I found a version of the Daisuke image we can't source that's got a Famitsu watermark in the corner and I found another pic from the same photoshoot. The first file was uploaded to the wiki in 2012 but Famitsu's online archives don't seem to go back that far... So wherever this was posted on there probably doesn't exist anymore. It MIGHT be in one of their physical issues but I have no way to access those lol The best we might be able to get for this is "Famitsu <2012?"

Warner Bros has now announced a lot of new revivals and reboots now.
First are two more Adventure Time series. "“Side Quests” takes the franchise back to a kid’s show, marking a return to early days with kid Finn and best buddy Jake fighting monsters on epic quests in an episodic series, eschewing the long story arcs of later “Adventure Times.” “Side Quests” looks set in the same world as the early original repeating characters such as villain The Ice King. Nate Cash, a creative (2012-13) and then supervising director (Season 5) on “Adventure Time,” figures as the series creator."
And Heyo BMO which is "The first-ever “Adventure Time” pre-school series. “In the fantastical Land of Ooo, the little robot BMO is on a new adventure. Now settled in a new neighborhood with new friends, BMO approaches each challenge he faces with his unique brand of enthusiasm and curiosity in a quest to learn and fill his database,” the description runs. Adam Muto, “Adventure Time” showrunner from mid-Season 5, returns as the main creative talent alongside Ashlyn Anstee, a storyboard artist on “Distant Lands.”"
Next is an Adventure Time movie (after several years of rumors) with Rebecca Sugar and Patrick McHale helming it.
Regular Show will have a new series with JG Quintel returning to run it and featuring new characters with some characters from the original series, though it's unknown if Mordecai and Rigby will be involved this time.
The Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends revival is called Foster’s Funtime for Imaginary Friends. Aimed at preschoolers, "a now-young group of preschool imaginary friends learns from an immature elder friend, Bloo, who, as in the original, still unintentionally gets things wrong. McCracken has promised the same fast pace but a fun, simpler structure and less cynical humor. Only Bloo and Madame Foster return."
And a new Scooby Doo series called Go Go Mystery Machine. "“While visiting Japan on the ultimate foodie adventure, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo unwittingly unleash hundreds of mischievous mythical monsters that are now causing trouble all over the country,” the description runs. Scooby turns to his uncle, Daisuke-Doo, and magical friend Etsuko and gadget wiz Toshiro to help solve the mystery and catch the monsters. "
Thoughts on the news of all these new reboots and revivals?
Source here: https://variety.com/2024/tv/global/regular-show-fosters-adventure-time-scooby-doo-1236034978/
Okay next time just link the article, but yeah there's a LOT in this to unpack and i'm thankful to know all this happened.
Starting with the Adventure Time Pile, while these were likely already in the works on some level I wouldn't be suprised if they were waiting to see if Fionna and Cake was a success before announcing them. And honestly.. i'm all for them.
Side Quests sounds like a fun idea, a way to introduce new viewers to Finn and Jake and get them invested in the old series, while giving fans a nostaligia hit, as well as giving kids who may not be ready for Fionna and Cake yet a show. I do hope this means younger than where we started with adventure time as it'd be intresting to see some of the cast in a diffrent place in their lives, but I suspect it'll be likely set during season 1 or 2. Either way not a bad idea, could be nothing, could be a lot of fun. A way to have more finn and jake without undermining what they've built.
BMO's show sounds like a lot of fun and i'm glad to see after all the other preschool cancelations Warner's stillt rying in that regard. Probably not something i'll watch but a good idea regardless.
Finally the movie. HOLY SHIT i'm so pumped for this. The other two projects have my intrest, this one has my attention. Bringing back Rebecca for a full movie that may likely answer what the fuck happened to jake (I doubt it but I can dream can't I?), and finally follows up on the heroes themselves directly, I can't wait.
Fosters Funtime: While I do hope Frankie and Herriman show up eventually, I do love this concept and the teaser animation. It looks really creative and loose and the idea of having Bloo be the deliberate bad exmaple in a pre school show is genius. This one I may check out.
Regular Show 2: Regular Harder: THis one... was a bit of a relief as I figured something like this was in the works as JG Quintel was WAY too fucking calm after what Warner did to Close Enough. So my guess was he had something in the works with warner and thus couldn't speak out like the many other creators who got screwed over. I wouldn't of put it past warner to try and revive regular show without him.
This won't fill the hole in my heart that close enough left.. but it'll help and I like that it sounds like a soft reboot: Mordecai and Rigby are probably gone outside of eithe ra supporting role for Rigbone or a guest spot down the way, but it'll likely take place at the park and follow the next generation of park workers, along with Benson and Skips. It'd be intresting to see what the gen z version of park slackers would be like, and ther'es plenty of room to have other characters intersect. I also hope they give CJ actual closure. That last part's a pipe dream but I can hope can't I?
Go-Go Mystery Machine!: This one i'm fucking HYPED for. It's the first children's scooby doo show in a while since the pre school show got scraped and given I've struggled to get through any of velma and the netflix show is probably a ways away, this sounds like a fun format break: an anime take on 13 ghost that still feels unqiue and fresh and gets into japanese mythology, somewhere Scooby Doo really hasn't gone. Pumped for this
Lovey Dovey: Not a reboot.. but still sounds like a LOT of fun: a lovesick wedding dove trying to find his true love ends up with a crowd of pidgeons who want to fuck a big bird stand in. It's goofy, looks nicely looney tunes, and seems like a great concept.
All in all not a bad crop. I'm not a fan of Warner's reliance on IP.. but it's good projects all around.

(Mini-analysis under the 'read more'!)
This was the very first time we had seen this particular shot of Daisuke.
In this shot, Daisuke clearly and proudly holds one of the new styled "Digivice"-equipped phones made & produced by Izumi Corporation,
the company canonically owned and managed and run by Koushirou Izumi, who acts as President, sometime post 2005 within the Adventures timeline.
As of the Kizuna tie-in novels, Koushiro had seemingly "just" gotten the company up and running, and within Kizuna, the Chosen Children group, including Taichi's team and Koushirou's own self, began actively using the phone models.
"Digivice" appears to work on these phones, which the Chosen use to open Digital Gates and portals within the Real World, even without the aid of a computer or Koushirou's laptop nearby.
(The actual Digivice, meanwhile, seemed unuseable.
Taichi hid "Digivice" deep within Taichi's desk drawer,
until the plot forced Taichi to acknowledge and pull it out again;
Daisuke seemed to do similar with own blue "D3",
which can be seen during the opening scenes and later moment.
When the phone device shuts off, "Izumi Corporation"'s logo can be seen in Kizuna on Taichi's phone. Though we do not see it within "The Beginning", it can be assumed Daisuke's phone shuts off in the same style.
At the end of the film, though it is implied
"something" is happening to "Digivice" and "D3",
the actual phone models they also have now,
which were produced by Koushirou, and;
which are separate devices, do not appear to change or vanish.
In promotional material released after the film's release,
the Chosen still appear to hold the phone models.

So heeey, this had been my idea since day one, back in 2012. In the AU Ryouma would be like… Erm, this thing. I apologize for making it creepy but… this kind of light/soft body horror is okayish for me.
(also i like masked villains and heroes since i was a kid… or else i’d not have had a wild crush on toku heroes and… AHEM… Medabots’ Phantom Renegade (Henry/Hikaru), which is the insp for Daisuke’s role.)
Ryouma and Psychemon/Astamon, alongside Ren and Airu (+ their mons) were recruited by Bagramon to investigate Quartzmon, but it ended with Quartzmon corrupting Ryouma once they found it. Like i said before in the previous posts about the AU, Quartzmon is a parasite. Not only did he corrupt Pseychemon, but he also managed to take control over Ryouma’s body and then turn him into this… thing.
Quartzmon changes Ryouma’s body and mind, and also in the DigiQuartz/Digital World he gains this very… creepy appearance (don’t worry, it’s a mask and a hood, nothing terrifying i swear)
Also, he refers to himself by "Quartz-kid."
Bagramon does know Ryouma is the host, but he does not know how to catch him, because he kept getting away. Also, the DigiQuartz is his ‘habitat’ so… Bagramon decided to just focus on recruiting people to combat the digimon running amok, and trying to find the mysterious 7th hero who inherited the will and power from the previous heroes from the Legend.

Todays rip: 23/03/2024
Balcony Cruise
Season 4 Episode 2
Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume D
Ripped by Helpful Salad
Requested by an anonymous reader! (Request Form)
Hey, remember yesterday's post on Viva La LOWAS: the rip of a track quite prominently paying tribute to Cave Story? Well, the Cave Story love isn't ending quite yet, and if ripper Helpful Salad has anything to say about it, the game is going to continue showing up on the channel no matter what. Though today the focus is indeed specifically on Balcony Cruise, the guy's made a bevvy of Cave Story rips just as good as this one - 39 out of his 63 contributions, to be precise! - that I think are all well worth checking out.
Funny enough, there's unintentionally been a sort of running theme with the posts as of late starting with Poké Village. That theme being that, these are all rips I love despite them paying tribute to sources that I'm far too unfamiliar with, be that Monster Hunter, Homestuck, or in this case - FTL: Faster Than Light. And I'm able to love these rips because, as I've said many a time before, SiIvaGunner is as much about appreciating the things you already love as it is about being introduced to media that someone else loves far more. I know myself already that Cave Story's music is incredible, yet despite my endless playthroughs of the game I'm never going to grow tired of hearing all the many ways SiIvaGunner's rippers share their own affection for the soundtrack, not just in the Balcony Fusion Collab, but in the continued amount of rips the game receives to this day. There's emotion packed into efforts like Balcony Cruise, emotion that shows how Helpful Salad truly understands the Cave Story sound, that makes me thoroughly enjoy his rips with or without the needed context for whatever joke he's attaching to it.
And well, after hearing Balcony Cruise, I did feel the need to go listen to FTL's music as well - and indeed, it's just as incredible as I'd suspected! The solemn yet beautiful atmosphere of Balcony can be felt in much of FTL's whole soundtrack, befitting a game about surviving a cruise through space, and so Balcony Cruise being a melodyswap to the game's main theme feels like a natural fit. Yet...I can't shake the feeling that there's also more theming relevant to the rip beyond the shared atmosphere of the two games. Though FTL isn't exactly an "old" indie game in the same vein that Cave Story is, 2012 was still only two years removed from the release of Super Meat Boy, it was still quite early on in the indie game resurgence of Xbox Live. Cave Story is a landmark game for the indie world as a fully self-made release all the way back in 2004, made by one Daisuke Amaya in his free time out of a desire to express his love for games like Metroid and Castlevania into something playable. Eight years later, the spirit of indie gaming in the Independent Games Festival, the legacy shaped in large part by Amaya, was what directly inspired Matthew Davis and Justin Ma to pursue independent development full-on to create FTL.
What I'm saying is - mixing the two games together as Balcony Cruise does, two games that are on the surface completely disconnected, yet feel ever so connected at the same time...feels all too right. And if we REALLY want to go the extra mile: a rip as solemn and atmospheric as this, feels truly befitting of Quote's journey in the King for Another Day tournament from the year prior. Losing before truly getting to do anything, outdone by the big dogs, yet providing an unforgettable experience and giving us incredible arrangements like Lifelike Waterway. Months after the tournament finally ended, after so many SiIvaGunner viewers had grown yet more attached to Quote, and many were reminded of just how impactful Cave Story in general was...Balcony Cruise feels like the perfect tribute to the game. And more Cave Story is never something I'm going to turn down.

↓ Original notes + "Why there's still no retcon of the lore" below ↓
First, the OG notes from the outdated post:
→ This count is not about “which was the very first digimon-human contact”, and yes about people with a digivice. Because if we were going to count who was the first human to have contact with a digimon, it’s actually two and they’re Oikawa Yukio and Iori’s dad, Hida Hiroki.
→ I’m ignoring all the inconsistencies with other material (WS & ▽) because they seem to not match well with the original count. So, in this case, Ken’s statement in the anime (Aug 2000) is the one to be accounted for here. I don’t know if Ryo counts as Chosen (possibly yes, judging by 02 flashbacks) but I’m not sure where to place him here.
→ I’m only adding Michael to the count, even if he’s not a main character and yes a side character, because 02 ep 14 had this statement regarding him. And I like Michael too so, let me have him there :V
→ Menoa states in the movie she met Morphomon when she was nine, and according to the Dash X novel version, she’s the same age as Taichi. Which means she became a Chosen in 1997.
→ I couldn’t think of how to include Maki & Daigo’s group in this because ▽ contradicts with the original lore’s math – The fact the Pt4 book released with the movie on Japanese theaters state them being in Elementary School the time they went to their adventure in the DW, and later the confession scene means they’re in University/College makes them possibly been Chosen Children way before 1995, and I’d take it granted that they were chosen by someone else IF weren’t for the Homeostasis being involved in the scene and the digivice being way too modern for that time (it was basically Taichi group’s model. If you look at Rui’s digivice in the leaked footage from DigiFes2022, his model seems to be different and an older version)
→ That said, Meiko is the only character in ▽ that does not fall into contradiction with the math count. Because in 1999 there was not only Taichi’s group, but also other 8 non-featured Chosen according to Kakudou’s notes. So we can consider Meiko one of those other 8 children.
→ When it comes to Wallace, I prefer to think he is game in the original math – Taichi and Hikari met that Koromon in 95, but they had no digivice until 1999. Which means it can be possible that Wallace had encountered Gummy-Choco’s egg before 1995 and only became an official Chosen Child later.
Now, the new notes:
→ To avoid spoiling any detail about the movie itself, I’ll make sure to tell you they might have changed how the math works only. It’s not like, “everyone gets a digimon at the same time” but rather… “A X number of people get partnered with a digimon in different periods of a year” – Which means yes, you can still count Rui and Ukkomon as the origins of the Digimon partnership, but that later in the same year someone else (or, say, Wallace in the main timeline) got a partner months later.
→ That said, I’m opting to update this list and work within the idea that various sources of partnership (Homeostasis, Holy Beasts, etc) can be counted in the math. Remember – Homeostasis (not referred to as this in the OG series but yes in the novels) had selected Taichi & co., but the Holy Beasts chose Dai-Miya-Iori. And some other entity probably chose Ken in August 2000. This could explain why there’s a higher number of partnerships happening at the same time in Adv’99 and 02.
→ As I mentioned before, and indirectly supported by the staff (check the official timeline at the top of the list), ▽ has violated the lore to the point it goes in direct conflict with the new 02 movie and the entire timeline. So I guess it’s better to consider ▽ as its own timeline/Alternate universe than forcing it into the main timeline.
→ That said, and since Meiko does exist in Kizuna/main timeline, I suppose Maki and Daigo also do exist, and maybe they got their “ages” retconned and down to something suitable to the universe’s math count. They can still be part of the previous five kids mentioned in Adv’99 anime/novels, but they are probably around their teen years, or even early 20s instead, not fully adults working for the government I suppose. Or alternatively, just not Chosen yet. Pick your favorite route, Maki/Daigo fans!!
