WIP for my visual novel fanfic, the drawing for ep3 main CG is coming along...

Besides studying how Lovestruck does their art, I also studied how they do their rough drafts. They make sure the colors work w/ the sketch before cleaning up and adding lines I think.

Fun fact: I finished the ep3 CG a week ago, but didn't like it when I was play testing so I deleted it. -- This current WIP is actually a redo and I love it a lot better! I coded in the initial CG to test and...The initial CG I drew didn't work out with the dialogue when I was animating it so it moved up/down. Ripley's head was off-screen and I needed Ripley and the MC upper bodies to be in the same 1280 x 720 screen.

It felt bad to delete a week's worth of work on a drawing, but it had to be done. The scene is very important.

Hi Elle! As someone who has always wanted to make animatics and animate, I have a simple question that for some reason I haven’t been able to answer. Sooo…. (Idk if this is weird to ask but) what are the proportions of the canvas you use for animatics? Are they the typical 1600 x 900?

my animatics are usually 1280 x 720 but if I’m feeling fancy they’re 3840 x 2160‼️GOOD LUCK LAD

Hey Chica, I have a question for you. I wanna make my own banners/headers for my own fics (I write, but I’m insecure about my writing 🙈 I’m working on a couple of fics now that I hope to upload before the end of the year 😂) but I’m not of the dimensions or sizing I need to make them. Ooh fun! Yes, write, write, write! As for banners/headers and such, I feel you. I started off using free graphics that some bloggers generously provide (@cafekitsune and @firefly-graphics are two of my favorites).

Gradually I got more comfortable with Canva. Pros use InDesign and Adobe products like that. I'm not a graphic designer by any means, but I get by doing simple stuff. Here are some dimensions I use:

Masterlist headers: 1280 x 450 px

Story thumbnails: this varies, but generally I stay in the range of 1280 x 720 px -- which is a typical YouTube thumbnail template. It really just depends on the image I want to use. Recently though, I created a banner for an upcoming series that's 3000 x 1055 px.

If you use Canva, you can browse the available Tumblr, YT, or even email header templates to get an idea of what dimensions you want to use. It's really whatever you like most for your aesthetic.

How did I get it to look so good? I rendered it at 70 FPS and had the screen size set to 1280 x 720. Adjust the lightning settings to get the shader effect you use to look the absolute best that it can! I VERY SELDOM leave the lightning on default settings. I also used all the effects listed in the credits section. Learn how to use those and you’ll achieve the same result! <3

The motion data and camera data for this video were by YuzukiChxn, but I animated the effects, tie, skirt, hair, and hair clips! About 720 total frames for 16 hours! My hand did not appreciate it but it was worth it. ❤️

I didn't realize just how bad the quality was the first time around playing at such a lower aspect ratio and refresh rate. Which I think I did that because I had read about the mouse sensitivity issues, so I did that on purpose. Glad I went and download that fix for the second time around. Its not perfect, there is one thing that will cause the camera to swing wildly for some reason, but its manageable.

What aspect ratio do you typically use for animations? My default is 1024 x 768 but I wanna make sure you're comfortable with the canvas size and all that before I start drafting a storyboard
