Just Like You

pairing - trans!William x Yami

fic type - (mostly) fluff

notes - I got this idea partially from @kray-dragon (thank you!!) (also this is not mpreg, william is a trans man in this fic) also both are captains in this fic, despite the image

William and Yami have been together for a long time. Yami has managed to love him, throughout everything that has happened, through everything that was unexpected. When William revealed to Yami that he is a trans man, he didn’t think of him any differently because of it. A while after he came out to him, William confessed to Yami about his feelings for him, expecting to be rejected because of everything that has happened with him. Something unexpected happened, though. 

“You got a crush on me, Goldie? I’ve been waiting for you to say that,” Yami chuckles, pulling him in and giving him a kiss on the cheek. William stands in front of him for a few moments, his cheeks a deep shade of red. 

“I- uh- thank you,” William manages to blurt out before walking away, overjoyed but flustered. A year or two later, their relationship has progressed a lot, and they’ve gotten to know each other even better. 

“Hey, William, can I ask you something?” Yami asks, in a slightly more serious tone than usual. William notices this, and holds his hand. 

“What is it, dearest?” William asks, leaning in intently. 

“Do you want to have kids someday?” he asks, putting his other hand on top of William’s. He looks up at his lover with a soft, but overjoyed smile. 

“Yes, of course,” William answers, wrapping his arms around Yami. One morning, William tries a pregnancy test. When he checks it a few minutes later, he puts his hand over his mouth in shock and happiness. He runs up to Yami with the test. 

“Hey, Goldie,” Yami mumbles tiredly, kissing William on the forehead. 

“Look, darling,” William holds the test up to him. When he realizes what the test means, his eyes widen in surprise. William hugs Yami with tears in his eyes. 

“Thank you, my love,” he whispers into his neck, crying tears of joy. Yami takes care of his lover as much as he can, and protects William from any danger. He also helps him with his duties so he doesn’t get stressed out. 

Months later, William is expecting to have his kid any time now, and he’s happy. Though, he does have concerns about passing his curse down to his child. He would love the kid no matter what happens, but he still fears what the child would experience because of the scars. William worries about asking Yami about this, since he might get worried, as well.

One fateful day, William suddenly lets out a cry of pain while sitting with Yami. 

“Honey, are you ok?” Yami asks, worried. 

“I t-think i’m in labor,” William shudders with tears in his eyes. Yami brings him to the infirmary right away. He holds his hand the whole time, sad to see him crying in pain. After the child is born, William is barely conscious. Yami leans down and kisses him on the forehead. 

“You did so well, honey, thank you,” he whispers into his forehead softly as William smiles with tears and sweat on his face. When he’s more awake, the doctor lets him hold the baby. When he sees his baby, he gasps softly, softly placing a hand on his little face. He has the same scars that William has. He looks up at Yami, slightly worried. Yami picks up the baby gently. 

“He’s just as pretty as you, Goldie… he has the same hair color as me, too… I love him,” Yami chuckles with tears in his eyes, rocking the little one in his arms. William looks up at his dark-haired lover with a smile. 

“You’re a wonderful father, already…” he sighs, still sitting in the infirmary bed. 

“You are too, Will… thank you,” Yami whispers, kissing him on the forehead. 

“So, what will we name him?” Yami asks William, looking down at the small child in his arms. He thinks for a few moments before looking up at him. 

“Atlas,” William decides. Yami looks over at him with a smile.

“That’s a good name,” he chuckles. 

“Also… I was worried about how you’d feel about the baby having scars like mine for a moment… I knew you wouldn’t have been upset but… what if the child gets outcasted for his scars, like I did,” William asks, looking down at his hands. 

“I’ll protect this kid, at all costs. If someone is ever a jerk to him, I’d make sure they’re sorry,” Yami promises, still rocking the baby in his arms. William looks up at him, tears welling up in his eyes, again. 

“Thank you, my love,” William whispers as Yami leans in and pecks him on the lips. 

“You’re welcome, Goldie.”

For disability pride month, I really want to take a step back and look over myself. Despite my upbringing with my diabetes, I think it’s time I finally look at it for what it is.

I am disabled. Even if it isn’t super visible, I have to live my life so very different than any normal person. I’m not going to get into the details now, but I need to just say it aloud.

I have an illness that changes my everyday life. It makes me sick. It makes traveling hard. It costs me money to have life saving medicine and equipment. I’m not ashamed of it either. I’ve lived like this for 20 years now and I plan on living plenty more.

Everyone experiences dysphoria. Literally everyone...even cis people.

Hear me out.

Cis men who refuse to wear a dress &/or blouse or other feminine clothes, &/or who feel odd or uncomfortable being called woman, girl, lady, ma’am, she/her.....are experiencing dysphoria. They don’t realise this because more often than not, other people will usually correct themselves in the right direction (he/him, sir, man, boy, gentleman) & they don’t have to fight, argue, or correct anyone to be seen for who they are.

Cis women who don’t want to wear suits or tuxedos or other masculine clothes, &/or who feel odd or uncomfortable being called man, boy, gentleman, sir, he/him....are experiencing gender dysphoria. Again they don’t realise this because more often than not, other people will usually correct themselves in the right direction (woman, girl, lady, ma’am, she/her) & they don’t have to fight, argue, or correct anyone to be seen for who they are.

Everyone experiences mild to moderate gender dysphoria.

Everyone experiences mild to moderate gender euphoria too.

Cis women who shave their legs, armpits or other body parts, &/or get their facial hair waxed, threaded, or shaved off, &/or do manicures & pedicures, &/or style their hair a certain way (short, long, curly, straight, whatever they enjoy), &/or enjoy wearing dresses & skirts (especially when they have pockets), those are (among others) methods of validating your own gender.

Cis men who refuse to shave, &/or who style their hair a certain way (short, long, etc.), &/or who wear sports jerseys & basketball shorts or suits & ties, &/or style their facial hair (twirled mustaches, combed or braided beards), those are (among others) methods of validating your own gender.

The difference is, transgender people (a) may not realise they’re dysphoric until they experience gender euphoria (they might think it’s depression or something else), (b) are not automatically recognized as who they really are & may experience people correcting themselves the wrong direction, &/or (c) have to make changes (socially &/or medically) to be seen as who they are (& even then may still be unseen by some people).

Trans people “stand out”, because people see what they assume to be a man presenting feminine or androgynous or wearing a nonbinary pin or a pronoun pin (or other indication they aren’t a man), or they see what they assume to be a woman presenting masculine or androgynous or wearing a nonbinary pin or a pronoun pin (or other indication they aren’t a woman), & people who were conditioned to exclusively see a firm binary defined by your body get confused & upset. We are visibly different. (And we experience more intense gender dysphoria & gender euphoria than cis people.)

You were conditioned to see my body as Woman™, so when I present as man or nonbinary you think I must be bad because I defy the confines you were taught define reality. You feel the need to question your reality, to question everything you were taught and conditioned to believe, but that’s terrifying so instead you pin me (& my community) as an oddity that needs to be silenced & controlled.

The problem is you don’t have to question your gender or the gender binary as a cis person (because people already see your gender correctly most if not all of the time), so when other people do it opens a whole world of possibilities that overwhelm you.

The world was never truly binary.

But it’s more comfortable to see it all as binary, so you don’t have to explore any other possibilities (whether by questioning your own gender & your own identity, or by questioning the binaries (including gender) to better understand people who defy them).

You are taught to be apathetic & complacent. So I understand being afraid to rebel & become compassionate, empathetic, & bold. But it’s so necessary for your chance to thrive, and for mine as well.

I ask you to remember that memorizing someone’s pronouns doesn’t mean you respect them. You still need to take time to teach yourself to see them for the man, woman, or binary defying person they truly are.

Together we can make this world a safer place for everyone, including you.

There is strength in unity - hence the government seeks to over-label & define & divide us.

I am nonbinary. I am masculine. I forgive you for seeing me as otherwise, but I need you to learn & relearn.

Growing & making mistakes & learning new things is an essential part of being human.

Please reblog the kosa bill posts from me and others. This bill is EXTREMELY dangerous to the queer community and especially queer minors. As a queer and trans minor in a bad home situation, I and many others would be in so much danger if this bill is approved. Its actually so horrific. One of the senators who introduced it, Marsha Blackburn, said that "protecting minor children from the transgender in this culture" was a top priority. As a trans minor, I find this disgusting and harmful to my existence, I'm sure many others my age feel the same way. So please: REBLOG THE KOSA BILL POSTS.
