One Direction brought me to this hellsite and as much as sometimes I truly do not like it here, this place is still what I’d consider a safe space for me because it’s filled with people who just get it, when it comes to the boys and tonight I’ve seen people back on my dash I haven’t seen in months because when news like this hits this is still the main place we come to for comfort and to feel free to let out our emotions without having to explain ourselves because we all just get it.

I don't see this out there yet, but I really see a lot of parallels to The Beatles and One Direction.

Boy band (from the UK no less) that SKYROCKETED into fame. Beatlemania and 1D Fandom. Fans that were mostly women. A lot of different eras and changes through their short musical stint.

The stark difference is the Beatles were in their 20s and the 1D boys were just teenagers. They didn't choose this- they had no way to back out once it had started.

Then they both broke up. No one really talked to each other. There was bad blood and some reconciliation, but everyone went their own way.

And then? John Lennon (40) is shot. Liam Payne (31) died. They had both been seen as pretty shitty adults by this time as well. Abuse and drugs and tabloids.

But, both deaths rocked the world. There would never be a full reunion. There would never be new music from all of them. The emotional music you already held so closely now had a black spot that was impossible to ignore.

People used to make fun of girls who were crying and stayed home when The Beatles broke up and then again when Lennon died because "You didn't know him!" "It's just a band!" "You're hysterical."

Everyone shamed girls and women for grieving when core figures of their lives were violently taken from this world. We looked up to them as men we could hope to have in our lives in a closer way. They taught us that good men express their emotions, love deeply, and have thoughts similar to ours.

And it's happening again.

Support the Paul, Ringo, and Georges of this tragedy. Support Zayn, Louis, Harry, and Niall.

I feel like music-bros are going to flame me for comparing The Beatles and 1D, but they were both international superstars.

Don't lose your love for this group out of fear of judgement. Don't ever let people take this grief from you. It's just as important as it feels.

look. i'm not just a 1d stan. i'm a late twenties directioner who's been there through every stunt, media gossip and fabricated fallout. to see both liam and zayn releasing music in the year 2024. music that sounds true and beautiful. with an artistry that shines through. to be able to watch zayn doing interviews and participating in tv shows. to hear zayn talk about one direction fondly and recount some fun episodes of the past. after everything. i am in literal tears. i have been waiting for this moment all my life.

Louis and the Very Terrible, No Good Sleep

Louis had always been used to sleeping in a puppy pile back home. It was something that just happened, with all of his siblings being omegas, they just ended up in a giant nest all together, and Louis loved to cuddle in the warmth, and breathe in the familiar scent of home. He hadn’t thought much about it when, after graduating from the local uni, he got a job offer in Brighton and had to leave the family den. Or, Louis is insomniac. Follow him in his quest to fall asleep.
