The Impact of Great UX Design on Business Growth
Tumblr media
It is 2024, and the value of great UX design should be clear as crystal to all business owners. Time and again, major multi-industry studies have proven that businesses that recognize the importance of UX design are in far better positions to grow their user bases and revenue streams.
Here are some of the most notable studies that have explained the impact of great UX design on business growth in the past few years:
“The Business Value of Design” report by McKinsey, 2018
McKinsey’s 2018 study establishes design as a competitive advantage, not just a strategy. It tracked 300 companies worldwide over 5 years, correlating strong design practices with financial success. The study used the McKinsey Design Index (MDI) to track companies.
Data showed companies with higher MDI scores (i.e., more strategic investments in product design, UX design, etc.) saw up to 56% higher returns to shareholders. This illustrates design investment is a powerful driver of long-term revenue, not just a cost.
“A New Horizon for Design” report by InVision, 2019
InVision’s 2019 report surveyed over 2,200 organizations to understand design’s business impact. It found smaller, more mature design teams often yield better financial outcomes than larger, less coordinated ones. The report highlights the fact that great UX does not have to be expensive.
“Design Economy” report from the UK Design Council, 2018
The UK Design Council’s 2018 report shows design contributed £85.2bn in Gross Value Added to the UK economy in 2016, comparable to three-quarters of the financial services sector.
There are many other studies like this from the past decade that we cannot fit in here. Some recent estimates even suggest that investing in world-class UX design services can help businesses boost their online conversion by up to 400%.
How does that happen and why do all of these studies keep coming to the same conclusion? In this post, we’ll explain exactly how focusing on UX design leads to business growth. We’ll walk you through all the direct and subtle perks of working with the best UX design agencies.
What Happens to Your Business When You Prioritize UX Design
‘UX design’ or ‘User Experience design’ is all about designing products with your target users in mind. When a company prioritizes UX design, it automatically prioritizes its user base over everything. This approach leads to a downstream of direct and indirect business perks:
By focusing on user needs, companies create digital products that better meet expectations
Intuitive, user-friendly UX designs make products easier to engage with
Satisfied users who engage deeply with products drive increased sales and profitability over time
Well-designed products also have fewer points of confusion and require less troubleshooting
Here’s what happens to a company’s business metrics when they undergo this sequence of events.
Increased Revenue and Cost-Savings
A study of over 1300 organizations across 80 countries found that:
84% of companies that focused on improving their user experiences increased their revenue by at least 4 to 8%
79% of these companies reported significant cost savings
The cost-savings part is easy to explain because repeat users are cheaper to acquire and retain. Acquiring new users costs 5 times more than retaining existing ones!
Once you give a user base a taste of great UX design, it becomes easier to monetize them and make them long-term brand loyalists. Increasing your user retention rate by just 2% can help you earn back up to 10% of your annual digital marketing budget.
Combine all of these factors and it is easy to see that prioritizing UX design not only leads to substantial business growth but also major cost cuts.
Boost in User Loyalty
Why do users stay loyal to a brand? Some think it is all about low prices, while others think it is brand perception. But, if you ask the users, they’ll say ‘previous experiences.’ In a survey by PwC, users were asked to rank their top reasons for abandoning a brand.
37% of users said that having bad experiences with a product, service, or brand itself is the number one reason why companies lose their loyalty. This percentage was way higher when the same survey was presented to Gen Z users. Other surveys have reported similar trends.
According to Zendesk, over 50% of users claimed that UX quality is more important to them than ever. The same 50% said that they’ll switch their allegiances to a competing brand after having just one negative experience with a brand or product.
This figure balloons up to a whopping 80% when they have more than one bad experience. All of these figures repeatedly show that users seek high-quality experiences over everything. Only by prioritizing UX design, can brands can give users what they seek and secure their loyalty.
Boost Your Brand’s Design Competence
It is common knowledge that Steve Jobs was design-obsessed. Jonathan Paul Ive, one of Apple’s most prominent executives, was a designer himself. We’re mentioning these names because Apple’s design-centered approach to service creation is one of the main drivers of its success.
When a company prioritizes UX design from top down, it is more likely to attract high-quality design professionals. These are the individuals who can create user-friendly products and enhance a user base’s brand loyalty. In other words, if your company invests in great UX design:
You’ll be able to hire and retain more design talent
Your products will have a competitive design edge through intuitive, delightful user experiences
Users will develop stronger emotional connections to your brand
Your design-centric culture will permeate the entire organization and foster more user-centric innovation
By making UX design a strategic priority, you can transform your company into a design powerhouse that much like Apple keeps raising the bar.
Increased Team Involvement
The leading UX designers today follow methodologies like Agile UX, Lean UX, Design Thinking, etc. All of these methodologies give utmost importance to stakeholder feedback. During the design process, UX designers ask everyone for feedback.
Developers, marketers, product managers, and pretty much everyone else on the team is asked to share their inputs on the design work. Their inputs are reviewed and then incorporated into the revised designs by the UX designers.
This modern, feedback-based UX design approach helps businesses in various ways:
Continuous feedback leads to better design decisions and higher-quality products
Feedback helps ensure that all aspects of the design meet user expectations and address real-world problems
Regular input allows for quicker adjustments which speeds up the design process
Businesses can adapt their product designs quickly to changing requirements and user preferences
Risks like expensive design mistakes and post-launch revisions go away
By embracing these modern UX design strategies and methodologies, you can create more user-centric products while streamlining your team’s workflows and reducing overall costs and risks.
Increased Employee Satisfaction
Investing in UX design gives your brand and product a higher probability of success. That is exactly what everyone in your team – from developers to marketers, wants. After all, why would they invest months of work into a product that fails to resonate with users?
Why would they work extra to revise their months of hard work? Investing in great UX helps avoid these types of issues. It increases collaboration and buy-in across the entire organization.
Conclusion
hen a service or utility has so many proven benefits, it becomes a business hazard not to invest in it. Neglecting UX design can make your business lose out on all of the benefits we discussed.
Even worse, it can make your users feel you do not care about them as much as your competitors. Do not make that costly mistake!

Plucking Easy Money From The Young Via Cool Tech
Fast Times and Cashless Highs: Technology’s Ode To Debt
“He who is quick to borrow, is slow to pay” - German proverb If you are young you are likely in too much of a hurry to read this and if you are older - can you remember what it was like to be young? Fast times and cashless highs: Technology’s ode to debt makes for thrilling reading. The young are in love with technology and this is a cashless highway to debt for the unwary. I picture a raceway, like Daytona, and lots of youthful racing car drivers revving their engines in anticipation of going around the bend. Young men and women risking life and limb to achieve victory over the slow lane. If you survey the top items on Santa’s gift list this year they will likely be the latest smart phone or high tech device, as they have been for the last decade or more. Humanity is in rapture with the fruits of technology, as we have always been. The Market’s Cut & Thrust Goes High Tech If you look back through history you will see remnants of swords and tools in museums, which were the technological offspring of metallurgy. The evolution from bronze to iron gives rise to the names of the various ages cataloguing historical eras. Of course, swords turned into guns and we all know where that has led us. The printing press, the Gutenberg press revolutionised the world in the fifteenth century and beyond. Books and pamphlets were no longer the exclusive domain of the elites. Ideas and change manifestoes were able to reach a much wider audience affecting shifts in world orders. Now, we have social media and fake news. Currently, we are in the grip of the communication and information zeitgeists and almost every Homo sapiens carries a portable device capable of these things. Touch a screen and ‘hey presto’ instant gratification. “Australians have made big moves away from cash over the past decade, with Reserve Bank of Australia's 2016 consumer payments survey showing only 37 per cent of consumer payments are made in cash today compared to 69 per cent a decade ago.” - (Mitzen, 2018) “According to PwC research, almost half the world’s digital payments in 2017 were made in China, where apps such as Alipay and WeChat Pay let consumers pay for nearly everything with their smartphones. The adoption of QR codes and explosion of e-commerce has led to a decline in the use of cash, particularly in urban China.” - (Hutt, 2019) The Cashless Swipe Into A Debt Trap “Creditors have better memories than debtors.” - Benjamin Franklin Economists will tell you that it is the exchange of produce and money that has enabled the growth of civilisations across the ages. Buying and selling stuff is at the heart of our global domination, according to them. Technology has been in the service of the market since the beginning of time. It is the market which has financed the research and development of technologies across the globe. The young are always the first to embrace new technologies, as they seek harbingers of their own hegemony. Our youthful citizens bear no attachment to a past they did not share. Progress will race across the surface of the earth fleet footed in search of market expediency. It is cool to carry no cash and swipe your phone’s screen, when conducting a transaction, in the twenty first century. The psychology of pixels forming numbers on a screen is very different to the sound and feel of hard currency in your pocket, however. Easy come, easy go, or is it a sense of it never being real in the first place and perhaps, never really having been in your possession? Anyway, things are moving along so rapidly there is no time to waste on philosophical reflection. Fast times and cashless highs: Technology’s ode to debt mounts up like investors in Silicon Valley.  Humanity and the market are always in a hurry. There are victims, however, of the ever faster economy driven by technological innovation like cashless payment. Collateral damage, perhaps, as these young lives are corralled by debt cruelling their opportunities for a fulfilling future. Buying a home slips further out of reach of ordinary young Australians each day, it seems. Cont. SNJ's Yuletide 2023 Letter
Dear Yuletide Writer,
Hello!
From one busy writer to another, thank you for writing something for me whether I am your main assignment or an extra treat. Your hard work and time is appreciated. I will also do my best to write something for my person, I'm the type of person who loves anything that is given to me as long as you enjoy it and you have read my Do Not Wants. I hope this letter would serve as a guide.
Please forgive me since this is my first year attending such a gift exchange and I am unsure whether I will do it again next year; I would like to try it and see where it takes me. Before we begin, here are some things about me that might help you under the cut:
I am SubukuNoJess at Archive of Our Own (AO3). I am an autistic asexual currently studying for a Master's degree in Professional and Creative Writing. I write fluff/humor/dark fanfiction and I'm known to like obscure fandoms/monsters. Even in a fic exchange dedicated to the rare and obscure, I am most likely the odd one out again. Haha, we'll see! I dive into multiple fandoms and I am willing to try new things most of the time. If you want to know more about me, you can visit my AO3 or Tumblr page to get an idea of what I write about and like.
Speaking of trying new things, I usually go with the flow and if I come across something I do not like, I will stop and mostly say so. Due to this being a surprise exchange, here is a Do Not Want list that I hope would help:
General DNW's: No explicit smut/sex: With NSFW in general, I am more tolerant in writing than art. If I do read it, it's under certain conditions and moods. Having said that, I generally do not like reading graphically detailed scenes of the actual act or the body parts involved. If anything, I would prefer it if it fades to black or after the fact. No PWP/PWC: Concerning with above, I would like to add that for the NSFW sexual pieces I do like, it's usually because I like the writing, interactions, and the characters. Having said that, Porn Without Plot is not my cup of tea. I don't know if PWC is a term (please correct me if I'm wrong), but I mean it by Porn Without Character. I do not want to read smut for the sake of smut and in the rare chance that I actually do, I want to do so with characterization at least. No Sexual Assault/Rape. Instant turn off. Squick. No Non-Con or Dub-Con. No Pedophilia. No incest. No excessive gore or violence. I do not mind blood or violence, but I do not want too much of it.
Next, here are my general likes. I would like anything that you can come up with, but here are some ideas to get you started: Found Family Friendship Humor/Comedy Exploration of platonic and romantic relationships Intimacy & Emotions Fluff Dark Angst Headcanons Autistic Representation LGBTQ+ OCs, AUs, Reader-inserts, Canon-Divergence, etc. Anything Creative!
And here are some specific interests/kinks I have that are completely optional/bonus points! I put them separate just in case and I'll put some of myself out there: Giants, Tinies, Sizeshifters, Height Difference (G/T) Monsters Giant monsters Hivemind Possession/Hypnotism Monster/Human relationships (whether platonic or romantic) People getting Eaten/Vore (Whether it is used as horror/fear or safe/oral) Fusions (ala Steven Universe) Anything describing voice, especially if it's deep, low, loud or multiple at once
Finally, I want to go over my requests that I would like to propose for this year including the characters I have in mind, why I like the fandom, and some ideas:
Moana (2016) - Movie Where To Find It: Disney (DVD/Blu-Ray)/Disney Plus Characters I Have In Mind: Maui, Moana, and Tamatoa Must Haves: Any About the Fandom and Why I Like It: Moana has made a big impact on me in my adult life so far. As I started college and my place in the fandom/creative world changed drastically, it was that I watched Moana and fell in love with it. Moana is the Disney Princess I relate to the most, my mom adores the film, and I grew interested in one of the antagonists, Tamatoa. It was Tamatoa that I made an account on Tumblr and helped me create again. For a year or two, I've been active in the Moana community especially on the Tamatoa side of things. Currently I still am and I have wips in the back burner. Moana is the story about a girl who is the daughter of a chief in the island of Motunui. Taking place in Polynesia and the age of Wayfinding, Moana goes on a journey to find the demi-god of the wind and sea, Maui, and restore the Heart of Te Fiti while overcoming obstacles along the way. Ideas and Prompts: I pick Moana, Maui, and Tamatoa because I love those three so much. You can either have one of them, a combo of two, or all three. I do not mind which one you use. I like prequels, mid-scenes, sequels, what if's, etc. I like anything incorporating Polynesian mythology/folklore respectfully. Moana ideas: Her interacting with the Ocean and her people, becoming a chief, telling her adventure to the children, going on a journey with Pua the Pig and Heihei the Rooster, discovering a new island, becoming immortal Maui ideas: Maui shapeshifting for the first time, him and Mini Maui having an adventure, maybe a look at his feats (pulling up islands, lassoing the sun, etc.) that are well-known or not, shapeshifting into a completely different form not shown in the movie, him interacting with the humans Tamatoa ideas: How did Tamatoa get Maui's fish hook? How did he became the unspoken ruler of Lalotai, the realm of the monsters? Hunting with bioluminesence. Tamatoa interacting with other monsters. Giant Monster Rampage. Tamatoa/Reader fics. Human!Tamatoa. Tamatoa being bigger than canon (50 feet) like maybe 100 feet. Anything having to do with his voice and teeth. And his colors. Tamatoa in the modern world. An AU where Modern Human Tamatoa somehow transforms into his giant crab form like a werewolf thing. Moana and Maui ideas: The two reuniting and going on adventures together, sailing and hanging out Tamatoa and Maui ideas: Them meeting for the first time, their friendship/relationship before the events of the film, the scene where Maui cuts off one of Tamatoa's legs, them meeting post-film, and how do things go from there, Tamatoa hypnotizing Maui to do something (angst) Tamataoa and Moana ideas: They meet after the film and slow-burn reconciling, friendship bonding, Tamatoa hypnotizing Moana (not angst) Moana, Maui, and Tamatoa ideas: The two help Tamatoa get off his back, the three go on a journey/treasure hunt, the au where Tamatoa starts off small but grows bigger over time as he interacts with Moana and Maui on the surface, the three fighting a monstrous foe
Beetlejuice - Perfect/Brown & King (Theater) Where to Find It: On National Tour, the Album on Spotify, what clips you find on YouTube Characters I Have In Mind: Lydia and Beetlejuice Must Haves: Lydia and/or Beetlejuice About the Fandom and Why I Like It: Inspired by the 80's film of the same name, Beetlejuice the Musical is a horror/comedy story of life and death when a mourning Lydia Deetz who moved to the Maitland house and thinks about death meets a demonic ghost named Beetlejuice who thinks about life and wants to be seen. I am surprised this made it on the tag list and I'm not going to question it. I love the music and the aesthetic of this. At first, I thought it was just some random thing I saw a commercial for, but I got obsessed with the album around 2019 and I managed to watch it at the Winter Garden theatre on January 7th 2020. The actors are amazing in their roles, the dynamics the characters have for each other make my day, and the themes really get to me. Ideas and Prompts: I thought about it and when I think of Beetlejuice, I think of the friendship/chaotic sibling energy that Lydia and Beetlejuice have. You can write about either of them or both. Lydia ideas: Anything with her and her mother Emily Deetz would be like. I headcanon that her middle name is Chrysanthemum, but that's optional. Anything post-musical. What are the new changes she has made with her new extended family? Does she go to school and make friends? I know that Worldbuilding was not nominated for this fandom, so this is completely optional, but I would love to see how Lydia thinks about Winter River, Connecticut through her eyes. Lydia bonding with Delia or the Maitlands. Lydia and Charles slowly healing from their trauma. Lydia has supernatural abilities! Beetlejuice ideas: What happened with Beetlejuice after the musical ended? Did he find his father? How does he reunite with the Deetz/Maitland family? Any headcanons/lore you have of him especially demon/ghost related. Favorite pairings with Beej: Beej/Adam/Barbara, Beetlejuice/Reader or OC, and in a different universe Beej/Emily/Charles. Beej interacting with his star namesake Betelgeuse. Beetlejuice's job of a guide to the recently deceased. Giant Beetlejuice, Giant Beetlejuice, Giant Beetlejuice. Lydia and Beetlejuice ideas: What happened between acts 1 and 2? How did Lydia survive three days without adult supervision in a haunted house? Lydia and Beetlejuice explore the town for supernatural discoveries. Beetlejuice being a big brother figure to Lydia. Neurodivergent headcanons. The two take over a holiday (whether Halloween, Christmas, or whatever!).
Little Shop of Horrors - Menken/Ashman (Theater) Where To Find It: Clips on YouTube, Off-Broadway Show in New York, and plenty of albums on Spotify Characters I Have In Mind: Audrey Fulquard, Audrey II, Mr. Mushnik, Seymour Krelborn Must Haves: Audrey II About the Fandom and Why I Like It: Little Shop of Horrors is a horror/comedy musical written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman about a man named Seymour who discovers a strange and interesting plant he nicknames Audrey II who can talk, sing, and feeds on blood. The musical was based on the 1960s film "The Little Shop of Horrors", has a 1986 film version with different endings, and is currently Off-Broadway. Again, I am surprised that the musical and the movie are here, but I'm not going to question it. I decided to go with the play version of Little Shop since I think it doesn't get enough love like the movie. While I was a teenager, I remember seeing a crossover art with Oogie Boogie (Nightmare Before Christmas) shaped like Audrey II and I got curious. Ever since then, I have become obsessed with Little Shop of Horrors. I go flowing into the fandom when the mood hits. I love the songs and characters, especially the plant so much. I have introduced my friends to Little Shop in the past and it makes me smile to this day. Ideas and Prompts: For this fandom, this is going to be one of my advanced requests. My requirement is that Audrey II, the man-eating plant must be in the piece. Whether by themselves or with any character of your choice. You can have Audrey, Seymour, Mushnik, a combination, or all three as well, but Twoey must be present in the fic. As for general random ideas to inspire: Audrey II as a species and their home planet. Human or Gijinka Audrey II. Audrey II crossbred with another plant/flower of your choice. A creative new outlook for Audrey II based on different play versions (Twoey having multiple heads, Twoey being a different carnivorous plant, hivemind Audrey II, Twoey's voice being the last person they consumed, etc.). Audrey II having hypnotism/siren-like powers. What does the plant apocalypse look like? Rampage. Giant Audrey II. Giant Audrey II. Giant Audrey II. Twoey interacts with humans in different stages of life. Twoey bonding with either Seymour, Audrey, or Mr. Mushnik. Twoey discovering human music. Audrey II in a modern AU/setting. Any Twoey/Reader. Anything else is fair game.
Disney Dreamlight Valley (Video Game) Where To Find It: Switch, PC, and other Game Consoles as well as Playthroughs on YouTube Characters I Have In Mind: Player Character, The Forgotten Must Haves: Player and Forgotten About the Fandom and Why I Like It: There's just something about cozy games where you meet and live next door to your favorite Disney characters that just get to me. When I got my Switch this year, I immediately wanted to get Disney Dreamlight Valley and I am so glad I did. This magic decorating, fishing, and cooking game has you as a Dreaming Ruler who wakes up in a mysterious valley overrun with Night Thorns and beloved Disney Characters such as Merlin, Mickey Mouse, Donald, and Goofy living together, but slowly forgetting their memories. As you go restoring the village and getting new villagers along the way, you uncover secrets and memories that shake your core and have you reminiscing… and that's just the first act. Ideas and Prompts: For this request, you must use a version of the player character and the Forgotten. I did not sign up for worldbuilding because I'm more interested in character development and relationships. Please note that the Forgotten does have feelings of anxiety, depression, and negativity but by the end is slowly recovering. So definite angst and hurt/comfort here. I do love the notion of the Forgotten being the child side of the player character. The one who has teenage angst and has a realistic point of view of the world, but feels alone and forgotten about. For the angst side of things, you could focus on how the Forgotten feels about being betrayed and ignored as well as how they feel about the player character prior to the game. For fluff/humor/comfort, you can have the Player trying their best to make the Forgotten comfortable. Maybe they go on a picnic or they go treasure hunting together or they stay indoors and read books. Or they help the villagers together. Since this is a Disney game, you can put whatever Disney references/cameos you would like. It's entirely optional for you. Bonus option: I associate the Forgotten with the song "Once Upon A December" from the animated Anastasia film. Since this is Yuletide, I thought it would fit but again, optional for you.
Mario + Rabbids Series (Video Games) Where To Find It: Nintendo Switch and Gameplay on YouTube Characters I Have In Mind: Beep-0, Phantom of the Bwahpera, Rabbid Mario, and Rabbi Must Haves: Phantom of the Bwahpera/Tom Phan About the Fandom and Why I Like It: Honestly, I do not know how I got hyperfixated with this fandom until recently. This series is somewhat of a crossover that stands alone, combining the world of the Mushroom Kingdom (Mario) with chaotic characters known as the Rabbids. It resulted in a new and funny combo of the Mario characters interacting with Rabbid versions of themselves first in Kingdom Battle, and then four new original adventures with the sequel Sparks of Hope and the three DLCs. At first, I was neutral about this. I liked Mario first and I didn't know what to think about the Rabbids since I did not grow up with them. I just knew they existed. It wasn't until one of the boss fights that I took interest and that's the Phantom of the Bwahpera. I love the music, the concept of a giant ghost rabbid with a phonograph in his body, and the voice. At first, I thought it was a one-time interest. I could see how some of my friends were fans of the character and I enjoyed how in Sparks of Hope, the Rabbids not only had voices and personalities, but a brand new story and characters. It came and went… until last month when the third DLC came out: Rayman in the Phantom Show. And I am currently obsessed with this. I love love love the dynamic between the five main cast of characters: Rayman, Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Peach, Beep-0, and the Phantom as they run the Space Opera Network together. Unfortunately, I could only nominate four characters I do not know if Rayman would be allowed, so you get the other four to work with. Ideas and Prompts: This is my other advanced request. You can use any character you would like (Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Peach, Beep-0, or any combo), however, The Phantom of the Bwahpera must be in the fic. He's one of my villain blorbo's and he's only in three fics on AO3 so far. Here are some random suggestions: What happened with the Phantom after Spooky Trails? Did he turn it into a theater? How did he get started traveling across the galaxy? Pairings that I like with Phantom: Phantom/Woodrow, Phantom/OC, Phantom/Reader. What happened between Phantom and Bea? Phantom partakes in different music genres and how that genre gives him new powers. During a time when he lost his voice, what did he do to fix it? How did he heal? Did he study sign language to communicate? How did he meet with the Space Opera Network? Phantom roasts your favorite character! And how do they react? Phantom actually wins and takes over, having ultimate power. What would that be like? Phantom uses sound powers, including luring people/Rabbids to their doom. Phantom interacting with his own acting troupe. Chaotic adventures of the Phantom filming a scene with Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach. The Phantom and Beep-0 teasing each other. Oh no! Either Rabbid Mario or Rabbid Peach used Mayhem the Spark to hypnotize the Phantom. What will he do? Giant Phantom, Giant Phantom, Giant Phantom. A battle scene with the Phantom. Phantom duets with the love interest.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure (Video Game) Where To Find It: Playstation 4 and 5, Microsoft Windows, and Gameplay on YouTube Characters I Have In Mind: Sackboy, Scarlet, and Vex Must Haves: Any About the Fandom and Why I Like It: Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a stand-alone Little Big Planet game about Sackboy trying to save the Imagisphere from a chaotic being named Vex from taking it over using the Uproar. Sackboy is guided by a Knitted Knight named Scarlet during this quest. This was another instance where I saw the villain first on a random post and immediately obsessed over the game after I looked it up. I love the art style, gameplay, and the voice-acting. I got it for myself on the PS4 and I suck at it, but luckily, my brother plays with me sometimes and I get through the levels. Ideas and Prompts: For this, you can choose any character and combination for the piece. I would love to read a piece with any of them and I'll be happy. Here are some random ideas: What are the Knitted Knights like? Did Scarlet and Vex meet in the past? Scarlet and Sackboy found family! Sackboy interacting with other knights (Co-Op) or the people of his village. Intense interactions between Sackboy and Vex. Giant Vex, Giant Vex, Giant Vex. I do like Vex/Reader fics. Vex taking Sackboy in as an apprentice. Sackboy trying to stay alive. Sackboy trying on different outfits and becoming comfortable with his new look.
I hope this all helps somehow. Thank you and happy writing!

Pokemon Journeys Episode 115 Review
Tumblr media
Pokemon Journeys Episode 115. Let’s review:
Alright, the beginning of the Masters Tournament. How did things start off? Eehhh, something.
Okay, let’s get this out of the way, I really feel like the beginning was kinda rushed. Ash and Goh (without Chloe) just enter the Wyndon Stadium without any of them reflecting how far the former has come since the beginning of the PWC. Instead, they just go into it like any other PWC event. And for his debut, Hop didn’t really get that much glamor. Yeah, his curbstomp loss against Ash was highly appropriate, but the dude himself just makes his entrance to the anime by casually sliding in. Kinda lame for a character like him, don’tcha’ think?
While it was cute to see Ash and Iris run into the Champion Room together, I wish they had more screentime together beforehand. Iris could’ve told Ash what she’s been doing ever since their last battle, explaining how she was able to reach Rank 7 so fast afterwards despite her lower score. They could also reflect how far they’ve both come since their days traveling through Unova. Maybe even a mention of Cilan, too. And I really wished there was some interaction between them and the other members of the Master 8 once they arrived. Characters like Lance, Steven, Cynthia, or Diantha could’ve acknowledged how much Ash has grown since the days they first met him, possibly hearing of his own Champion title at Alola.
And c’mon, no meaningful interaction between Ash and Alain? Seems pretty lackluster if you ask, given how strong their friendship was in XYZ. Yeah, they share a look during the beginning ceremony, but Alain just gives off some sort of glare. I know it’s highly possible for the two to interact in later episodes, but there really should’ve been something more impactful, like the two talking beforehand that they might finally have the rematch they promised long ago, only for Alain to grow disappointed later on when he hears that his first match won’t be against Ash.
And then the first battle of the PWC, the battle between Leon and Alain. Oooooh boi, did this battle become infamous in a jiffy. While I’m not TOO against it like many other people, in a seriousness, Alain’s Mega Charizard should’ve lasted longer than he did. This is Alain’s Charizard mind you, the same Pokemon who can hold his own against Legendaries and defeat Ash’s Greninja, and he just loses to a few moves from Leon’s. Yes, Leon’s is strong, but now you’re just stretching things. He should’ve gone done with more of a fight. It’s like this is the writers’ response to the old poll in 2016 to reverse the outcome of Ash’s battle against Alain and now this is their way of saying “Oh, you want Alain to take an L? Here’s a fucking Alain L for ya.”.
The selfie of Iris, Cynthia, and Diantha was cute, tho.
Euuh, this episode gets a 5/10. Definitely could’ve been a better start to the Masters Tournament. Hopefully Lance vs. Diantha next month will make things better.

Capitalism's crooked refs
Tumblr media
Capitalism is weird.
Almost without exception, people who invest in businesses do so without personally inspecting the business, overlooking its processes, seeing its bank statements, meeting its managers and going on the road with its sales-force.
Whether you’re managing a giant pension fund, buying into a fund with your 401k, or buying stocks (or STONKS) you likely have little to no direct experience of the firm you’re buying into. At best, you have visited a retail premises or tried a product, but that’s very thin.
Even if you think a business operates a tidy and efficient store, even if you love its products, you still have no basis to assess whether it is a sound investment. Maybe the business is selling products at a loss and teetering on the verge of bankruptcy.
Maybe those gorgeous stores are run by creepy harassers who’ve created billions in liabilities by abusing their employees. Maybe the owners have borrowed heavily to fund a cocaine habit.
You have no way to personally verify a firm’s commercial soundness prior to investing.
Instead, you must rely on the business’s own assurances about its viability — the balance sheets it publishes, the risks it discloses, its own profit and loss statements.
If these are competently prepared, it’s impossible to tell fraudulent statements from true ones.
Regulators aren’t much help. They’re mostly reactive, coming in after a fraud to figure out what happened and (sometimes) punish the perps.
While the fraud is in play, they’re unwitting participants, publishing those potentially fraudulent documents blended with true ones.
The main assurance that investors get comes not from regulators, but from auditors: those arms-length, third-party referees whose job it is to personally verify all those bank-statements, sniff around the shop floor, examine the P&Ls, and promise that it all adds up.
Auditors are the refs that keep the game honest. In theory, auditors are kept from cheating by strict ethics codes, licensure and regulatory oversight. Auditors are posed as neutral, trusted third parties who mediate between businesses and investors.
But a funny thing happened on the way to the Great Neoliberal Decline: world governments stopped enforcing anti-monopoly laws, allowing every industry to shrink down to a handful of firms that are too big to audit, let along punish for wrongdoing.
This isn’t just true of the companies seeking investment — it’s especially true of the auditors themselves. The Big Four accounting firms — KPMG, PWC, E&Y and Deloitte — now control virtually the entire market for auditing, having bought all of their competitors.
But these Big Four — who audit nearly every large business — make most of their money from “consulting” — selling companies business advice. The Big Four claim that their auditors and consultants are separated, but those claims are hard to credit.
Time and again, we see Big Four firms fudging the books for their best clients — as with “zombie banks” whose reckless lending has made them the walking dead, sure to collapse and require government bailouts.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/28/cyberwar-tactics/#aligned-incentives
These banks pay Big Four firms vast sums to consult for them. Between 2009–17, Big Four-audited bank financials failed 800 (!) audits (!!).
But the regulator only initiated enforcement action against the auditors 53 times (!!!).
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/28/cyberwar-tactics/#aligned-incentives
It’s not just the businesses that Big Accounting audits that are too big to regulate. Big Accounting is also too big to regulate, even when it conspires with its clients to commit vast, terrible frauds.
Accounting fraud is the norm in big business. Big Four firms have their fingers in every one of these frauds, from Exxon lying about shale gas to Facebook lying about video views.
https://pluralistic.net/2021/02/18/ink-stained-wretches/#countless
It’s the inevitable and foreseeable outcome of merging “consulting” and “auditing.” Auditing’s job is to bring clarity to numbers. Consulting’s job is to obscure them. You can always make more money with fraud (for a while) than you can with honesty.
The Big Four are far more likely to cook books than straighten them — every one of the Big Four firms is deeply implicated in tax evasion, for example, using numbers to obscure a business’s financials, rather than reveal them.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/15/shorter-brother/#tax-havens
It’s been nearly two decades since Arthur Andersen — part of the then-Big-Five accounting cartel — was given the corporate death penalty for its role in the Enron fraud. That was the last time a Big Accounting company really suffered over a fraud.
Since then, the regulators overseeing Big Accounting have largely ignored its crimes, or, at worst, charged the companies penalties that were smaller than the profits they realized through fraud. A fine is just a price.
Take KPMG.
In 2019, the SEC found that KPMG’s most senior managers were helping their auditors cheat…on ethics exams.
KPMG execs bribed employees at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board to slip them advance copies of the ethics exams.
https://www.nysscpa.org/news/publications/the-trusted-professional/article/sec-probe-finds-kpmg-auditors-cheating-on-training-exams-061819
Even better (worse): the bribe that KPMG offered to regulators was a job at KPMG.
Remember, KPMG plays a vital role in the market system: to be perfectly, scrupulously honest, so that rich people (and regular slobs) can make sure that they’re not getting ripped off.
KPMG’s job is to stop cheating. And KPMG cheats.
Not surprisingly, a company whose official policy is to help its employees cheat on ethics exams keeps getting embroiled in ethics scandals, which end up costing regular investors and even very rich people a lot of money.
Here’s a good one: since 2016, investors have been suing KPMG for signing off on the books of Miller Energy Partners, a dirty-as-fuck oil company that turned out to be a giant scam.
https://www.desmog.com/2021/06/03/miller-energy-kpmg-auditors-oil-fraud/
Miller claimed that it could profitably extract oil from wells other companies had abandoned as too dry to pump (energy companies routinely incorporate standalone businesses for each field, then declare those companies bankrupt rather than pay to shut down when they dry up).
Miller was a fraud. It inflated the value of the wells it bought by $400m. Miller was run by serial scammers. Its CEO, Scott Boruff, stole $6m from his father-in-law, and was a veteran of a company that went bust after roping for Provident Asset Management, a Ponzi scheme.
Boruff brought in Provident’s former National Sales Director to oversee Gibson’s sales — publicly praising the Ponzi schemer’s “proven track record in raising capital.”
Miller was full of red flags and might have struggled to attract investors, but then it paid KPMG millions to sign off on its fraudulent books. That was the clincher than brought in millions more from investors who lost everything.
Even after the SEC fined KPMG for helping commit fraud, the partner who masterminded the crime kept his job at KPMG, staying on until retirement.
Now, it’s possible the reason KPMG’s internal watchdog missed all this was because it was a little distracted at the time — you see, that was around the time that David Middendorf — who ran KPMG’s Department of Professional Practices — was being sent to prison for fraud.
Meanwhile, Miller’s top fraudsters got paid millions — and paid fines of $125,000, each.
KPMG tried to weasel out of the Miller victims’ class-action suiit, but a judge in Tennessee just overruled its objections, so it’s going to court:
https://www.goingconcern.com/kpmg-class-action-suit-miller-energy-investors/
But the days of corporate death penalties are long behind us. If KPMG loses this suit, it will pay out a few million, but it will continue to operate, providing assurances of probity where none exist.
Big Accounting is a rarity in late-stage capitalism: a sector that preys on wealthy people as well as everyday people. Somehow, it gets away with it — perhaps because there is no honor among thieves?

Is In-person Verification Mandatory For GST Registration in India
Tumblr media
The in-person verification has become compulsory from 21 August 2020 before registration is granted to the new applicant. The Finance Ministry has notified new norms for GST registration to check the menace of GST fake invoices fraud.
After several rounds of discussion at the GST Law Committee, it's approved by GST Implementation Committee (GIC) and deliberated among the 10 States' members and the center's representatives, which helped tackle the menace of fake invoices.
According to the new norm, "Now there should be in-person verification compulsory to registration granted to the new applicant. If the applicant goes for Aadhaar authentication, he/she will undergo biometric-based Aadhaar authentication at any of the facilitation centers notified by the Commissioner''.
Objective behind introducing new norms for GST registration
The prime objective of the Indian Government behind inserting this provision is to reduce the fraudulent activities of ITC and cut the frauds related to GST. Fake invoices have been a big problem for GST authorities and a nationwide drive against fake' GST invoices' has led to the arrest of more than 160 fraudsters, including 5 CAs and more than 1700 cases being filed against 5700+ GSTIN entities over the past few months.
Additionally, fake GST invoices are used to evade GST and income tax and divert funds from companies. These invoices are also used for showing non-existent transactions to jack up figures in books to get fast loans from various banks and financial institutions. Finally, fake invoices are used to wrongfully claimed GST.
The PWC India partner national leader said, "A taxpayer registering under GST can go for Aadhaar authentication, in which case registration is deemed to be granted within 3 days without any physical presence of the premise. But, in other cases, the time period could be up to 3 weeks, and authorities can undertake physical verification of the place of the business with a complete review of documents.
Also, one of the ARMG & Associates senior partners has supported Aadhaar authentication for GST registration in India. He said that such rigorous verification procedures prior to GST registration would surely help address the issue of GST and tax evasion.
What is GST registration?
GST registration is a process by which taxpayers get registered under GST Amendment Act 2016. The GST identification number or GSTIN is provided once the registration process has been done. This is a 15 digit GST identification number that is offered by the central Government, and it helps to find out whether a business is liable to pay GST or not.
Who should register for GST?
Every business entity that is supplying goods and turnover is more than INR 40 Lakh in a financial year has to register with GST. But, the threshold limit is INR 10 lakh if the person has a business in the northeastern states such as Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir. The turnover limit is INR 20 lakh and INR 10 lakh for the service providers in the case of special category states. Some businesses for which online GST registration in India is necessary regardless of their turnover are mentioned below:
• Input service distributor (ISD) and the casual taxable person
• TDS and TCS deductor
• Supplier of goods through an online portal
• Online data access or retrieval service provider
• Interstate supplier of goods and services
Who is eligible for GST registration?
1. Individuals who still have not filed for GST
2. The non-residential taxable individuals are bound for the GST registration
3. Businesses whose turnover is more than INR 40 Lakh yearly
4. Businesses that are associated with the online business categories
5. Individuals who are supplying online information from an outside place to any place within the country.
There are mainly four types of GST returns. They are- 1) Yearly GST Returns, 2) Monthly GST Returns, 3) GST filing related without output or supply and 4) GST Filing related with input or purchase. Remember, GST Monthly Filingwill be compulsory for a private limited company after PVT LTD company registration.
What is the process of GST registration?
Step 1: Visit GST Portal
Step 2: Generate a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) by Completing OTP (One Time Password) Validation.
Step 3: OTP Verification and TRN Generation
Step 4: TRN Generated
Step 5: Now, log in with your TRN
Step 6: Submit business information
Step 7: Submit promoter information
Step 8: Submit signatory information
Step 9: Now, fill in details of the principle of business
Step 10: Details of goods and services
Step 11: Details of your bank account

The beginning of the research
The study I have chosen is the Gapmap in economic terms. So, the first option I want to relate with is the GDP per capita and the second topic is the employment rate which is included the female contribution to this index.
Some questions I want to answer through this research are:
· Are the GDP per capita related to the gap in economic terms?
· The Laboral market affects the GDP per capita and the gap as well?
Hypothesis:
· The inclusion of female employment in the Laboral market increases the GDP per capita, and this reduces the gap in economic and social terms.
In this way, to answer these questions and show and develop this hypothesis. The variables chosen are -the ones I have seen in the literature review-:
• GDP per capita
• Female employee
• Total employee

Scott Morrison Inveterate Liar As A Politician
Tumblr media
Watching a clip on the ABC of Scott Morrison answering questions about his culpability for the illegal and immoral Robodebt scheme I was struck by his lying. Scott Morrison inveterate liar as a politician. Not having seen him for a while I thought thank goodness, we do not have this scheming liar as prime minister anymore. Talk about damaging the reputation of the nation and poisoning the civic well. Just look at the toxic environment our public service has become after a decade of these underhand Coalition politicians in power in Canberra.

Masked bandit?
Scheming Scott Morrison & His Robodebt Scheme
Avoiding the freedom of information (FOI) rights the Coalition made sure nothing was ever in writing, which could come back and bite them on the bum. The Royal Commission into the Robodebt scheme was hampered by this shifty policy practiced by ministers and their public servants. Getting around the checks and balances for good government and human rights was the speciality of this bunch of nefarious individuals. There was an air of smugness in their dealings with the media and all those who deigned to question their motives and modes of operating. The manipulation of grant money to marginal electorates in multiple rorts was a defining signature of their time in office. “From 2016 to 2019, the Robodebt scheme raised more than half a million inaccurate Centrelink debts through a method of 'income averaging', which has since been ruled unlawful. Debts were imposed on people like Angelica which they then had to prove they didn't owe.” - (https://www.legalaid.vic.gov.au/learning-from-the-failures-of-robodebt)

Morrison’s Damned Lies & Unwanted Statistics From PwC
The massive increase in outsourcing to consultancy firms like PwC by the Coalition was another indicator, as to the kind of government they were. Gutting the public service and reducing their own direct culpability for numerous reviews into the processes of governing were facilitated by this expansion of the private sector’s role. Ministers were feted by these businesses, as they sought to benefit from the billions being handed out. This was far less exacting than having to deal with one’s own bureaucratic departments. PwC did a million-dollar report into the Robodebt scheme, which was never tabled by Morrison’s government. The rivers of gold promised by the Coalition never eventuated and, indeed, back fired on them and us to the tune of $1.8 billion in a settled class action. “The architects of Robodebt will be referred for criminal and civil prosecution after a royal commission handed down its report into the unlawful scheme today. Former Queensland chief justice Catherine Holmes's report into the coalition government's automated debt-raising policy has been tabled in parliament and released to the public. The three-volume, 990-page report, includes 57 recommendations – the culmination of hundreds of hours of evidence, thousands of exhibits, and nearly a million documents. A sealed chapter, separate to the bound report, recommends referrals of individuals for civil and criminal prosecution.” - (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-07-07/robodebt-royal-commission-findings-revealed/102531450)

Photo by Kat Smith on Pexels.com Who Will Pay The Piper? Who will pay the piper, will it be the liar? Politicians and public servants are in the picture for possible prosecution following referrals to the AFP and other judicial bodies, according to rumours about what is in the sealed section of the Royal Commission findings into the Robodebt scheme. It would be a turn up for the books if an official was actually prosecuted following one of these enquiries. White collar crimes are rarely prosecuted in Australia, apparently, they are usually too complex for our police and laws. The cops like a blue-collar criminal to beat up on for something with a bit more obvious brutality and violence about it. In this instance, half a million Australians were falsely accused of owing large amounts of money and forced to pay it back. Some took their own lives in despair over it. There were disabled, elderly, and seriously vulnerable people backed into a financial corner of which they could not see a way out from. Meanwhile, public servants on huge salaries in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, like Kathryn Campbell, wilfully ignored the illegality of the scheme in favour of keeping their ministers happy. Suffering was something happening elsewhere, not in the departments of social security or human services. Fearless advice was not something Australian public servants dispensed, not if they wanted to keep climbing the greasy pole. Ambition trumped humanity, aspiration overwhelmed any sense of morality or compassion in these Canberra offices. Punish The Poor Is The New Centrelink Motto
Tumblr media
Above the door to the offices of the inner sanctum of these senior bureaucrats may have hung a plaque that read, “Punish the Poor for they Have Small Voice”. Perhaps, Kathryn Campbell looked up at that and smiled each day before she went about her instrumental role in establishing and maintaining the Robodebt scheme. I do not know, of course, but surely there must have been some missionary zeal in prosecuting illegal and false debts upon some 500, 000 struggling Australians. The Coalition ministers like Scott Morrison, Alan Tudge, and Stuart Robert definitely had that ideological zeal in their publicly declared belief that they were welfare cops attacking half a million cheats who were ripping off working Australians. The Coalition made political mileage on the back of such assertions. The fact that this was shown to be complete poppy cock, absolute BS, by the number crunching reports and reviews did not stop the nearly 5 years of Robodebt. Welfare cheats are a minuscule amount of those receiving much needed income support, with the vast majority struggling to survive and wanting a decent job. Australians need to wake up and stop buying the crap about dole bludgers, whether it makes them feel better or not. Because there but for the grace of god go I.
Tumblr media
Photo by Pixabay on Pexels.com The Reserve Bank of Australia banks on there being an unemployment rate of 4.5% for it to keep inflation in their 2-3% band. This equates to half a million Australians being out of work. The RBA factors this via NAIRU as their conception of full employment for the Australian economy. The government of the day supports the RBA in these economic assumptions and settings. Keeping inflation down costs the lives of these Australians, in terms of having financially viable opportunities for a good life. Why should they then be punished further by being despised by the rest of us? Why should they have to live so far below the poverty line in a civilised developed nation like Australia? These settings have been in place for the last 50 years and the politicians like Morrison and Co know this. Scott Morrison inveterate liar as a politician feeds on mistruths like this.
