#13GoingOn30. Rewatching this tonight felt like the right thing to do. It just clicked and it's nice to be reminded what was great about this one. Something about today made this the perfect choice and then I realized that it's quite timely since I've already hit that milestone recently. Thirty, flirty and thriving? More like thirty, broke and struggling. Anyway... more about the film. It's cringey, funny, and definitely iconic. Seeing Jennifer Garner play someone so naive was just a treat. It's a nice callback to your first day of work, or even your first job. Getting thrown into the real world and figuring things out while everyone around you looked like they got everything together. It's nice to see how someone so fresh and innocent be thrust into the crazy madness that we call work. So chaotic, yet so cute how our younger selves tried so hard to make work work. Next, the music is just too good. Seriously. Madonna, Michael Jackson, Liz Phair, Billy Joel, Rick Springfield, Vanilla Ice, Whitney Houston, just WOW! Love is a battlefield - what an anthem for this film. Such great picks. *chef's kiss* The actors, too!! Mark Ruffalo, Andy Serkis, Judy Greer -- I mean, hello??? MCU PEOPLE?? So when is it Jen's turn? LOL And then Google tells me Brie Larson and Ashley Benson were part of Six Chicks. WAT But really, it's also the nostalgia and what this film really meant to me growing up. As far as I remember, this was one of the films that made me dream about wanting to work in publishing. It looked fun and I wanted so bad to be part of the team that created K-Zone or Ozine. I even remember writing it as one of my 10-year goals in our college year book. Welp. Haha! " I think we all—I think all of us - want to feel something that we've forgotten or turned our backs on because maybe we didn't realize how much we were leaving behind. We need to remember what used to be good. If we don't, we won't recognize it even if it hits us between the eyes." Such a good film. I keep saying it and I'll say it again - it's nice.
