The Mousseux Festival: Day 1 is the first mini album by South Korean girl group DIVINE. It’s the first release of “The Mousseux Festival” trilogy. It was released digitally and physically on August 2, 2019, with “Zimzalabim” serving as the title track.

The physical album has six versions, each member having their own individual cover, along with the group cover. The contents remain the same with additional pictures according to the version.

The group promoted for 5 weeks on music shows, performing the subtitle track “Sunny Side Up”, for 2 weeks. They attended 3 variety shows and held 6 fansigns. The album was a commercial success, topping the charts and gaining worldwide recognition. Divine scored their first win on Show Champion, following 4 other victories on music shows.

New Year Resolutions in Korean!

안녕! I haven't posted in a while due to work, but! Don't fret! I have a new post for you all about the New Year in Korean! Let's get started! 가자!

Vocabulary to know:

새해 복 많이 받으세요! - Happy New Year!

새해 다짐 - New Year's Resolution

How do we form the sentence in order to say our New Year's Resolution? It's super simple! I'll show you!

제 새해 다짐은 [verb stem]는 거예요/거야.

Let's break the sentence down so we can see it more in detail:

•제 means my in formal language. If you don't know whether or not to be informal or formal, I'd be safe and say use formalities.

•새해 다짐 say we see means New Year's Resolution.

•은 is our topic marker, saying that our topic is my new year's resolution.

•The [verb stem] is whatever you want to work on this upcoming year!

•는 is used as a topic marker. (Please note that you use 는 if the verb stem ends in a vowel, if it doesn't, use 은).

•거예요/거야 is future tense. It shows that it will happen, it just hasn't yet. 거야 is the shorter, informal version of 거예요, but always start out using formalities unless you know for sure that you can use informalities.

Side note: you can put an object before the noun to be more specific on what your goal is. You'll see that in the sentences below!

Examples of New Year's Resolutions:

제 새해 다짐은 매일 운동하는 거예요. My new year's resolution is to exercise everyday.

제 새해 다짐은 책을 200개 읽는 거예요. My new year's resolution is to read 200 books.

제 새해 다짐은 중국어를 더 공부하는 거예요. My new year's resolution is to study Chinese more. (One I really need this upcoming decade!)

제 새해 다짐은 매일 자정 전에 자는 거예요. My new year's resolution is to sleep everyday before midnight.

제 새해 다짐은 없슴니다. I don't have a new year's resolution. (Sometimes we don't and that's okay).

Vocabulary: Months, Days of the Week, and More

안녕, 여러분! Ready to learn some very useful vocabulary? We already know the Korean words like 어제 (yesterday), 오늘 (today), and 내일 (tomorrow). But what are the days of the week in Korean? We also know the word 생일 (birthday), but how do we say which month we were born in? Let’s learn all of that and more right now!

Months

I like the Korean words for months because they’re much simpler than those of English. All you have to do is put the Sino-Korean number of the month in front of the word 월, which means “month.” For example, August is the 8th month of the year, so you just have to put the Sino-Korean word for 8 (팔, but you’ll often just see it written as 8) in order to say “August.” Easy, right? Here are all the months:

1월 (일월) = January

2월 (이월) = February

3월 (삼월) = March

4월 (사월) = April

5월 (오월) = May

6월 (유월) = June

The Sino-Korean word for 6 is 육, but June is spelled without the ㄱ (probably for the sake of easier pronunciation)

7월 (칠월) = July

8월 (팔월) = August

9월 (구월) = September

10월 (시월) = October

The Sino-Korean word for 10 is 십, but October is spelled without the ㅂ (also probably for easier pronunciation) 

11월 (십일월) = November

12월 (십이월) = December

Not too complicated, I hope! But what if you wanted to specify a number of months? For instance, what if you wanted to say “I lived in Korea for five months.” You wouldn’t want to say “I lived in Korea for May”! Here’s how you can say this:

Sino-Korean number + 개월

개월 literally means “month” and can be used as a counter for months.

Ex. 저는 한국에서 5 개월 살았어요 = I lived in Korea for five months

Days of the Week

Here is the list of the days of the week, which are always good to know:

월요일 = Monday

화요일 = Tuesday

수요일 = Wednesday 

목요일 = Thursday

금요일 = Friday

토요일 = Saturday

일요일 = Sunday

To ask what the date is, you can say the following:

몇 월 며칠이에요? = What date is it?

몇 월 = how many months

며칠 = how many days

Literally means “what is the month and date?”

Let’s try saying today’s date in Korean:

오늘은 2019년 8월 6일이예요 = 오늘은 이천십구년 팔월 육일이예요 = Today is August 6, 2019

년 means “year” and needs to be attached to the year you are talking about

일 means “day” and needs to be attached to the day of the month you are talking about

Notice how rather than the Month, Day, Year pattern we use in America, Korea uses the Year, Month, Day pattern to tell dates.

Let’s try talking about birthdays:

생일이 언제예요? = When is your birthday?

You can also say 생일이 몇 월 며칠이에요? (What date is your birthday?)

제 생일은 7월 9일이예요 = 제 생일은 칠월 구일이예요 = My birthday is July 9th.

Maybe you want to talk about plans:

목요일에 9시에 회의 할 겁니다 = We will have a meeting on Thursday at 9 o’clock.

일요일에 공원에서 친구를 만났어요 = I met my friend at the park on Sunday.

Here’s some more date-related vocabulary in case you wanted to know how to say these kind of of words: 

Last week = 지난주

This week = 이번 주

Next week = 다음 주 

Last month = 지난달

달 is another word for “month” (literally means “moon,” which makes sense!)

This month = 이번 달

Next month = 다음 달

Last year = 작년 

This year = 금년

Next year = 내년

The day before yesterday = 그저께

The day after tomorrow = 모레

A.M. (morning hours) = 오전

Ex. 오전 7시에 일어나요 = I wake up at 7 o’clock A.M.

P.M. (evening hours) = 오후

회의는 오후 2시예요 = The meeting is at 2 P.M.

In 2019, the busiest downtown area of Seoul, there is a luxury ghost hotel. At first glance, it looks like it's an empty building ready for reconstruction, but if you look closely, it's a hotel that's open. When the night falls and the city falls asleep, The sign lights up.... ‘Del Luna’. In ‘Del Luna’, an elite hotelier Chansung is the manager. With the eccentric and mean boss, Manwol. The story takes place by providing special guest services to the soul guests.

ও이지은: IU: Manwol

IU, the actor acting the character Manwol, is also a famous singer in Korea. She had sung many popular songs, such as, ‘Bbibbi’, ‘Pallette’, and ‘Chat-shire’. People love her style of singing, and also the melody and the lyrics of her songs(she also writes her song and her lyrics by herself!). It has already been about 11 years since she had debuted with her first album, ‘Lost and found’, and received much love from many people, particularly from the UENA’s(IU’s fans). And also, she had showed her ability of acting in her past films like ‘My uncle’, ‘Moon lovers’, and ‘PERSONA’. In ‘Hotel Del Luna’, IU shows the character, Manwol, perfectly. Her sophisticating acting has gave fun to all the people watching the drama.

ও여진구: Jingoo: Chansung

Jingoo is one of the most loved actors in Korea. He had appeared in many films such as, ‘Absolute man’, ‘A man who became king’, and, ‘The world of reunion’.  And he has appeared in ‘Hotel Del Luna’ recently, as the character, Chansung. Chansung is one of the main and most important characters. The drama starts with little Chansung and his dad, and also ends up from Chansung’s view. Which made the viewers become more attached to Chansung. Also, people love the combination of Manwol&Chansung, too. The relationship started by employment soon develops into a much more precious feeling..😊
