i keep coming back to 'i was a functioning alcoholic til nobody noticed my new aesthetic' because i do distinctly remember conversations about how taylor seemed to be drinking a lot more and getting drunk at like every awards show she went to. and those conversations were coming from a place of concern and of hoping that she was alright and that this wasn't a problem.

so to then say 'ugh i can't believe no one noticed this problem i had' when i know that people definitely did, and on the same album say that fans who are genuinely concerned about a new relationship that you are in are just 'bitching and moaning'? what do you want from them? you're talking about so many people who do at least believe that they are coming from a place of care and concern, and you are totally dismissing them on both ends of a scale!

not to mention that her implying that since nobody (???) was noticing her ~aesthetic~ drinking problem she just stopped having it is a bit of a kick in the teeth to people who do have drinking problems and can't just stop having them, since that's not how it fucking works.

I think we'll get a new album from him by then so i'm not worried. If we don’t he needs to find a way to not totally vanish from our conscience, but still create headlines or be present on social media. He can't afford to not create engagement over a long period of time. He'll lose too many fans, and miss out on getting new fans. We know he's writing so i'm not worried. I'm expecting a new album in Q4 or Q1 in 2025.

As @staff further refine the polls while they're rolling them out (still haven't gotten mine sadly), here's a suggestion of mine: Polls with a ten year time limit.

As of right now, it's impossible for polls to turn into long-running legendary posts. You can try, sure (see the bug race), but it's a week and then it's locked, fixed, done, and all that's left is for people to reminisce about that time there was a poll.

On the other hand, if a ten year poll gets popular, it can become part of Tumblr lore while still being updated. People can write passionate appeals for their vote and fight in the notes. Others can make graphs to show how the poll's majorities shift with each different US president or Taylor Swift album. People can make memes about "remember 2025, when option 3 was in the lead? That was a crazy time".

Why ten years, though, instead of a hundred or just no time limit? Because that way, the end becomes an event. People who voted in the poll when it was just a few hours old can watch the final countdown together, and there's a new point in Tumblr history: That day when we finally all agreed on the best option, and presumably also some important political stuff happened.

Now, granted, most ten year polls would never reach this level of notoriety. But it only takes a few polls like this to be worthwhile. Maybe this shouldn't be an option for users to select, but something the Tumblr website grants/pushes on you at random?

So, yeah. Ten year polls. They should be a thing.

i started writing on tumblr august 11th, 2023 ; in just one year this blog has grown beyond what i ever thought it would-- i'm also just one hundred followers away from two thousand! i cannot thank all of you enough for this amazing growth, and all of the wonderful friends i've made along the way. since both of these huge milestones are happening at the same time i've decided to combine them into one large event-- inspired by the album i've been obsessed with since i first listened to it around the time i started this blog, Preacher's Daughter by Ethel Cain. If you haven't listened to this album in it's entirety yet i need you to log out and do that right now, it's actually life changing.

that said, the rules of the event are simple ; i will be writing ten works based off of ten songs off of the album (i've chosen to leave out the intro and august underground/televangilism due to them being instrumental tracks.) and i want you as my readers to pick what the works will be about! please listen to the album, or relisten to it if you've heard it already, and let me know in my inbox what ideas you have for the works! i will be accepting ideas as they come in, and will be updating this post as i compile a complete masterlist. after all ten plots have been decided, i will write and release them one by one in order! i hope to finish this absolutely monumental event by the end of the year or early 2025, with each fic being about 5k.
