An expression flickered across Tom’s face so quickly that he couldn’t read it. “I won’t do it again,” he said after a beat, sounding far less flippant than he had before. He was on top of Draco, a knee on each side of his hips, one hand still on his shoulder from rolling him over, the other on the pillow beside his head. He was, well, not warm but solid, real. It was difficult to be angry with him when he was so close.

Billy and Sarah bonding over talking shit about Winnie🤣🤣
Also Winifred being so used to making decisions for her sisters, she legitimately believes Sarah wasn't capable to do it on her own accord :p
You know what my favourite thing about the whole affair is? The fact that, supposedly, Billy and Winnie shared one kiss. One kiss, when they were 16/17 years old, and Winnie just never let that shit go.
Then 40 years later she finds out that Sarah and Billy hooked up, and that Billy loves Sarah, and just cannot believe the audacity of this man. So she kills him.
And actually that's a valid point. Winnie believing Sarah doesn't have the capability to decide to go seduce Billy of her own accord. Clearly Billy must have taken some advantage of Sarah's naivety and their strange lust for men. I like to think she was still upset with Sarah, but never outright blamed her for it, and Sarah just never told her the truth.
They did feel kind of bad when Billy was killed, though.

WIP TITLE MEME.
tagged by @prometheas @denerims @faarkas & @aartyom to do this – thank you all so so much ily guys! ♡
tagging: @aelyosos @brujah @cultistbase @florbelles @girlbosselrond @indorilnerevarine @jendoe @lightwardens @liurnia @malefiicarum @morvaris @nocticulas @nuclearstorms @risingsh0t @shellibisshe @solasan @swordcoasts @steelport @voerman & anyone else who is writing right now, i'm sorry i don't really know at the moment! also as always, no pressure to do this! ♡
rules: post the names of all the files in your wip folder regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it
so, i'm going to expose myself right now and show you guys my wips checklist doc. these are all the ewskers, obviously. i'm not really 100% on my writing rn, so i won't share snippets, but i will do summaries and tell you about all of these (and maybe bits from my little plan outlines). y'all get a variety and a half lmao
i may share snippets of last one, but no promises because it's spicy and i might get a bit uncomfy sharing. and with the first one, i showed what i had a bit ago before deleting the posts, and there's only been a bit of progress since, but the whole two fics aren't off limits for little moments or insight

I want to take a minute to adress how important Skeen was for Cassian, maybe the most important person he has met so far in the series for his development into a rebel and a leader. That whole scene between the two of them at the end of the aldhani arc, is basically cassian's version of the dark side cave in TESB. There is this moment, as Skeen continues to talk and develop this idea of, what if we run away and leave them to die, and he says:
“ I saw it the first minute you came into camp. You're just like me, we were born in the hole, all we know is climbing over somebody else to get out. ”
And THIS is what really ignites that anger in Cassian, and that sort of primal reaction. Because it's more than just 'we can't leave Vel and Nemik to die, that's wrong.' There is a very real danger there, and you can see in his eyes, the moment he realizes it. He can see himself in Skeen, he's like his sort of 'dark side' version he has to face in that moment, a real life warning of what kind of person he could become if he continues down this path of apathy. And the moment he shoots him, is the moment he sort of shoots that version of him, sort of like killing 'evil Cassian'. And it works in the same way narratively, because he was faced with the worst parts of himself and he had to destroy then to grow a character.
Then when he kills him, it's so fast, but so decisive. And he stands there SHAKEN, but it's a very different kind of shock to for example when he kills the corpos, it's not a 'oh, no what have I done.' It's a more resolute sort of, 'I did It, I didn't think I hade it in me'.
And I think it's very interesting and very human that his immediate reaction is to run away. Because, yes, it's jarring and terrifying, being faced with that sort of truth, to have a mirror being held to your biggest flaws as a human being. But I think moving forward, that moment is going to mark him. Next time he thinks about running away, he will think back on that, and it could be enough to stop him and to coax him closer to finally stepping up and truly commiting to the cause and basically placing himself last.
