It was made for a very short person, so I’ve provided the original length (32”/81cm) as well as an extended version (40”/102cm) on the pattern for whatever you need. On Etsy here.

Disneyland employees who perform as various Disney characters at the theme park are seeking to join the Actor’s Equity Association, which represents everything from actors on Broadway to strippers in Los Angeles. The union is seeking to represent the 1,700 Disneyland employees in the characters and parades departments at the park. It said after three days of collecting cards signed by employees, it already has more than the 30% support needed to file for a representation vote with the National Labor Relations Board, which oversees such elections. But it said it is waiting until it has the support of at least 60% before filing for such a vote or seeking voluntary recognition of the union by Disney. Performers doing the same work at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, are already in a union and have been for years. And until recently the Disney World performers were paid more than their Disneyland counterparts, according to the union. The union contract reached between a coalition of unions and management at Disney World last year pays the performers a minimum hourly wage that ranges from $21.30 to $23.00, according to the union. The Disneyland performers had been getting $20 an hour until the union organizing drive began late last year. The minimum pay went up to $24.15 an hour at the end of last year, according to the union. But the cost of living is significantly greater in Orange County, California, where Disneyland is located, than in Orlando. According to data from the Council for Community and Economic Research, the cost of living is 50% greater in Orange County, California. Housing costs, which are more than twice as expensive, are the primary reason, but prices are higher across multiple categories. There are more than 21,000 Disneyland employees, who are referred to as cast members by the company, who are represented by more than a dozen unions. Those unionized jobs include everything from retail and food service workers to security guards, hair and make-up artists and pyrotechnic workers. But not the performers who dress up as characters such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy and interact with visitors.

The Barbie lore timeline is a little vague; Barbie was originally developed as a "teen fashion model" but as the line grew and developed she was increasingly positioned as an adult with a career. Technically as Barbie has run for president multiple times, she must be over 35 (unless the rules are different in Barbieland). And as this change has occurred, other characters have been introduced to fill the role of the teen kids can look up to that isn't yet quite an adult - characters like Skipper and Jazzie.

As a result Barbie has settled into the public consciousness as an older character, so I was surprised to stumble upon this Happy Birthday Sweet 16 Barbie from 1974.

At the time of this doll's release, Barbie had been on the market for 15 years - so it seems as though it was intentionally released in early celebration of Barbie the brand being 16.

This particular doll had accessories so she could have make-up applied and her hair brushed and scented - so she is all dressed up for her 16th birthday party, of course!

The make-up applicator actually has a surprisingly complicated looking mechanism. I mean, it's certainly not beyond understanding - but I think a modern toy would be more likely to use a simple brush or sponge on a stick rather than the applicator shown above.

This vintage ad shows different outfits as a part of the Sweet 16 collection apparently released as an 11 piece set but it is much harder to find good quality pictures of those.

Barbie's sale price of $3.87 in 1974, incidentally, correlates to approximately $24.15 today.

A Place in the Line is a historical romance taking place just post-WWI, mostly set in a British military hospital. Amid the romance center of the story, the books broach some sensitive subjects, including shell shock/PTSD, wartime violence and the effects it has on people and those surrounding them, and various forms of abuse.

Originally, I wanted to publish these in one volume, since it was written as a single book. Amazon’s page count restrictions kept that from happening, but it’s probably a good thing, as unwieldy as huge paperbacks get. These are pretty massive books at about 700 pages each. You can see from the above photo that these are some thicc girls. Part 1 is a tad over, Part 2 is a tad under, because I halved it in a place that was closest to the center that still felt okay being divided.

Worker Wage - ★★☆☆☆

Based on the available information, we have found that Lululemon salaries in the US range from $8-$24.15, which is 9% below the national average. While Lululemon does not publish information on the wages of garment workers, outside sources state that the factory workers, who produce Lululemon’s garments, claim to be paid $110 a month in Bangladesh.

Working Conditions - ★☆☆☆☆

Their clothing is produced in Canada, the US, Peru, China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Israel, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Switzerland. Lululemon’s outsourced labor has raised questions in the past as to the treatment of the garment workers. In an investigation conducted by The Guardian, the workers claim to have been physically assaulted, verbally abused, and forced to work overtime, while making significantly less than the living wage.

Sustainable Materials - ★★☆☆☆

Lululemon says they aim to source more sustainable raw materials and fibers including recycled and renewable and recycled polyester and nylon. They aim to achieve at least 75% sustainable materials by 2025. Currently, they use low quantities of cotton and recycled materials. According to changingmarkets.org, Lululemon uses 23,390 tonnes of synthetics and 62% synthetic fibers in the production of their garments.

Environmental Impact - ★★★☆☆

On Lululemon’s website, they stress the company's aim towards reducing their carbon footprint by “eliminating waste and closed-loop innovation, making progress toward clean water and better chemistry”. Their website also stresses their goals such as reducing 60% of emissions in all owned and operated facilities and across their global supply chain. They intend to progress toward their goal by sourcing renewable energy, partnering with their manufacturers, and sourcing more raw sustainable materials. They have also joined THE CLIMATE GROUP’S RE100, signed the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. There is no evidence of Lululemon reducing their carbon emissions during the logistics stage of exportation.

Social Impact - ★★★☆☆

In 2022, Lululemon announced they would be donating $75.3 million to the BC Parks Foundation to support environmental preservation and habitat conservation efforts in British Columbia.

Inclusivity - ★★☆☆☆

Sizes at Lululemon range from XS-XXL, and model diversity does not reflect diverse sizing. Prices tend to be on the higher end.
