quite a bit (which is probably the most canon of them all, just look at their beard and hair respectively).

then comes the fact that they're both share the aspiration for being the "greatest" at something, even if Mihawk has already achieved it, and a history with a certain redhead.

basically, they have a lot to bond over once they actually learn how to communicate (I headcanon Crocodile as their mediator at first, speaking both of their "languages" until they figure out how the other ticks on their own)

For the art requests thing, perhaps a Minkowski? If you need something more specific, I'd love to see S4-era haunted, guilty Minkowski (or late S4 kick-ass harpoon murder Minkowski), because I feel like whenever I see art of her it's S1-era, and as both a tragedy enjoyer and a Minkowski enjoyer, S4 is my favorite part of her arc. (or perhaps Minkowski and Lovelace...)

Very excited to reexperience season 4 now that I’m intentionally paying attention to Minkowski’s whole relationship with her authority because man. She’s just. She goes through it. She’s so strange. So important.
