i'm high as a kite scrolling through twitter and then suddenly a drawing I did for the /v/ drawthread on my FYP except someone changed the text biggest jumpscare of the century I'm laughing so hard

Cecus, a party member in my (since concluded) abomination vaults pf2e game! He's kind of a creature.

The Cook - the party encountered it in a Demon Fortress where it was concocting a massive cauldron of slop for the demons to feast on

The Fisherman. Played him in call of cthulhu. He was eaten by fishmen when he went back to sample the fishmen's cursed gold

The Unamed Wretch. The party met him while he was having his innards pecked at by colossal birds while travelling though Superhell (Abbadon).

Lord Secretar Fimbolus the Dreadful. Head of security at the devil fort. Completely unwilling to do anything not in his contract (which only stipulates paperwork)

Lord Surveilant-Goologus. Head ice devil in charge of the tower.

the more I think about it, I’m actually kind of upset 4chan is gone.

I spent a lot of time there as a teenager, and while I haven’t used it for almost a decade now, due to it being a miserable pit of insecurity and sadness, there’s still part of me that regards it as a home. It’s where I cut some of my teeth, and it matters to me that I learned those lessons there versus on another website.

we know the last post on the whole site, sure, chicken jockey, the time knife everyone’s seen it, but like

what was the last post on /v/? The first and most general board I used. How did that story end?

what about /co/? By far one of the boards I liked the most. With the drawthread and the work on your art and the obscure media and the story times… what was the last post there? Was it a bang or a whimper? Did it carry the power of all of the people and moments and connections had in that space, sharing love and hate for cartoons? Or was it some stupid shit about a flavor of the month waifu, as it deserves to be?

what was the last post on /tg/? The place I met people and learned about the vast galaxy of tabletop games?

what was the last post on /d/? /aco/? /ck/? /a/? /mlp/? What was the final firecracker of stupidity released on /b/, a pit of idiocy that’s persisted for over 20 years?

As time went on the site grew more and more unusable. Gamergate and election tourists made even the most casual conversation unfeasible, and around when I left in 2019, /v/ in particular was completely worthless. Most people I know who used the site for actual hobby discussion can attest to getting increasingly pissed with posters whose only concern was being racist in the middle of actual conversations.

it was clear after the site changed ownership that Hiro was uninterested in running 4chan, and rather in simply owning it, and it’s unsurprising to me that that fact is the lynchpin that led to it being destroyed.

its not like I wanted to go back, but there’s a strange feeling to knowing you can’t.
