First of thank you all for showing such positive support to this offhanded AU I made. Seriously the feedback and interactions I’ve got are amazing!

So what do I intend to make with these characters, further down the line I wanna make a series of short comics about the misadventures between old rubber hose style toons. Eventually these comic will lead up to a final conclusion(s) [I’m still working on the plot and how long I want to do this]. So stay on the look out for further updates and I hope you guys are as excited for this as I am!

I also have an animatic based on oswald from epic mickey if you guys are interested in seeing the wip once I get further into it! Once again thank you for the support and feedback I really appreciate your thoughts and overall talking with the community more!

🎞️ When it was announced that Mickey Mouse’s design from “Steamboat Willie” would be entering public domain, I contemplated whether or not to do my own take on Mickey’s particular design from 1928. Last October, I had done a drawing of Mickey with Tigger on animation paper to commemorate the 100th birthday of the Walt Disney Company. As a character, Mickey Mouse is still protected by copyright and trademark laws. Plus, A.A. Milne’s version of Tigger is now in the public domain. Tigger did not make his debut until the second (and last) original “Winnie the Pooh” book, “The House at Pooh Corner”. 🐭🐯

A commission I made via DeviantArt! Here we have the world's most famous cartoon mouse Mickey Mouse (but with no white gloves here) and the fictional version of Alice Davis from the super-old 1920's live action/animated classic shorts "Alice Comedies" (produced by Walt Disney/Ub Iwerks), in the artstyle of "Floyd Gottfredson's Color Sunday Mickey Mouse" comics. Anyways, nothing really changed, but I still want to talk about the design.

The horseshoe and overalls are kind of a reference to the Post-Disney cartoons of Oswald. The horsehoe being in an opening scene and the overalls being from one of the (terrifying) redesigns. I also think the outfit could show off his skill as a mechanic and his work on construction and trollies.

I was trying to find a way to make it known that certain limps are detachable, but I couldn’t find it. It’s hidden.

The coin necklace was most likely given to him as an heirloom. Might be a lucky penny.

That’s it, not really as in-depth as my Ortensia one, but I hope that explain my thought process.

I cannot for the life of me find a medium between these two styles, somebody help me ;-;

I gave Ortensia a slight redesign.

The “gloves” were an accident, but I did like how they look on her. I imagine it as having two meanings: 1) her being the banker’s daughter hence being in high society because ✨fancy✨, and 2) a callback to her concept art from the cancelled Epic Mickey 3 with her rock hands (at least to me).

For those who were curious about the “#” on her dress: I’m playing around with the idea that Ortensia has bad luck. Seeming to have it all, but she has had stuff fall on top of her more than once. Kind of a foil to my Oswald design in a sense.

Sorry to the pink Ortensia fans, but I LOVE her in green! It just fits so well thematically! Green is often a symbol of luck and money, and it’s hard to ignore for me with her dad (J.P) and Oswald (the lucky rabbit). I did try to add pink (because I’m a sucker for the pink as well), but it didn’t work, so I hope I can incorporate it for her modern-day design.

I made her dress more simpler, but that’s it. I just wanted to update the ref sheet.
